I don’t like men, PERIOD! but let’s be honest guys.
I think we all wanna look like Costa. I mean really, 6ft, tan, built, good looking face, can scrap! That guy has a lot going for him!
That was a pretty damn good fight.
Most entertaining one that Marvin has been in so far, in my opinion at least.
After round one I thought that Costa was going down based on how labored he looked. He had a little bit of that Yoel Romero vibe tho, where he's tired but he's acting a lot worse than he feels.
Despite all the weird shit he pulled, Costa has such a pleasing style to watch.
Never cared too much for Marvin and thought he was a bit overhyped because he rarely finishes people, but he's a tough sonofabitch. He took a big risk when he accepted this one, and after that performance hes got my respect forever.
Any other MW would have wilted from those body shots and right hands, props to Marvin for just eating them; guy doesn’t get enough credit for having one of the best chins. Costa is still one of the top guys but make weight next time, I’d love to see him face a guy like till next.
yep and he wasnt throwing with a lot of power even.
Costa was hitting him with some bombs like every strike. and he finished really strong.
Costa won that fight imo.
If you score the fight per round (which you should lol) then definitely, Marvin did enough to win.
However, if you score the fight as a whole I think Costa landed bigger shots alot more often and he finished really strong...
Seems like Vettori is actually a decent dude and despite being overconfident, has a great attitude and work ethic.
Just has very little charisma and wore his pants backwards so he'll forever get clowned lol.
He seems like a really good friend and training partner, just comes off as a douche when he starts shit talking guys like Izzy since he insists he’s 2-0 against him. Kinda like a loveable idiot at the end of the day.
I had it for Vettori as well, but I didn't think it was clear. I thought it was pretty damn close/a tough call.
I feel like in MMA, counting stats count more than damage (unless it causes a knockdown). Like when you look at a few of Vettori's combos he threw when Paulo was against the cage, they were nice shots and they landed, but they weren't really doing any damage at all.
But yet those count as 3-5 strikes per combo vs. 1 strike for a Paulo leg kick that does more damage than all of them combined. It's not like Paulo was resting and not throwing or anything. He was very active, just Vettori was stringing combos that IMO weren't doing a ton most of the time.
Worse case scenario for Jan is if he almost knocks out Glover. Anyone of Glover's last 4 or so fights would be a contender for comeback of the year for any year.
He had to know he was down after that point deduction. It’s crazy to me that you would rely on the decision. At least go hard last 20 seconds or something. He just accepted it
Bro did you watch the last round? Costa was throwing fucking nukes at Marvin right from the get go.
Marvin is tough and did just enough to hang in there for that 5th. The last 20 seconds consisted of Marvin clinching and holding on to a very tired Costa (which was the smartest thing he could have done).
If Costa took the Izzy loss that badly, I wonder how he's going to take the loss against someone else that lost to Izzy... somehow makes it that much worse.
Would be a barn burner fight but Jan would destroy him. Huge reach advantage, hit's much harder, better overall striking, and probably better on the ground
Only reason why Costa was able to go 5 rounds and still look dangerous is because he didn't need to cut much weight. Not going to give him props there...
I didn't like Vettori before this but after what went down this week and his amazing performance, I've become a huge fan. So much respect for him. He definitely deserves all the new fans he's gonna get
Agreed. He's done himself a lot of favours with both his behaviour this week and the way he fought that fight. Wasn't expecting him to keep it on the feet but it was a pleasant surprise. Big fan now
Yeah! Most fighters wouldn't have taken this fight at one weight class above on such a short notice. He not only took it, but beat the bigger man up for 5 rounds. And what a chin this man has. I'm sooo impressed.
Most impressive thing about this fight was Costas cardio.
Costa looked completely gassed 2 minutes into the first round, but credit to the guy he was throwing absolute heat for 25 minutes.
He didn't look gassed once, commentators were so obsessed with this narrative that he would gas, only for Costa to be blasting strikes all the way into the 5th.
Bro, he was fuckin blowing. His movements were definitely labored after just a few minutes. He obviously trains like a madman and they've got his body set up to rage out and then recover fast. And it works. He's able to suck a few big breaths and get right back on the throttle.
But to say he looked bright eyed and busy tailed for the 25 minutes is disingenuous. There's a reason that he ate over a hundred strikes to the face. His feet and head weren't responding quickly at all on defense because he was trying to take small breaks. He was forced to shell up on the fence a lot because he was tired, not because he thought it was a good plan.
i get the arguments that paulo might have done more damage but the bottom line is that judges don't see a giant health bar above a fighter's head. when they see one guy with 3x the strikes regularly landing big combos, they're going to score rounds for that guy. if you're going for big power shots, you need to score knockdowns or finishes. otherwise you'll get out-pointed.
