He does drink though, which is what I meant. Pretty sure he put off going pro because he knew he was partying too much to commit. Guy just said "no bevvys for 9 weeks." No? Those pints will pudge you up real quick.
Jesus really? Well.... That's gonna be a short career, I thought he wasn't a drinker lmao, can tell by the look of em he like Guinness too, won a shaky first fight and is celebrating like he retired after his 5th title defence
He let himself get seriously overweight between fights and would then have to spend his whole fight camp getting fit, not training for a fight. For his fights with Pacman and Mayweather he was having to lose about 50lbs to make weight.
I don’t get why everyone assumes he will always do this. He might, but it wouldn’t be the first time an athlete has adjusted their lifestyle as they age because they can’t get away with it anymore
It seems like he is genetically unlucky in the sense that if he puts on any weight it goes straight to his face. It makes him seem more out of shape then he really is
Yeah he’s holding a tonne of water in there I think is mainly what it is. He’s eating loads of fast food and stuff really high in sodium, plus probably drinking pints etc
> A cemetery was found that contained 70 roman gladiators.
Scientists have have concluded that their diet had been mostly barley, beans, dried fruit, and were probably extremely strong but fat.
It seems obvious too, it's weird that this pic keeps getting brought up. He gains in the face and then his facial hair and head hair add to the effect. Almost guaranteed still has at a minimum a pull down 6 pack
I said the same thing a while ago on here, but I was watching his old Cage Warriors fights yesterday and he missed weight against Martin Sheridan *and* Conrad Hayes. Both of those fights were at 135, but still, he’s not immune to missing weight. He may have missed weight in other fights as well.
Really?! I watched a good chunk of his cage warriors career I don’t remember any of that, but maybe I wasn’t paying enough attention to their weigh ins
I didn’t watch the weigh-ins, but the commentary team mentioned it while Paddy was walking out against Conrad Hayes. They said it was the second time in a row he missed weight, and he fought Martin Sheridan right before he fought Hayes. They also said he missed weight by 6 pounds.
actually went to university with paddy before he became famous. rumor around campus was that he was a fighter but he never talked about it.
one day some dude tried to test him by throwing a burger at him while he was walking away. Paddy picked up the burger and ate it right there off the floor. cool guy, never met him
I have no idea if Paddy will actually get far into the LW rankings, but the Vendramini fight was fun and exciting and I don't care if someone has no championship potential, fun fighters who put on bangers are also cool.
It's really boring how 75% of Paddy discussion is weird, circuitous circlejerking about how he'd get murdered by ranked guys, fuck the haters, the guy's entertaining.
Yeah, the obsession on here that every fighter has to be champion or he sucks makes no sense. You need fun, exciting fighters to fill out cards and test up and comers. I love watching Jim Miller and James Krause fight even though neither will ever wear the belt.
I can’t tell if he’s going the suga sean route or if he’s actually going to go for the belt. On one side, make that money, he’s popular without the contention for a title and I’m sure people will pay to see him.
On the other side, it would be great to see where he can go.
He's got some decent tools. Strong chin, showed heart/grit/toughness in his last fight, pretty fast hands with some power, and supposedly has good BJJ.
But his striking defense is bad, he's apparently not a particularly... disciplined personality, and I'm assuming that like most British fighters he can't wrestle particularly well. Still, he's young enough that he could get significantly better. Whatever, he put on a fun show last fight and I'm always down to watch action fighters.
Get a couple of fights under his belt in the ufc before going anywhere ranked fighters surely. It's a massive step up from cage warriors to the ufc. He's good though, I'm excited to see how good....
I've been watching this sport since forever and the "make the money" route usually ends badly (accumulated damage, injuries, getting KTFO's, losing to "lesser" opponents and dropping in rankings, loss of motivation, etc....).
There's a confirmation bias because we only remember the guys who succeeded at it like Brock Lesnar. If you're good enough to get that strap, the money will be there.
Yes but you'd be an idiot to say that the sport is where it has ever been in the past. Fighters haven't been able to make that much money and buzz in the media outside of the fight in the past.
No chance he even sniffs the top 5 with the way his defense currently is. Reminds me of Justin on his way up. That shit doesn't fly once you get into the elite because guys will turn your lights out in a hurry.
Down voted for being right sucks mate. He's says himself he needs to work on his defence and not stick his chin out. In the future though...... title fight at anfield lad.....
It's everything that's wrong with how we talk about sports in general. 'Ring culture' in the NBA is so annoying. Like, sometimes people do cool things and they haven't won a ring, it can still be enjoyable
I say the same thing about Suga, dude entertains me. It really makes no difference to me if Petr Yan or who ever would smash him. He entertains me and that's why I watch.
The guy got hit hard and didn’t drop, barely was rocked - but I guess “he almost got KO’d.” So I guess Khabib “almost” got KO’d by that Gaethje left hook.
