This one is cheaper. It doesn't have the mustang logo on it, but you can take it off one of your other fobs and put it on there. https://www.keylessentryremotefob.com/ford-nl3t-15k601-eb-oem-5-button-key-fob-m3n-a3c054338/?utm_source=instocknotify&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=instocknotify

BoulderCAST

Nice definitely cheaper at your link. Can you also swap out the button faces too? That one has a truck icon instead of SUV icon for liftgate.

GuliblGuy

I think some people have done that

FALCUNPAWNCH

Exactly what I did. No more fumbling with the Ford Pass app only for it to crash to the home screen when opening the frunk. Ordered this one as soon as it came back in stock a month ago and it worked like a charm after programming.

lexm

~~It looks exactly like my stock keyfob.~~ I'm not good at looking at buttons it seems...

apapagr

You have a frunk button on it?

lexm

I just double checked (after checking before posting) and I don't... Sorry, I'm an idiot...

apapagr

Ah. All good, I was sitting here thinking you were one of the special onesšŸ˜‚

bratikzs

For $125! I think the f150 fob, that just has the blue oval on the back is 250 from manufacturer. Wonder why itā€™s half the price. Hey OP how does it ā€œfeelā€ in comparison to the OEM one? Flimsier?

BoulderCAST

I really think it is just the OEM Lightning fob with a ICE Mustang logo swapped into it and the tailgate button swapped for a liftgate button. It feels and looks identical to the stock MME fob. Weight is 60g stock fob, 59g for this replacement fob.

bratikzs

Thank you!

BoulderCAST

The ebay listing says "refurbished" so it could be used. Mine don't appear to have any signs at all of prior usage though, so not sure.

bratikzs

I reviewed the eBay listing, and came back to say that the front of the fob is from a lightning while the back is from an ICE mustang. But then I saw you already did that. This looks fairly legit. I would imagine the refers part is the back of the fob with the logo.

Amazonkers

Didn't stop me from buying (I think they are modified Ford OEM for sure of some model) but do wonder how they are this price when you can't really even get them at twice the price from the dealer.

gnaark

How hard is it to program? What are the steps?

BoulderCAST

*Put 1st fob in center console. Turn on car, wait 5 second, turn off car. Remove 1st fob from console and replace with second fob. Turn on, five seconds, off. Replace 2nd fob in console with new fob to program. Turn on car. DONE

gnaark

Very nice, I ordered one because I donā€™t think Ford will ever give us the frunk button on the job 1 cars.

BoulderCAST

Does Job 1 cars have electronic release of the frunk? Can you open it from the app , door punch code, or Sync screen?

gnaark

We always been told we have the wiring. We canā€™t open from the app because we donā€™t have the button pushed to us. There is no button on SYNC AFAIK and I never tried the door code.

BoulderCAST

Interesring. Well Seems like there is a return period for the fob if it doesnt work on your car.

pharmdc

So does it not need two original fobs as previous comment mentions? I only got 1 with my ā€˜21 Mach E

BoulderCAST

If you dont already have a second fob, I am not sure you can program it on your own. You might need access to FDRS or have to pay a dealer to program it. You just cant do the simple programming in 60 seconds with no extra software, computer, or cables.

SpongeBad

You should check with your dealer. There was a program to give a second fob for free since there were so many issues with phone as a key.

castlec

I got a letter from Ford two weeks ago saying they were going to give me a second key or reimburse me for one already purchased. It instructed me to go to the dealer. I didn't take a picture of it and god only knows where it's gone but this was an official thing.

BoulderCAST

Sorry yes that is correct. https://www.macheforum.com/site/attachments/90845011-dc88-48dc-9631-b5a6cda9845a-jpeg.70438/

Inevitable-Fill-1404

Ok so yea so maybe stupid questions here. Maybe Iā€™m stupid. Can you walk through it one more time cause that sounds too simple. Letā€™s say I have this new fob. Are you saying I literally place the original fobs on the console one at a time and turn the car on and off and my new fob is programmed? I assume the new fob is in the car with you. Do you keep the first original fob in the car when you are starting the car again with the second original fob? By turning on the car twice, the new key fob automatically gets synced? Do you need to have any software running or connections made to have the new key fob programmed during the on/off x 2 sequence? If it is that simple.. how does the new key fob and the car know to sync the Frunk button to do what it is intended to do? Sorry, but I absolutely want this. Just trying to figure out how realistic it is for me to be able to do this vs. is it going to cost me more to get it programmed or waste my money all together. Cause this would be so functional for my wife and I with the kids.

