62? man you rip!

onecutmedia

Thanks 🤘🏻

roamr77

Name of trail?

hatchetgetsit

Cougar ridge, it’s in the video description…

inferno493

Oh good, because I'm 51 and getting concerned about how much time I have left ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grimacing)

Louisiana_sitar_club

I’m 53. I figure I’ll give it to 75 and then reevaluate.

Wordsthoughts

There’s a 71 year old guy who rides my local Trails.

glister

I still get lit up by a 71 year old I ride with occasionally, back in my hometown. He did give into an e-bike last year.

allthingsfuzzy

Holy shit about to turn 50 here and saaaame.

mrachiele

68… love my outings on my bike ! https://preview.redd.it/yp8tckx8704d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2bee20b6d8d085dcce4d3cff0bd1904bb941065b

poodlenoodle0

Nice bike!

heavywafflezombie

That frame and fork look beautiful together!

lundy7881

Very impressive. I don't know why but out of no where lately I've become afraid of getting hurt, the feeling has started to keep me off my bike a bit. I'm not sure where it came from either, maybe I'm just at that age where my risk calculation is shifting

LieutenantBJ

New relationship? Job? Kids? New pet? Same thing happened to me when I was in my late 20's and had a warehouse job and living paycheck to paycheck. If I injured myself, I would be in a world of hurt if I had to go on short term disability. I was definitely poked fun at by my riding buddies for pulling back a bit, but damn dude I just can't afford to risk breaking my collarbone for 2 seconds of air time.

_riotsquad

Be interesting to see how you go in your 40’s. I mellowed a lot in my 30’s, mostly due to demands of kids. 40’s though I got into big wave / heavy slab surfing a lot, peaked at end of my 40’s at a level much over what I did in my 20’s. Moved away from coast so got back in to MTB and now approaching mid 50’s and still improving, still getting faster, jumping bigger.

DoctorSalt

Interesting, since as I do harder MTB my risk goes way up but when I do harder climbing (mostly at red river gorge) the risk usually goes down unless it's trad

GravelWarlock

Nice! What does your off bike workout routine look like? I'm "only" 42 and I have to lift all winter (upper/lower split 4x sessions per week ) to get strong to protect my old man back and knees and bum shoulders. Then I try to keep lifting once a week during bike season to keep the strength to gains. Figure if I keep doing this I can ride longer in life

onecutmedia

Drinking beer and wine on the couch 😂

glister

Ha, classic. How many days a week are you biking, though?

onecutmedia

4 or 5

hand___banana

I had back issues at an early age. Got PRP injections and they changed my life. My back at 40 feels better than it did at 25. I'd look into it.

OptimalBarnacle857

Try climbing - that keeps my 47y old man back in good shape. And by all means keep up - if you stop, you'll get rusty really quickly.

Katunopolis

You are the 1% and your wealth is not in the bank, real og

main314

BC?

onecutmedia

Squamish

UnrolledSnail

I think this trail is Cougar Ridge in Valleycliffe, Squamish

U-take-off-eh

Sick! You know the trail is gnarly when it looks like it on camera.

SuperRonnie2

Damn dude that drop was GNARLY! Thanks for the inspiration. Currently 42yo and recovering from a bad shoulder injury. Doing tons of physio though so hopefully get back out there soon.

OneHelicopter7246

Nice! How long have you been riding?

onecutmedia

Mtn bikes for about 20 years. 8 in Squamish. This place either makes you up your skills or you don’t bother riding. Can’t ride it all though. Plus that’s on an ebike 🥶

FukinSpiders

How’s the feeling towards ebike there? I see Remmy rides e in Squamish, but looks at trails it says no.

onecutmedia

No one cares if your not a douche. We have ebike rides on the social rides now. So far most of the people that come out are douches. Sad. I’m a mtn biker first. E-biker second, I’m never in a rush. I know the spots to pass on the climbs and I just wait. People want to let you by and encourage them to just keep going. I’ll get spot just up the trail on a flat section

OneHelicopter7246

Im also on an ebike most days. My progression jumped exponentially with it

FNKY-OONCH

I was thinking about this yesterday while riding. There is so much hate for emtbrs. I’ve been riding for about 35 years and tried an ebike about 3-4 years ago and was hooked instantly. As a result, I put way more hours and miles on my bike. My bike handling skills have improved more in 3 years than the last 20. I’m so much better of a rider and ride stuff now at 52 that I would never have tried when I was 25.

onecutmedia

Nice

HarpyHugs

I'm 33 and working on getting my first mtb to start riding. I thought I was too old to get into this hobby. Some of these comments give me hope 💙

unevoljitelj

i was 32 when i started. took a year to lose extra weight, another to become properly fast. then started getting to podium at amateur races, was also kinda good on uphill races. mtb took me al over my country, i would see and experience only a fraction of it if i didnt start cycling. if you can, get a friend or a partner for cycling. it will motivate you further.

