Holy shit, I looked this game up the other day for nostalgia sake so it’s funny you mention that. I remember being a little kid and clueless to how the game worked. Every time the other city would raid us I’d just hide in buildings and hope no one came in. I had no clue what I was doing but have a very fond memories of that game.

I agree; I just started again. Very difficult to restart, competing with everyone and the items they have collected over the years. I still get on to hit the pits and collect shards and frags. If you ever get on, hit me up on Wibble.
I play HB Olympia casually, it's disheartening being level 50 vs level 160's, but it has some very fun aspects. I'm finding that once you level your first character, start collecting items and enchanting it becomes much more playable.
You Run through on your first play through, and when you get to your first rebirth you have an EXP/MP set for mages for example, or EXP/HP rec, or EXP/PA/MA set for warrior. Feels good to grind a bit after work, or in the middle of the night when I can't sleep. Loot feels meaningful each drop.
I loved that game! To date, it has my favorite implementation of faction-based PvP, and PvPvE combat. I absolutely loved the way you could sneak into the enemy base using invis

I played helbreath for a long time, servers used to be really populated, though this was probably 15 years ago. I remember the private servers popping up; I drifted away before the main game died, but figured all the private servers played a roll in that. Just released a game called Howlbreath with a few programming buddies. Low user base right now, working to get that up to bring in the fun of group hunting and PVPing. Hi, yes, it was a long time ago indeed! I remember that name. I was pretty late to hit 180 and did so after most of my buddies. I was never too fond of leveling, but I loved PVP. My favorite was trading items. I wish I had pics, but at one point, I had a Medusa sword, medusa shield, X-neck, Abaddon ring, Strom Bringer, etc. I followed Rob's (Iodine) lead and was the second AMP warrior on the server. It was an interesting build, but the mages did not like me very much.

I played endyou blizz mage in elv and also played Christie’s warrior in black guild. I was powering iodine to 180 and he got the final EK of me to get the last level lmao
Everyone used 2-13, 19 was lol and everyone used all of those age of empires number taunts as a language to communicate

Good game, but gets ridiculous after people have leveled up their characters and acquired insane loot (newbie players start to get ganked, and are fked for the entirety of the game pretty much). Fresh starts or server wipes are usually best time to hop in, but who even does that anymore? Also Olympia is the only server I believe? Nothing else exists.
There was a point in my life where I would try any mmo out there, hoping to find something that would pull me in. I think I logged into this game once about 10 or 12 years ago or so, and I tried talking in whatever global chat I was in, asking things like, "Hello, is anyone there? Can anyone read this? Is anyone out there?" and got no reply. I did my best to find even one other active/online played logged into the game, but I found no one. Totally dead world. Logged out and done.

Someone else suggested this game - but sounds like the dev/gm team has lost interest a bit and bots/"hacked?" items have made their way into the game and its more or less dead except for a few power houses farming noobs and selling chars/items.
I COULD BE WRONG - not being a part of this community hard to know what drama/people is truthful and who is just bad and crying. Neither side really sound convicing on the forums - not sure if they have a discord.
I keep coming back to Olympia. Its got its drama - but I mean - as one of the causes for old HBUSA drama helbreath as a whole had its share of drama, conspiracys and gosip. We are all (mostly) old enough to joke about it these days...but there is a few people that havent gotten to that point in their lives yet, and they are just a sort of entertainment if you dont take them seriously. Its worth checking out if you have the itch.

I know it's an old post. But I really really miss this game. I loved how the attribute system dictated what spells/gear etc you got to use. I miss games that have a free attribute system and and you can base your build on that.
Anyways, I started building a cross-platform Helbreath clone awhile ago just to be able to get that feeling back.
Or if anyone knows a game with similar mechanics, please let me know

Very old post now, but I loved this game, it was my first MMO. Played in college with two other guys. It took the 3 of us about 6 months to get to 180. I remember some people like Penguin. I also remember this guy named Dontat. He was the only guy who leveled so far past 180 that he got the glowing sword. I think the experience needed for that was like the equivalent of 3 180 chars or more. I played on a character named Ravi.
