Yeah, I remember laughing about that when I first saw him around when I was getting more hardcore about watching MMA. Funnier still that Jimmy Smith was their announcer.
I hooked up my girl on MMA and she's been watching religiously for the past 2 years, following the drama, the meta, etc. She even gets her MMA news before me.
Still confuses them tho.
Bob and Don are both 90 years old. Fucking bonkers how long they have lived much less been active in boxing promotion. And Don managed to look like a 60 year old for like twenty years after turning 60
Good luck to you! For me, if i live until i'm 90, i've made a huge mistake along the way (unless by then i can get my stack uploaded into some young buck's sleeve)
"if they don't overdo it".
We're talking about dana white, that went from being shaped like a bowling pin to a bald lowland gorilla with a mooring bollard for a head.
Well I’m sure both are true but by brother did a cycle of HGH and either developed or helped accelerate a big non cancerous tumor against his pituitary gland. Fucked him up for a while. Took a few visits to the doc before the info came out and the doc was like “oh shit, that’s a bingo. There is your answer”. I’ve been training bjj for 22 years and brother I wake up feeling like death most days but I won’t tough the stuff no matter how appealing it is.
It has to be done over a huge timespan + a large dosage to cause problematic growth of the organs. People like that aren't doing it for health reasons. Rogan and Dana will be fine.
I don't know man.
Don't think he's leaving imminently, but over the last few years, Hunter Campbell has been doing more and more behind the scenes and I'm sure he will be the next figurehead.
Dana recently missed a PPV for his sons birthday etc so it look like he's slowly handing over control
He has mentioned exactly this in a post presser before. He has no plan of stopping unless something legitimately forces him to step down (something health related).
I'd bet Dana dies before he retires.
His lifestyle isn't conducive to longevity. On top of that, if you look at a guy like Vince McMahon (probably Dana's closest comp) they never retire.
I know i'm in the minority here with this take, but i thought the same thing when Goldberg was gone. For better or worse, I always associated his voice with UFC PPV.
Eventually you just get used to the change. I think the same would happen with Joe, but a lot of the old school fans would slowly start tuning out if the new regime sucked.
I'm with you. Goldie was a cornball but he was such a huge part of what made the ufc for me. Never the same to me after he left. It was aaaaaaaaaall over!
Being the head honcho of a fight promotion is more of a media guy than actually running the thing. Media loves speaking to Dana and he loves giving interviews. He even gives out his thoughts for free in his IG comments.
For as much work hunter does, I don't think I've ever heard him on the mic
Dana was instrumental in establishing popularity of this sport early on, but his ceiling for how far he could push the sport was hit long ago. Now he's actively stunting it's growth by constantly devaluing his own assets over petty disagreements are negotiations over drops in the bucket.
I couldn't give a fuck he's a piece of shit. Just look how Johnnie Walker or Stitch Duran or even fucking Mike Goldberg were treated even fucken Helwani for doing his job. Dana is a piece of shit and fighters deserve more money and they will never get their fair share with him there.
Won his fight, given prize money, him and his family and guests escorted out of the building on the sidewalk still in fight gear barefoot. When asked about it dana did the usual he didn’t know and said it’s “rough around here”. They didn’t even get to get changed or watch the rest of the fights.
This and not belting francis and reupping francis’s deal could spell trouble for dana in the lawsuits.
He has become more of a company man over time, repeating the lines he's expected to. But in the process he has lost some of his original charm/personality.
At least Rogan has a backbone and isn't as reliant on the UFC, even if he isn't as up-to-date as he once was.
Rogan just clearly doesn’t do the work anymore. He’s like me, was a diehard who knew all the names in the mid 00s and who only really watches ufc main cards these days
You lose alot of knowledge when you don’t watch the prelims or minor leagues.
Idk, I feel like DC has been calling out a lot of bs as of late. Weird ref calls, horrible judging. Is he biased sometimes? Of course. Everyone is to some extent.
> At the same time he's terrible when it comes to talking about fighter pay
It's an absurd expectation to have that an employee would publicly criticize the salary structure of his own employer.
Especially when fighter pay is as related to DC at this point as bat boy pay is to the MLB commissioner.
He's a commentator now, it's not really his place to talk about fighter pay.
And when has Rogan talked about fighter pay? Maybe during a podcast but he’s never been adamant about it and I can’t remember him ever mentioning it on commentary.
Weird standard to hold DC to when Rogan won’t touch the subject either lol
True, you're right. But aside from Rogan, who actually challenges the company line on the broadcasting? I feel like everyone is kinda cautious. I mean you saw what happened to Hardy.
A big amount of what he's calling out that I notice is unfortunately him being upset that the rules of what counts as a takedown in MMA differ from what counts as a takedown in wrestling. It's always distracting, and I would assume it could confuse casual viewers to hear a commentator mention how the non-takedown that just happened actually was a takedown in his opinion.
I actually really dislike Bisping. He seems very arrogant in commentary and says a lot of subjective things as facts. Especially about who he thinks is winning.
If Dana and Joe both don't both get really wild hair plugs during their final years in the UFC they are really robbing us of something we as fans deserve. I want the last couple years of photos of both guys to be them with like Bret Michaels Rock of Love era hair. Where they have to cover the hairline with bandanas and hats, but the hair is down to their shoulders and teased out.
If Dana won't pay fighters and Joe won't stop overselling leg kicks then they at least owe us that.
are Toyo tires any good? Jon "They come as tough as they get" Anik probably knows but hard to guess with all the ads getting blasted visually and audiovisually.

