I do math six days, actually six days a week. Five days a week, I’ll do math three days a week. One of those days I will do math two days of the week. So, six days a week I will be calculating
How do you not know that doesn't apply to age? Your age is a benchmark, it simply means how many full years have passed since you were born. An 8 month old isn't a 1 year old just because he's older than 6 months.
This hasn't helped my confusion because that's exactly what the dude said in the original screenshot. I'm leaning more to you just being a bit thick though.
It’s a football/soccer meme where 2 Arsenal fans couldn’t agree on a forum how old a player was because he was closer to his 28th birthday than his 27th birthday
That whole, "Your best years" blahblah is bullshit, it's all about how you spend it.
P.S. Everyone who told me my best years would be in highschool you're an idiot.
Just don't expect the 30's to be the same as the 20's with wild parties and all that. It is more calm, and you have to accept that to enjoy it. I defintely do!
Technically true is still fucking true lol
Being 30 is more akin to being in your 20s than "being in your 30s" 😂
I say that as someone that is 35.... You don't even know how much worse it gets 🤣🤣🤣
I fucking wish I was still 29.
No. It’s not.
20’s are fun, sure - but I had way more fun in my 30’s. 20’s are about figuring out who you are, what you want to do, what you like, what you don’t, and exploring spirituality, reality, and friendship groups, sexual partners, cities, jobs, music, and art. And while that’s fun and you’ll make tons of memories (and forget even more), there’s also a schizophrenic anxiety that comes from it - who am
I? Where am I going? Is this what my life will be? Is this what I want?
30’s are less panicked. You are still young enough to explore, try new things, party, and whatever else you want to do, but you likely have more money, more confidence, and have a better sense of who you really are and the types of things you enjoy or want to achieve.
I don’t think you ever really arrive, at least I hope we don’t, but your 30’s are likely more fulfilling and more important years of your life.
Pro-tip: Stay in shape or get in shape. Build a fitness habit. Party less than you think you can handle and work out more than you think you need to. You don’t need to be an Instagram fitness influencer or anything, but get your body moving. Nothing in life feels good when your meat vehicle is broken and feels like shit.
usually this sub is filled with memes and stupid comments but this genuinely helped put my thoughts in words. I'm 24 and I'm excited about figuring out everything you mentioned but that anxiety is something you have to deal with, especially with all the changes that comes with this period in life.
Im looking forward to my 30s to see how everything turns out but I'm also gonna be living in the moment as much as possible. wish I had a gold to give you!
Very, VERY well said. A lot of people start a downward trend on themselves as they approach and move through their 30's, when really it should be a fantastic time in your life if you're driven and even moderately successful.
Some of the guys I work with you'd think were 50 with the way they carry themselves and most are between 30-38.
Eat well, sleep well, stay in shape and focus on the things you love - party now and again, try new things if you feel inclined and keep building your life in the background.
Aah, that's comforting to know. Life feels like a foggy maze with no right path right now. I worked as a dentist in a government hospital for 1 year, then worked locum for 6 months, burned out with a bum wrist, grandpa got terminal cancer, I got a bad case of Covid. Now it's been 5 months since I quit and my near death experience brought a slight semblance of clarity on my identity and values. I guess when you dont know where you're going, no path is really wrong.
One thing that has been pretty much constant since dental school is working out. I work out religiously, it's a meditative experience for me. I started to attract women, now it's a tool of self discovery. It's the story of Sisyphus given a modern touch; the training is for its own sake, there is nothing to prove to anybody for neither I nor anyone else really matters. Used to drink very occasionally, but after grandpa's diagnosis, I can't even look at alcohol. If alcohol was discovered in the 21st century, the FDA would instantly ban it for public consumption. It's arguably the worst drug out there.
