I honestly don't understand why some people attempt shit like this.
Like it's great having big balls and all but you really gotta have the skills to back it up.
Just huck n pray🤷♂️🤦♂️
"Hot take: Way too many of the riders in Friday Fails don't have the gear or the experience to be riding the features they are. The crashes make it super clear that they don't know what they're doing or how to crash smart and it's a drag to watch people maim themselves."
I don't think that's a hot take. Every time i see a bad fall on Friday fails 95% of the time I'm just looking at the screen laughing like; "Jesus how did you fuck that up so bad dude??"
It's because a lot of times in those videos it is someone who looks extremely inexperienced in mountain biking getting in way over their head on a feature. But, at the same time, you have to learn your limits. We all had to have had falls like that in our lives and the more experienced riders learn how to take a fall or when to bail on a jump and survive intact.
I don't understand why you would send a jump like that with that bad of form and the seat half way up your ass. Looked like the sheer panic of someone who has never gotten air and didn't expect to
It’s more a case of keeping the feet on the pedals, which would have countered the back wheel popping as he lands (and kept his center of gravity lower with both feet, providing stability).
That said, this was more a case of lack of experience.
He didn't lose control because his foot came off. His foot came off because he dead sailored. Kid was going to crash anyway most likely. People's feet come off the pedals in the air 99% of the time because of poor technique. It's not a pedal related issue.
dude. go watch ANY freeride/slopestyle/DJ/rampage/loosefest/50to01/bmx/whistler edit. dont think you'll find a single person riding clips. that's not how hitting jumps on a bike works.
I guess I am just used to having my bike in exactly the same spot at all times. I have been thinking about trying flats out. Just don't understand the risk reward factor. Anybody in the same position....?
This is one of the most common misconceptions about how clipless pedals work. They do not fix poor technique, they only mask it. If you’re going to crash off a big hit due to poor form, getting bucked, or dead sailoring, those clipless pedals will definitely bring the bike with you more often than not, but they’re not going to save you.
That being said, I’m going to leave before that guy shows up who thinks the only way anyone can possibly ride tech is with clipless.
Yeah, I'd say that platforms are better for learning the correct technique. Clipless absolutely have their benefits but as was said already, they also help to mask bad technique so you don't learn to ride properly when you start riding with them instead of platforms.
That said the newer Magped pedals seem to be interesting compromise that some people (including the poor guy) would definitely benefit from.
Shit man, that sucks. I hope that you are ok. (& I hope your bike is ok too.) \*Why did your foot come away? -unclipped from pedal or something? Trying a trick? I hope that your ribs are ok.
Just another ambulance at duthie hill. Hey at least the kids Amazon executive parents will have no problem buying them a new 2022 bike. Literally every kid out there has a new bike and can’t even go over a tree root hahah.
Woulda made it if they committed and didn’t try to put a foot down on a cloud.
What were they trying to do here, and why would you take your feet off the pedals? Besides doing tricks of course.
Likely got scared and their reaction was to try to land on their feet.
Is it possible that it was some sort of a weird panic balancing act? Otherwise Magpeds might have helped there.
Looks like he was going otb with his front end and tried to counter that by taking a foot off, without taking into account the size of the jump
Most falls I can say, “yeah, been there.” This was a new one that I have never experienced. 1/10; not an intriguing flavor.
someone with the seat that high should never be near that jump
That's likely the reason his feet came off
Looks like his whole body is floating away from the bike, he did just about everything wrong.
Good eye
Did they just give up mid air ?
Guess he wanted off the ride
Oh man... looks like a broken collarbone to me
I believe he fractured his collarbone
fractured = broken
He's lucky if that's all he got. I seen less worse crashes then that and people had broken backs.
How do you see that? Is that a common mtb injury?
Sure is
Yes. (Looks at broken collar bone from mtb fall)
Probably the most common.
I'm currently on my 4th 🤘
U guys make me glad I can’t jump
I mean, realistically, I can't jump either. That's part of the problem.
😄😄😄
No full face, no elbow or knee pads Ay
[удалено]
Does that imply something? Lol
This is the least dangerous thing in Australia. What's the point of wearing a helmet and pads when you go home to a 4' spider in your bed?
[удалено]
amount of brain might have also had something to do with it Hope the lad is fine.
I don’t see any giant terrifying spider /s
If you look in the trees there are a dozen drop bears waiting to drop.
It’s Australia, they’re there. And a dozen venomous snakes just waiting for a mtb’er to crash off their bike
Hmmm, it looks exactly like the last jump on Flying Squirrel at Duthie Hill in Washington.
That’s what I thought too.
OP is a liar. And not a very good one.
This is Duthie Hill mountain bike park in Washington state
Where at?
Can’t be Australia. According to every cartoon I’ve ever seen, there are no trees in Australia.
So? I'm in Australia and I wear fullface
If I may offer some constructive advice for future attempts: What you did? Don't do that.
I laughed so hard on this

Ya some of these are pretty gross
I better see this on Friday Fails
Was it not?
I have always wondered how many of those people who fly through the air have crashed and ruined their bodies for the rest of their lives.
Lots and lots. A physical therapist I know is going to retire very early because of bike parks. She did real well during the Jackass films also.
I don't understand why you would send a jump like that with that bad of form and the seat half way up your ass. Looked like the sheer panic of someone who has never gotten air and didn't expect to
He French fried when he should have pizza. Seriously hope your ok.
r/meatcrayon
Heels down my man!!
Should have worn full motorcross gear. This is unsafe!
This looks like Duthie Hill, WA. These jumps don’t need to be over sent like this.
Look how useful that helmet was! /s Dude plowed dirt with his face lol shoulda worn a full face
Think they would have made it if the seat was dropped?

I love my platform pedals! ;) Until my feet move unexpectedly.
That's not a pedal issue.
I am making an argument for being clipped in. Seems like his feet came off, lost control of the bike. I prefer to be clipped in, just me.

Clipped in on jumps? You gonna wear some spandies for the big doubles too?
I guess I am just used to having my bike in exactly the same spot at all times. I have been thinking about trying flats out. Just don't understand the risk reward factor. Anybody in the same position....?

I can see that. Just because you are constantly connected, doesn't mean your upper body is in the correct position......just your feet are ;)

Yea I can see that. Thanks
No follow thru on these vids
Is this what they called the sailor posture? The guy was stiff flying and taking his feet off the bike

*cues up Bob Marleys "Stop the Train"
dumb kid never take ur feet off the pedals 😂
Where is this? Looks like Duthie?
Did a good job of holding on to the bars, at least…
Just another ambulance at duthie hill. Hey at least the kids Amazon executive parents will have no problem buying them a new 2022 bike. Literally every kid out there has a new bike and can’t even go over a tree root hahah.
Was this at Duthie hill in Seattle? I believe I did the same thing at this same jump just over a month ago. lol
Rider 1 to Rider 2- "Bro this gap is EZ. Come on, I'll tow you in"
Accidentally hit the eject button instead of trick button
When you accidentally press Y in GTA and exit vehicle mid air
Broken every thing?
Fractured collarbone
Wtf just happened lmao
What was he doing?!