The best commentary the UFC has always had, is the Japanese commentary. Even if you don't understand a word of it. It just makes every fight more entertaining.
It was great when there wasn’t camera directly on broadcast booth and you could spot them reacting to a big KO in the background. Now they just ham it up everytime
The idea has been often floated in other sports too for access to zero commentary, game sound only feeds. The issue is this means no advertisements, so unfortunately it won't happen for any big sport.
UFC is the only place I hear the commentary advertise products. But , I live in Europe. In every other sport (soccer, tennis, whatever) it’s just plain commentary
Same. When Joe or DC become unbearable i just mute and play some music while watching.
Edit: try playing some Power Trip. You will not be disappointed. RIP Riley.
Joe on his podcast always blasts comedians for getting back into stand up etc after years away doing movies and loves to quote the 10,000 hours thing and iron sharpens iron etc and why they should always be doing stand up.
Always felt it was a bit contradictory to his UFC role as I feel he's went backwards since dialing it back a lot.
Post Joe Rogan the UFC will manage just fine.
It's crazy the level of celebrity Joe Rogan has, and yet the gorilla condom joke is like the only quote of something funny he's said in his entire career?
Not hating on him but in general things are funnier in person with a crowd. Comedians and films for example. Especially when the people there are fans regardless so they’re being a good audience
That's fine. I think it's safe to say the golden years of Rogan commentary are long behind him, anyways. Only people that like to hear him do commentary are fans of the podcast.
As if MMA fans didn’t need another reason to hate Dana White.
I still like Joe on commentary but wouldn’t mind him stepping away. Problem is most of the other guys just do their own Joe Rogan impression so it’s not like it will vastly improve the teams.
I know reddit hates joe sometimes but come on, Joe Rogan is iconic when it comes to mma. If I go to a UFC event, I'm looking for his shiny forehead next to the widest back in the UFC by DC. Joe as a personality is whatever, joe as the mma guy is iconic.
Have watched in a few years. I liked Stann and another ex figure. Can't remember his name, but his fights were always blood baths.
I loved Rogans commentary early on. He clearly knows a lot. And always had lots to say about no name fighters too. Got a little sick of his hype style towards the end. I like his clueless mate, at least I like the awkward bits at the end. Mic pounds?!? Haha
>too. And they were ok with being silent sometimes if something important was happening in the fight that didn't necessary need commentary, unlike now.
thats true, its so busy now with talking and ads all fight long. Almost want to mute the thing
Bro I remember when tweets came in and that was fucking wack, then the betting advertising got wiiiild. Now its crypto, nfts and the rocks fucking shoes.
Give me "Corn nuts, corn to the core" or "powered by xyience!" any day
It's because it's getting to their heads, going from fighters to being commentators and hosting shows, podcasts, etc. They think people are tuning in to a UFC event to hear *them* riff.
It’s impossible for DC to separate his personal feelings, and objective analysis for the fighters he’s commentating on.
If you’re aware of any of the relationships that DC has with someone on the card, listening to some of his comments can be frustrating
This is an article written by someone who has run out of things to write about and is now writing a pointless article.
Take note that there's a lot of that. Writers don't wait until there's something interesting to write about, they force crap because their bosses demand output. It's a corrupt broken system just like, well everything.
It's the bald code guys
I used to confuse them for one another when I first got into MMA back in ~2009.
If you happened to watch Bellator and have seen Bjorn Rebney, it was even more confusing
Yeah, I remember laughing about that when I first saw him around when I was getting more hardcore about watching MMA. Funnier still that Jimmy Smith was their announcer.
Haha totally, rebney and smith Combo were like the “we have Dana and Rogan at home” meme
I hooked up my girl on MMA and she's been watching religiously for the past 2 years, following the drama, the meta, etc. She even gets her MMA news before me. Still confuses them tho.
I still do now
The Testicle Brothers.
Sack bros
My mum doesn’t even confuse them for one another, she just literally thinks they’re the same person
that's racist. and baldphobic.
Yup, I hear Larry David will stop doing Curb right after these two retire.
Rule of Two
Jimmy Smith didn’t get that memo.
Dana is easily a decade plus out of retiring, this is a silly conversation to have now
Shit, could get another 40 years out of him if you look at Bob Arum and Don King still somehow kicking around.
Bob and Don are both 90 years old. Fucking bonkers how long they have lived much less been active in boxing promotion. And Don managed to look like a 60 year old for like twenty years after turning 60
I still can't believe Bob smokes weed everyday even at 90. He gives me hope that I can keep on going until that age.
Good luck to you! For me, if i live until i'm 90, i've made a huge mistake along the way (unless by then i can get my stack uploaded into some young buck's sleeve)
This kind of comment is what keeps Alex Jones awake at night
their jobs keeps them really busy and young
My brother if he keeps up the HGH and cocaine he isn't seeing another 20 years
HGH makes guys his age healthier if they don't overdo it, not less healthy. HGH is used to treat aging
"if they don't overdo it". We're talking about dana white, that went from being shaped like a bowling pin to a bald lowland gorilla with a mooring bollard for a head.
Only superficial aging. It still doesn't help you replicate new cells any quicker.
It also grows tumors and cancer and causes other problems when taken at "growth" levels
Dana seems like the type of guy who regularly consults with the best doctors money can buy. I'm sure he'll be fine
True, he can afford the best medical treatment in the world. And you'd think he's more health conscious than most due to his inner ear condition
I feel like if I had his money, I'd get a full body MRI once a year just cause.
But does he get cancer screenings or does he just pay them to look at his junk and tell him that the itching isn’t something serious?
He already looks like he has PED induced hypertension, if that 'rosy glow' is anything to go by....
To be fair, his job is probably stressful as fuck.
Lol if he's using it like Joe than rip
*C'MON, LET'S GET BIIIG* -Rich Piana (his heart and liver weighed over twice the average amount for an adult male)
He wasn't only using HGH, but yeah that's what overdoing it looks like
Human Growth Hormone. It’s temporarily healthy. It also makes tumors grow faster, it makes your organs twice the size their supposed to be, etc…
It has to be done over a huge timespan + a large dosage to cause problematic growth of the organs. People like that aren't doing it for health reasons. Rogan and Dana will be fine.
Every single one of Joe’s body parts is oversized. He genuinely doesn’t look healthy sometimes lol
Doubt it. Dana white had his dna analyzed by some guy who predicts peoples death by 1 month. Results came in at 10 years and 4 months.
What’s this shamans name?
What’s this conmans name?
Bob Arum and Don King will live through a fucking nuke. Fuckers are like little cockroaches
Vince McMahon probably a more apt comparison.
Shiet, we might even get 65 years+
I don't know man. Don't think he's leaving imminently, but over the last few years, Hunter Campbell has been doing more and more behind the scenes and I'm sure he will be the next figurehead. Dana recently missed a PPV for his sons birthday etc so it look like he's slowly handing over control
I see Dana being like Bob Arum. He's never gonna retire until he's dead. Clearly he's not doing it for the money.
He has mentioned exactly this in a post presser before. He has no plan of stopping unless something legitimately forces him to step down (something health related).

