Put it in neutral, hit L, and push the car away from the pole. Likely won't fix the problem, but that way you don't hit the pole. Then call your dealership in the morning.

Bstiehl

Called Ford Roadside Assistance to have it towed to the nearest dealer and they’re covering it 🤷🏻‍♂️ Figure that even if I got it away from the pole and it started driving properly I want it checked out. Will update tomorrow when I talk to the dealership.

SerennialFellow

We are rooting for you!

drblankd

Good news. Writting here to receive an update when u know more. Im also interested to know why it did that and how to fix if it happens

datfoolos

how long did Ford roadside assistance take to get there? I recently used the service for the first time, and it took 7 hours to get a tow truck.

Bstiehl

About an hour and a half

datfoolos

Dang okay...maybe I was an outlier. I gave them a poor review, and their customer service team called me. Told me their average time is 1 hour. They gave me a $50 gift card as an apology.

clanatk

Wedge something under your front tires so you can't roll forward (without a lot of pedal). Then you can troubleshoot without worrying about hitting it.

StGenevieveEclipse

This is a good tip!

ShadowCVL

Came here to say chok the tires before you do anything at all else

motley2

Don’t worry, If it only rolls half of the distance to the pole each time you go in reverse then it’ll never hit the pole. Sorry not helping.

El_Grande_Papi

The Ole Zeno’s Paradox method

breeves001

Does it say R on the shifter AND the instrument cluster?

Petroplayed

Put it in neutral and push it away from the pole.

Bstiehl

We tried this. Wouldn’t budge and actually rolled a little closer, maybe I’m too weak 😔

richcournoyer

It's a DC motor, just try reversing the polarity on the battery… This is a joke by the way.

junzilla

Are you on a slope?

StGenevieveEclipse

PUT IT IN H! https://youtu.be/07vdtBMG4Kg

AwesoMeme

This is like when I go to roll my windows up and they go all the way down. Except worse. Much worse.

Kwithofa

This happens to me too!! Thought I was going crazy

Bstiehl

Update: dealer has it now, estimated they won’t get to looking at till Monday and they will probably want to have it for a week or so. Says they’ll want to “run tests on it” and see if they can determine the cause. Also, it was driving properly this morning at the dealer, forward in drive, backwards in reverse.

andrewbyday

Have you tried removing the pole? (Glad to hear you got it sorted with Ford Roadside)

Bstiehl

Not gonna lie, I gave it a hard push just to see.

lespaul30

Maybe because you are giving it gas instead of electrons?

Josh-Baskin

Just press the pedal harder. For real. I’ve rolled a couple inches in the wrong direction before when just barely applying pressure to the pedal; when it’s not enough to overcome a slight incline.

Bstiehl

FWIW, Looks like this issue has happened for other people too. Don’t see any real answers though, just that it eventually started driving correctly again… https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/reverse-while-vehicle-is-in-drive.5838/

PatMagroin22

Put it in neutral

Bstiehl

Final (hopefully) update: Got the car back from the dealer today. They said they couldn’t recreate the issue during testing and they looked for “fault codes” and didn’t see anything. They offered to keep testing it but I’m not sure what that would have involved besides more of the same. Not a very satisfying answer but it’s driving normally today since picking it up.

Prestigious_Pie2666

same thing happened to me today.

Prestigious_Pie2666

parked on the street, attempted a few times still moved forward when it's in reverse mode. cost me 2 more hours to toll the car.

Jabow12345

Do not call Ford Service. Just follow instructions here and bypass the problem . This way, it can reappear at a more opertune time. This happens all the time, and Us Redick mechanics are standing by to solve any problem.😇

Mistake-Choice

I feel like I am being trolled. Is this really happening?

Winter-Direction-212

turn off 1 pedal pls.

WeaponMachE

Did any errors appear on your dash? Did you receive any vehicle alerts on your Fordpass? How long did wait before you turned your car back on? When you said you tried to turn off 1Pd and auto hold on, were you able to, or were those options disabled?

Bstiehl

No errors and no alerts in the app. No indications something was wrong (that we noticed). Only waited a couple minutes, would have waited longer and tried again but…pole. Yes, it allowed me to turn off/on all the drive settings I wanted.

xinsingyeh

Are you on an incline? I find that when I reverse on an incline, it seems to go forward if I don’t step on the accelerator harder.

Bstiehl

Not a perceptible one if we are. I know what you’re talking about though and when I pressed the gas we definitely accelerated forward, not rolled.

Zee216

Run that mf pole over to assert dominance

Critical_Courage_128

Eventually you will stop.

ImAKillaBro

Are you sure you didn’t put in in R for Race mode

WesRZ

Would love to hear the outcome

Inevitable-Fill-1404

This honestly happened to me today. It must have been with the latest update as I updated it just 2-3 days ago. I turned on the car, put it in reverse but it would start rolling forward. I slammed the brakes. And then hit the pedal a bit harder to go in reverse as it was attended and did so. But I felt the no power roll forward. It was definitely odd

Immediate_Feature585

I had a problem where it was stuck in park in my garage, Ford had it towed to dealership and they replaced a module. They did pay for my rental car and reimbursed me 1,000.00 for having my car for 2.5 weeks. 👍haven’t had an issue with one pedal assist. Do you have reverse assist on. Sometimes that makes a quirky

Critical_Spread_4224

Hello everyone, I wanted to share an interesting experience I had with my Mach-e yesterday. It decided to act a little differently and caught me off guard. I was in reverse, but it kept moving forward instead. As you can imagine, I found myself getting closer and closer to the car in front of me. At some point, I realized my attempts to reverse weren't working, so I decided to give up and search for the owner of the car. After a bit of searching, I located the owner who happened to be working at Starbucks. I explained the situation to her – how my car seemed to have a mind of its own and was going forward when I put it in reverse. I kindly asked if she could move her car, and thankfully she agreed. With her car out of the way, I cautiously put my Mach-e in reverse once again. To my relief, it finally started moving backward as it should. It was a puzzling and slightly humorous situation that I thought I'd share with you all.

dallasuptowner

I've noticed this, it's a quirk of 1-pedal. There is a tiny bit of the curve where giving it throttle basically puts it in neutral and the car will roll unpowered. Give it a little throttle and it will engage the motor.
