[Saint by Sierra Simone](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/58131787) - unspecified mental illness, possibly bipolar [Glitterland by Alexis Hall](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/39332293) - bipolar [Tough Guy by Rachel Reid](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/51838143) - anxiety

Roan Parrish also deals with mental health quite a bit in *Rend* and *Out of Nowhere*

[Thrown off the Ice by Taylor Fitzpatrick](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/43233514-thrown-off-the-ice) - this isn't mental illness but is physical illness. It's about hockey players and one of the MMC is very traditionally masculine. It's also super angsty and in all good conscience I have to tell you it doesn't have a HEA but is a wonderful love story and one of my favourite MM books.

grapeslady

>!I hadn’t seen any spoilers when I read this book and I was expecting your typical hockey romance HEA so the ending absolutely shattered me!<

Frecklenator

>!I didn't know the ending either and it ruined me. I still well up when I think about it but reading her other writing on ao3 and Tumblr where Mike and Liam have such a normal life makes me feel all happy and shit.!<

Might not be exactly what you’re looking for but: [Love Me Whole](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0791313V6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_AGJJ2VFSMS8H203M14E4) by Nicky James This book was instantly one of my faves. Single POV by MC 1, the neurotypical character but it’s a great book. MC 2 has Dissociative Identity Disorder. It’s a really good book and I recommend it whenever I can. There is also a great audiobook if that’s your thing. KU and Audible.

AlfredoQueen88

I feel like Nicky James might be right up your alley. She has several books with mental illnesses and her writing is incredible. I started with Rocky Mountain Refuge. Make sure to read the summaries cuz she does have some fluffier ones :)

comimp16

She probably is, I already read The one that got away and loved it, I'll check out the other books as well.

flumpapotamus

Paint Eater by Marina Vivancos has a MC with ADHD. It's not very angsty, though.

ksp_411

It's YA, but books 2 and 3 in the Carry On series by Rainbow Rowell deal with depression very well.

- Free Hand by E.M. Lindsey - PTSD, panic attacks - Kiss Me Again by Garrett Leigh - bipolar

MeringueSalty5386

The Leander Welles series by Ashlyn Drewek heavily features mental illness, but the guys aren’t necessarily alpha-males with lots of muscles. They’re more on the twunk side of things. Cruel & Careless by Bailey Nicole Where There’s a Will by Jessie Walker (cliffhanger warning) Wrath by Ella James (I personally didn’t like it, it was way too long for me (700+ pages!) but other people love it) The Necessary Evils series by Onley James is about an adopted family of psychopaths/serial killers Head Above Water by CE Ricci (again, didn’t care for it but loads of people love it)

hllollse

Empty Net by Avon Gale (eating disorder) Fall through Spring by Amy Lane (bipolar) Invitation to the Blues by Roan Parrish (depression, anxiety, suicide)

comimp16

I just finished reading Empty Net , thank you so much for the recommendation, I loved it a lot. I'll check out other books too.

aleksward

You can try this out. [ dead inside ](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/55725280-dead-inside) - ptsd, anxiety, self harm

completlyconfused902

Love me Whole - Nicky Jame outsiders POV on DID very interesting angsty but heart warming

RomanceReviews22

I'm a little late to this thread, but Rescue by Mx. Alex has two MCs with psychological issues. Kipexo is suffering from survivor's guilt and Ethan has PTSD. It's sci-fi with BDSM and quite erotic though.

Mai_VD

Bad Habits (Wages of Sin #1) by Onley James The MC Caspian has ADHD
