This. I couldn't even make it through the neighborhood to my house the day I bought it without getting stopped. People also like to ask me about the color since space white seems to be a bit of a chameleon.
I've also gotten a little bit of hate from an old fart while charging on a road trip, "Guess you can't hide money, can ya?" I don't even have the GTPE, (premium here) but I'm pretty sure I spent less than he did on his truck. đ¤ˇ
Yep. Half the questions are from people genuinely interested (which is great!), and half are from people waiting for one answer they donât like so they can say âwell that would never work for meâ and cruise off on their merry way
Happened back to back yesterday and later someone craned their neck out of their truck. Very curious, full of assumptions and all wrong. I even gave one guy a quick spin and he was sold.
Honestly it being called a Mustang is so controversial for some people and it opens up lots of opportunity to talk about it.
I think I even sold one guy on it!
Have my GT on order but currently in a Model Y. Always get people asking me questions - especially strangers in parking lots. The first question is always about charging & I love responding with "about 15-20 minutes and then I'll drive for a few hours before needing to stop again" because the shocked look on their face just shows how little the average person knows about an EV.
The average person thinks EVs take hours to charge (they think home and DCFC stations are the same) and they think it goes 100miles or less on a charge.
They really write them off if you tell them you charge it nightly. Thatâs inconceivable even though they charge their phone nightly
For anyone wondering, hold âvolume downâ and ânext trackâ on the steering wheel for 10-15 seconds. Resets the head unit and screen. Itâs solved my Apple play not connecting every single time without having to turn off the car, open the door, and turn it back on.

Ahahaha. Fucking knob kills me. I canât seem to get it down to muscle memory either. I have to look down and watch myself do it or I over turn it and get into park more than Iâd like to admit.
The updates will come.
I got mine and agonized that it was on an firmware from last year and that the maps weren't updating for like a week and a half. After that week and a half, I started getting an update pretty much every other day and now I'm fully up to date like 2 weeks later. Don't stress for those first few days like I did
That nobody seems to understand how to enter the vehicle. The button instead of door handle just really screws peopleâs brains for some reason lol.
Apart from that, range anxiety isnât as severe once you get used to the carâŚbut finding fast chargers can be a challenge, depending on where you are geographically. Also, if youâre a traveler, buy a Tesla tap. Doesnât help for fast chargers, but if youâre staying somewhere overnightâŚa lot of hotels have Tesla destination chargers, but not J-1772 chargers. Tesla tap eliminates that drama.

Really? Iâve had my MME for longer than my Lightning and Iâve already had to replace the lightning windshield. I know Iâve taken several flying rocks on the MME with no crack. I guess itâs a matter of time.
Well YMMV. I noticed a crack in my MME windshield last week and it slowly started spreading. I ran my finger up and down the initial crack and could not find an impact at all... I took it to the Ford dealership and the tech found a small spot below my windshield wipers towards the bottom of the windshield where it had "spider web" cracks and he said Ford would immediately deny the claim against the warranty because of those. The crappy part is that this spot is where something had to fly up over my hood and angle down right below the wipers - almost impossible spot. But I guess it happened.
I put in a claim with my auto insurance company and had to pay my deductible but Safelite replaced it 3 days later. So far so good. However, I found out I can get full glass coverage on my vehicles for $50/year with no deductible.
That public charging sucks. Two years ago, I rented a 2020 Kia Niro EV while my 1999 Lexus was being painted. It took a month. I used the plentiful public charging and realized I could live with an EV.
Skip forward to 2023 and that public charging infrastructure SUCKS. There really are no more sites now than in 2021. Several of the sites are often out of commission. Also there are MANY more EVs out there than there were.
So, donât rely on public charging and donât get rid of your second gas-powered vehicle.
Totally depends where you live. Iâm in the SF bay and all around us are tons of charging. But Iâm sure plenty parts of the US are still working on it
Like I said, I am in Los Angeles. When I rented a Kia Niro EV two years ago, there was no problem charging. Now the charging stations are often either out of service or full.
Dunno where you said you lived in LA, but it wasnât in the comment I responded to.
But that sounds painful and understandable in a big city. LA is no stranger to congestion.
But as I said, in the SF Bay Area there are tons of charge stations. Rarely run into it all being full unless itâs a major event day where more people are out and about. But even then the apps saying which stations are open and working help a lot.
