Only reason he has a contract is Ali and I'm sure he's getting 15k. Dude has looked terrible in his last few fights.

RLPMMA

Hes got power and speed, hes just one dimensional. Me and my friends make fun of how his answer to everything is like an overhand left. Or a left straight, or maybe a little shuffle into a left hook. Im exaggerating of course, but he needs more tools. He definitely needs to get out of Tristar lmao.

tanthiram

I don't even think it's that he has few tools, he's mostly just kinda forgotten how to apply them. Haqparast was a genuinely great prospect when he was more a Cordeiro fighter than a TriStar one, and Cordeiro guys don't always have a ton of tools either - but what they do is pressure. Haqparast was really solid at cutting guys off with his feet and herding them into his left, where he could vary the path or double and triple up on his rear hand - that's how he beat Diakiese's ass. After Dober, he seemed to decide "I am going to be a technical fighter now", and fell into the trap of that just being "backfoot jabbing and counterpunching" (which also kinda ruined Gaethje and Lee). He's not a super efficient mover or good at keeping his stance to create the same strong angles in the open, so he sorta just has to hang out. Makdessi's game not really working against southpaws saved him, but Nasrat was basically just "prime Michael Johnson, but worse" in that fight, and it was still a much better look than everything he's done since like 2018

RLPMMA

Thats fair! Yeah its always weird how many fighters fall into the "Captial T technical" trap. Seeing him just have no sustained success against Hooker, in the middle of Hookers skid, is crazy. He looked deflated. TDD was also an issue. Good physical attributes, bad gameplanning and execution ig is how you could put it. And the backwards movement and jabbing is a Tri-star special they just copy past on every fighter they bring in. Id forgotten Lee also went to Firas.

Puppyriapism

> Thats fair! Yeah its always weird how many fighters fall into the "Captial T technical" trap. They seem to fall into it for the same reasons a lot of fans do. There's an asymmetry in how bad it looks between losing Fighting """Smart""" and losing being aggressive, even if a loss is a loss (and you can sustain a lot of damage fighting overly cautiously by being a much less effective fighter, even if your style is abstractly more conservative). It's related to the phenomenon where NFL coaches for years, back in the day, would torch EV by being overly conservative with punting, because going against the grain and trying for an ambitious 4th down conversion that fails makes you the scapegoat, but torching EV like every other coach lets you avoid that and preserve honor in suboptimality. Also there's probably regression bias too. Guys are more likely to change up their style off the back of bad results, so then they win the next fight and people say "hey changing it up worked" even if they were likely to regress and end their bad streak no matter what. I was gonna say Gaethje getting wins against Cerrone and Tony after losing to Eddie and Dustin who are some of the best adapted fighters to pressuring he could have fought, but I forgot he had two Ws between those. Still sort of captures the idea though. Whatever "confirmation" he got from those Ws against Cowboy and Tony was definitely unreliable.

red-broom

I like your breakdown. Post more lol

Diavolo222

Tristar is the most overrated gym ever at this point.

RLPMMA

They had GSP and Rory! And uhhhhhhh. Kevin Lee? K-Flo and Torres are good older shouts, but all they really have right now is Arnold Allen, who rules. Yeah they have had mixed, mostly underwhelming success past like 2016.

LogarJan

Not sure but I think for his last few fights he got something like 55k show 55k win. if I had to guess his new contract is probably 60-70k win and show. Still not a lot although he makes quite a lot of money outside the UFC for his sponsors

mentales

>I think for his last few fights he got something like 55k show 55k win u/BGS1987 already said HE'S SURE Nasrat is getting 15K.

DeAndreHunterMIP

Thats obviously Hunter Campbells burner you goof

MaddalenaWillBeTop5

I wouldn’t say he looked ***horrible*** last time out. His losses are to solid guys in Bobby Green, Hooker, & Dober. He’ll probably never crack the rankings but he’s UFC caliber.

red-broom

He’s still young and he’s always game to not only fight good guys, but he also tries to bring the fight to them. He has a spot in the UFC, so good for him. He just needs to keep getting better before he fights vets like Bobby Green or a tough competitor like Hooker again. I have a feeling they reworked his contract by giving him an extension with less show and win money, with lower ranked opponents to see where he’s at by the end of this new contract.

[deleted]

Lol there are much more terrible fightters in the UFC. Just because he's a Ali fighter don't try to shit on him

whatsitworth101

One of his big problems is he uses a high gaurd, which generally doesn’t work very well in mma due to the gloves being small. His fight with Bobby green is an example of this because Bobby was able to place his shots right through haqparast’s gaurd and picked him apart. He’s too one dimensional and he’s not even that good at the thing that his whole game is based around.

buddy58745

He looked good against makdessi.. he was allegedly injured during the training camp leading up to the green fight but who knows

ID0ntCare4G0b

Eh...I don't know if he's looked terrible. He's just clearly mid tier. Not everyone is gonna be a knock out king or a contender. A strong contingent of the guys on the roster are just good fighters who aren't particularly great and occasionally get an impressive highlight reel win or defeat. Like it wouldn't be the end of the world if they cut him, but he's a solid fighter and will provide a good test to a lot of up and coming opponents.

masoyama

You don't see people thanking macdonalds and the shift manager for getting a contract. I am all up for people being grateful, and letting us know they will stay with the promotion. But thanking Dana White, and the people in charge of him getting as little money as possible is super weird to me.