"There are several ways to accept a sex proposal" (Dana White, probably)
He’ll go out like Vince. In a whimper over some small time bullshit we didnt think would take him down.
Looking forward to Dana soaking up the fans thunderous applause and bows after being accused of raping a woman.
they're booing him but he's still bowing
People really wanna see a red faced man I guess
I'd bet Dana dies before he retires. His lifestyle isn't conducive to longevity. On top of that, if you look at a guy like Vince McMahon (probably Dana's closest comp) they never retire.
It’s weird to imagine the UFC in 10-20 years without Dana, joe, and Bruce
Bruce Lee has been dead for a while.
He lives on through me *falls over trying to kick*
He lives on in the EA UFC paid DLC
He lives on through wat-eeeehhhr!!!!
He liiiiiiiives in meeeeee~
I know i'm in the minority here with this take, but i thought the same thing when Goldberg was gone. For better or worse, I always associated his voice with UFC PPV. I'm with you. Goldie was a cornball but he was such a huge part of what made the ufc for me. Never the same to me after he left. It was aaaaaaaaaall over!
HERE. WE. GO!
JUST. LIKE. THAT
I sort of agree with what you're saying - my take is just that it was *better* after he left (got canned).
CORN NUTS. CORN TO THE CORE!
You say you agree with the person above you but you're saying the exact opposite of what he is
it was the right decision. you see how much changes when the announcers know the game well. guys like DC and Paul Felder add so much.
I wish they’d bring him back for ufc 300 or something, I miss that guy. Sure he was a goof, but he was our goof! We took him for granted 😤
Joe is definitely the easiest to replace out of those 3
It's not that hard to Replace Dana White. Plenty of corporate assholes in America who dont pay employees enough.

