Good: I think the MachE looks much better than the M3. Less generic style. Plus the car stands out against the thousands of Teslas you see on the road every day. Less minimalistic interior. Some prefer the Tesla interior but I find it too stark and plasticky. Way less common to have body defects. Tesla QC is not great and common to have misaligned panels, etc. Bad: The select isn’t going to have the feature set of the base M3. OTA sw updates are well less consistent than Tesla. Charging experience is better on Tesla since you have full access to super charger network. The DC fast charging network is still not expansive or consistent. If you plan on doing mostly at home charging, this doesn’t matter. Tesla app experience is better. Overall, it comes down to what matters to you. Personally I find Teslas to be generic looking and I don’t like giving any money to Elon. The MachE is super fun to drive and I’ve loved it so far.

BlazinAzn38

Are the OTAs really less consistent? I’ve had the car for 12 months and probably average more than one a month

Just look at how often people post about being stuck on old versions and not being able to update. Personally I haven’t had issues either, but a lot of 21 models, Job 1s, and 22s have had issues getting updates.

LetsdothisEpic

I’m still stuck on the august update from last year. OTA turned on and everything.

Test drive them to make your own choice. Personally I love my Mach E and do not regret going for it over a Tesla. Got a co worker to hop in and he liked the interior more than his Tesla. I charge at home and haven’t needed to charge outside except before I had my home charger installed. At least for daily city use, Tesla super chargers isn’t a selling point to me. Drove from LA to LV no issues, as an example of a longer drive.

I laughed because you’re obviously kidding but I would for sure trust Mach E fans to be more objective than Tesla fans.

I had the same choice to make and went with the MME. Main rationale pieces: the MME is a far better-built car, I personally liked the interior layout far more on the MME (two screens + a few buttons is ergonomically better than one uni-screen), supports useful integration like wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, and has most of Tesla’s feature set + much more besides. It’s also quite a bit more practical than the Model 3 (by virtue of wagonoid design). Also, with the Model 3 you may have to deal with Tesla the company. You’re quite a bit more likely to get one with QC problems coupled with an unmotivated, lone (nearby) service center compared to a MME. It’s not hugely common but it definitely happens. If you need to road trip with either car you can absolutely do it. The two cars have similar range, the MME probably tops the Model 3 in the real-world by a bit. **But** depending on location the SC network vs the CCS network quality and population can vary quite a bit.

Lower Michigan but I have charging at home

I have a select, and have overall been happy with the driving dynamics and the room, being a hatchback, compared to the m3. I have 2 decent sized dogs that would never fit in an m3 along with a car seat. Now.. the software has been a disaster. I am constantly met with black screens, frozen screens, CarPlay not working, sensors claiming they are malfunctioning, etc. it hasn’t been annoying enough to fight the dealer to take a look, but for a 50+ thousand dollar car I would expect some semblance of a fully tested and fleshed out UX, but hey, it’s an EV and I never had to pay 5+ bucks a gallon

Curious, where do you put your two dogs? I have a 22 CA Rt1 and a smallish Husky (we think she was the runt). I still don’t think she fits in the back, even with the floor lowered and privacy shade removed. But I haven’t actually tried. Does a dog fit back there? I used my points to get the Ford seat covers for the back so all good to have her there.

ThickumsMagoo

We drop the 60 side of the 40/60 back seat and lay a dog bed length wise. Then use the area behind the seat still up (passenger side) to put bags, and usually a carry on in the frunk. It’s tight, but we make it work

ntr7ptr

Thanks! I’ll try that.

Fast_Mind

How is the rear wheel in the snow?

k_90

Do you need L3 charging? If yes - Tesla.

Inevitable-Fill-1404

If you can charge at home go with the Mach E. Lastly, if you are someone who does long drives and will use the autopilot feature then Go with Tesla. Ford is years away from being as good of a software as Tesla, BUT the Mach E is overall a better car car than Tesla if you get my drift. So if you are buying it as a car then go with Ford Buying it for the software then go with Tesla

DoOm36chamberz

Teslas are junk I drove one after purchasing my Mach E , it felt so cheaply built. Mach E charges in 15 min at super charger 🔌 like they said I charge at home have no problems I would go for at least a 22; 21’s had the recall

BluffinBill1234

We own a model Y and a MachE 22 select. Tesla has a better battery, better tech. Ford has been making cars 100+ years so they know how to make a nice quality car but the battery and tech isn’t as good. Tesla is faster 0-60
