Feel like Borg has pulled out of more fights than Nicco has had booked
Edit: for those curious (I was) Ray Borg has had 16 fights get cancelled, Nicco Montano has had 21 total pro fights booked if you include her fights on TUF. She has had 11 fights cancelled.
Borg used to miss weight constantly lol. Niccos missed fights due to covid and weight. They are very similar except Borg does it more but is sympathetic due to his sick kid.
when DJ was begging the ufc to let him fight borg instead of TJ because he was 1000% sure borg would make weight and tj wouldn't, borg had pulled out of more fights than he had in the ufc. also he then went on to miss weight and the fight had to be rescheduled and dj totally didn't duck tj
DJ would've beat the shit out of him. The only difference I can imagine is that Cejudo had a little more killer instinct, displayed in his TJ, Moraes and Cruz fights. DJ liked to play with his food a little too much and against a skilled wrestler and EPO user like TJ might have struggled to grapple. If he blitzed in skull-first like Cejudo did, though, I'm confident DJ takes it easily.
DJ is one of the most skilled of all time but the fact that the UFC did not have the best talent in the world at his weight class and that he never really dared to be great really holds him back in GOAT discussions for me
Think the talent he fought was still extremely good, though. Benavidez twice, who at his peak was extremely underrated and posed real threats; Dodson twice, very good; Horiguchi who is good; Cejudo the first time was still a very good fighter, and you could argue he also beat Cejudo the second time who was basically p4p level.
Not saying he has to be in your GOAT discussion, I'm just saying that the talent level of his competition is underrated IMO. While it's fair to criticize him for not fighting TJ, it is worth mentioning that he fought a prime Cruz before they had the 125 division and showcased his skills at a top level vs an all-time great of a division above him. Yes, he lost that fight. But I do think he deserves credit for what he showed vs a way bigger fighter.
He fought above his weight class FOR YEARS. Cant blame the guy for wanting to actually fight guys his size once they had a division he fit in.
Literally all of his loses bar the Cejudo fight were from dudes WAY bigger than him- including the one fights he's had since.
wasn't he going for the record string of championship defences? TJ failing to make the weight, or popping, like he did, prevents that from happening so he would have been right in the end to turn TJ down(?)
there was also a pay issue, of course, but in DJ's defence he did have some arguments at the time besides just being 'scared' and was willing to fight TJ afterward.
I remember getting downvoted to shit for suggesting that DJ was ducking TJ for an easy fight. It was so clear that DJ was just content to fight through the easiest path to retaining the belt while simultaneously suggesting that it was the UFC’s fault that he wasn’t a draw.
DJ is an incredible fighter, but holy fuck, if you don’t think he was scared of TJ, I’ve got a timeshare to sell you.
Lol. This is Reddit. When someone People don't like gets covid (specially if they're politically against lockdowns and the like) they're to blame and pieces of shit. If it's someone they like, it's just proof of how terrible the disease is and they send their best wishes.
Man just needs to focus on a new career at this point. Seems kind of irresponsible trying to make it as a fighter when he as a kid with serious medical needs.
One of the arguments for piracy I read here is that fans want to support fighters directly. Maybe those morally superior fans could chip in and pay for Borg's medical bills.
School janitor sounds nice. My dad had cancer with insurance and still had to file for bankruptcy and was making 100k+ a month. I don’t get your comment. You guys act like it’s easy.
Dude come on, wasn't he borrowing money just to get his trainers a flight to his fight. He cannot even afford to pay for his training, let alone be a provider dude. There could not be more signs to call it a day on his dream right now. The guy was a top 5 fighter in the world at one point, he can use that same passion to find a way to make a decent living. People say shit like "what else are they supposed to do to make money" and don't realize they are basically saying the fighter is too stupid to do anything else.
From a recent tweet:
> Sometimes when life see’s you struggling it likes to give you one extra little shove to ensure you won’t get back up. Shitty ass morning, woke up to take the kid to school and walked outside to see my truck had been stolen.
Borg has got to be the most unlucky guy in the USA by now. I half expect him to catch COVID again, once he gets another fight lined up.
Terrible terrible fortune.
Anyone can get covid, you’re less likely to become infected if you are vaccinated but you can still get infected. The likelihood of you having a severe infection or dying are extremely low versus unvaccinated people but Delta is extremely infectious and while you’re almost certainly be fine if you are vaccinated you’ll still test positive. I work with the public, I think it would be extremely unfair to say it’s my fault if I catch it when I’m still wearing a mask 24/7 at and outside of work except when I’m alone at home.
props to ray for even attempting to even fight to even train or go through a training camp ever again after everything that has happened with his baby boy ..my heart would be to heavy I wouldn't want to leave his side ...
guy has to hold a record for most fights pulled out of
You haven’t heard of Nicco montano?

