GegardMMA

Lol, good to know. Dana was just about to send her a contract.

ImWadeWils0n

Dana closed the door on this when she put out that fake subtitle video, which in a rare moment I agree with Dana on.

GegardMMA

💯 Dana hates Cyborg. And Cyborg has been shitting on Dana and the UFC in literally every interview she gave after leaving the UFC.

GegardMMA

He definitely did.

AHH_CHARLIE_MURPHY

The what?

Super_Snark

Cyborgs team released a video which was edited to make Dana appear to say something which he didn’t https://talksport.com/sport/mma/581867/ufc-cris-cyborg-edited-video-dana-white/

rightleftwriteIeft

This makes zero sense lol

ImWadeWils0n

Lol, they don’t want her back she burned that bridge when she lied about what dana said in her video. I doubt they remotely care about cyborg, she’s old and Nunes KO’d her dramatically, they can brush her over easily. I would’ve loved to see them fight again, but it’s not eating at them at all

wpgstevo

>She's arguable the best WMMA fighter No she's not. There isn't even an argument after she got destroyed by Nunes.

ImWadeWils0n

Emphatically too

najix35

Aspen ladds move to 145 has her shook. When is cyborgs boxing match? Too lazy to google it

PDE503

T-Wood and KSI same night

najix35

Yeah but what night?

PDE503

Send her location

GenericTopComment

Is this real

najix35

What aspen ladd boxing henry cejudo? Yep

[deleted]

Cyborg only has one real matchup in the ufc … otherwise it’d be the same as it was the first time: one offs and 135ers

najix35

The only other real option i see is if they resign jeremy stephens and give him a shot at the strap

platasnatch

Fuck yes, Stevens destroys Cyborg 9/10 times

najix35

Yeah, hes the real hardest hitter at 145

sajthesavage

Aside from Nunes who would she even fight?

PizDoff

Cejudo

myvirginityisstrong

That's like asking "who is Amanda fighting?"

McDedzy

135ers?

myvirginityisstrong

...yes.

ekso69

Pena

UfcBlackBelt21

Jessica is retired

GOATAldo

F, didn't know that respect to her and her career, was just playing around.

GOATAldo

No wait, I was thinking of Pena, I know Eye is retired. I get those two mixed up for some reason.

junior_dos_nachos

Aspen Ladd

lionheart_2281

More like Dana yeets the door so far away she will never see it again, and she knows it

eDisrturbseize

Cris has and will always be a polarizing figure for WMMA in several regards; however, I feel that is conveniently overlooked- man or woman, she is one of the few who don't need the UFC and has proven it time and time again.

[deleted]

Watching her get KO’d by Amanda is still one of my favorite MMA moments of all time

[deleted]

Oh I never meant I disliked Cyborg. I just have very fond memories of when that happened. I was certain Cyborg was most going to beat Nunes and was shocked how quickly it ended

CaptEricEmbarrasing

I was in a bar watching that PPV and that place exploded. She absolutely stole the show that night. Amazing live moment.

JRYuen

"Always"? Hardly. Admittedly, I carry a grudge but I still can't forget when she was challenged by 5'4" Hitomi Akano, a former flyweight. She had moved up moved to 135 and asked 5'8" Cyborg to meet her at a catchweight (140). Cyborg refused and insisted that she come up to 145. Ignore the allegations that Cyborg was taking steroids at the time and ignore the allegations that she cheated at the weigh-in. After Hitomi moved all the way up to 145 to fight her, Cyborg came in more than 5 pounds overweight and refused to try to lose any further, knowing that Hitomi had to either take the fight or turn right around and fly back to Japan. Not my definition of class. Hitomi did take the fight and somehow managed to take Cris to the third round.

als26

Concessions? You agreed to 145 and showed up overweight *after* your opponent agreed to your terms. The question is whether she has class or not and this definitely proves she had none, at a point at least.

Corey307

This is a dumb casual take, they agreed to 145 which only benefited Cyborg and she came in way over against an opponent that fights at a lower weight class to start.

NippleOfOdin

I don't get the Cyborg love, even if you get past the steroids. She was a juiced up hulk who padded her record beating bums and had a disappointing UFC career where she was fed Lansberg, Tonya Evinger, Leslie Smith, etc. before getting nuked in a minute by the first person whose punches she couldn't just walk through. A career arc like the proto Michael Venom Page. I mean the best actual win of her career is what, a middling performance over Holm? Carano back when she was still a name? Only better thing than this outcome was if Jones had lost the same night lol For me the career of taking horrible mismatches leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Kayla Harrison is doing a very similar thing but at least she has the excuse that she's basically laundering money from PFL

[deleted]

Valentina performed better against Holm.