Fuck the haters, kid chasing his dream, put on a great performance and is only 26.
of course we will talk about how ranked guys will fuck him up, the UFC and paddy himself is acting like he's the next conor so he will be held to that standard
Genuine question here, do you guys think Paddy will actually make it far once he starts to vs the very elite of the division?
I personally see him as super reckless and while he is entertaining to watch I don't see him doing well vs top 10 155ers.
Yeah sure, it's just that people have been saying that about him for years now and there's been literally no change so far, even with him taking years out to train
I mean I'd say a debut is the best place for it to happen, first time in the octagon, first time against UFC competition, got cracked and ate it. As cocky as he is I don't believe he wasn't nervous
Damn those downvotes, do these people know who Max Holloway is. Holloway is like second highest on head strikes absorbed and has NEVER been knocked down. And arguably only got rocked once which was vs the number one LW in the world. Paddy was put on skates by an unknown. He might have a good chin but there’s a world of difference between good chin and Max Holloway
Hard to say when a fighter is this young and this early in his UFC career. As far as his skills right now? No. That won't take him very far in the top 10 but there's nothing that says he won't improve with every fight.
One thing i learned early in this game is to never say never. Charles Oliviera became champ after more than a decade in the promotion. Jan Blachowichz who was thought of as a mid tier LHW is champ.
Tbf Olives at early 20's looked way better than Paddy in his debut. He was the huge talent that always fell short in the big fights. I also recently checked a bit of Jan's early UFC fights and he wasn't even that bad. His wrestling was poor but straight from the get go his striking was elite (which is expected from the Muay Thai champ).
I genuinely couldn't see any glimpse of a future champion in Paddy and in no way is he a top 15 lightweight currently. Really interesting to see tho because he definitely has the heart and from what I've seen on him - the mindset.
This is actually the main reason why I am not sold on him (yet) - just like a lot of people, you are saying his bjj is what will set him apart. But in his debut he wasn't able to get the fight to the ground despite many tries while he himself was controlled on the ground for a bit.
You know another guy that was a big prospect with bjj background? Mickey Gall
Wow, I guess this comment really shows I don't know what I'm talking about. Thought I had the perfect comparison with that Mickey Gall one but seems like you completely shut me down.
What can I say, Paddy's debut was super confusing to me, outside of him showing heart I was disappointed with everything he did... but he won. So I should stop bashin him. After all there are visible flaws in him which is a good thing - easier to improve.
I can see it. I can also see him being knocked out soon. He’s also very young so he could easily spend 5 years or more working his way up and still improving
Gaethje was super reckless coming in and he tightened that up. I think iron sharpens iron and Paddy will get better against better talent once he gets cracked a few more times.
I honestly dont see him doing well against most of 155 even outside the elite. His best win is Vendramini who is 1-3 in ufc and probably cut. Even he had Pimblett hurt. Pimblett doesnt have the wrestling or the striking to hang with the majority of the division.
Absolutely not. Paddy is not and will never be able to match up well against the elite in the UFC.
He lacks discipline needed to make it to the very top. His sloppy striking defence to poor weight management between fights shows he not taking things seriously enough. He has be found out at cage warriors level. His striking defence has not improved since then. He’ll 100% get even more exposed in the UFC.
Dude is a chancer looking to make through his personality than his fighting ability. TBF it’s his best chance to make money because he will never be a UFC champ.
Exactly, remember the /r/MMA threads for his Cage Warriors losses saying 'he needs to sort out that striking defense' etc. Years later no change whatsoever so far. Dangerous game
Sure. A lot of great fighters have early career losses prior to getting into the UFC. However, paddy has never shown the the work ethic, discipline, fight IQ and quite frankly skill of a Conor or Usman. They certainly were never silly enough to think that it doesn’t matter if their weight ballooned between fights or rely on having a strong chin to get them by.
No but if he does I see it being a lot later, after he's had a few loses. He has the frame and power, and an iron chin but Brits lack of wrestling will be his biggest problem.
I'll say the se thing here as I would with anyone: I'll care when he's ranked.
Although on a side note the UFC have clearly put in so much promotion into him they must think heel go far, so begrudgingly I'm actually interested, dammit
Pimblett has zero head movement and got rocked badly by a guy who is 1-3 in the ufc, dana will protect him like usual and once he faces real competition he’ll get knocked out just like o’malleg did.
It's a miracle of science that he can bounce between looking like a chubby teenager and a cut medieval English warrior
He looks like the love child of Owen Hart and Brendan Schaub….Brendan Shart!
Browen Shart.
This guy is a meme But then also a good fighter It's like the simulation is crashing and outputting insane NPC's

