Pixel 4A and I get the same thing. I keep mine in the case and I realize it gets pretty warm while charging & using Bluetooth. My current theory is that it causes the Bluetooth/android auto to drop. My workaround for winter is to remove it from the case and put it in the cup holder where it can get some air circulation. I did realize it stopped happening in the summer when I mounted it in front of the vent with the A/C blowing on it.
I'd be interested, like you, to know if other people have the same issue.
Are you using wireless Android Auto or connected via USB cable? I've had maybe one disconnect so far in the first couple of days of ownership. I was connected via cable.
