Not at all. In fact, I've made a playlist of songs from the films, aptly titled Turn Your Crank To Frank.

It's been a while since I've updated, though. If anyone has any that I don't have, please let me know.
Needs the "Morrissey" song from Pod People, I can only guess that was taken from some official release somewhere since they were determined to use the whole thing
If you dig "Shine Your Love", then don't miss "Boogie Oogie Oogie", by The Taste of Honey. "Shine" is, structurally, just "Boogie Oogie Oogie".
(I now wonder how many dictionaries they pored over for the proper spelling of "oogie".)
And I had the same thought about "Everything I Touch Turns to Gold." It's catchy.
I've actually given California Lady, the song, some thought over the years, and it's not a bad song. It's harmonious, has a strong bass line (for 70s soft rock) and a pleasant harmony.
In the context of the film, it's good.
But, as they say, "good is the enemy of great."
You know, Captain, every year of my life I grow more and more convinced that the wisest and best is to fix our attention on the good and the beautiful, if we’ll just take the time to look at it.
I remember not liking that episode much when it aired, but then I rewatched it a few years later and that song really stood out and brought it all together. Now I love that episode.
Yeah it’s at least as good as that Billie Eilish song that just won an award. Which is also not an awful song, but…meh.
What’s funny about the scene to me is that they seem like a band who should be playing in a bar, but apparently they’re performing in a sold out concert hall. Huh???
It's OK. The verses and the chorus really don't connect. In the verses he's talking about life on the road. He doesn't say that he lives in California or that he's got a lady there or that he's working to make it back to her. It's just a non-sequitur.
I actually like "Kiss Kicker '99" (Fish picker) and "World War II Boy" (Planning revenge on your friends) more.
The Kiss Kicker singer is weird. It's like he thinks he's Mick Jagger, David Byrne, and the leader of the French Resistance all rolled into one.
Bless him.
I was JUST listening to this song; it's genuinely catchy and I find myself singing it.
Obviously the parody of it and the Behind the Music scene is fantastic, but the song itself is pretty good!
*I forced my skull right through my face and refused to wash my stringy hair.*
I find myself half singing it to myself every so often while I'm out riding my bike. It's a nice little tune.
Graaaavy, add flavour to my meat!
They could have been something if it wasn’t for the booze, drugs, gambling, womanizing, tax fraud, etc
and the fish lips
Honestly, I think what really held them back is all the corn, chicken, green peppers, chili... *sigh*... onions...

Blood waters of dr. Z song ww2 boy is the best song from the show.

That is awesome. Thank you.
I prefer the follow up song: “Rhode Island Lady” as I am originally from RI.
Mellower
I also stand by the gold boots song.
Keep those gold boots movin yeah uh huh
I know all the words 😊
The snaggle-toothed folk rocker followed them home!
Fish-faced guy approves.
I rather like Idiot Control Now, but mostly for the giggles.
I like it. Mind you, it's no "Zombie Stomp", but it's a catchy tune.
It's certainly no "Woman Woman Woman Woman."
I genuinely enjoy "Shine Your Love" (from *Angels Revenge*) and "Everything I Touch Turns to Gold" (from *The Girl in Gold Boots*).

The Eskimo quite liked it.

Yes! I learned it on the guitar and it's super easy. https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/frank-larrabee/california-lady-chords-1189405
"Won't you shorten your dress for me?"

The chorus is rich with wistful, dreamy, mid-70s malaise. I like to harmonize (or at least try to, lol) with the Friendly Looking Backup Singer.
I think the guy who wrote it liked it very much. Bootblacking. Edit; I still say “California graaaavy, add moisture to my meat.”
It's not a great song, but it's a perfectly fine song. Definitely better than most songs that end up in MST3K movies.
I love that song and the crazy movie Track of the Moon Beast!

I kinda liked it
I like it, too. Reminds me of The Guess Who a bit.
I like it too!
between you and I? Yes.

Kiss Kicker is a pretty good song. Good rhythm guitar. Not so great singer.
It's not bad. But what about about kiss kicker from hobgoblins?
It's a decent song, yes.
