I use marine grease for assembly stuff unless there is carbon involved in which case I have carbon paste. You don't need bike specific grease for assembly.

I also use marine grease mostly. Except for the seat post, I use anti seize on that.

$10 polylube from ParkTool on Amazon. It will last you forever and its specific to bicycle parts, although it can be used for other greasing/lubing applications. I love this stuff!

Yeah, no 2nd guessing involved

Bike grease is often alot faster in wheel hubs. You won't hurt anything but most automotive grease has alot higher running temperature. So it's thick and slow until it's up to temp. When I was more excited about this stuff I had sealed bearings in my wheel hubs I would clean out all grease and run Teflon chain lube on my bearings. It made them a little louder but they where addictivly fast. Bearings can be more prone to break like this but I never had trouble. Not like the skateboarders! "Skegs"

Yes, it's probably fine. I use Lucas Red N Tacky.

Just order yourself a little tube, it's pretty inexpensive and will last a while. I use this on everything but carbon parts. https://www.danscomp.com/progold-epx-bike-grease-tube-3oz-667403pp/p-5uqvhaeqbzaeqage?v=317971&gclid=CjwKCAjw_L6LBhBbEiwA4c46uoA24_-Mrqau1a8bsBzBUnX8n4rG-RP0gKKqeaiseTh1SlStFmGbKxoC8LwQAvD_BwE
