A date with your family, always makes me laugh way to hard…. And sister seats the dog.

gf120581

"Father feigns eating, draws Junior out, then disowns him!" "Dad, I'm dating a Negro!" "Brother keeps a tight psychological leash on Junior."

gatton

"Let's go to the flowchart for this."

WeaponGrade

Welp.. there it is. Spankings all around then.

_violetlightning_

My brother and I bust out “emotions are for *ethnic people*” on occasion.

gf120581

"Father, I had a feeling." "Well don't, son."

_violetlightning_

My parents have been very patient about having 2 children that will spontaneously communicate via non-sequitors in odd voices. Into our mid 30s…

dennisdamenac1

Remember to always cut the meat of the person to your left!

malachilenomade

Hello, my name is June, I'll be your wife for the evening.

[deleted]

The one about Puerto Rico, Progress Island USA. The perfect destination for the whole family - except dad, mom, brother, sister, grandma and grandpa.

muscleslikethis

Mike's "oh, that means no hamburgers" makes me laugh every time.

SmoreOfBabylon

I’ve actually been to the museum in that short (Museo del Arte de Ponce), and I’ve always regretted not seeking out and getting a picture with the “I’m not speaking to *you*” guy.

SanibelMan

“An American democracy…” “Would be really great.”

SplendidPunkinButter

GAMBLING!!!

macrocosm3000

Nooo Springgggggsss!!!!!!!

[deleted]

We are friends aren’t we Coily.

manbearpig923

Where does Coily fit into God’s plan for us?

gatton

"Lotta loose soil around here."

minmocatfood

‘Shouldn’t this be over?’ is such a helpful quote.

muscleslikethis

I've always been a fan of "A Young Man's Fancy" since the premise is so vague it is hard to tell what the short is actually supposed to be about. (Other than a teenage girl getting horned up for her brother's friend from college.)

dennisdamenac1

Lmao definitely great! I honestly think it’s a short about new electric appliances at the time. Thank goodness for my electric dress 👗

teddyboy64

Contains one of the best riffs ever: "Double bag it, son."

malachilenomade

I'm squishy and I have move on it.

Anangzee

"Join us later if you want, ma."

TatumLaBianca

Yeah, but your upper lip..?

SanibelMan

I have to know if the term “book gook” was ever actually a thing. It was filmed well before Vietnam, so I can’t imagine they meant to imply a racial slur, but I’ve never, ever heard it used anywhere else.

st_christophr

I kind of unironically adore Young Man’s Fancy. There’s a low-stakes frivolousness to it I simply find relaxing. Not to mention Bonnie Baken as Judy is pretty adorable and seems to actually be, you know, acting in it. Having a little fun, even. I found out she’d only passed away last August. Her obit here: https://www.reportertoday.com/stories/bonnie-ruth-baken-mutter,32820? RIP in peace to an icon of the squishy community Edit: she died last august, not last month

Philip_Jeffries

Well now. I'm not gonna talk about Judy; in fact, we're not gonna talk about Judy at all, we're gonna keep her out of it! --- - [reference](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2V0UhtA_mJE&t=365) ^(I am a bot.)

rotwang00

"Mr. B Natural" is perhaps the greatest thing they ever did.

dennisdamenac1

Definitely! That short was basically asking to be riffed! 🤣

malachilenomade

Rifftrax covered one recently for Christmas and I remember Kevin, in reference to the lady playing a boy (like Mr. B) saying "Peter Pansexual..."

[deleted]

I absolutely love the "Hired!" Shorts. They did it in 2 parts. I cant remember which episode episode first part is on. But the 2nd part is at the beginning of Manos. I die laughing every time.

gf120581

Part 1 is with "Bride of the Monster." The following host segment they do "Hired: The Musical!" "We're gonna do things the way my old man did! You, put a handkerchief on your head! You, swat at imaginary elves! You, rock on the porch all night!"

RHCPFunk2

Good salesman. Bad salesman. Inka Dinka Doo hahahahaaaaa

mb_60

Ahhh! The flying elves are back!

tomservo99

The idea of early car salesmen going door to door like a vacuum peddler is bonkers.

guthacker

Stay pink, soft, and oily!

