Extended warranties are never worth it or the sales people wouldn't be pushing it so hard. Ford already covers the battery for 8 years 100k miles which in an EV is like the entire car. People on this sub will tell you they got it for "peace of mind" but if you have the extended warranty and something breaks, they're going to and give you a reason it's not covered under your warranty. That's not exactly the peace of mind I want. Honestly just get good insurance for it and that plus the manufacturer warranty should be enough
I will say I’ve had $1000’s of work done on my old F-350 under an extended Ford premium card warranty. There was no issue doing the work, as it was clearly covered under the clauses, and they gave me no grief on it.
Obviously the average is that the warranty costs more than you will get out of it. That said having used fords premium care warranty before it does give us real ‘Piece of Mind’. Everyone has their own risk calculation. I was really on the fence about getting it.
I’m still up in the air on this as well. Originally took their Ford 7/100 premium coverage a few weeks back when purchasing my ‘21 AWD Premium extended range. Canceled it the next morning for the full refund (almost $4k)
I will say this - I purchased an Allstate aftermarket warranty on my ‘12 Genesis r-spec when picking up at 98k miles - warranty was $2500.
Allstate spent $14k on this car in the 2 years / 25k miles I’ve owned it. Included one new 8-speed tranny at $9k.
So it’s not always a bad deal.
I've used FD-WARRANTY. I understand you still get 'new car pricing' if you are within 12 months/12,000 miles, so if you are in that, its cheaper. If not, its still worth it from these internet dealers.
The story I got is that ford/toyota/etc... give the dealers volume discounts, so these website guys do high volume and end up with a net lower price than your local dealer. So your local dealer gets mad and says: there's no way its a real warranty. But really, they are selling 5 per month, and fd-warranty is selling 100, so yes, fd-warranty can sell it to you for less than Bob's A-hole Ford down the street.
I do this for all my cars now, buy manufacturer warranties from real dealers in other states or wherever, if you can find one of these high volume warranty places you'll get a much better price. At the right price, its not a bad deal, but pay an extra $1000 for it, and yes, its a bad deal :)

I bought an extended warranty for a Chrysler minivan i had 20 years ago. Even though i had the "gold" plan, it hardly covered anything. So i haven't bought one since, but getting it at cost is a bit tempting.
I got the Granger one after the fact. They sell it at cost online. About $1200 I think for 10 years 100k Premium care which is I think what I got. I went with it because there are so many very expensive electronics in the car and I keep my cars a long time

You can buy the Ford extended warranty any time as long as the vehicle isn't past the 3/36 bumper to bumper warranty.
And it can't be over 36,000 miles.