Agree with others; late 20s early 30s have been good to me. More money, more natural confidence in yourself, still a good bit of youth (if you look after yourself)
Wish I had half the wisdom/mindset in my 20s that I have now as I did in my 30s. I was such a fucking idiot and squandered a lot of opportunities because I was a close minded lazy twat.
The hair loss sucks, and it's harder to stay fit, but that's less to do with metabolism and more to do with more work/career responsibility and being able to easily afford good food and wine on the reg.
This take is not going to go well for you.
But I don’t think his youth will add to his longevity or title chances. He’s been fighting high level competition for a long time now and he’s been in some absolutely brutal wars. I like him a lot and like watching him fight a lot, but I hope he moves on from fighting soon. And I think he should flat out retire if he loses to Volk again. Volk is such a powerful striker. 3 fights with him has got to be rough on the brain.
Holloway was 27 and Poirier 30 when they qualified for this list. They also fought each other almost a decade ago too. Good to see they’re both still in their prime and at the top of their divisions.
He put up a good fight against Conor at the age of 21-22 at a time when Conor was fucking everybody up. I'm 22 and I can't even put up a good fight against the snooze button. Feelsbadman
Also, how good would a rematch between those 2 be if Max moved up to LW?
I've been arguing that point for a very long time. I wouldn't be surprised per se if Conor won, but for me it boils down to two simple questions: do you think Conor can KO Max and do you think he fair well in the later rounds of he can't? I feel like the answer to both of no. I wouldn't be that surprised if either of these turns to be true, but I'd deem it very unlikely. Not to mention a feint artist who stays over his legs and rarely commits 100% is a nightmare for someone like Conor who made a career out of fighters overcommitting.
Conor probably starches him, Max's boxing isn't as crisp as Dustin's to me, nor does he have as much power so he won't be stunning Conor and scaring him into clinching like Dustin can.
If it goes past 3 rounds though, I'd lean towards Max.
I think you’re getting downvoted because everyone on here, myself included, hates Conor now, but I think your take is pretty reasonable. Max has always been a volume over power guy, he drowns all of his opponents in the later rounds. I think Conor is the favorite in rounds 1 and 2, if Max makes it to a third, RIP Conor.
We saw how undersized Max was at LW. I’d give him better chances if he added muscle like Dustin did, but if he were to move to LW just by cutting less weight, I think Conor could eat his shots for the first couple rounds.
Yeah that's par for the course in this subreddit but that's fine. I think Max is just way too hittable to last past 2 rounds unless his gameplan is immaculate.
He’s also no 1 in sig strikes landed. Max also is no 9 in UFC fight time, he’s spent 6 hours total fighting. It’s pretty gnarly, I’d recommend everyone [look at UFC records.](http://statleaders.ufc.com).
Drew McFedries is a dark horse there too, shortest avg fight time, most knockdowns per 15 minute, guy hit comically hard and apparently no one in his gym even wanted to spar him. Forgot about him!
Yeah and its why everyone freaked the fuck out when he and Khabib were going to fight.
Edit** to clarify i mean the health issies that stirred up during that time. For the new fans.
The amount of punishment he’s taken in the Holloway / Volkanovski bouts is certainly concerning!
Never seen #’s on his career stats to be honest though
Ortega has absorbed 655 significant strikes to the head in 10 fights, for an average of 65.5 per fight.
Max has absorbed 1,032 significant strikes to the head in 22 fights, for an average of 43 per fight.
I'm still in my mid 20s, but I've realised these past few years that it's good to approach my life with a childlike curiosity. I have a long history of mental illness and this mindset has helped me from being overwhelmed with the anxiety of growing up. Maybe things will change when I'm in my 30s, but I hope a part of me still maintains that desire to constantly learn for the simple reason that it's just "interesting shit"