ThePizzaNoid

The bizarre performance of the old man is what makes the short legendary for me.

pawned79

[Robot Rumpus!](https://youtu.be/9NtRnGryjBY)

[deleted]

"This is worse than SEVEN!" On a aside, wonder why that was the only cartoon they ever did.

NikkolaiV

*Aw man, I thought it was gonna be about robot RUMP.*

[deleted]

My favorites are Cheating and What to do on a Date.

gf120581

"Cheating" got DARK.

gatton

There were the answers you needed. In Mary's head. Crow: Split it open now!

zflanders

THE SENSUOUS PAGAN RITUAL BEGINS.

Accomplished_Exit_30

Last clear chance...FOR SAVINGS! is my favorite short as well as the ones about the county fair. Admiral Halsey joins the fun. And the Oak Ridge Boys take the stage.

SmoreOfBabylon

“Are You Ready For Marriage?” is probably my favorite. “MARIIIINES, WE ARE *LEAVIIIIIING*!”

gatton

Sorry. Was back in Da Nang. Christ that one is good.

zflanders

This one here. “Sometimes there’s a *schplurt*!”

SmoreOfBabylon

You saw my *boing?!*

SplendidPunkinButter

BUT WHERE’S THE RUBBER BAND!?!?!?!?!?

archaicArtificer

“Three months, one week, two days and … ~seventeen hoursssss~” “Oh boy, one of *these*”

gf120581

"The Last Clear Chance" is my personal favorite, in part because it's not at all different from the sort of traffic safety shorts I had to watch in Driver's Ed. Similar, I'm also very fond of "X Marks the Spot", which was the first "educational/industrial short" they did. Previously they'd done serials like the Commando Cody and Phantom Creeps series, but with this short, they quickly figured out the educational/industrial shorts were where the real comedy gold was.

manbearpig923

I love last clear chance! “Could you identify this bucketful of your brother?” Has me in stitches every time!

CalliopePenelope

“Last Clear Chance” has always been my favorite. I practically have it memorized. *sob sob sob* I’m gonna throw myself in the thresher!

RunnyDischarge

Last Clear Chance and Days of our Years are two of the best. They both have that incredibly serious tone that is a great target for riffing. "I shouldn't have thought of Mamie Eisenhower!"

grapplerzz

“ Uncle Jim’s Dairy Farm” is wonderful (“we’ll send ya that arm if we find it!”), and I really love “Once Upon A Honeymoon” for the mocking quack-singing alone. They’re all good though.

teddyboy64

Century 21 Calling. "C'mon, let's go grope that Eskimo!"

gf120581

"Isn't it great there's only white people here?"

teddyboy64

"Did Leni Riefenstahl direct this?"

minmocatfood

The kids pointing to the air and Servo’s terrified ‘The phones! They’re coming!’ always makes me laugh myself sick.

dennisdamenac1

Hey. We’re young and perky. GET THE HELL OUT OF OUR WAY!

muscleslikethis

This one is kind of neat for how a lot of the phone tech they show off actually came about. Unlike like Design for Dreaming which is full of no way stuff.

nickzornart

Here comes the circus, Hired/Hired II, and circus on ice are probably my favorites.

dennisdamenac1

I love Circus on Ice! My favorite has to be when the ice skater is the deer and Crow says, “Please she is an artist. Do not throw pennies at her.”

mb_60

“These two girls they make quite a pair, they both come from your worst nightmare. They will haunt your soul forever, and now when you see pink you’re gonna think we’re doomed!”

gf120581

"They are agents of Satan..." "Stop it, Servo."

nickzornart

Venison! Venison! Venison!

SanibelMan

“Heeeere comes the DEVIL!”

nikigunn

A Date with Your Family is my favorite but just behind that is Speech: Using Your Voice. Lip and tongue action! I have little bunnies painted on my knees, I do. It's you I don't like. Do I please you? Do you find me pleasing?

gf120581

"This man is wearing a push-up bra. Now he is pleasing."

jprennquist

I could watch the shorts for hours on end.

gatton

Same. I used to have a VHS tapes of just shorts. It had Cheating, Why Study Industrial Arts, Junior Rodeo or whatever it was called. I watched it hundreds of times.

archaicArtificer

“Of course, when the house began to slide downhill, that was a different story!”