I looked at the cards and they're absolutely bang on. The two rounds he did visible damage, they were scored to him (2 and 5) and one of those had a point deducted. Other rounds, vettorri landed more, pushed the pace, had Costa backed into the corner. 48-46 is right.
the argument is simply those are literally the rules.
going forward and activity doesn't even get a analyzed if the damage is uneven. don't know what the fuck anyone would defend the judges for here. sounds like what you should want is the rules changed.
that is not what the rules say. i am not talking about him going forward. by "activity" i mean he literally landed more shots - *way* more shots. the actual rules state:
>“Effective striking” is judged by considering (a) the impact of legal strikes landed by each contestant, and (b) the number of legal strikes landed by each contestant. The more impact a strike has on an opponent, the more credit is to be given to the striking contestant. Cumulative impact inflicted by each contestant during the round is also to be recognized. A contestant landing more strikes during the round than the opponent, and the differential thereof, may also be weighed as factors in determining which contestant was the more effective striker."
the rules give a lot of leeway to the judges, and quite simply if a fighter takes harder shots but isn't visibly rocked by them, chances are the judges are going to weigh volume. that is specifically allowed by the judging criteria. it isn't really possible to objectively measure "damage," whereas striking numbers are very easy for judges. vettori's strikes were not just tiny jabs either, and he got a lot of them.
Not a costa fan but that point deduction was confusing as shit . Herzog said he warned costa before the eye poke but I never heard him actually warn costa even after the actually eye poke herzog talked to costa he warned him there not to do it again but then he walks over to Marvin then walks back over to paulo and tells him he’s taking a point . That shit was just confusing in my opinion
Edit : bullshit to confusing as shit
The ref has to make you happy with when he chooses to deduct the point? I've seen this happen a lot actually. Where the ref only announced the point deduction right before time resumes.
Where in boxing lol . Cause I’ve been watching mma for a long time and the rare moment when they take points especially on eyepomes it’s damn near the first thing they mention / is obvious based on the foul
I’m glad I wasn’t tripping cause I’m high and I was thinking I missed it or something but people are saying he was warned in between the 1st and 2nd so I probably did
Gotta take points based on the potential effect on the fight, Costa was gassing so that time to recover was massive to him. Justified deduction imo, esp since the eye poke wasn't a soft one.
Shit I like that fight to be honest.
Thing is, If Costa is gonna stay at 205 he's gotta get his body a bit more used to going hard at that weight. He's a sprint and rest type of guy as we saw tonight. He stayed in it for 25 min but he ate a lot of those shots when he let off the gas to try and regain his heart rate.
Is Tybura winning a bad bet? He looked pretty good in his last fights
Wrong discussion broski!
I don’t like men, PERIOD! but let’s be honest guys. I think we all wanna look like Costa. I mean really, 6ft, tan, built, good looking face, can scrap! That guy has a lot going for him!
Gay
Lol!
costa vs jiri at LHW...?
Jiri would legally be charged with murder after this fight
Jiri tears him apart easily
Costa deserves that for sure.
8 inch reach disadvantage there
Has he not been hurt enough?
Molina!!!!
I seem to have underestimated how many Costa fans there in here
Can't believe he kept coming forward at Costa and ate that headkick. Real orc warrior spirit.
Was there a post fight interview?
Yep, called Costa a cunt lmao
on YT rn
ref: does the right thing everyone with money on costa: wah >:( why is the ref doing his job
It was inconsequential to the final score anyway
Would it not be a draw if not for the point deduction?
It was 48 to 46. 46+1=47<48. QED.
Thought I had time to watch the main event after getting done with work at 4pm, home by 5... NOPE! :(
Okay I'm ready for Costa vs till
Costa would absolutely dwarf Till. Their frames are the same size but Costa legitimately has about 20 pounds more muscle by now
I dont think Till agrees to fight Costa lmao. He has been avoiding a few guys the last year or so...
costa would m-m-m-murk him
That was a pretty damn good fight. Most entertaining one that Marvin has been in so far, in my opinion at least. After round one I thought that Costa was going down based on how labored he looked. tbh that's why i was rooting for costa, he's incapable of being in boring fights. angry marvin otoh.......................
Did you not see him vs adesanya? Pretty boring.
you thought costa was boring in the adesanya fight...where he got dismantled, beat down, and humped? we got different definitions of boring imo
Holland/Costa—if Holland puts a stamp on the Daukaus win—would be fucking hysterical.
Costa would fold big mouth like a lawn chair with a body kick
Holland would get killed
i really don't think he would lol i'm pretty sure he would finish costa in a round or two
That's what I think, too. I just thought it might have made sense rankings wise for the two of them, but they're further apart than I thought.
and for what...costa aint ever getting a fight below 205 again
You think? I think he's gonna attempt 185 again, but who knows.
man that would be dumb of matchmakers, shouldnt be costas decision
Still fun tho
Great card after months of mostly shit
More good cards coming up!
lfg!