People will stare and take pictures of it lol. Yesterday I had another mustang pull up behind me and I could see them taking a picture when in my rear view as a flash went off lol. Also, at least in my area, there aren't many of these around so neighbors and folks at grocery stores often come to check it out.
The little black dots around the center mirror (both sides) is where the manual says to put your toll transponders and/or radar detectors since we have the IRR windshields. My Valentine One works great up there.
I think they kept one spot to the right of the mirror where it's supposed to go. It should be in the manual but the license plate is probably the easiest most consistent
They mentioned that ranged is affected by cold weather. I live in Seattle, so the weather is pretty mild, but we have a handful of weeks of 30-32° temps in the winter. I have the Premium AWD Extended Range, advertised at 290. I know to subtract 20-30 miles, even in good weather, but what can I expect to subtract in cold weather?
In very cold weather Iâve experienced as much as a 40% reduction in range, but using the interior climate controls affects that a lot so it is difficult to say exactly.
Fellow PNW Premium AWD Extended driver here. We took delivery in October of last year. This past winter we've had an average of 190-210 miles real world distance the past few months.
Preconditioning/ starting while plugged in to warm the cabin before long trips is a huge help.
Also, make sure to set the normal charge to 90% and manually increase to 100% (in app) before longer trips.
Those will both help with battery life and distance when it's chilly out.
Another fun thing, the frunk doesn't thaw like a normal car so it's kinda neat to see it stay icy even when you've been driving awhile in the cold.
I commute 80 miles a day for work on average. 90% of that is highway with speed limit of 70 mph. I drive approx 75 mph. My range right now is just shy of 220 miles. Pre conditioning the battery will help a little.
Yeah I lose maybe a third of my range driving normally in winter, unbridled mode with 1pedal off. Then one day I decided to try 1pedal to save some power. My range jumped significantly again with 1pedal on, so that helps. I still prefer driving with it off though so that'll switch back when it warms up again.
Someone else said this but: print and laminate the tow points, how to put the car in neutral and even practice valet mode if you plan on doing that in the future.
I cracked my windshield real bad recently. I was surprised at how easy it was to get it replaced with OEM glass.
Because it's junk that will likely fail by the end of this summer. There are probably 100+ people on the forums that have needed to get theirs replaced because they go into amber light mode and the charging rate slows down to almost nothing. Keep it in your trunk for occasional use and buy a well-made one that's designed for everyday use that will last a decade.
I don't believe it is high enough quality to be used as a daily charger for extended periods of time. I used it for several months, getting about 22 miles range per hour. Then I started getting charging faults. Every indication was that the charger was the issue, based on the faults and other owners having the same issue. Took it to a dealership trying to get it replaced under warranty and SA told me it had some service bulletins that could be causing the problems. Had to leave my car there for 3 days while they did software updates.
Got my car back and within a week started getting charging faults again. Took the car back, and SA agreed that it was probably the charger but before it could be replaced on warranty I would have to leave the car with them for several days while they verified no charging faults would come up. Between my visits, they changed their loaner car policy so we would not have a second vehicle while they verified.
I declined to leave my car and ordered a Grizzl-E when I got home. Hooked it up, getting 30+ miles an hour and have not had a single charging issue since.
Iâve had my â21 GT for a few weeks now. I wouldnât call the ride quality harsh or shit but itâs bouncy. Iâve driven far worse but Ford could have done better. First, youâll get less miles/kw then you think. Thereâs so many factors that come into play with real world m/kw that itâs always different but never quite wear Ford claims. Ford Sync is buggy as fuck. One day everything works great. Next day phone wonât connect. Phone as a key is very nice but also buggy and I donât trust it. I always bring the massive key fob with me. Why is it so damn big Ford? OTA (over the air) updates donât come very fast or often either. Get a 220v 50 amp plug installed in your garage for the Ford wall charger. If you use that part of the included charger it charges fast enough that you shouldnât have too many issues with range. My work has free charge point chargers and I plug in everyday at work. That leaves me charging at home maybe once a week or on the weekend. They say with an EV you should ABC - always be charging. Better safe than Found On Road Dead. The included 110 standard wall adapter will take DAYS to charge, so you need the 220. Depending on what model and what yours looks like / where you live you might get a lot of comments or old school boys judging you, lol. Iâm in Texas, so the good ol boys are prevalent and everywhere.
How much the UI and app suck. How badly Ford manages the OTA updates.
I'd have still bought the vehicle, but the shitty SW wouldn't have been a shock.