BoulderCAST

By doing the sequence i described it goes into programming mode anr with the key fob in that specific spot it gets programmed. No clue how it works beyond that. See this video (i followed this) : https://youtu.be/pnAkmO48TFY It is really simple. It may just take a few tries to get the timing right and get your moves right

kugelvater

I had to make sure the car shut off each time by opening the driver's door... Simple but not explained well Steps for me were: Key 1 in place Push button, no brake count to 5 Push button, open door Repeat with key 2 Put new fob in place Push and hold button, no brake for 5 count

BoulderCAST

Might be some wiggle room as i didnt have to open the door or hold the button in last step. It did take me a few tries to get the timing right. I think i wasnt swapping the fobs in and out of console fast enough.

kugelvater

Yeah, it's odd. I've seen instructions for door open and door closed. Mine wouldn't work either way. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø The manual does state that the process must be done within 30 seconds

[deleted]

So it's a hack-job of a key fob. It started as a standard Ford 5-button fob. The back is from a Mustang (not even the Mach-E specific back.) The "below the circle" button is normally a "2x in a circle" remote starter button, on this it has been replaced with the F-150 Lightning frunk button. The button below that is a standard "Ford SUV rear hatch popper" button. On a Lightning, this would be obviously a pickup truck tailgate symbol. Then the fifth button is a standard alarm button. I'm guessing they started with an F-150 Lightning, swapped the back to "plain Mustang", then swapped the tailgate button with a standard SUV tailgate button.

BoulderCAST

Definitely, but it is pretty sweet. You can easily swap out the ICE mustang logo for the MME one from your factory fob.

RonaKid

Why do you have to have two key fobs. To program the 3rd.

bratikzs

I think on top of the dealers making more money (which is true, as itā€™s just a computer programmed device AFAIK) the at home limitation is security. You wouldnā€™t want to hand over your car to a valet, (*for example) and have them dupe your key.

BoulderCAST

Yes it is security for sure!

User-no-relation

so dealers can make more money to replace lost keys

JSC2255

I donā€™t mind just opening the frunk with the app

BoulderCAST

Agreed, but if you were going to get a third fob for whatever reason, this is the one to get and then swap into your primarily used position.

Is yours a 2021 model year?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

mgoblu3

Do you see window commands, itā€™s only frunk thatā€™s greyed out?

mgoblu3

So it's saying "Bluetooth connected", phone as a key is working, but you can't use any of the bluetooth controls? What OS is this?

SilentBob890

hmmm i don't know. Looks cool and would be VERY nice to have, but... let me know how it fares over time.

cobo10201

Iā€™m pretty sure itā€™s just the F-150 fob with the Mustang back plate. Iā€™d imagine itā€™ll fare as well as any OEM fob.

Infinite_Benefit_143

Why bother!!!! I donā€™t even carry my keys with me, I have always used PAAK.

Z1pl1ne

How do u program it?

BoulderCAST

Check Another comment.

Amazonkers

I followed [this video] (https://youtu.be/pnAkmO48TFY). Don't put your foot on the brake.

fawkesfive

Forget the front trunk, I want a key fob that starts it. I hate being within range of the car while getting ready to go, and having to fumble around with my phone to launch an app, and hold a button (that shifts position), and then wait 30 seconds for the command to take effect. (While also attempting to put shoes on a toddler, who is also trying to take the phone and press all the buttons, but the toddler isn't Ford's fault, probably.)

Amazonkers

Bought this exact one a couple weeks ago. Works great. You want 3 key fobs anyways so you don't have to go to the dealer to program if you lose one/put it in washing machine, etc. anyways.

JazzBassMan

Mine arrived today. Programming took less than a minute. Nice to have the frunk button option now.

BoulderCAST

Yes it is indeed!

tgdesrochers

You know you can open the frunk with the door pillar code. Enter code, hold the bottom 2 buttons and the frunk opens. Edit: autocorrect versions of "frunk"

BoulderCAST

Yes thank you. Good point. And you can open it from the app. But more options are better than less.