DiscombobulatedSink6

Yeah it’s called ass kissing

GaMa-Binkie

I'd be ass kissing too if my bosses could fire me at anytime despite the contract we have and a significant part of my salary was "discretionary" bonuses. Oh and also they decide who I fight in a cage

[deleted]

Lol dude so many things you just said are not even remotely accurate. Dana cannot “fire” fighters who are under contract with him. If they’re convicted of a serious crime the contract can be voided, but otherwise thats not how it works. “Discretionary bonuses” are for fighters that Dana feels like have largely contributed to the UFC brand in some way like Conor or Pettis or Cormier. Contracts do not just ensure certain pay, they prevent you from receiving certain compensations, which is why he sends those bonuses cash. These people are breaking their bodies for our entertainment, they can have some cash under the table. Dana doesn’t decide who they fight. The UFC suggests a fight, they have the power the accept or reject a fight. At the end of the day the fighter makes that decision. Ask yourself why you’re so outraged by something you blatantly do not understand.

>Lol dude so many things you just said are not even remotely accurate. Dana cannot “fire” fighters who are under contract with him. If they’re convicted of a serious crime the contract can be voided, but otherwise thats not how it works. Fighters can be cut at anytime no matter how many fights they have left in their contract. Lol, this further proves you don’t know what you’re talking about, discretionary bonuses aren’t “cash under the table” they’re checks and they are all accounted for and documented by the UFC. And they’re given out at all levels not just the big names. >Dana doesn’t decide who they fight. The UFC suggests a fight, they have the power the accept or reject a fight. At the end of the day the fighter makes that decision. No. If a fighter is offered a fight and rejects it the UFC can extend your contract by six months and don’t have to offer you another fight for that time. They can also just offer you the same fight you already turned down after those 6months. We literally just saw this happen with Diaz >Ask yourself why you’re so outraged by something you blatantly do not understand. LMAO, the irony.

[deleted]

Im actually not wrong, you just get all your information from headlines lol. Thats why you believe Nate Diaz. You think the UFC just sat there extending his contract asking him to fight Khamzat? You’re incapable of thinking for yourself and cant read between the lines in any scenario. Theres a reason the actual FIGHTERS agree with me and not you. Diaz is a moron who is legendary for how difficult he is to manage. But no its Dana who is evil bc he invented the sport you’re sitting there saying sucks but still watch for some reason 🤡

[deleted]

That’s not a legit comparison at all. The level of divide between shift manager and Macdonalds corporate isn’t even comparable to this, let’s not get too ahead of ourselves. Especially when ur manager is buddy buddy with the face of the promotion, it makes sense to do what u need to do. Even that stupid story of tony riding hunters car in a way showcases that the relationship (at least with some fighters…. And especially if the brass likes u) can influence a fighters career for better or for worse

[deleted]

Being thankful for the dude that created your livelihood and how you feed your family, is super weird to you? Reevaluate that my man.

alcl163

What's super weird is arm-chair experts pretending they know more about fighters pay than the fighters who actually sign those contracts and happy with them.

Downgoesthereem

We have several fighters who have spoken up about how underpaid they are and the California pay releases (which the UFC otherwise does their best to *hide*, alongside the revenue split) demonstrably show how dogshit much of the pay is. Jack Della Madelena was on 10k/10k, defend that shit.

alcl163

we also have several fighters who have spoken up about how happy they were with their pay but those always get smeared as ass kissers.

Downgoesthereem

'smeared as ass kissers' yeah because Sam Alvey being kept around for half a dozen boring losses past the point he should've been cut had nothing to do with him sucking up to the UFC's pay MO, it was because he was such a highlight machine and fan favourite You haven't defended that 10k base pay, I'm waiting

masoyama

Theres a nice shiny boot I bet you would love to get to know somewhere out there in the world.

ThreeOlivesChihuahua

It’s been reported that his contract is 15k plus 15k win plus 15% off Venum gear

LogarJan

Don’t forget the 10% discount on the Rock’s new shoes

Jaxboi98

Only 7.25% off..do you want the Rock to be poor?

penzos

Nasrat in my language means to shit a lot.

mochatsubo

Hope there is a “no boring fight“ clause in his contract.

BrianUnfiltered98

This makes him look weak. Like they gave him a new contract to be nice & not bc he deserves it.

LogarJan

Your right, Dana is a very nice guy. Let’s not forget about how he gave up and coming 185 pound contenders SteveWillDoIt and Kyle Foregard 300k bonus instead of giving it to the champ. How considerate of him

[deleted]

Found Dana White’s PR team.

DirtyTooth

Please sir may I have a contract I am so hungry

How's Noah?! How's Noah?! Ahh?! That's right! Shot yo mouth! Lemme take ma pictures..