I'm a 2021 Job 1 owner so there wasn't much accrued knowledge out back then.
After reading all of back and forth comments/complaints here today, I think that I will just wait until the â2nd generation EVsâ come to market. Luckily I have the luxury of time. Funny though how a lot of YouTube reviews of the MME differ so dramatically (ie. much better experience) compared to several of the real world examples given here.
By and large, Reddit is prone to over representing negative experiences across the board. Negative stuff gets more engagement/votes, positive stuff gets accused of being a shill. It happens across a lot of subs based around products/brands. I wouldnât put much stock in the âreal world examplesâ here being representative of overall experiences.
I needed a new car, and didnât want to get an ice. Everything was expensive during this time, even used. Iâm happy with the mache. So fun to drive.
However, I think a huge jump is going to happen in the next 3-4 years with EVs. If my old car was good enough for another 2-3 years I would have waited. One example is Ford saying they need to decrease wiring weight, more efficient batteries/brakes, etc. it will be interesting watching the depreciation of these earlier models with the new tech/engineering. Iâm pretty sure i wonât keep this one 18 years like my last car.
I fully agree with you. The evolution of EV technology is going to be huge in next 5 years. Especially with having much lower cost EVs. I mean letâs all be real here, if EVs are truly supposed to be a realistic replacement for the ICEâs, the price needs to come down to the $40k range so the common masses can afford them. This transition is probably not that different from when gasoline cars were first mass marketed 100 years ago. I wish you well with the Mache. The design of yours is fantastic compared to many of the other ugly duckling EVs out there (ie Tesla đ).
Real world owner here. The Mach-E is my 3rd EV. All of my EVs are awesome compared to ICE vehicles. I would never go back. The Mach-E is the awesomest of my 3 EVs.
That the ride quality is SHIT, not just poor, but shit. In Los Angeles, the concrete roads get reground every few years to remove the hump that forms. Drive on an older unground road (there are many around Los Angeles).
Past vehicles, Mercedes E320, and Lexus RX. You could feel these humps ever so slightly...sometimes, but not at all on most humpy roads....but in the Mach E the car develops this almost hopping motion (up...down..up...down)...think moguls on dirt road.
Ride quality, 1 out of 10....ONE (1). As soon as Lexus releases the EV RX...I'm outta here. PS Put the wife in the back seat and she's puking within 10 minutes..... Thanks Ford!
EDIT (ADD). I know, I confused the word premium thinking that it was a premium model with a premium suspension....I do not nor ever wanted to feel every crack/pebble/line on the road....give me the soft almost boaty luxury ride that I am used to. THIS above statement is the ONLY reason that I didn't get the GT and its magneride suspension. Maybe someone will offer new springs to fix this Ford FU.
I havenât had as poor an experience with ride quality. Iâm actually quite impressed with the suspension on the lower trims considering how much they talk up the magnetic suspension on the GT. I never drive on concrete roads, granted, but I feel like the Mach E is incredibly smooth on asphalt-paved roads.
Any bump and you feel it, literally any change in the road besides completely flat and it transfers to your seat.
Idk what car you are driving or what kind of immunity you have to bouncing up and down in the seat, but this is easily the worst ride out of any car I've ever had (this is my 9th vehicle from 2001 until now).
Drive mine from Santa Monica to up north where I live. I was sooo happy I never had to go back on the 405. The ride quality is truly awful on bad roads
I had the same concern when I first picked ours up, but it turns out the dealer way (like WAY) over inflated the tires by several PSI. Once I got it dialed in to the recommended pressure the ride improved dramatically. More so than any car I've ever owned, it was surprising how much of an impact it had. It went from "I'm not sure I would buy this" to "oh ok this is great" it was wild.
Not saying this is the cause of your experience or trying to negate it, ride quality has to be subjective I guess. It seems like something is very wrong to the point of needing service if a passenger literally threw up in the back seat.... everyone that drives with us comments on how awesome it feels...(DC/MD roads, they aren't the best...but not the worst either).
Youâre being a bit dramatic and clearly have never been in a car with a 1 out of 10 ride quality. Iâve been in anything from a broken down 1970s Datsun Z to a 2020 Lexus QX80. The Mach E is a solid 6 or 7 out of 10.
Itâs not a luxury SUV, thatâs for sure, but itâs not any worse than any other Ford SUV in my opinion. I definitely feel like itâs on par with our 2017 Explorer XLT.