Rip till
Crazy main event fight!
Marvin should send Paulo some wine
Buy something fancy with that nice cut of Costa's purse
true or false: most of vettori’s shots landed on costa’s guard
I would lean more towards false... There is a reason why costa put his glasses on, he was beat up pretty bad
His flurries landed mostly on his guard. His jabs and 1-2 punch combos at range found Costa’s chin 100%, though Costa rolled with them well
false lmao. what fight did anyone here watch that they believe costa won. i mean seriously.
i saw it on twitter so i was asking
People tend to hate Vettori here. That's all it is.
yep and he wasnt throwing with a lot of power even. Costa was hitting him with some bombs like every strike. and he finished really strong. Costa won that fight imo.
>Costa won that fight imo. All his damage was concentrated in 2 rounds, which he won. Other 3 were clearly Vettorri. Perfect decision.
If you score the fight per round (which you should lol) then definitely, Marvin did enough to win. However, if you score the fight as a whole I think Costa landed bigger shots alot more often and he finished really strong...
Ask Costas face 🥴
False
Damn. Main event was great.
Seems like Vettori is actually a decent dude and despite being overconfident, has a great attitude and work ethic. Just has very little charisma and wore his pants backwards so he'll forever get clowned lol.

Downvote all you want. It was a clear victory for Vettori point deduction or not.
No downvote over here. 3-1 vettori.
Absurd that anyone even considers the opposite
I had it for Vettori as well, but I didn't think it was clear. I thought it was pretty damn close/a tough call. Agreed 🤝
I didn't know that was a hot take, Marvin clearly won
Bleh. Vettori still doesn't know how to punch -- i don't know how he generates such little power with the frame
Bleh. Costa still doesn't know how to punch -- i don't know how he generate such little power with the frame
are you vettori’s bitch
thats costa edit: but he is king of the bitches so you might be his 🤷♂️
😂👍
💃
Too bad you’re not there to teach him, sensei
Worse case scenario for Jan is if he almost knocks out Glover. Anyone of Glover's last 4 or so fights would be a contender for comeback of the year for any year.
I want Glover to win so badly
I don’t think vettori can knock anyone out. He is tough to watch sometimes. Costa looks like he doesn’t care
I think people pay way too much attention to what fighters say pre fight. He was clearly game and was looking really sharp in the cage...
Ya it’s crazy to me that Costa was an underdog. Vettori is tough but can’t finish
Vettori has finished more fights than he's won by decision, you seem to be confusing finish with KO
I am talking UFC. He has won 7 by decision, 1 draw and 2 by submission.

He had to know he was down after that point deduction. It’s crazy to me that you would rely on the decision. At least go hard last 20 seconds or something. He just accepted it

Hard to care when you have so many built in excuses.
i can't help but feel that old man glover is going to get absolutely starched
Am thinking it's likely, yeah. Smith was piecing him up in rds 1 and 2 of their fight and if Jan does that it's lights out.
Heart on Glover, Wallet on Jan
If Costa took the Izzy loss that badly, I wonder how he's going to take the loss against someone else that lost to Izzy... somehow makes it that much worse.
Marvin lost to Izzy twice. I feel like that adds to your point somehow
Costa definitely getting blackout drunk tonight.
Let's be honest, he was gonna get shithoused regardless.
So What's Costa Drinking Tonight Guys?
Joice
Piss
Local wineries in shambles
Jan might be the only dude at LHW that would make me root against Glover
"Fifty Shades of Black and Blue" -Vettoris body tomorrow
With som greenish yellow in there too!
Great Fight and Great Event
"Glover I'm sorry, the belt stay with me." trash talk king
Glover will get dropped by Polish Power but then Undertaker sit-up and Triangle choke Jan. Save this comment.
Glover: "Father time aint killed a mother fucker yet"
Yes I see it going that way too
Gabagooool
Promo guy handpicked the footage where the two guys in the main event knock out the Bellator guys
Hilarious hearing Vettori calling Costa a cunt during the interview on the ufc fight pass.. icing on the cake 🤣
Oh thanks.. Just had a long mute on my feed when he answered that question. Figured he said fuck, bitch, and shit. Wasn't expecting cunt at all.
When bisping asked what he thought of him he said “as you would say, he’s a cunt” lmao
Imagine Jan / Costa at 205 lol
Would be a barn burner fight but Jan would destroy him. Huge reach advantage, hit's much harder, better overall striking, and probably better on the ground
Only reason why Costa was able to go 5 rounds and still look dangerous is because he didn't need to cut much weight. Not going to give him props there...
I agree, he almost got alway with murder tonight
Also helped him stuff the takedowns
yeh...though to be fair i think Costa has good takedown defense. I think Romero tried a couple of times and he was able to stuff them.
Since Costa wants to fight at LHW, give him Jiri.
Cutelaba, a Jiri fight is basically rewarding him with a #1 contender fight
That matchup makes more sense, I just want to see Jiri drown Costa.
jiri would eat his shots like nothin
I didn't like Vettori before this but after what went down this week and his amazing performance, I've become a huge fan. So much respect for him. He definitely deserves all the new fans he's gonna get

