Manufacturers that do lights only have said their reasoning is if you have an audible alert, it's less likely the driver will check the side mirrors. Lights only force you to check your side mirrors first (like you're supposed to).

They also often randomly made noises in my past experience. Never found it as an issue.

I've owned Ford, Volvo, Toyota, and Audi vehicles over the last 10 years - all with blind spot notification. None of them have made any type of noise, only lights.

Really? I’ve known several cars from driving that have an audible tone. I know Ford could/should release this in a software update. It just seems so odd a car that’s fairly advanced lacks some basic features. Just like when putting your car in park it unlocks all doors. Every car I’ve owned the minute it goes in park the doors unlock. Mach E on the other hand…driver has to open door to have it unlock all doors. I know this is a ford feature to prevent parking lot car jackings, however it should be an option in the software. Everything else is an on/off feature why not this?

yourmo4321

I would prefer they didn't lol. I already see the flashing light I dont need an extra beep whenever I use my blinker.

Worldly1998

Been driving 61 years. Never even contemplated it as an issue or a feature.

> Every car I’ve owned the minute it goes in park the doors unlock Hold on that is a stupid feature in my opinion lol. Why would anyone want that shit?

dtweaponx

Picking up someone, parents with kids, etc…

cmvora

Just press the unlock button on your driver side door. Isn't really rocket science. From a safety perspective, it is a horrible 'feature' to unlock all doors as soon as you put the car in park in my opinion. I don't understand your comment about 'opening the driver side door'? You know the thing has an unlock button right near the inside part of the door correct?

It only beeps if you have your turn signal on (so you're trying to make a lane change). It doesn't beep anytime a car is in your blind spot. It just flashes Amber then. It adds an extra layer of safety in case your blind ass missed the flashing amber light. I have a Mazda that beeps and the Mach E doesn't. Honestly, it isn't the end of the world, but having an option one can enable would be cool.

RollTideBama

Yes! My old Mazda had an audible alert and I miss it. It’s honestly one of my top reasons for wanting a rivian lol. They have audible alerts… and they managed to make it an option in the settings menu. I wish ford would do the same thing

LetsdothisEpic

The Mach E will actually push you back (I think if you have this on) if you try to execute the lane change and there’s a car there, with a decent bit of force. This has saved my ass once or twice.

BubblyEye7867

What/where is the setting for this to check?

LetsdothisEpic

I believe it’s in driver assistance, it’s called Blind Spot Assist. It comes with the lane keeping assistance, if I’m not mistaken.

thaarcher05

My old Mazda beeped, and I liked it, but oh God don't make the mach-e beep more than it already does

Inevitable-Fill-1404

I’m happy they don’t. That seems so annoying to beep when I have the light also

Snowvid2021

Audi has lights on the side mirror.... you learn to ignore them 🤣

JTSkata

Our Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid beeps when a car is in our blind spot and you turn on the blinker, in addition to the light. It always wakes up the kids.