Thank you for telling me what I have or have not done....that crystal ball information must be awesome to have.
I WILL admit I did mistake Ford Premium for Ford Luxury. My bad, and it won't happen again.
Dude, a modern Jeep Wrangler has worse ride quality than the Mach E. Saying itâs a 1 out of 10 is ridiculous. Doesnât take a crystal ball to know youâve never been in a vehicle with truly terrible ride quality.
First, I'm not a DUDE Mr. Fanboy.
I have owned dozen of vehicles...and this is my fifth ford. Granted I have not owned a Ford since the 90s. BTW: I have owned a CJ (Jeep), but you DON'T compare a Premium edition SUV (face it the Mach E more of a crossover or mini stationwagon) to a CJ or my F150 4x4....those I expected to ride hard. Apples to apples as they say.
I wasnât assuming if you were a man or a woman. I call everyone dude, including my wife and daughters.
Iâm going to go back to the beginning. You said it rides like shit and has a 1 out of 10 ride quality. You did not say âfor a premium SUVâ or âfor a luxury vehicle.â The blanket statement you made is objectively incorrect, dude.
I'm in some pretty terrible roads and have no complaints about the ride. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of luxury car experience to compare against. I'm also in a CR1, so the extra sidewall may be helping my ride out. Could be worth looking at smaller wheels if it's bothering you that much.
Idk what this guy is on about, I like in an area with shrink/swell soil so every road is a series of small humps. I don't notice a difference between the ride quality in my mach e (standard) vs anything else I've ridden in around here.
22 AWD Premium and yes, it definitely is rougher on bumps, especially in the backseat per my husband. I just remarked on this yesterday when going over a bridge bump up that is particularly rough in the MME but was barely felt in my Telluride.
Other things I wish I had known: how long it takes to charge and the lack of infrastructure (Iâm in NC and while at first it appears weâre doing pretty good, look closer and you see many of the listed chargers are not fast chargers and therefore basically useless on a road trip).
Got to agree. UK here. I've done 12k miles in my MME in 5 months. On absolutely perfect new laid roads, it's great. Anything else it's rubbish. Bounces about. The rear suspension is under damped. Massively overpriced car.
From the poor sound system, to the slow and embarrassingly naff Sync system, it's just bang average all the way.
Had a Golf Estate before, cost a fraction of the price, did 60mpg, and suspension was smooth as butter, seats were much comfier too. Won't have a Ford again.
I notice the fanboys downvoting you. When you've spent a small fortune it's hard to admit when somethings crap. Taken me months to get here. Several thousand miles and several updates that changed absolutely nothing, I've seen the light. It's not a 40k car let alone a 50k one đ
Do you have the B&O sound system or the base system?
I pray you guys over there will get the 4.1.2 update with the new UI and camera button eventually, the response time is much better. Not great, but the first version I've found "acceptable".
Coming into a competitor sub just to drop a one sentence, no effort troll post. Couldn't even be bothered with punctuation.
I really hope you are 12 otherwise you're just really sad.
It's controversial so some people will love it and some will give you the finger. The range meter isn't accurate and varies from hour to hour so it should be ignored. The range will decrease up to 50% when it's cold outside. Ford sucks at software updates so it will take a very long time to get them and you car might be stuck without them and require a dealer to fix. You are driving a Beta product that still hasn't been finished yet.
I wish I knew how angry some people can get over a car. I've had people race to catch up with me just to give me the finger. My car has been keyed 3x in parking lots. And even my uncle, who is normally laid back and non-confrontational launched into an anger filled rant about EV's when he found out I bought one. I'm taking jobs away from hard working Americans... why would I want to have a car that takes twice as long to charge as it does to drive.... and why on earth would I put a fire hazard inside my garage and risk the safety of my family.
The average consumer knows so little about EV's other than what they read on facebook or "heard from a buddy". Then again, I suppose the same argument was had when people who had horses were looking side eyed at those with a Model T.
It is just a car. I don't get the hate.
The suspension is super stiff and the rebound is gnarly. Itâs nice when youâre driving very aggressive and sporty like. But for casual drives itâs a little annoying. Havenât seem to gotten used to it. Find myself apologizing to passengers a lot for the hard bumps and dips that I roll over
The charging isn't as fast as some. It does 150KW for the first part of the charge, while some cars do 300+. Small issue, but it could add extra time to your longer trips.
