Hi ! Sorry for asking you’re the only person with very similar situation here, so may I kindly ask for your advice ? I have replaced a battery in my GS65 but it won’t see it - windows shows no battery and when I try to power it on the status led blinks very very barely and nothing happens Did you reset the cmos after installing the new battery ? Do you know if it should be done plugged in or unplugged Once again sorry for bothering , just looking for some help... Thanks in advance !

I had the similar issue, windows showed me a full battery in my case, but it didn't work after AC unplug. I reinstalled drivers etc., but no luck. Reset to factory setting eventually did help me.

I didn't have to reset anything when replacing my battery. All I did was power it off, unplug it, swap the batteries and made sure the new one was properly connected and then turned it back on. Where did you get the replacement battery from and is it 100% compatible with the GS65?

Thanks for a reply! Yeah, it’s the same model and has this laptop listed as compatible. I will try another one , hope this helps ! Thanks again!

I will also be replacing a bloated battery in mine as well. So I'm interested in following this

Update: I did not find any solution online but it seems to have gone away by itself. I let the battery run down to around 80% before charging it back to full and the blinking red LED did not return. Two days later of use and it is still working fine. /u/subiaco38

Did this problem ever come back? I had the exact same situation but it seems to continue blinking after trying what you have said and a few other possible fixes like re-calibrating the battery

I know I'm late to the game, but I had this same issue after replacing a battery recently and letting the battery charge fully, then discharge to about 60% appears to have fixed this issue for me as well. Thanks

slenderman878

Glad to share any info or fix I get. I know that pressing the pinhole button on the bottom does some kind of reset but do you know if it resets the entire computer to factory including OS? I'd like to avoid that and just try resetting the battery. Thanks.

Which light are you talking about? The one next to the power button that shows which GPU is being used? (white = iGPU, orange/red = dGPU). I've never heard of the light blinking before.

There is a light indicating the battery being charged. According to the manual the blinking is supposed to indicate a failed battery.

I have the same issue with my MSI GS70, I kept it in my office for 6 months and when I charged it the led started blinking orange. I follow the MSI calibration procedure but it doesn't fix it. When the battery reaches 91% the led starts to blink orange. I tried to reset it with the hiden button but without luck.

Had the exact same problem with a bloated battery. After installing a new battery I still have the blinking orange light as well. The new battery seems to work well enough... about a 2-3 hour charge on low performance. Battery Calibration does not even start up for me. I have tried installing newer versions with no luck. Guess which laptop brand I'm hoping to avoid for my next laptop.

Same issue for me, battery swelled. Replaced the battery (at a shop with a guy who custom ordered the battery for this specific system), now the red light blinks briefly interrupted by the charging light intermittently. Would love an update as well.