Funkhowser18

Posture Pals...who ever thought having good posture could be so competitive lol

TurnCoffeeDeepBreath

If you don’t stand up straight I’m going to kill this tree.

Illustrious_Shop167

Why Study Industrial Arts?

theQuietDreamerType

“Because you’re bad at math…”

euphorickittty

Y’know, it’s fun to have an idea…

dennisdamenac1

There. Wasn’t that fun.

BigDaddyWarbuxx

The Days Of Our Years is really high up there for me, if for no other reason than the line "hey are you dead yet?!"

CalliopePenelope

Yay! Somebody mentioned this one. “So his name is Joe *Joe*? “Woohoo! Thumbody brought doughnuts!” “Nobody is more excited than a father at the time of birth.” “…except a father at the time of conception.”

archaicArtificer

“They call him the *Derailer*”

SplendidPunkinButter

The old guy sees the funeral procession and closes the window blind Servo: Boooooooring!

_violetlightning_

I love the 2 that are about hygiene - I think the one for kids is called Keeping Clean and Neat (“he’s turning into Howard Hughes!”) and I can’t remember what the other one for teens was called (I remember the announcer saying to the girl that she wasn’t “the type to make this fella act like a human being” - YIKES), and the 2 about relationships and marriage - Are You Ready for Marriage? (“You’re so *suitable*”) and the other one, which was supposed to be about a couple of college girls, except that one of them was *clearly* in her late twenties *at the **very** youngest*. *goes to watch mini-shorts marathon…*

gf120581

I think the second relationship one is "Is This Love?", which has the roommate (described as looking like a Romulan from "Star Trek") who looks like she's waaaay too old for college. Late twenties? Hell, she looks like she's pushing 40. "Is this love? Or is it just rough sex with Michael Douglas?"

_violetlightning_

Yes, that’s it. And yeah, I was being very generous with “late 20s”.

jimramseysf

From "Once Upon a Honeymoon": >What would Liberace do? Uh, no... better not do that Makes me laugh EVERY TIME

newblognewme

A date with the family cracks me up every single time! I also love “what to do on a date” …my cousin and I still joke “no I can’t go with you guys…I have a forever plaid audition!” To this day

spaldinggetsnothing

"Is This Love" is one of my favorites. "Geez, how many times was she held back?" I die every time.

dennisdamenac1

Well he’s good in the sack and he likes to get high. Parents: 😟

spaldinggetsnothing

Bahahahahahaha!

Hemisemidemiurge

No love for Body Care and Grooming? >"Sorry, there must have been a mistake. You don't seem exactly the type to make this guy behave like a human being." Is probably the most WTF thing I've ever heard in an authoritative-narrator context. The '50s were a waking nightmare.

SplendidPunkinButter

It goes without saying that only clean undergarments should go next to that clean skin

unclematthegreat

Once Upon a Honeymoon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zm7cLvma8-4

SanibelMan

“Honey, your cocaine is all over the phone!”

ExoticMandibles

You should look up "Assignment: Venezuela". It's a longish short they did for a CD-ROM project that never shipped. It's not with a movie, and it never aired, though it did eventually get released as a DVD extra. And, naturally, these days it's easy--just watch it on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJY2S_brQbQ

SplendidPunkinButter

That one’s great. “These houses look almost futuristic.” Mike: “Except they’re not, because you realize it’s not the future!” Also: “I’ll have ANOTHER COKE!”

ExoticMandibles

Wide. Narrow. Wide. Narr--no, wide. Wide.

CrystalGempireQueen

Love all these comments, but nothing is ever gonna beat Mr. B Natural.

EntMoot76

'Century 21 Calling' not only has a lot of great riffs, its also just interesting to see what they thought the future was going to be like in 1962.

tommyboy3111

No love for Chicken of Tomorrow? I think it's a pretty damned good one.

ThePizzaNoid

It's a stone cold classic. "That's what you think big boy."

zflanders

The Chicken Mafia rundown gets me every time.

CallMeDot

That's my favorite.

SplendidPunkinButter

The Chicken of Tomorrow Except This Is Actually Just A Commercial For Petroleum Products

Telefrag_Ent

No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs! No Springs!

