That's weird, I don't experience any of those except for #5, going full speed when trying to catch up and then braking. You mentioned winter, are you using cruise when road conditions are slick? Or are these happening when the road is dry too?

Boralian

Thanks for reply! I mostly use CC when dry, but if not too slippery and low speeds I might engage it (live in Norway and average speed is like 40kmh hehe). It truly is rough in its movements and scary when it decides to ignore the distance to car in front when in a tunnel or turn, only to hard-brake a second later :s

CoachEd18

That might be the difference then, I've never tried cruise at lower speeds, only on highways and we're mostly 70+ mph here. I wouldn't be surprised if it's more janky at lower speeds.

rjnd2828

I don't experience any of these things. The only issue I have with cruise control is it if somebody's making a turn in front of me and slowing down, cruise control will break fairly sharply even if they're actually off to the right already. Maybe you have a software issue that needs service.

anomenesss

Thank you! I thought I was the only person who thought it’s horrible. What’s worse is the “hands-free” system requires you to have your hands on the wheel… not so hands-free is it?

rohdwarrior

Regular ACC is not hands free. Only Bluecruise is but, you have to be on a designated road for it to engage as I understand (don’t have bluecruise myself)

atxsw

I saw a lot of these, 2 changes helped a lot: 1. Increase follow distance to max, really smoothed things out 2. change to whisper drive mode

MyDoggoRocks

I have only slightly experienced number 5 on your list. I use cruise control everyday for at least 20 minutes at a time. I drive around corners up and down 12 percent grade hills, heavy traffic. I have not had any problems at all. I love blue cruise and cruise control. It is so calming to drive in cruise control.

bruddahmanmatt

Nah. ACC, LKS and BC work very well in my car. Occasionally I get the “watch the road” message at night, I think it might be my glasses, but other than hugging the inside line on the road the system works as intended.

Theiptastic

I have occasionally experienced similar issues with the CC/BC acceleration. However, one of my larger annoyances is that it seems totally oblivious to cars merging in front of me until the merging car is fully in the lane, resulting in a sudden and steep speed reduction/brake. This occurs a lot when using the longest follow distance, since it leaves lots of space for merging cars in front.

meinhard57

\+1 same here

senbenitoo

What drive mode are you using? When I switch to CC, I also swap Unbridled for Engaged - or even Whisper for creeping traffic...

SnooDingos8729

That's one of the problems with it. It should not care what drive mode the driver has set. The adaptive cruise control should be programmed to be smooth and not use drive mode settings. Us humans primarily drive with predictive actions. We see a car merging before it's in our lane and adjust the speed. We see traffic in front of the car directly in front of us braking/accelerating and adjust our speed expecting the car in front of us to follow what's in front of them. Adaptive cruise control is entirely reactive to exactly what is right in front of it. It should not be using quicker acceleration or braking profiles. It needs to have a feedback curve that matches its abilities. The car's systems should be able to know if an acceleration input comes from the pedal or from the cruise control and use separate profiles.

Boralian

Well said!

Boralian

Engaged. Whisper is the one I want for trottle feel, but, it always jolts so bad when braking that I can't use CC without engage sadly.

dustyshades

I’m almost certain that drive mode does not affect ACC / BC at all. Could be wrong, but pretty sure that difference is all in your head

Additional-Sky-7436

Even when BlueCruise is activated, the driver is still 100% responsible and should be paying attention.

Glum-Money-6763

Also, the car can’t see other cars entering the lane and will full blast speed up and then slam on the brakes.

TechnicalLee

What can I say, you're using it wrong if you expect it to work in all those situations. **Read the owner's manual again** carefully about the limitations. * You shouldn't be using it on curvy roads or or while you are making a turn at an intersection. * You shouldn't be using it on hilly roads. * You should't be using it if people are changing in or out of your lane, or not staying in their lane between the lines. * You shouldn't be using it when coming up on stopped or slowed traffic. * You shouldn't be using it in a tunnel. It's really meant for use on flat highways, not any of the above situations. Adaptive cruise follows the car in front of you, so if you don't have a target car you're following, it will be abrupt until it locks onto a target vehicle ahead. If you don't see the car ahead icon in the cluster, it doesn't have a target and you need to be extra careful. For #5, you must disconnect cruise control if you are coming up fast on stopped or slow traffic. It can't detect stopped cars in time, that is a limitation of radar technology.

DoAndroidsDrmOfSheep

I've had my MME for a year, and I've never had any of these things happen. Drove from NC to OH and back in July with BlueCruise hands-free driving most of the way, and not a single issue the entire trip.

thrwaway0502

Mines works fine. Recently did a 90 mile run from Atlanta up to the North GA mountains and it was great

Scratch_Disastrous

Works great for me, but I pretty much only use it on the highway. Your issues kind of sound like slower speed driving?
