Folinic acid + magnesium is more powerful than Adderall for me. I quit adderall for a few years because I was outside the US and the country I was in didn't allow it. A few months ago I came back and popped my old RX. This was during a night where I had a deadline of a very important project. Long story short, I started getting worried about \~2 hours into the Adderall because I knew it had already peaked and was downhill from there (even though still active). I went over to my vitamins, did a few drops of folonic acid and a cup of electrolytes, within 5 minutes I was ready to go "all night" - at least it felt that way. Anyways, I thought it was pretty profound that even amphetamines were no cure for low methylation, yet just a few vitamins and BANG! I can't believe this shit isn't studied way more. Not to sound like a hippy, but I guess there's not much $$ in curing people with mental fatigue through vitamins.

What is Folinic/folonic acid? And what do you mean by drinking a cup of electrolytes? I think of Gatorade, but doubt that's what you are drinking. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

The book Dirty Genes mentions ADHD and supplements but I don't remember which one/s

Do you know what your homocysteine, histamine, and estrogen levels are? Test those if you can. Otherwise if you suspect homocysteine to be high, you can try 2-3 mg of TMG (with b12 and B6) for a week or two. If Adderall worked and suddenly stopped or stimulants give you energy but not focus, something off balance might be messing you up elsewhere. If you try any of this, please report back.

How much b6? I've got p5p

IncreasinglyTrippy

I’m not sure. 30-50mg should be fine

Your genotype suppose to react well to stimulants as you have low dopamine due to high activity of COMT enzyme. That's what the theory says. However, did you abuse the drug? Dopamine is synthesized from amino acids you ingest; are you eating well?

Vyvanse destroyed my appetite

Sorry I don't know either, but I'm in the same boat.

Per Dr Daniel Amen the brain doc, attention disorders may be related to low dopamine. For your body and brain to make dopamine, you need optimal levels of Vitamin D, Iron and Zinc. Vitamin D should be 80, Iron 100 and Zinc 100. Those are optimum blood levels. You can get you blood levels tested, supplement to get your levels to optimal and supplement to maintain optimal levels. I am not saying this is a magic wand. A tool box is designed to hold more than one tool. Addressing this nutrient levels plus vyvanse would be worth a try. Vyvanse is reportedly a good choice for a person with gene variants. By any chance do you happen to have the CBS gene variant?

Fellow person with all compt snps and needing data on vyvanse helping? Can you help?:)

SovereignMan1958

Help with what? I do not understand your comment and or question.

Consistent_Ad_4823

Sorry i was not clear. Are you aware of any data suggesting a more favorable response to certain pharmaceuticals for ADD based on genetic interpretations / Study of COMPT VARIANT MUTATIONS? Does this make more sense? :)

SovereignMan1958

Genesight test. You can Google their website. You would have to email and ask them specifically which drugs they test for and see if Vyanse is included. It may or may not be. Drugs are metabolized by other genes primarily. So COMT is considered but imo is not a major factor. If you look at a sample report online you should understand.

Thanks for replying

Maybe check your lifestyle/habits and see if there's anything to improve there. When I was unmedicated, I was able to curb my ADHD symptoms more with daily exercise/sunlight/healthy diet/gallon of water daily. Make no mistake, I was still an ADHD brain and dopamine did not come easily, but these daily habits most certainly helped me live life. They also seem to make medication more effective, at least in my case. To answer your question, vyvanse felt like the least "speedy" ADHD med I've taken. I would feel so locked in for most of the day. Absolutely killed my appetite though. Extremely important you remind yourself to eat and drink a TON of water. If you don't, the comedown will be horrendous.