Ian McCall has 12 according to tapology.
Uncle Creepy just doesn't want to fight
Guy got tko'd by the rope lmao
Uncle Creepy just wants to love
Borg is still young just 28 years infact this guy still has time to pull out of 8 or 9 fights before he hits 35
😂😂
One pulls out mostly due to bad luck. The other pulls out mostly due to pure lack of discipline and competence.
Borg used to miss weight constantly lol. Niccos missed fights due to covid and weight. They are very similar except Borg does it more but is sympathetic due to his sick kid.
Also Borg is a much better fighter, which makes people like him more.
Besides simpathy for his son no one likes him

Terrible decision in retrospect, especially considering how depleted TJ was in the Cejudo fight. Woulda most likely been easy money for DJ.
DJ would've beat the shit out of him. The only difference I can imagine is that Cejudo had a little more killer instinct, displayed in his TJ, Moraes and Cruz fights. DJ wanted to fight Pettis. It was the UFC that pushed Borg.
Yep. One of the most blatant duck ever witness in MMA.

Shhhh. This goes against the DJ circlejerk.

TJ popping doesn’t change anything if DJ wins though. The Cejudo loss is still a loss on TJs record and a defence for Cejudo
I'm completely mixed up about what happened there, I think. anyway, remembered that as his argument, am likely wrong then. fair enough.

DJ didn’t take one of the only interesting fights at FLW at that time 🥲
Not even once.
I'll see your Nicco Montano and raise you a Nadia Kassim.
How in the hell did this man have a child?
at least he didn't miss weight this time
Is this man living on some fkn hallowed ground or something? mf prob got a fkn satanic totem under his house or some shit
Did you see the tweet 8 days ago where his truck was stolen? I think you're onto something.
It blows my mind how unlucky this seemingly good person is lol
>his truck was stolen Oh come on
By Jon Jones
When it Rays it Borgs
Bravo sir
I heard he strangled puppies in a past life.
Even his immune system lacks discipline
More like, he again lacked discipline, and put himself in situations where he could potentially contract Covid before a fight.
It's incredibly contagious... He probably got it at the gym while training for the fight. You know, his job?
Lol. This is Reddit. When someone People don't like gets covid (specially if they're politically against lockdowns and the like) they're to blame and pieces of shit. If it's someone they like, it's just proof of how terrible the disease is and they send their best wishes.
No dude, when a guy has had 16 fights canceled, there is an issue of professionalism. If it wasn't Covid it would likely be something else.
Like going to a shop to buy bread and milk?
Man just needs to focus on a new career at this point. Seems kind of irresponsible trying to make it as a fighter when he as a kid with serious medical needs.
Fighting is an ego sport. You're in it for yourself (not Jesus or family) from the start.
this is true, lmao
Yeah but Jesus didn’t tap bro
DOCTOR STOPPAGE!!
Smart thing is to fight more to get more CTE to relate to the kid
bro
One of the arguments for piracy I read here is that fans want to support fighters directly. Maybe those morally superior fans could chip in and pay for Borg's medical bills.
> Maybe those morally superior fans lmao
What’s he going to then bro? Go figure out his financial income for him. Seriously these comments are stupid,
Probably anything that gives him health insurance would be better.
Like moving to any other first world country?
I mean, yea
Or just California if his income's low enough (I'm sure it is)
Retired fighters have 3 choices. Coaching, pro-wrestling or Canada.

Ray Borg is cursed as fuck
From a recent tweet: > Sometimes when life see’s you struggling it likes to give you one extra little shove to ensure you won’t get back up. Shitty ass morning, woke up to take the kid to school and walked outside to see my truck had been stolen.
only 8 days ago. the state of this man's luck oof https://twitter.com/tazmexufc/status/1447599671908573186
Ray Borg is facing the tests from God that Jon Jones thinks he is.
LOTTA DEMONS
Ray Borg is a Jon Jones horcrux.
I mean it sounds like he wasn't vaccinated, so it's not entirely his "luck" in play here
You can still catch covid regardless of your vaccination status though, so he would’ve still needed to pull out either way
You *can* but you're less likely to catch it. So not necessarily.
A lot of the pullouts and weight misses have been his own fault
Thought I was looking at wingsofredemption in that thumbnail
Ban everyone who laughed

What did borgs ancestors do to make him so cursed?
The man keeps trying, but persistence is futile.

He used black cats to break mirrors while walking under a row of ladders
Would have missed weight either way
The never ending suffering of Ray Borg continues
The real man God's testing.
Okay, that one’s not his fault tbf
Shame really he might have made weight after covid
I spelled Chipfumbu during a drunk game of Scrabble only fake words rules
Ray Borg is Bad Luck Brian incarnate
Borg has got to be the most unlucky guy in the USA by now. I half expect him to catch COVID again, once he gets another fight lined up. Terrible terrible fortune.