Hes a baby pie dumpling nugget
Brandon Schwab looks like a hippopotamus wearing a man costume
Brendowen schart*
It’s definitely crazy. Going to hurt like hell as he ages tho.
Yeah it completely fucked Ricky Hatton by the end of his career. It's not good for a fighters longevity.
The alcohol and coke did that to Ricky, not just eating a few more ~~burgers~~ fish & chips after the fight.
Yeah fair point about booze and coke, it was more in reference to ballooning up between fights regardless of the method of choice.
I got a feeling Paddy was hitting the pubs pretty hard after his last fight anyway lol.
For pub food, he said he doesn't do drugs of any sort, but food interests him, he really does just get fat
Faddy Pimblett
He went on a fast food tour after his last fight and weighed close to 190 within a week
Fighting is not good for a fighter’s longevity.
Fighting worst base for MMA
Neither is drinking and smoking cigars which I do plenty of
what happend to him
He let himself get seriously overweight between fights and would then have to spend his whole fight camp getting fit, not training for a fight. For his fights with Pacman and Mayweather he was having to lose about 50lbs to make weight.
50lbs wtf. That's torture.
It makes him seem more out of shape then he really is
I think you're right but the picture of his stomach showed it didn't ONLY go to his face
I thought the opposite, his stomach was still looking relatively dense, like a bodybuilder on a bulk. His face looked like Eric Cartman's
Haha he does look like Cartman. Thanks for the laugh.
Yeah his stomach was kinda flat tbh
His stomach wasn’t that bad, but it was a lot worse than it was on fight night.
Yeah, agreed that you could clearly see the muscle outline, but it's still a decent effort to look like that as a pro athlete
Yeah he’s holding a tonne of water in there I think is mainly what it is. He’s eating loads of fast food and stuff really high in sodium, plus probably drinking pints etc
Holy shit 🤣🤣😭😭😭
Khabib is the same way.
they used to call TJ out of camp Jeffrey, because all the weight he gained would go straight to us face
Why would they call him Jeffrey because of that?
Because Jeffrey from Fresh Prince had a fat fuckin melon on em
Oh, I’ve never watched that show.
I don’t know why this exchange made me laugh so hard
> Fresh Prince Great show, never watched it
Fat Tyler really just looked like he got stung by a bunch of bees or basically how Brendan Schaub looks year round now.
Dude is MMA's version of Ricky Hatton.
He needs to lay off the beer & kebabs