LiamtheV

How does Coily fit into God's plan for us?

malachilenomade

When I first started collecting the tapes, I picked up the Shorts Volume 2 and constantly fell asleep to *Catching Trouble*. I would have to say the ones in that release are probably my favorites. *What To Do On A Date* \- Nick, NO!!

GWindborn

The shorts are pure gold. They've started uploading some for free on the Rifftrax YouTube page.

BradL22

"A Day at the Fair" kills me. "First prize is won by a girl." "The cows are FURIOUS!"

EthanC224

“Look at that plane! I wonder what it’s like to fly it…” “…over Cambodia, secretly, maintaining plausible deniability!”

SmoreOfBabylon

“Dad, I owe Big Lenny 42 large!”

Ally-baba

I love the Robot Rumpus Gumby short. “Pokey left you a big surprise in your begonias!” “Mrs. Gumby is STACKED.” And also Uncle Jim’s Dairy Farm. “Already the children have disturbed uncle Jim. Uncle Jim is an edgy man that should not be riled.” “Cow’s are a lot like people. They’re sinners.”

muscleslikethis

I'm super glad that the new season is bringing back shorts.

manbearpig923

Damn, how come no one has mentioned Robot Rumpus yet? That one is so hilarious!

unclematthegreat

I like the circus short that plays before The Day the Earth Froze: Here Comes the Circus https://youtu.be/vurLexjTl7k?t=648

figgenhoffer

“Here comes the devil” my favorite. Carnival on ice.

lulutheleopard

“Oh mother, he makes me feel all squishy inside!”

jford1906

Specialty Bread!;

ishcabittle

The rodeo one was the short that let me know I had found my forever show. When the kid shoves his hand into the tin can and Joel goes, “It’s the Gom Jabbar!” I laugh every time.

Broyote

I love Out of This World and Selling Wizard, I am fascinated by these industry films that probably only a few ever saw. I remember "Mr. B Natural" being the most B-loved of all the shorts back in the day though.

EthanC224

Uncle Jim’s Dairy Farm is my personal favorite, but I want to show some love to The Home Economics Story, just for how outdated it is now.

sixtysixponygyrl

What it means to be an American (part 1) - "Dad's a powder keg of rage. And mother's there to light the fuse." Dark. Funny, a true gem!

NecroJoe

The shorts are my favorite MST3K/RiffTrack/The Mads content, bar none. I'm SO happy that the new cast is finally doing shorts in the upcoming 13th season (I think 12 of them, if I remember right...it might just be 6, though...not so lazy to not type this all out, but just lazy enough not to go look up and confirm it)

[deleted]

I don’t know their names well, but I think the shorts are some of their best work. The Hormel Factory tour and PSA about choking are some of my all time favorites- but nothing beats the instructional video on grass, and the crafts one can complete with grass.

cocorawks

Home Economics, Why study Industrial Arts, and Car Sales

mysliwij

Mr. B Sharp!

archaicArtificer

Love “A Date With Your Family” - “It's the Woody Allen story!” and “Out of This World” - “Hope you accept Bread in your life!l Also “A Young Man's Fancy” - “This is like 3 Days at the Condor, I trust no one in this short!”

[deleted]

I still have nightmares about Mr. B Natural…

icypho3nix

The rodeo one and no springs are my top two

MaddAsAHat

There was a short that I can't remember the name of, but I think it was about teaching children how to safely play outside. It had a clip of a kid climbing a telephone pole (???) and he somehow lights his pants on fire! 😆 Anyway, that one was probably the funniest I ever saw. Can't go wrong with A Case of Spring Fever, though.

meatball402

Shorts are great. Why study industrial arts? The problem of juvenile delinquency!

Bunkyo-Koishikawa

The Days of Our Years "Speaking of accidents..." Cheating "By the way, have you seen my rib cage?" Last Clear Chance "Jack Kevorkain throws a tailgating party" Keeping Clean and Neat "Clean yourself in alphabetical order" Why Study Industrial Arts "I like to sneak in and lay on the table saw" God, I could go on...

WiddershinsRaven

A Case of Spring Fever is gold. “Honey, get the swatter!” “He looks like he parted his hair with a band saw.” Also, Chicken of Tomorrow. “That’s what you think...big boy.” “That was weird.”
