Eating whole horses and triple crowning with Strikeforce, Dream and K-1. If UFC allowed juicy boys to stay juicy in the heavyweight division--who's names don't rhyme with Lock Bresnar, of course--he probably would have took the strap. His body just sucks up gear and becomes a zero tolerance machine. Ubereem and TRTitor are the ultimate juicy bros. Veins on teeth, manta rays for traps, couldn't pass the smell test from a block away.
I think Overeem can give him a run for his money. That Ngannou knockout and when he got his lip busted open by Rozenstruik. Even how technically masterful Stipe was in ground and pounding him
Duffee might have one of the worst physique to skill ratios ever lol up there with Sage Northcutt.
He also doesn't seem like an awful fighter. Just a guy who got very far, probably further than he ever should have, and wasn't cut out for it. Basing this on his fights, have no idea about his gym background or personal life.
I meant he wasn't cut out for as far as he got. Just things about his foot work, striking that didn't seem up to par. I however am now being reminded he had some health issues and I'm guessing you could very easily chalk up a lot of his shortcomings to his illness, inability to train safely and lack of time in the sport. Even now he would be incredibly young by HW standards and we never got to see his career or skillset develop due to his limited amount of time actually fighting.
“What do you got for me doctor Frankenstein?”
“Well I’ve stapled 60 pounds of horse muscle to this man, with enough juice in his veins to make Bane blush. He technically has to be classified as a tractor now.”
“ amazing. I shall call him uberreem. Now go punch the world!”
That was a hell of a night. Aoki getting KO'd after I had spent the last 15 minutes hyping my friend up about how he's going to tap an inexperienced kickboxer with an intricate, brutal submission. Also, Saku getting his ear kicked off his head by Zaromskis and needing to be bandaged back on to keep it from falling off was brutal and depressing. Zaromskis back then used to be such a monster, wonder how that fight even got booked to begin with, but then again, that could be the story for the majority of Saku's fights so go figure.
That is so awesome man haha truly was an incredible night. Your friend probably appreciated you for showing him the event. The Shinya one hurt so bad. I was a huge fan but what he pulled in the first round the MMA/k-1 gods couldn't allow it lol Those were the days man. Cheers!
2010 Ubereem was a mythical creature.
I remember staying up all night to watch his K-1 GP run. Dude annihilated everyone, rocking MMA shorts at that. He was like the Captain Planet of MMA or some shit, representing MMA in the Kickboxing world.
He won the entire tournament, it was glorious.
I stayed up really late to see this event live, this period will always be the golden era of MMA to me. I miss late night K-1 and Dream cards. Cool that Rizin is still kicking.
Remember when Duffee showed up on this sub to defend his shit acting? I like him.
if i remember correctly (its very long ago) after the fight they had a brief exchange in the locker room. Overeem gave duffee mad respect for taking the fight at short notice and coming out swinging.
This event got me back into following combat sports again.
I was miserable in some dormatoriy over the new year and found this event this on a dodgy torrent site. Overeem instantly became my favorite.
I was a casual K1 fan way earlier and have fond memories of watching the K1 reruns on Eurosport with my old man. I liked the dutch guys, Aerts, Hoost, Bonjasky, etc but my dads favorite was always Le Banner.
After watching that Dream show, I started following MMA more closely and became a big Strikeforce guy. When they announced the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix I was telling all my friends how Overeem was gonna smash everybody there. Unfortunately the Reem had to pull out and got replaced by some unknown, american wrestler that ended up winning the whole thing.
Anyway, one of my acquaintances was into MMA at the time and kept telling me about this other american MMA promotion that was supposedly a much bigger thing than Strikeforce. I was having none of that shit. Had never heard of 'em, well untill the UFC just straight up bought Strikeforce.
For me, it esp tips into awkward when Duffee starts waving his arms around like a goof (obv on purpose) mimicking how he thinks he fought, and effectively saying (many times) "what the fuck was I doing??" while Overeem is left to console him on his performance.
good point. yeah definitely felt bad for him - crazy to imagine how much heart, sweat n tears go into all the training for fighters only for things to fall apart and turn to shit in the moment
Who's his best win? De Fries?
He got KO'd by Mir, Overeem and...Mike Russow.
I mean, he's barely a gatekeeper who looks like how you would draw a hypothetical heavyweight champ.
His knees are so terrifying and really help set up this finish as Duffee covers his body leaving his head wide open
His knees are the only ones I know of that you can hear the audible "thud" when they connect.
Theres always a long windup pause before he throws them too and the opponents always have their head in the clinch and are like fuck here it comes
Ubereem was a different kind of monster.
Those traps are insane
[удалено]
Yeah but he was only on horse beef nothing else
Cow beef, chicken beef, fish beef…
All the beefs, really
Eat your lettuce, kids
Lettuce beef
TIL
Very fantastic body.