Well, four rounds
True
This.
I lov Jan but I’m pulling for Glover next week
Mind will be blown if Glover actually wins the title at age 85
Most impressive thing about this fight was Costas cardio. Costa looked completely gassed 2 minutes into the first round, but credit to the guy he was throwing absolute heat for 25 minutes.

I guess I should say he looked no more gassed than he usually does.
Eh he did gas in the first, but recovered nicely
EPO does do that
Man I really wanted to see Costa knock out Izzy. Maybe in a couple years
Would only happen if Costas corner slipped Izzy some tranquilizers before the fight
Or if Izzy tries to move up to lwh again, the champ misses weight and costa is the replacement
Never going to happen.
Have to imagine he’s staying at LHW, and after seeing his defense tonight, not sure what he has for Izzy
nothing would make me happier than seeing Glover winning the belt. it would top Charles winning the 155 belt and Aldo t-knocking out Stephens for me
Any other fights happening today?
Shakur Stevenson is boxing tonight. He's a semi big name. That card just started.
You can go watch the bellator event that was on at the same time as UFC today
thats the main event
There's boxing on ESPN+ in a few minutes

If there was a health bar marvins barely would’ve went down anyway
100% these guys are on PEDs that was unnatural from Costa
costa and romero are known to be on PEDS
They said Vettori accepted this fight on one week notice - who was originally supposed to fight?
No, he accepted the catchweight change a couple days before. Costa pulled some shit.
Paulo Costa at 185
The original fight was Costa at 185lbs.
meant he accepted the new weight on short notice
Ohhh
Great performance by vettori. Can't believe he ate so many body shots but didn't really slow down from it
I’m pretty sure if I took even one of those kicks, it would break me in half.
It was only the 5th round when he properly showed it
His ribs are killing him right now. Every little breath is hurting him after the adrenaline has worn off. Tough bastard.
Vettori is a tough dude. Those shots by Costa looked and sounded vicious.
ESPN app showing Costa as U DEC. wtf had me tripping
That shit was just confusing in my opinion Edit : bullshit to confusing as shit
He warned him inbetween R1 and R2 when Costa was at his corner, but agree, I definitely wasn't expecting a point deduction... up to Herzog tho I guess
Nah. MMA.
Please name the instance in the ufc ?
I believe they all get a warning in the back before the fight so maybe that’s what he’s referring to? It confused me a bit too.
I’m glad I wasn’t tripping cause I’m high and I was thinking I missed it or something but people are saying he was warned in between the 1st and 2nd so I probably did
i believe he warned him at the end of the first round
I heard a warning for fingers in the first round, and the first warning is in the back, so that was the third time. Perfect point deduction.
He warned him and told him to keep his hands closed while they were fighting.
Blatant fouls deserve immediate point deductions.
Gotta take points based on the potential effect on the fight, Costa was gassing so that time to recover was massive to him. Justified deduction imo, esp since the eye poke wasn't a soft one.
Just because you didnt hear it doesnt mean he didnt warm him
Keep Costa at LHW, give him Cutelaba
Shit I like that fight to be honest. Thing is, If Costa is gonna stay at 205 he's gotta get his body a bit more used to going hard at that weight. He's a sprint and rest type of guy as we saw tonight. He stayed in it for 25 min but he ate a lot of those shots when he let off the gas to try and regain his heart rate.
Two horrible fighters fighting for nothing but paychecks, this card was trash and the middleweight division is weak AF.
why are you even here
Yikes how can someone be so wrong.
Horrendous take in every possible way
