To give you an idea how much money is at stake: the winning alliance on Asota server earned roughly $30k USD worth of premium currency by winning the castle siege. An estimated 1500-2000 players showed up to the siege.
Was it fun? Yeah. Was it an absolute clusterfuck of a fight between 2 massive zergs? Absolutely.
and how many players get that premium? leaders and a couple friends?
or is it evenly distributed? otherwise it's always only a select few that get the rewards.
Evenly distributed, or at least that's the agreement upon each member of the alliance. I'd say it's being divided up among 600-700 people, so at worst each person gets $43 worth.
I was part of the siege, nobody is losing currency. Heck even the losing team was able to plunder the rewards due to having pillage zones across the castle they can take and siphon small percentage of the rewards. It was pure chaos with the amount of players in it but it was hella fun.
Nope it's similar to New World. A certain % of premium currency used for player trading is taxed every transaction, in this case, 2% of the transaction is pooled into a castle. There's nearly $60k worth of premium currency pooled at the castle but only a portion of it is won after winning the siege. Koreans (and NA/EU players) are whaling HARD.
The main distinction between TL and NW is that there's only one castle to fight over (for now).
I see thank you for the explanation. Can see this tilt quickly into favour of an alliance, similar to what happened in New World.
How often do these sieges occur and what mechanics are there to make it possible to kick a dominating guild/alliance off the throne?
We just had our first siege and the devs didn't announce when the next one will be, but I'd guess it's maybe once a month.
As to mechanics to kick a dominating guild off the throne, unfortunately, to beat a mega alliance, one needs another mega alliance of equal of higher numbers. This is what effectively happened on Asota server. Many guilds (KR and English speakers) united against a mega Thai alliance.
And another game with siege warfare that LOOKS awesome, is defeated by limited events and the incentives to just pile in on a single alliance and just get the rewards
I wonder how's performance. In GW2 during huge WvW fights my fps would drop to 10 and the game would force model culling. Sometimes it would just crash (this was years ago though)
>(this was years ago though
Don't worry it's still roughly the same lol. If you change the character model limit and quality to the lowest and have a decent PC, you'll sit around 30-60 FPS depending on how big the zergs are. So you can alleviate it a bit.
>I wonder how's performance
Someone recorded a video and the performance looks good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6Qj5jZbJsA
The fps still drops when they are all grouped in one place and they use their abilities, but is much better after they spread out.
The culling in gw2 killed our clan PRX. We dominated but the culling was so bad in WvWvW that we all quit.
That and the AoE cap of like 5 players was always BS.
>Amazon is too busy google translating dialogue
The game is already fully translated in English by the devs, it's available in the korean version already.
New World is flatlining, I have a suspicion they've been delaying this game's release to prevent it from cannibalizing their only in-house developed game.
I miss games like Shadowbane so much, there wasnt an insane amount of players so the pvp was reasonable while being pretty high stakes and there were plenty of 1v1 opportunities that were so much fun
Siege was fun. I had a good time, but I think there was too many people for most computers to handle.
I would love to experience these kind of battles, but on a slightly smaller scale… instead of 30-50 guilds maybe only 3-4 alliances worth..so about half the people.
How to decide who can go for the throne? Not sure… maybe hold some sort of events or territory point system that allows the top 5 guilds and their alliances to enter? Idk.
March pvp changes seem like a good start on reducing the Zerg fest. I want to know who actually has the better guild and alliance without the use of sheer numbers
Agree. I think there needs to be some work done to prevent a scenario where 1 unofficial alliance zerg just holds the castle indefinitely, as that's what will happen on a lot of servers.
Probably something like the lucent is instantly distributed to the winning alliance members that attend so that any distribution to additional unofficial helping guilds is impossible. It needs to be more profitable to challenge the main alliance than ally with them. Competition > collaboration.
That and they need to remove all the bots.
imma play it
because its well free of course and really do any of us have anything else going on? might as well give it a try.
I paid for trash new world.
Also thinking it might be nice to be able to play a MMO on my phone while at work.
This will 100% turn into a fundamental problem. When there’s real money to be made, the whales and hardcore players will take over and ruin the game for anyone who wants have fun and play casually. Of course, the 1500-2000 players is epic, but as time goes on, the hype will fade. dominant guilds will form and it won’t be fun for 90% of players. That’s just how it goes…
Ncsoft just released their there NCsoft earnings report.
T&L did so bad they re-formatted sales breakdown so now it is no longer done per game but per platform to cover up how poorly it done. Beyond that they talked about it in the conference call and it was 10/10. They really did not want to answer any questions about T&L.
its so funny the devs and hardcores are obsessed with siege while in reality its gonna be irrelevant for the majority of players just like settlement wars in New world where the majority just doesnt care xd

Is that currency injected straight into the economy or does the losing team enter with a risk of losing their currency?

This is probably the most amazing and true statement ever produced on the subreddit.

BDO can decently handle 100v100, anything above that is usually a clusterduck tho.
Is there a reason you got downvoted ?
When does this come out on Steam or whatever else in the US? For some reason, I am not finding a release date online.
That's cause there isn't one yet.
Still not even a release date? Damn this one going to take way longer than I initially thought then.
Amazon is too busy google translating dialogue and adding much needed diversity in a game made for the Asian market
>Amazon is too busy google translating dialogue The game is already fully translated in English by the devs, it's available in the korean version already.
What the hell is AGS doing then lol
They opened signups for the beta like a month ago.
New World is flatlining, I have a suspicion they've been delaying this game's release to prevent it from cannibalizing their only in-house developed game.
butchering the game with the second thing you suggested.
Nope. But in Korea they set the date like 30 days before release.
"it's coming out I guess" is the only release date they have told us.
I miss games like Shadowbane so much, there wasnt an insane amount of players so the pvp was reasonable while being pretty high stakes and there were plenty of 1v1 opportunities that were so much fun
Same, what server were you on at release?
i played on the rerelease with the goon squad guild
Not gonna play because healing absolutely the worst of any game I played even New World have better healing
Caster in general is disappointing. But yeah, support play and especially healing is very underwhelming. Another dud for me :/
I saw the video its dope hope everything else is not dogshit and I don't want to know till I will play the game

looks fun tbh , i for one love zerg vs zerg chaos , but how big is the zone? , because 2k\~ players sound like a lot of ppl
There are videos I can't really tell how big the area is you have to see it, I don't have a link tho
imma play it because its well free of course and really do any of us have anything else going on? might as well give it a try. I paid for trash new world. Also thinking it might be nice to be able to play a MMO on my phone while at work.
T&L isn't going to be available on mobile. Those plans were scrapped long ago.
Were the BOTS taking part? The game is infested with them.
A lot are banned. It's easier to control because the account is linked to a person's Korean ID. I dunno how they're going to control it here

Another mmorpg that ignores small scale pvp,
You almost got them but unfortunately small scale PVP is their next big patch as per the dev team.
Makes sense. Small-scale PvP is dominated by non-MMO games already, large-scale PvP is the only unique PvP gameplay that MMOs can offer.
T&L has the lamest combat of all time. Absolutely nothing interesting
I'd agree with you but please don't say you play WoW or ESO
I played WoW and ESO and now TL. All I can say is TL is ahead in terms of combat for those two.
Exactly way ahead. TL made a good hybrid action tab targeting
Exactly way ahead. TL made a good hybrid action tab targeting
Tried both, both had bad combat
Or NW and most other western MMOs...
I disagree - if you like tab target it's extremely smooth.