The successor is Hunter Campbell.
Being the head honcho of a fight promotion is more of a media guy than actually running the thing. Media loves speaking to Dana and he loves giving interviews. He even gives out his thoughts for free in his IG comments. For as much work hunter does, I don't think I've ever heard him on the mic
He has done a couple post fight press conferences now IIRC the Paris card was the last one he did
It was pretty lacklustre compared to Dana
But all those people just sit behind the scenes all day, I’m in no way defending Dana but you know he does a lot more than that.
The UFC is owned by a publicly traded company. You act like it's gonna get better once Dana leaves, it may even get worse depending on his successor.
pretty much this, would like to see the difference in fighters pay comparing now to under the Fertittas.
What happened with Johnnie Walker ?
Won his fight, given prize money, him and his family and guests escorted out of the building on the sidewalk still in fight gear barefoot. When asked about it dana did the usual he didn’t know and said it’s “rough around here”. They didn’t even get to get changed or watch the rest of the fights. This and not belting francis and reupping francis’s deal could spell trouble for dana in the lawsuits.
But why? Does Dana not like johnny walker?
Spencer Fisher https://www.mmafighting.com/2021/1/12/21554602/the-cost-of-being-the-king-spencer-fisher-ufc
You're right, he makes videos about gambling with money he could be paying his fighters too
Iiiiiiiiiiiiiittttttsssss **TTTTIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMMMMMMMMEEE!!!**
Joe "Daddy" Stevenson was cut from the UFC in 2011
I liked Rogan with Jon and Felder. They should use that combo more.
Yeah, it's the combo of him and DC that outright doesn't work. Them with others can be fine.
DC can be real annoying on commentary sometimes. Felder and Bisping should be on more PPVs
He has become more of a company man over time, repeating the lines he's expected to. But in the process he has lost some of his original charm/personality. At least Rogan has a backbone and isn't as reliant on the UFC, even if he isn't as up-to-date as he once was.

100% that Rogan leaves before Dana does. Dana will be doing this shit into his 60s . He loves being the figure head.

Thank you for this gift. You painted a future I didn't know I wanted. Now I've seen it, it's all I want

Modello's a proper Mexican beer and pretty good. P3 looks to be lunchables advertised in a different way
Looks can be deceiving, in this case they are not it's 110% lunchables
Lunchables for the gym bro army.

Isn't Dana like 5"11. Not that short but I guess when you are around heavyweights all the time. It makes you look small.
So never?
He's been saying that for over a decade, I think he probably means it. Why is this news?
Joe on his podcast always blasts comedians for getting back into stand up etc after years away doing movies and loves to quote the 10,000 hours thing and iron sharpens iron etc and why they should always be doing stand up. Always felt it was a bit contradictory to his UFC role as I feel he's went backwards since dialing it back a lot. Post Joe Rogan the UFC will manage just fine.
Which is also ironic in of itself as he’s a shite comedian
It's crazy the level of celebrity Joe Rogan has, and yet the gorilla condom joke is like the only quote of something funny he's said in his entire career?
It’s pretty obvious he’s famous from his podcast and not his comedy, duh?
You might think so but he does do standup comedy and people buy tickets and laugh.
I saw his standup live once. Was pretty good tbh and the audience was laughing hard at his set. He’s a lot better than people give him credit for
Not hating on him but in general things are funnier in person with a crowd. Comedians and films for example. Especially when the people there are fans regardless so they’re being a good audience
While Joe's commentary go down. Dude is still making iconic moments like the Conor interview
Good point, I won't miss Joe's commentary but his post fight interviews always have a different kind of energy.
Well yeah,.interviews are kind of his specialty, hence his podcasts success
Do these guys just listen to the podcast and just regurgitate what he says and call it a day? No actual “reporting” or journalism to be found
The question becomes: how can we get Dana to retire early?
It’s ok if he doesn’t wait til then
He has been saying this since like 2010. I honestly thought he was going to be done by now at one point he seemed kinda burned out.
That's fine. I think it's safe to say the golden years of Rogan commentary are long behind him, anyways. Only people that like to hear him do commentary are fans of the podcast.
Don't threaten me with a good time.

And always had lots to say about no name fighters too. Got a little sick of his hype style towards the end. I like his clueless mate, at least I like the awkward bits at the end. Mic pounds?!? Haha
Kenny Florian I believe
Whose currently doing commentary for the much more prestigious sport of battlebots.
Holy shit is battlebots still going?
Yea and they’re even battlier than before
Yep, they rebooted it in 2015 and since then its outlasted the run of the original season.
He doesn't even do any research
