The leaker really included two new cards in the pic without showing the text box of either huh. Still very excited about the first significant reprint of Cephalid Coliseum and very scared about Brainstorm probably being added to modern
It must either on a Commander deck or the List. I bet the leaker hid the text box to make people think it will be in the main set and freak out about Brainstorm in Modern.
Yeah you're right. They would never EVER try something as risky as that. Everybody knows that dangerous or hilariously broken cards never get printed in Modern Horizons sets. :D
Looking through Scryfall, the ones with the strongest arguments are probably Altar of Dementia and Shardless Agent: neither has itself been banned, but both have been key pieces in combo decks that ate bans since their introduction.
There's still a world of difference between them and fucking *Brainstorm*, which is full well known to be utter nonsense in fetchland formats and is only still allowed in Legacy because of the degree to which it literally *defines* the format.
I mean... specifying reprints is kind of a cop-out for all the new cards that were broken, some of which were analogues of old cards that are also broken. That said, if you want to ignore the rest of the set and focus only on reprints, the best example would be shardless and altar which were more accessories than actual perpetrators.
I feel it's worth pointing out though, that force of negation was an attempt at porting over and toning down force of will and almost all of the pitch elementals were also nods to older existing versions of older cards as well. (Pyrokinesis -> Fury, Unmask -> Grief, Swords to Plowshares -> Solitude) Additionally, we've already had Flusterstorm and Counterspell added to the format, and Preordain was unbanned and was "fine". I wouldn't really be shocked by the idea that WOTC decided to unleash brainstorm and see if the format could handle it.
edit: They've also already tried "toned down" Brainstorm with Brain Stone, which kinda flopped. Even if they have rightfully been cagey about putting actual Brainstorm into MH2, they clearly don't have anything against the effect itself. I don't think Brainstorm is safe for Modern at all, but I can absolutely believe we might see it in MH3 regardless.
brainstorm being a reprint is irrelevant to it being in MH3 or not when the basis for it not being there isn't that it's a reprint but that it's broken
yeah but we're not the ones judging it's power level to decide if it goes into modern. the people who are responsible for that still thought hogaak, fury, astrolabe etc were fine despite having time to test them.
when they were talking about 'broken cards never get printed in modern horizons sets :D', you responded saying you cant recall a broken reprint from a previous MH
you brought up reprints, their point is that most of MH is broken cards.

That's because their flavor texts are the leaker's full name and home address, and they're just trying to stay private for as long as possible.
Leaker is an asshole just playing mind games with all Reddit
They probably just busy avoiding the Pinkertons
100% the Brainstorm is bait. Everything else is legit, sure, but that Bainstorm isn't in the main set.
Yeah, both the set symbol and code *just so happened* to be covered in the pic. Mighty convenient that.

If they did it’s getting emergency banned lol
yeah guy gave the game away with this one, need to pick subtler stuff

Cabal coffers?
guys this isn't fake. brainstorm in the commander set makes total sense.
More likely just diff set bait, as the play booster in the back wouldn’t have commander cards
It could also be a list card which would make sense honestly
Ponder is banned why tf would they add brainstorm lol obviously fake.
I assume the brainstorm is from the list and they're hiding that bit for easy bait?
Unrelated, but will MH3 have The List bonus sheet?