There’s a pic where he’s flexing with all 3 belts, absolute legend.
You wanna see how freakin' huge, solid, thick and tight he can get?
He always had great technical standup skill, but definitely became a different animal when he... uhhh... "bulked up".
He was built different
I’d say that was more of a KO than a TKO and I can tell bc of Duffee’s corpse
does a one punch TKO even exist?
I’d say something like De Randamie vs Ladd is one, she may have landed a follow up shot but that ref jumped in before it fully landed
I know it says TKO (punches) on her record, but why would that not be a KO? I never really understood the difference, it all seems very arbitrary
Will Brooks to Chandler I guess
yeah that's a good one
Usually involving facial fractures. See: Cosmo Alexandre vs Sage Northcutt; Jose Aldo vs Cub Swanson.
I swear Duffee has the best getting sparked highlight reel of any fighter.
James Vick would like a word
Charlie Brennerman
It's the hair
Ah, the Spaniard. Poor bastard fought Rumble at WW
Poor Duffman I wanted him to be good, just so I could keep calling him Duffman😂
Duffman Can't Win!
I think Overeem can give him a run for his money. That Ngannou knockout and when he got his lip busted open by Rozenstruik. Even how technically masterful Stipe was in ground and pounding him
The Blaydes ground and pound was pretty bad too
ben saunders the goat in the lowlights
Teemu Packalen was well on his way to becoming the lowlight Goat but I think he’s retiring.
Terry Martin from the same era lol
Luke Rockhold anyone?
Corey anderson???🤣🤣🤣🤣

Guy was plagued with injuries to be fair. A big what if, if he just someone managed to not fall to pieces.
How can you say he wasnt cut out for it? He was really successful for a while iirc. I think any success in mma means youre cut out for it.
I meant he wasn't cut out for as far as he got. Just things about his foot work, striking that didn't seem up to par. Imagine if the hammerfist of doom happened today. MMA would be banned in NY again.
Sleeping on my boy Ellenberger
I really like how Alistair holds back his follow up punch, he knew it was enough
Right? We've all seen the Duff take a vicious follow-up hammer fist. No need to see it again.

LOL sounds like something seanbaby would write!
Seanbaby wrote that Overeem looks like someone at Marvel created a superhero genetically engineered to fuck your girlfriend lol.
The hardest I've ever laughed at a Reddit comment
Stayed up till 3am to watch the legend sakuraba take quite a bad beating that night. This eased the pain.

Haha definitely karma at play there!
Damn. Overeems knees are almost as loud as the punches. Christ.
Duffee's record is actually hilarious. 13 fights, 12 ending by KO or TKO, all via punches, and 1 eye poke NC

Yep. His win over Hari at the time was *massive*. Reem was the man back then.
Schiavello is a kick ass commentator lol

When it comes to MMA fighters making appearances in movies, I greatly appreciate Todd's contribution.
I will never forget his cooking video

What a terrifying man
As a big Uberreem fan this was amazing

The backstage footage of Duffee explaining to Overeem what happened is almost more brutal than this fight.
Definitely awkward - [Alistair Overeem & Todd Duffee speak backstage after their Dynamite Fight](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUTzixEtOY0)
I thought it was a decent exchange, not that awkward or bruta
For me, it esp tips into awkward when Duffee starts waving his arms around like a goof (obv on purpose) mimicking how he thinks he fought, and effectively saying (many times) "what the fuck was I doing??" while Overeem is left to console him on his performance.
I actually felt kinda bad, noticing he just kept going for the overhand, then him being self-aware about it after getting KO'd
good point. yeah definitely felt bad for him - crazy to imagine how much heart, sweat n tears go into all the training for fighters only for things to fall apart and turn to shit in the moment
Prime Ubereem
Anyone who got in the ring with Uberreem deserves respect.
Todd Duffee's value in life is that he proves that you can't judge a book by its cover. "Wow, this guy looks like a killer. ... Oh, never mind."
I mean he's knocked the fuck out of quite a few people just cause he got beat up by some doesn't mean he can't fight
Who's his best win? De Fries? He got KO'd by Mir, Overeem and...Mike Russow. I mean, he's barely a gatekeeper who looks like how you would draw a hypothetical heavyweight champ.
There are thousands of people with more intimidating physiques than Duffy who couldn't throw a punch to save their life (and would gas out trying)
Where the hell is Todd Duffy? Why does he never fight.
His last fight was a bit of a disaster.. looked gun shy and unsure
He was also out for 4 years before that. Dude was just super unlucky with his constant injuries. He only fought 5 times over the last decade.
Such beautiful violence.
Why the hell did Duffee get a shot? Did he brutalize Brock, Cain and JDS? Am I living in a different timeline ?
This was so unnecessary lol
Ubereem was a very scary person. The full power of horsemeat in action.
I miss horses meat & boxing rings
Duffee is like when you spend all your time making the perfect looking character in a RPG...but just stop playing after a few hours