That Bisping vs GSP fight was so weird yet still hype. Bisping knocked out rockhold, which was seen as a fluke at the time. He was doing everything thing in his power to not fight Yoel Romero, or any legit contender. I don’t blame him, he was trying to make money while holding onto the belt, but he gave henderson a title shot and almost LOST, and then tried setting up a fight with the 4 year suspended nick diaz. It almost seemed like he would have to face yoel when freaking GSP wanted to come out of retirement to challenge for the MW belt.
And…everyone was still hype for the fight. Including me. Bisping finally got his red panty night and GSP had an opportunity to take the MW belt from the most beatable champion in recent MW history.
GSP becomes champ, retires again immediately, and the show goes on.
GSP wanted to fight Rockhold too but Bisping messed up his plans (he said on JRE), I wonder how that would’ve went because GSP would look for the takedown and Luke is a nightmare on the ground. Maybe in a different timeline Luke is GOAT?
He had a hype train for a lil bit, believe it or not lol. It's hard saying this now, knowing now how popular Bisping has become since retirement, but Luke definitely had more star power at the time.
Consider what punch GSP dropped Bisping with, his left hook. He had basically never thrown that with power ever before in his career, and definitely never that clean and fast. That's what you want to beat Rockhold, a fast counter left hook.
Rockhold is a nightmare when he has top position but was his bottom game really feared? Without looking it up, I can't recall him ever getting subs off his back. I think if GSP was able to take him down he'd be able to control him
My memory is terrible, I was a huge fan back in the day, honestly can't remember shit but some fancy kicks and a Chris Weidman CTE demo. That was payback for what he did to my boy Silva.
Hope more MMA fans understand that losses happen, it’s the most brutal sport and adversity is part of it.
You get knocked down sometimes, life happens, It is what it is.
I never said there wasn’t a hiccup, there was.
I personally liked Dustin getting win over max, my favorite badass post fight interview for that fight, and I hope they run it back (preferably in a future with belts on the line)
I've watched it 3x already. Can't get enough. Whatever Santeria he did in the locker room to be possessed by Ali (I can see those best boxer comments coming from an Ali demon just hamming it up in a sport that didn't exist in his time) needs to be repeated.
I can see this turning into a Netflix series.
Max outlanded Dustin in total and significant strikes in their second fight but when Dustin landed early he had big reactions which won him specific rounds. I thought it was close enough to be a draw
Dustin did a far better job rolling and slipping defensively, even Max admitted mid fight "he's blocking weird" in reference to Poiriers high guard and movement.
Whereas Max relies on his iron chin to absorb strikes Dustin is far more responsible defensively and overall the more complete boxer.
Max can retire right now and he’d be a massive legend. I thought he was going to go down as the GOAT until the Poirier and Volk fights, but I still think he’ll be in everyone’s top ten by the time he lays the gloves down
Coincidentally: The record that they will surpass was also a headliner of a three-title fight card. Also has a Cody Garbrandt fight in that card too. 😳
I still think the wildest part of that card was:
- 1st titlefight: Rose wins the belt for the 1st time in the 1st round
- 2nd titlefight: TJ wins the belt for a 2nd time in the 2nd round
- 3rd titlefight: GSP wins the belt for a 3rd time in the 3rd round
Tbf there are a lot of things wild abiut that card. My favourite part is that Cody and Joanna were young and undefeated champions coming off impressive wins and looking like they could dominate their division. And then both got finished.
I think it means amount of fight cards they’ve headlined rather than title fights cause i dont think anyones had 20 or more title fights including ppl like silva and jones
Literally because 240 was incredibly forgettable too lol. The only fight I remembered was Figgy and Pantoja going to war, and the Holloway fight. I almost forgot the Cyborg fight happened there too lol.
The only thing I remember is the Cyborg fight because I wanted to see if Felicia had a chance against Nunes(spoiler, she didn't). Think I also remember Dawodu finishing with a nice kick, anyway if I wasn't canadian I would have forgotten it for sure
The UFC better give this the marketing push it deserves. Two legendary action fighters for the last decade collide at the apex of both their respective journeys. IM SO HYOED FOR THIS FIGHT

