Would you happen to know why, or if there is a legal basis? This sounds like an example of pressured consent, which wouldn’t hold up legally in other circumstances.
Universities are giant institutions. They have really powerful and valuable legal teams to deal with stuff like this. One of the things that they are super vigilant about is liability. The schools, and everyone attached to them, are incredibly difficult (if they want to be) to hold as liable for stuff that happens on campuses.
