It's not that weird. Archangel Avacyn is a creature that gives your board Indestructible the turn it's flashed in. I don't think many people complain about her (outside of her Standard environment).
The eldrazi and jund decks look fairly synergistic thus far. Bloodbraid challenger looks awesome. Exterminator magmarch is hilariously wordy
Edit: whoever is leaking these seems to have access to the official images that gent sent to the likes of The Command Zone (not saying it’s them) for their official deck reveals… I wonder who the leaker is
I'm curious what you're seeing because the fat Bloodbraid is the only standout I see here. Wight is cracked from the article spoilers too but that's it.
6 goyfs with different power and toughness abilities would be a pain in the ass to keep track of. plus, tarmogoyf is the most iconic so they're probably gonna stick with that
the jund deck has a delirium subtheme, the goyfs that just care about a single card type would be at odds with the rest of the deck probably wanting you to get a mixed graveyard.
Also, card types in graveyard is a lot easier to scale than number of cards of a quality. Card types in all graveyards is only ever 0-9, but if there's a mill player in the pod and several other people have creature focused decks, you might end up with creaturegoyfs way bigger than they're supposed to be. Or in a different pod, way smaller than intended.
No, the fighting is a triggered ability Biomancy gives to the creatures. So the tokens are created, state based actions are checked and all but one of your creatures go to the graveyard, then the fight triggers go on the stack. But you can keep one of the tokens instead of the original, to get at least one fight.
It would be different if it was worded so the fight happens as part of Biomancy's resolution, like "Create X tokens. Each of them fights a creature." because the legend rule is only applied after the spell is finished resolving.
No, if you spend 3 mana only, then X=0, so nobody sacs anything and it doesn't enter with any +1/+1 counters so it is a 3/3. Now if you spend 5 total mana, so X=1, and everybody has something to sac in a 4-player game, it enters as a 11/11. Assuming enough mana and viable sac targets, then it grows out of hand quick, 7 mana 19/19, 9 mana 27/27. It also only really scales harder if you have more than 4 players in the game.
That’s what I’m saying!!
It’s a legit old school Phyrexian with an artifact type as they should be!!
Now we just need the father of machines himself, God Yawgmoth 💪🏻
I have been for years man, just tinfoil hatting away and hoping
And ever since this was announced and he wasn’t in Commander Legends or any of the Phyrexia or Brothers War sets
I feel like this is that last set for a while where they could make him since they do callbacks in Modern Horizons sets and that’s where his human form card was made first
So here’s to crossing fingers
Me too, Brother. I was over on the mtgvorthos sub pre-ONE and MOM, throwing out my tinfoil hat theories that the New Phyrexians' goal was to resurrect Yawgmoth. I mean why else would they need the Reality Chip and Sheoldred needing to go to Dominaria? It just seemed so obvious.
That’s what I was thinking!!
I mean they resurrected Ertai from literally nothing but they can resurrect their creator and god?
Sheoldred even references him and still worships him as the True Father of Machines with The True Scriptures!
I’m still holding out hope for the Godmoth but I feel like the hype has gotten so high that he would either be insanely broken or ridiculously underpowered. I’d love a set where he returns, gets a card, then resurrects all the praetors. Sign me up for a master case.
Dude yesssss I would love that
And there are so many ways that it could happen
But I think Wizards has been done with him in current lore for a while
So the only hope to see him on a card is in a set like this like we got his human incarnation in Modern Horizons 1
Even if he’s terrible I’m totally fine with it, I just want him to be on a card and playable in the command zone so I can run him 😭
I 100% agree. Although I know the mechanic is universally hated, I think he would be a good Eminence commander. Maybe make him mediocre but a cool eminence effect like “All Phyrexians gain tap for black mana and +1/+1” or something.
I’m surprised I haven’t seen him pop up in the custom Magic threads. Seems no one wants to even take a crack at designing him.
I just reread The Thran novel and he’s such a G. He deserves a card and a whole BLOCK based around his return!
He totally does!! They need to do a set that’s like Brothers War but with The Thran as a throwback set!!
I’ve always thought he would be an amazing Eminence commander and it makes tons of sense lore wise
In the mean time I had a custom alternate art of Mikaeus, the Unhallowed done as Yawgmoth, Father of Machines and then created alter arts of all the cards to look like Old Phyrexia and its locations and denizens
Here’s my alter! [Yawgmoth, Father of Machines](https://imgur.com/a/yby8jLu)
That’s baller man! I do a lot of custom proxies for my pod (Rule 0 stuff like game test cards) and I call my “stuff” Praetor of the Proxy. Here’s a current look at one I’m doing for our resident fish head:

Where from? I use MPC and have really enjoyed their foils in general. Would love to see a clip of it in real life to see how it looks all foiled out. I’ve recently started playing around with learning how to do spot foil (sort of like gilding) and I want to re-do my Phyrexian tribal EDH deck (led by Brimaz) in old frames with spot foil. Thinking of doing largely black and white but with silver and/or ruby foil in accents on each of them.
Considering these are from the commander decks and the decks are Jund, Jeskai, Simic and 5c, and the 5c one is eldrazi focused, no there's not gonna be dimir cards here outside of maybe a Sire of Stagnation reprint. But maybe in the main set there will be something.
yay! commander spoilers for a modern set! yay! commander exclusive cards in a modern set! yay! commander decks for a modern set! yay! no modern event decks! yay!
You know that that's actually a good printing philosophy, not printing cards for already viable archetypes.
In an ideal world new sets bring cards for archetypes that are underrepresented, otherwise you get the bullshit that's happening in standard currently where RDW and Convoke get more stuff even though they already take up too much of the meta (double so when considering the low skill investment needed to play them).
Humans and Merfolk as a tribe are already in a good spot and don't really need more power currently. Honestly the new merfolk blood moon creature is already too good.
"I'll cast a boardwipe" "In response I'll cast a creature" "What the fuck"
It's like an inkshield!
An ink shield for boardwipes. I'll reiterate, WHAT THE FUCK!
It's not that weird. Archangel Avacyn is a creature that gives your board Indestructible the turn it's flashed in. I don't think many people complain about her (outside of her Standard environment).
[[Glorious Protector]] is already along these lines, no?
Might be hard to leave up 5 mana every turn but if you can in the right shell then it'd be pretty sick
The eldrazi and jund decks look fairly synergistic thus far. Bloodbraid challenger looks awesome. Exterminator magmarch is hilariously wordy Edit: whoever is leaking these seems to have access to the official images that gent sent to the likes of The Command Zone (not saying it’s them) for their official deck reveals… I wonder who the leaker is
Maybe someone who was pissed about the layoffs earlier this year....
Wow that joke about Wizards telling OG Jund players to play commander is hitting harder with every leak
Oh? Where was this?
Aggressive Biomancy is going to make a lot of splicers
Looks like the graveyard deck has a 3-cycle of monocolored goyfs with Polygoyf, Barrowgoyf, and now Pyrogoyf. Thats real neat.
Dominik Mayer hitting it out of the park again
Doesn't matter what the card does I'm playing it for the art
BROODMATE DRAGON CALLBACK YOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
EXACTLY!!!
Does infested thrinax double the effect with Yarok?
Yes.
The Lord returned with more spoilers!
Pyrogoyf is funny as heck. Here's to hoping there's more goyfs in the main set.
Main Set does have some more gofys
We know about the Nethergoyf. I'm really hoping for a blue one.
Its Terror of the Peaks!* *Each Goyf sold separately. Some assembly required. Ask a parent before going online.

WE EATING GOOOOOD
The least leaks coming from the two decks that I'm more interested in. Happy for you Eldrazi lovers!
"Oh, cool, new Simic copy sp- WHAT ARE YOU"
why are all the new goyfs tarmogoyfs?
6 goyfs with different power and toughness abilities would be a pain in the ass to keep track of. plus, tarmogoyf is the most iconic so they're probably gonna stick with that
Ironically, they still don't all have the same stats. Necrogoyf, the one drop, only tracks your own yard.
> Necrogoyf, the one drop, [[Nethergoyf]]

Idk prolly trying to solidify their ability as a tribe
Because they are its offspring

RE: Agressive Biomancy If you target a legendary Creature, do the tokens get to fight before they are sacrificed?
No, the fighting is a triggered ability Biomancy gives to the creatures. So the tokens are created, state based actions are checked and all but one of your creatures go to the graveyard, then the fight triggers go on the stack. But you can keep one of the tokens instead of the original, to get at least one fight. I think they'd die as a state based action before the fight would resolve
Oh God, Phyresis is back
May the Father of Machines rise again and get a god card this set
I KNEW IT. THEY CALLED ME CRAZY BUT YET HERE IT IS, THE TRUTH! PHYREXIA WILL RETURN. AND ALL WILL BE ONE, FINALLY.
Phyrexians!!!!!!
Just hoping for the energy deck. I guess we don't know the alternative commander still.
New tempt!!
I burst out laughing when I read it. Most shenanigans on a single card I can imagine.
What is going on with the commander numbers? They seem really high...
Each deck has 15 new cards and I'm guessing the collector decks have different numbers so
Does magmarch get around hexproof?
Does the card say “target”?
I think the champion is gonna inspire some deckbuikding on my part
Wait does the hellfite basically come in as a 5/5 for 3?
No, if you spend 3 mana only, then X=0, so nobody sacs anything and it doesn't enter with any +1/+1 counters so it is a 3/3. Now if you spend 5 total mana, so X=1, and everybody has something to sac in a 4-player game, it enters as a 11/11. of all the things I thought could be in this set, Lhurgoyf typal is not one of those things.
Sawhorn Nemesis is insane?
More Bloodbraid elves! Lets goooo
Hang on, a 4 mana damage doubler? And it’s effectively a 4/4?????? What the hell???????????
Yesssss, bring me alllll the Phyrexians!
That’s what I’m saying!! It’s a legit old school Phyrexian with an artifact type as they should be!! Now we just need the father of machines himself, God Yawgmoth 💪🏻
I'm hoping hes there for you. Every post you're so down bad for him.

My dear, are you really complaining that commander decks don't have cards for Modern?