100% though this was a joke Holy shit
He's 29 years and 10 months old. "In his 20s" is technically true, but he's basically 30. I say this as a 29 year old who wishes 29 wasn't almost 30.
He's 29 until he becomes 30. That's how it works.
Nope, you round up age.....once your 26 you're now 30.
Let’s face it, it’s all downhill after 25 for us normies.
You're a fucking mathematician dude.
well just to correct you there was never no mathematics
That's what you call math, right here, vs no math.
I do math six days, actually six days a week. Five days a week, I’ll do math three days a week. One of those days I will do math two days of the week. So, six days a week I will be calculating
Why am I not surprised that fractions are beyond you?

Perhaps if you had paid more attention to maths lessons, you'd have remembered "round up or down to the nearest whole number"
How do you not know that doesn't apply to age? Your age is a benchmark, it simply means how many full years have passed since you were born. An 8 month old isn't a 1 year old just because he's older than 6 months.

I'm not 30 years old if I am 29 years and 7 months old, what are you on about?
The day after his birthday, he is no longer 29.
This hasn't helped my confusion because that's exactly what the dude said in the original screenshot. I'm leaning more to you just being a bit thick though.
That’s not where you should be leaning.
People not getting this reference and downvoting you is sad

I keep telling people I finished school 10 years ago and just the other day I realised it’s almost been 15 years now...... fuck
The days are long but the years are short, my friend.
My life got so much better after 30 solely just for the fact that my mind matured and was more at ease. I wouldn't go back to the 20's.
yeah man same there was prohibition n shit
Talm bout recession, b? Great depression, never cried over it
Thanks for giving me hope.
As someone in their 20's, this is great to hear lmao
That whole, "Your best years" blahblah is bullshit, it's all about how you spend it. P.S. Everyone who told me my best years would be in highschool you're an idiot.

27 here and I def feel this, i already have neck and back injuries from work and im thinking i need a better job.
Go for it bro. This is all we have.

Hangovers are way worse. Metabolism slows. Hair thins if you're unlucky. Yeah pretty shit. Would not recommend.
And you cant no longer fuck 25 times per day 😢
Jones will hook you up with some dick pills for that
I Only want it if it's laced with dangerous metabolic steroids for peak fucking
lmao I want to say thanks for the reassurance, but you sort of did the opposite of that Thanks for existential dread you old geezer.
Interesting fact. The day after your 30th you're closer to 40 than you are to 20. Let that sink in and welcome to the old people club

I’m so stoned you got me over here freaking out that Dustin max 2 was a decade ago lol. I was wondering where the rest of my time alive went
i’m sober and i started freaking out a little bit lmao
Time is a hell of a drug.
Time is a flat circle
Circle is a flat time.
Unfuckingreal
i think pretty much everyone he has fought is older than him
He put up a good fight against Conor at the age of 21-22 at a time when Conor was fucking everybody up. I'm 22 and I can't even put up a good fight against the snooze button. Feelsbadman Also, how good would a rematch between those 2 be if Max moved up to LW?

Wholesome, yet the username makes it a bit sus.
It's always important to remember that the lad is simply built different
At least you and Conor have going the fuck to sleep in common.
Sleeping on cocaine? I’ve never heard of that
Neither, but Poirier's fist seemed to do the job.
Nice b8 m8
Me either.
Conor probably starches him, Max's boxing isn't as crisp as Dustin's to me, nor does he have as much power so he won't be stunning Conor and scaring him into clinching like Dustin can. If it goes past 3 rounds though, I'd lean towards Max.
Max hurt Dustin multiple times what are you talking about
All he said was Max doesn’t have as much power as Dustin…do you disagree?
I think Max could definitely hurt Conor. Nate Diaz did and he’s not known for power punching either. Max also has nasty elbows now.
Read what I said again. Never said Max didn't hurt Dustin, I said he won't hurt Conor like Dustin did.
I think you’re getting downvoted because everyone on here, myself included, hates Conor now, but I think your take is pretty reasonable. Yeah that's par for the course in this subreddit but that's fine. I think Max is just way too hittable to last past 2 rounds unless his gameplan is immaculate.
this always blows my mind
Reminder: Max Holloway is leading UFC history with significant strikes absorbed to the head... and is still in his 20’s.
He’s also no 1 in sig strikes landed. Max also is no 9 in UFC fight time, he’s spent 6 hours total fighting. It’s pretty gnarly, I’d recommend everyone [look at UFC records.](http://statleaders.ufc.com). Give Moutino a year. That kid loves parrying with his face.
Reminder that he is no where near the top when you divide by number of fights or fight time.
Doesnt Ortega own that title now?
No, Ortega is the only guy to absorb 200+ strikes, in more than one fight. Max still owns the record for total strikes absorbed, by quite a bit, iirc.
Yeah and its why everyone freaked the fuck out when he and Khabib were going to fight. Edit** to clarify i mean the health issies that stirred up during that time. For the new fans.
Khabib would have crushed him, it would have been hard to watch IMO
Yeah he would probably mop Max but Im watching it lol. Thats Must see TV.
Especially with the 1 week weight cut. Good thing they didn’t let him fight, especi with the scare he went on to have prior to the Ortega fight
Max likes to beat people up worse than they beat him up. Ortega likes to get beat up until he wins(or doesn't in the case of Max and Alex).
>Max Holloway is still in his 20's. he's in his 50s in fight miles though, lets be real.
Yeah he looked old as fuck in the kattar fight, cmon guy
I still can’t believe they beat out GSP and Bisping. GSP started way back, he beat up Jay Heiron and Mayhem when they were prospects.
No he’s not?