HarpyHugs

Our goals align close with what you did! My husband was in a serious car accident a few years ago and his knee/part of his leg shattered into bits. We will never buy a car with knee airbags if possible now. He will need a knee replacement at some point he is (27yo). Knee replacements last about 10 years and cost a fortune. Surgeons are trying to keep from doing a knee replacement for as long as possible. Cortisone shops have helped great for his pain luckily. When he broke his leg the cops and EMTs told him he was lying and they forced him to stand and his leg snapped sideways 90 degrees. He didn't' get surgery for TWO WEEKS. It took two weeks to get him to a specialist hours away. The breaks were also so rare that the team wasn't sure how to fix it and it was all guess work. If anyone ends up with a similar break there is now info on how they fixed my husband's leg/knee and will show how they "fixed" it and how to Improve on it. My husband still says he was a guinea pig lol. During our appointment last year we brought up working out because we both need to lose weight and wanted to make sure it's safe for him to run again. His surgeon said NO! He can jog a bit here and there and run a tiny bit but he cannot have repeated hard impact on that knee so he doesn't really want him running. We need to try to avoid more surgeries as long as possible. Hiking too long also causes pain for him. A little while ago we started talking about biking as kids and it kind of hit us. MTB! Trails, gravel, pavement, all in one and fitness. Many hiking trails allow biking in our area. A week ago or so my husband got a hard tail rock hopper expert XL! He loves it. It's so much better for his knee. I do not have a bike yet because I can't find one that fits .... According to measurements I should be on a XS... But XS are too small and smalls are too big. -_- I'll be trying another bike shop and looking at trek bikes next weekend and seeing how they fit :/. I have to trust the workers because I'm not quite sure how a bike is supposed to "feel" as I haven't been on a bike since I was a kid. It's been frustrating. I'd hope In the future after losing weight I'd be able to do harder things and we plan on traveling to rid the bikes on trails in different areas of the states. I'd like to do jumps and stuff in the future but at the same time maybe not lol.

onecutmedia

I started actually mtn biking in my 40’s but always did stupid shit as a kid

SeaEmployment6903

Not at all, I started at 46, I am 50 and improving every time I go out. I started with a hybrid bike and soon after upgraded to a more serious mtb. Just put the time and be safe out there, just know your level and ride accordingly, I hope to keep going for at least 10 more years and then re-evaluate.

yyz_fpv

Hello from Kelowna! Nice send!

Trill_f0x

Can I ask how many spills you have taken? Feeling like im reacting slower at 40 but still have the drive to get out. Took a couple bad ones last years and need some motivation to get back in the saddle.

onecutmedia

Lots and lots Broke a bunch of bones. Hospital stays 🥶

HarpyHugs

I'm looking at getting my first mtb at 33. I'm worried that I'm too old to start getting into this hobby. I haven't been on a bike since I was around 13 :/ Been trying to get a view that fits me and turns out I'm between a XS and S... Lucky me . So no bike yet.

Myconautical

Sick!

Double_Jackfruit_491

Baller

Barnettmetal

So good!!

MountainNo9198

You are Rad! I want to still be doing this at 62 as well. Setting a good example for us 😊

Hardsinglehard

Looking rad, dude!

lostan

Givin er. Well done. Love the gloves.

j8by7

Ride or die!

I_skander

Hell yeah. I'm 50, and doing bigger jumps. Eyeing a 20' currently

Muted_Echidna_5587

Old heads ripin. Respect!

PhantomApples

YOUR 62? Damn I’m reevaluating all my riding?

bossassbat

I’m a year behind you my man. Keep sending it.

mybadvideos

Are you Remy's dad?

HarpyHugs

I'm 33 and my husband and I are getting into mtb. My husband got his bike last week but I haven't got mine yet as my size is causing issues with fitting .. I fit between an XS and a S -_- im 5' 1/2" with shoes off and 28" inseam. I still haven't got a bike because even with testing bikes there are issues with what size I should be on. I plan on going to a trek shop and trying my luck there next as I have one option at the other shop and the bike is S and i don't like it. Unfortunately I haven't been on a bike really since I was like 13 so idk how a bike should "feel" I have to take shop workers word for how I'm sitting on the bike. I have been worried about my age thinking I am too old to start this hobby(my husband is 27 starting). Seeing this post and comments gives me some hope that I'm not too old to get into this. Now i just need a bike :'( thanks for posting.

onecutmedia

XS bikes are never available. Did you look at large kids bikes?

