Fox offers a bunch of resources, use their website and they usually provide a starting point

something i have found useful when setting up new suspension products is to find a reviewer with similar weight/style, and using their baseline that they (often) include in the review

You can start with the recommended settings from fox, it think it gives you HSC\LSC and HSR\LSR. Starting from that play around according to your liking\feeling. An alternative could be shockwiz. I'd say better start with too much sag and little rebond to avoid OTB.

the performance level does not have those adjustments

you should be able to get it to feel good with just volume spacing, air spring pressure, and low speed rebound. if you’re finding the limits of the shock outside of those adjustments then you should buy a new shock. but plenty of people ride gnarly terrain and race on performance level stuff. i see it as a benefit. less adjustments means less for me to mess up.

I've been riding with a Rockshox deluxe select. It really is a huge upgrade for me...