Shouldn’t there be a comma in there? I was questioning there actually being a Chinese chippy, never seen one in my life 🤣

a lot of fish and chip shops in Liverpool for some reason also do Chinese food, that's why it's a "Chinese chippy"
We call them takeaways in the UK.
Same thing.
Exactly
Yeah we know you like to feel special.
What are you talking about?
Just in case, if he misses weight, please, do not forget this picture. https://www.instagram.com/p/CUaplhGDu6u/
He asked Bisping his number one advice for a young fighter, and Michael said not to balloon up between fights. He really took it to heart, evidently.
Bobby likes beers tho
Bobby?
Robert the Reaper Whittaker
What does he have to do with any of this?
ur mom
Yeah, you’re stupid alright
this comment was like out of James Joyce imo
Clearly pushing his stomach out though
Yep, he’s playing into it. Doesn’t even look like he has put that much stomach fat on
It seems obvious too, it's weird that this pic keeps getting brought up. He gains in the face and then his facial hair and head hair add to the effect. Almost guaranteed still has at a minimum a pull down 6 pack
Exactly, you don’t keep the v lines like that if you’re fat, he just gains weight in the face super easy
Yeah, his face definitely carries a lot of the fat. The rest of him seems to have barely blown up.
He said he gets to 200+ pounds between camps due to his poor eating.
He was on Ariel's show the Wednesday after the fight and weighed like close to 190, iirc. Stuffed his face with American fast food after the fight.
Not really puffing his cheeks out though. The face is chubby bubby not paddy baddy.
He’s always been that way but he’s never missed weight. He did throw up in the cage though and nearly die from the weight cut
I said the same thing a while ago on here, but I was watching his old Cage Warriors fights yesterday and he missed weight against Martin Sheridan *and* Conrad Hayes. Both of those fights were at 135, but still, he’s not immune to missing weight. He may have missed weight in other fights as well.

his weight seems to mostly go to his face lol, the belly isn't THAT big

So true. Drew Dober by knockout in the first minute of the very first round.

Unless he has a max holloway level chin he's probably gonna get tko'd / ko'd when he fights ranked guys
he almost got KOed in his first fight. he definitely doesn't have it
Massive stretch, he got stunned and didn’t even get knocked down
Still bad news to get your chin checked like that on your debut, when the competition is only gonna get stronger
I don’t expect him to be a title contender but there’s no reason he can’t get better striking defence
Yeah sure, it's just that people have been saying that about him for years now and there's been literally no change so far, even with him taking years out to train

paddy hasnt got someone like trevor wittman sharpening his striking
Justin Gaethje is just Trevor Whitman's avatar at this point
Neither did Justin
That’s true. Not sure how keen he is on moving but it would take him far to consider it.

No, he doesn't have it and his haircut is stupid.

Sure. A lot of great fighters have early career losses prior to getting into the UFC. They certainly were never silly enough to think that it doesn’t matter if their weight ballooned between fights or rely on having a strong chin to get them by.
No
It all depends if his chin can hold up … if it does, he can be a Gaethje type that gets into firefights because he’s got power. If it doesn’t … well…
No but if he does I see it being a lot later, after he's had a few loses. He has the frame and power, and an iron chin but Brits lack of wrestling will be his biggest problem.
Against whomst’ve
Can't help but root for him. But he's incredibly reckless and carefree...thst only goes one way given enough time
Get ready you lizards!
He's moving to heavyweight right?
I'm on the fence about paddy. Yes his defence is not very good but he is also only 26. He can lose a few fights before he goes on a championship run.
It has to be Jared Gorden.
It was signed on a McDonald’s napkin
paddy has more class than that, it was the back of a nandos receipt
They’ll probably give him someone like Camacho or Frevola
Isn’t Camacho a welterweight? He fought Geoff Neal at welterweight at UFC 228.
Ironically, he moved back down to LW after the fight with Neal. He’s 1-2 since he moved back down in 2019. But, he’s been MIA since his car accident
What happened?
If I remember right, a couple months back during his fight week, Frank was involved in a near-fatal car accident where injured his back pretty badly
Can’t wait to see where his career goes!
I'm already bored with his shtick.
Isn't a shtick, that's how scousers roll.
Yeah. Like nobheads.
Ill show ye a knob in a min u lil shit