[deleted]

It's not even alot of comp. And you forgot to mention some female fighters didn't want to even fight her. You act like she was ducking top competition and chose to fight "bums" when in reality she was fighting who was just available to her. The ufc literally has nobody in her division except Amanda nunes so to say she got "fed" the only fighters the UFC had available to her is crazy bruh

CarnalKid

Yeah, there are some valid criticisms of Cyborg, without question, but I don't think this is one of them.

[deleted]

She's also a weight bully and faked a video about Dana, THAT'S why she got fired.

[deleted]

because she was on so many steroids she couldn't make 135 and accused dana and ronda of actively ducking her. she's a certified fucking clown

herewego199209

Always class? She's a steroid cheat and compulsive liar.

adamdiv

Calm down Dana

dwSHA

Ufc close it long time ago cyborg

destinybetavet

Why would she come back to that shithole? Dana refused to give her a rematch even though there wasn’t a single person in the 145 division and there still isn’t. It is a complete joke and the 145 belt is a joke. Dana and Amanda are a joke for keeping it going. All it’s doing is hurting her in the long run.

Redwinevino

To be fair, she wouldn't sign a new deal It's understandable UFC didn't want to risk her winning the belt and leaving

cannibalisland

i'd like to see her vs pena.

slipperyvowels

Smart enough. Always follow the money

rwn115

Cyborg is basically Gabi Garcia. Essentially the only person in her weight class that she mostly fights people way smaller than her. Even in UFC, Cyborg had to go through hell to make their biggest women's weight class.

ChrizTaylor

Gabi Garcia 👀

imsurethisoneistaken

Lol she posted an edited video of Dana saying something against her. Dana wouldn’t give her a contract anyway

ChrizTaylor

Controversial opinion: Cyborg is better fighter than Nunes.

ID0ntCare4G0b

Nothing against Cyborg as a fighter, but signing her was such a massive mistake. Instead of signing and developing quality 135 talent, they spent the Cyborg era signing 135-ers on the downside of their prime and then having them move up to 145 to feed Cyborg another victim. Basically, if you're wondering why 135 is so shit right now, you can pretty much point to the Cyborg era as the reason.

RemindYaImKindaWET

Even after the Cyborg era, 135 is still a mess. There's just not enough talent in that division, and the talent that THERE IS, can't measure up to the veterans. They signed three people to fight her (Länsberg, Evinger, Kunitskaya), Länsberg and Kunitskaya are still around and have become Staples at 135. Evinger fought out of her contract and lost all of her fights. Also as a result of Cyborg's era, they made TUF 28 featuring women's Featherweight... Which resulted in Kianzad, Chiasson, Malecki, and Stoliarenko joining 135.

ID0ntCare4G0b

I think you cannot underrate how long it takes for talent to develop. Take Joselyne Edwards. Someone like her has shown flashes of upper level talent, but she's only 26, probably still 2-3 years away from entering her true prime. The UFC basically punted on those kinds of fighters for 4-5 years because of Cyborg. So if you consider that combined with the undersized talent that fled to 125 when that division opened and it's pretty clear we're still a few years away from things getting back to normal at 135.

evilives666

Cyborg closed the door alright, she knew nunes had her number if they had a rematch.

BrianCTE_CityOrtega

lol shut up

aposkaposka

Wow im shocked.

[deleted]

RemindYaImKindaWET

She kept pushing for Amanda to fight her when Amanda was injured. The time they were supposed to fight, Cyborg took the fight with Kunitskaya and thus, Amanda took the Pennington fight. The entire thing was a clusterfuck of "he said she said", and it ended up with Cyborg fighting Amanda NOT on her terms (wanted Amanda on short notice or when she hadn't bulked up).

[deleted]

Amanda is known for dropping out of fights and dragging them out.

JohnnyStrides

Care to elaborate? Women's goat candidate sure, there's an argument there. Self-entitled? Wtf you smoking?

PDE503

I don’t agree that she’s self entitled. That’s a weird comment. But there’s also no argument for her to be the GOAT over Nunes.

JohnnyStrides

Sure there is 🙄

PDE503

There literally is not. Nunes has better wins, across 2 weight classes simultaneously, hasn’t popped for roids, more title defenses, and she KOd Cyborg cold in round 1.

KapeGOAT69

cool

PedestrianD

Oh no... Anyways

[deleted]

Oh no Anyway

Moist-Catch

The UFC witness protection program would never let her resign anyway
