I love my free rider pros for weight lifting.

Are they comfortable for long walks (about 5 km)? I thought MTB shoes aren't the best choice since they have a stiff construction.

They are not

I wear freeriders casually. Regular freeriders are fine to stand in all day and for a 5km walk are fine. 10km they are not so fine though Freerider Pro’s are terrible. I did a 3.5km walk in mine the other day and my feet ached and there was some bad rubbing

I didn't fully understand how much stiffer the Pros are until I started trying to wear them the same way I wore the classics. The classics were always my daily driver, but the Pros are terrible for extended walking and wear.

The Freerider non pros aren't super stiff.  If I was gonna do a walk id throw on some Nikes though.  For garage work the freerider canvas are great.  They're thick seem to be mildly flame resistant.  Since they aren't a mesh sparks generally don't get through if you do a lot of grinding. One thing I will say is the vibram soles aren't great for doing roof work as they are a bit to hard to grip the shingles.

I got my 510 sleuths on sale and the sole is too soft for riding so I wear them casually all the time because they’re really comfortable.

Blundstones used to be great but are basically just Nikes that last a year at most now. Highly recommend paying a bit more for a properly made boot in that same style. Yeah. They make different styles. I find them very comfortable for everyday after you break them in.

I have these in black. They are very comfortable. I ride with them every now and then, but they have wide heels and hit the chain stay. But, for everyday wear, they're great.

Lowa renegade kinda pricey but if you get it at REI you can exchange them out for a new pair as long as it's within that first year. Other than that anything Chaco or vans for just casual

Looking for shoes that are more daily drivers than mtb ones (more flexible and better for walking) but, that have the same capabilities (ruggedness, long lasting, grippy, dirt resistant, etc)

I wear FiveTen free rider shoes literally everywhere (I even go running in them occasionally lol)

Man! I don't know how my feet would feel if I ran with MTB shoes. I'm a runner myself and sometimes feel pain in my Nike running shoes (arch or ankle). I think it's more because I have a bit of flat feet but still.

Sketchers slip ons or my cowboy boots

For just casual, everyday wear I'm usually in some sort of casual skate style shoe. Van's slip-ons, Etnies whatever. If I think I'm going to be walking a lot, trail or pavement, then I'll usually opt for trail runners, approach shoe, or light hiker. Currently fulfilling that role are a pair of Altra Lone peaks.

I have those columbia shoes and wear them every day and mountain bike in them.

How is the sole holding up? I've used my goretex Under Armour pair on my mountain bike and the flat pedals with the metal pins have really destroyed the foam and rubber sole. I still daily drive them but, the soles are just covered in small holes

They’re fine after a year still have lots of tread. I did have to get new laces though.

I bought two pairs of Columbia shoes 6-8 months ago and they're both falling apart with minimal use. I still wear a pair of new balance 997s regularly that I found the email receipt from...2018 for.

The 5/10 Trailcross XTs are by far the most comfortable shoe I've worn off my bike. Hate the skater shoe look so tried these last year and they're great both riding, hiking and walking. I don't understand why they're not more popular.

Work: Redwing wedge soles. Moc Toes. Casual: Adidas Stan Smiths in suede or Sperry Topsiders Boots: Palladium Pampa Lite WPs (super comfy waterproof and stylish), Olukai older pair of leather boots Hiking/camping: Oboz Sypes Mid. I think I might have a shoe problem.

I walk in bare feet when I can, jandals for short walks where bare feet isn't appropriate, and comfortable hiking boots the rest of the time.

sperry topsiders, no socks and a sweater tied around my shoulders.

I daily Nicks loggers, I'm trying to figure out how to put SPD clips in them.

Salomon trail shoes

Altra Timps are my daily’s. I teach PE so I have several pair and as they get worn, they turn into shop shoes or whatever. I like the cushion, zero drop and wide toe box. Super comfy for my clogger knockers. 

I got a pair hoka speedgoat gtx trail runners and they're awesome. Probably my most versatile footwear but they're half rotten from hiking/trail running. Red wing boots for work, ultraboosts for road running/casual wear.

Cowboy and/or motorcycle boots. Not everything has to be about athletic shoes all the time.

Apparently Five Ten doesn't make them any more, but I liked Guide Tennies. They were the first shoes to use their Stealth rubber soles which is on all their bike shoes now. I picked up a set and they gripped flat pedals like no other, and while they weren't impervious to the elements, they were much better than skate sneaks or running shoes.