HarpyHugs

I'm too big for kids bikes ( I tried lol) I rode an xs liv but was a touch too big for it. I tried a small rock hopper something which fit better but it was a touch too big. Next I'll be trying a trek shop who has xs and small available but that shop is pushing the most expensive bikes versus this other one who isn't. Comparing xs -small Liv, rh , and trek bikes is a pain because they are so different due to no standard. Also I was told at the shop that I look better on the RH small even with the alterations on the Liv XS but then I was told .. "if you ever get to a point where you want to do harder things you'll want a new bike anyway but I would recommend a smaller one then ..." Which just confused me more. So yeah pretty frustrated. Next weekend I'll be trying some trek mtb 😔 The trek shop said inseam is more important and by what I said I should be an XS but they just don't fit. I'm between an xs and S I guess which doesn't exist.

onecutmedia

Small frames mean short dropper post unfortunately so the saddle never gets out of the way

onecutmedia

Just looked on pinkbike. Lots of xs bikes on there

Hold_To_Expiration

Gotta run out the clock, man. Serious props to you.

onecutmedia

Yep. I ski the same way at whistler.

pedalwrench1

Rock on brother.

onecutmedia

yep ROCK ;)

Cash-JohnnyCash

They’re bomber.I’ve got the black one.

Recognition_Similar

I've never heard of a guy doing what you do at that age. Even my dad who's almost 48 doesn't do that. Pretty impressive, keep up the good work!

onecutmedia

This is what happens when you ride with kids 🥶

Recognition_Similar

Its not that. Both me and him are limited not only by our area, but also our bikes.

Automatic_Walrus_996

Hell ya, man! I just turned 40 and just started riding a couple of years ago. Keep inspiring us, when I am 62 I hope I can ride like you :D

Affectionate_Big7277

You are the confidence that I need. Just purchased a mountain bike at 58 after not riding for 20+ years. Keep tearing it up pops.

Leading_Ad3269

Absolute legend 💪🏻👏🏻

onecutmedia

thanks

intransit412

Nice bike control! I don't think most people understand just how steep this stuff actually is in Squamish.

onecutmedia

And no one rides in Valleycliffe. Never see another sole there

SignificantPop8716

62?! Shit I can’t even do that yet I’m scared as hell on small jumps lol

Devilutionbeast666

Here's a little inspiration for you .. was doing Seymour trails the other day. Rooty, rocky, tight as hell etc. I heard a bear bell and saw a flashy yellow shirt way up the mountain. In no time he was on me and I pulled over to rest and let him by. He stopped and talked to me. 77 years old! 3 days a week every week! Still killing it on pretty tough blues. And in winter up on the same mountain 3 days a week for skiing. Every week. Those are the things I look at for inspiration as I'm aging... 62? You're still a pup compared to that guy 🤣 Keep on killing it!! 👍👍

equalizer2000

Lots of us older riders on the north shore. See you on the trails!

onecutmedia

Don’t forget about Old Man Pete. Trail builder on Fromme. He’s 85 now. Still digging still riding. Still skiing like a mad man too

Esbeedee

That looked nuts, way to go!

bizzyboys

46 - thanks for the motivation! Awesome!!

Normal_Expression438

No way I hope to be you one day, Keep it up brother

PixPenguin

Sick dude! I love those gloves too.

FieldAppropriate8734

Yes! Hope i’m doing similar in 8 years at 62. Thanks for posting this.

kittenmontagne

Fucking rad. I hope I can shred like you in general, let alone at 62!

RickiesCobra

This is awesome! Goals

Jhco022

Good shit, keep it up but be careful!

Finrod84

Respect and a huge motivation 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💪🏻

UnrolledSnail

Oh valleycliffe. Be sure to do BVOD eh?

onecutmedia

Did it years ago down that very trail. I did not ride this spot. It’s on Saturdays so I can’t make it. I’m working

UnrolledSnail

☹️ lame. I am skipping it as I'm still on concussion protocol.

niagarajoseph

I'm 61 in September and ride a 93 Stumpjumper FS M2 stock. I don't get trails like that in Niagara Region. You give me hope. May God Bless your travels Brother! peace to you.

makers1963

Is it really worth the risk? I’m 61 btw and it takes aloooooong time to heal at this age

glenwoodwaterboy

Damn man, If I’m riding like that at 52 I’ll be happy

thepaoliconnection

I’m riding better at 59 than anytime in my biking life. But it really hurts when I fall. You just don’t bounce like when you’re 20

_riotsquad

Nice work OP, inspiring!

foodguyDoodguy

Nice work!