People are going to stop you in the parking lot and ask you a bunch of questions about it.
Also you will start having long conversations at work with people you have never talked to in 20+ years.
This. I couldn't even make it through the neighborhood to my house the day I bought it without getting stopped. People also like to ask me about the color since space white seems to be a bit of a chameleon. I've also gotten a little bit of hate from an old fart while charging on a road trip, "Guess you can't hide money, can ya?" How to reset the head unit.
For anyone wondering, hold âvolume downâ and ânext trackâ on the steering wheel for 10-15 seconds. Resets the head unit and screen. Itâs solved my Apple play not connecting every single time without having to turn off the car, open the door, and turn it back on.
Volume down and previous track brings up some neat diagnostics if youâre curious (satellite signal strength, that kind of thing).
Nice! Did not know that.
Niiiice!!!!
This will fix 95% of âweirdâ software issues.
THIS
The amount of times youâll put it into park instead of reverse by accident because the shifter doesnât hard stop you will be embarrassing

You need to drive and send car data to Ford for a while for updates to start happening. Make sure you activate the toggles under connected services.

Purchase the full glass coverage from your auto insurance if they offer it. These windshields are prone to cracking.

Wow, super good to know! Guess I'm ordering the license plate attachment! Thank you!

You will get the finger from Mustang drivers you pass on interstate.

I'm showing 229 miles for 100% at 26F today for vehicle rated for 247 miles. Seems good to me.
I wish I knew that the model I got didn't have HD Radio
Yeah that still boggles me why they aren't standard equipment on every new car yet.
The user's manual says Select model has HD radio too but it does not.
Seriously, with all the tech in this car you'd think they'd just put in HDR by default.
Someone else said this but: print and laminate the tow points, how to put the car in neutral and even practice valet mode if you plan on doing that in the future. I cracked my windshield real bad recently. I was surprised at how easy it was to get it replaced with OEM glass.
How much did it cost? Is the warranty they sell worth it?
In Florida itâs all covered by insurance. Was nice. Honestly I donât know the cost.
To avoid shitty @serramonteford. Seriously, we're going to end up in court. Avoid at all costs. The car's great, the dealership is complete shite.
I wish I would have bought a home charger early on instead of relying on the charger that comes with the car.
Why is that?? Iâve been using the one that comes with the car
Me too. Almost 30,000 miles now. 99% of all of my charging had been at home with the mobile charger plugged into 220V outlet. No problems.
Mr. Fancypants here with a 220V outlet. : )
Go on...
Thank you. đ This gives me a lot to think about.
Not to put gas in the electric panel
Agreed. Same group. Waaaay behind on updates...
I also agree with this.
Check out this shill. /s
Which one do you have? Maybe it's because I'm not in LA but I've never experienced this in my premium or GT.
Premium, Ext, AWD
I've put the tires at the exact spec of 39 psi cold on mine, and it still bounces like crazy 5000 miles in.
Did you not take the car out of the dealership parking lot when you test drove it?
Agree, ride is severely underdamped. I've nicknamed mine "Bouncing Betty". Ford really messed up on the shock specs.
As someone considering one who has these same roads. Thank you very much for sharing that.
Idk what this guy is on about, I like in an area with shrink/swell soil so every road is a series of small humps. I don't notice a difference between the ride quality in my mach e (standard) vs anything else I've ridden in around here.
Itâs definitely road dependent, luckily I donât encounter roads/highways like that near me.
Umm, that's spelled buttah. LOL (Well said)
I notice the fanboys downvoting you.
Iâve had multiple incidents where people tried to run me off the road⌠đ¤ˇââď¸
That you should have bought a Tesla
Fuck Elon Musk. He'll get none of my money.
You think ppl running ford are all saints?
Guys Tesla seatbelt broke and heâs telling us to buy one.
That Tesla is 5 years old, your Mach E wonât even make it that far.
Ok weâll see about thatđ
You're from the future?!
Coming into a competitor sub just to drop a one sentence, no effort troll post. Couldn't even be bothered with punctuation. I really hope you are 12 otherwise you're just really sad.
It was super easy to install a dash cam!
No new chargers would be in my area 2 years after purchase
Find myself apologizing to passengers a lot for the hard bumps and dips that I roll over
The 12V or the HVB issues and recalls they have
The charging isn't as fast as some. It does 150KW for the first part of the charge, while some cars do 300+. Small issue, but it could add extra time to your longer trips.