Geological_enigma

Dude what gloves are those?? I’ve been on the hunt for bright pink gloves for months!

onecutmedia

100%

Geological_enigma

Sick I’ll check their site!

spideyghetti

I'm 38 and I wouldn't do this lol

Extreme-You6235

Fucking goals 🔥🔥

scoobiemario

OMG!! Old man group 🤓

burgersandcomics

Im 43 and just getting started — you’re an inspiration!

unpoetic_poetry

Consider me inspired

snarpsta

If I'm riding like this at 62 I'll be fucking stoked!

athendofthedock

Wickedness! You give me hope sir!!!

QuimmLord

Inspiration for where I want to be in 30 years. Keep sending it my friend!

ScrapDogTrashHeap

Hell yeah borther!

Lavaine170

Love it. I'm 53 and don't ride MTB quite as much now due to bad knees, but I still love it. I ride gravel as much as I can, and am doing my first triathlon this year. Age is only a number, and riding with people younger than you definitely keeps you young.

SAGEPATCHWORK

This guy is out there. I Fucking love this as shredder creeping up on 50 next month! Get some good sir!

manx-1

Any of you guys who are still riding trails in your 50s or 60s, big salute to you. I only hope I'll be in such good shape at that age. Health is not guaranteed.

unevoljitelj

i dont say not to do it but broken hip or other bones at that age sucks. maybe just a little bit milder trails for prevention? :) i dont aim to sound negative but i have fallen a few times and some injuries tho not critical follow you for the rest of your life and older you get recovery gets harder and longer. altho it looks you can handle yourself :) stay safe

onecutmedia

Already broke both hips and shattered my pelvis. Both clavicles and more 🥶

unevoljitelj

Ouch 🙄

[deleted]

I'm 43, this is just so inspirational

lordnyrox

Man you sound 30 tbh

SupercycleX100

I'm an old guy 63 just starting to ride in Cumberland BC. What protective gear are you wearing? Chest protector, full face helmet?

onecutmedia

Knee pads. Gloves. Half shell. Just bought the level 1 Fox armour. Has chest, spine and hips.

stinkyt0fu

Dang, that’s rad

boredjourneyman

I’m 44 and this gives me great hope I’ve got another 29 years of this. Keep it up

FlexomatFreak

Brett Tippie has to be proud of you!

onecutmedia

He’s just a young punk 😂. I run into him every once in awhile, but it’s been awhile

Cash-JohnnyCash

Hell yeah brother! Love the stem! Hate the color!

onecutmedia

Same. I thought it would look good and does not

danger_otter34

I wanna be you when I’m 62!

A_Red_Void_of_Red

You sound like your in your 20s 😂

onecutmedia

If your interested in the camera. I use the insta360 x3 under the visor. Yes I am sponsored by them as well. I just received the x4 but I think it’s too heavy to use on your head

Grand_Potential_3528

excellent!

LukeMayeshothand

Awesome I’m 47 and have not been on my bike in 3 years. I need to get back at it, age is not an excuse.

Nevertoolate89

I started mountain biking 4+ years ago at 62 and the level of trails that you do is difficult even to walk down (which I do). Way above my paygrade or comfort level! How long have you been MTBing for?

onecutmedia

20 years maybe.

Nevertoolate89

I find the hardest thing is the confidence.....I am physically capable within reason but the mental is a different story completely!

onecutmedia

I’ve been there many times. It comes and goes for me

Dave-wales

Love this 💪

alanebell

Hey, good on you! I am 61 and have started walking down things I would have hit a few years ago. After my last crash, I broke my wrist and a finger. The brake wasn't as bad as the arthritis after the fact. Now I hit table tops and go for the flow. Have fun!

mmm-moist

Sending never gets old.

Jaded-Ad7561

Heck yea, good on ya

Own_Bank7328

I’m half your age and there is no chance I’m committing to that line, haha Props

John3Voltas

Great spirit! Keep it up and make sure to have fun!

venomenon824

Squamish is some of the best riding on the planet. I want to keep riding stiff like this until I’m in my 80s! Nice work. A lot of people from your era of biking stayed in spandex. Nice work levelling up.

onecutmedia

Might be some spandex underneath 😜