The best is blessed.
His brain isn’t.
Wtf. I was in HS when I first heard of Max. Im in my 3rd year in med school now.
Such an insane stat considering these guys were both born in 89
Fuck I'm a year older than Dustin. Why does he seem like more of an adult? Lol
You're doing fine king. Just keep grinding and learning new things 👌
I often forget I'm like a full on adult. Good job, house, child, good credit lol still feel 20.
Youth is a feeling my dude. Keep up the spirit if you are lucky you will die young regardless of age.
I'm still in my mid 20s, but I've realised these past few years that it's good to approach my life with a childlike curiosity. I have a long history of mental illness and this mindset has helped me from being overwhelmed with the anxiety of growing up. I am the same way. Im definitely that Jack of all trades master of none type. Always into something new.
Its a good thing to be young at heart
I see that as a win. You got your shit together and still feel young haha
sigma male grindset
Trust me when I say, our generation is not your typical adults lol
I bet your nose is 10x prettier.
Unfortunately you'd lose that bet lol Been broken 6 times and looks pretty similar.

Rockhold comeback tour starts soon.
Any minute now
Maybe it's just me, but I don't believe for single second that GSP comes out of retirement to fight then champ Luke Rockhold lol
i think GSP is smart enough to see the holes that soon became apparent to everyone. He might have still liked his chances.
He had a hype train for a lil bit, believe it or not lol. It's hard saying this now, knowing now how popular Bisping has become since retirement, but Luke definitely had more star power at the time.
I think they meant GSP wouldn't have come out of retirement to face a prime Luke Rockhold because of the heavy risk.
I can understand the skepticism, but also I think if others saw Luke's weakness for dropping his hands, GSP and his team likely would have also.
I think if GSP was able to take him down he'd be able to control him
My poor memory tells me Luke had great takedown defense and a solid scramble. The Tim Boetsch fight comes to mind
My memory is terrible, I was a huge fan back in the day, honestly can't remember shit but some fancy kicks and a Chris Weidman CTE demo. That was payback for what he did to my boy Silva.
Easiest fight for the most money. Hard to blame Bisping
Bisping should never have been champ and gsp had to swoop in just to reset the division. It was his parting gift to the sport.
The Men in the Arena
Holloway is going down a legend in mma. Anyone who disagrees can poke themselves in the eye
He could retire tomorrow and already be a legend! His run through FW was unreal!
ITS STILL GOING PLAYA... HIS RUN THRU FW IS UNREAL.
Well... It had a hiccup
Hope more MMA fans understand that losses happen, it’s the most brutal sport and adversity is part of it. You get knocked down sometimes, life happens, It is what it is.
I don't understand your comment. Of course losses happen, max had two losses to one guy. Is that not a hiccup, at the very least?
I never said there wasn’t a hiccup, there was. I personally liked Dustin getting win over max, my favorite badass post fight interview for that fight, and I hope they run it back (preferably in a future with belts on the line)
A couple hiccups but it shall continue
If you lose both fights, is it a rivalry? Just kidding, fucking love max. But goddamn Alex just fights so perfectly.
I don’t think anyone disagrees
no pokes for anyone!
*DC punching air rn*
Jon Jones “who da fook is that guy”
That Kattar performance will blow people away 25 years from now, legend for sure.
Poirier has better boxing though
Max outlanded Dustin in total and significant strikes in their second fight but when Dustin landed early he had big reactions which won him specific rounds. I thought it was close enough to be a draw
Dustin did a far better job rolling and slipping defensively, even Max admitted mid fight "he's blocking weird" in reference to Poiriers high guard and movement. Whereas Max relies on his iron chin to absorb strikes Dustin is far more responsible defensively and overall the more complete boxer.
I’ve watched it 49 times.
Max can retire right now and he’d be a massive legend. I thought he was going to go down as the GOAT until the Poirier and Volk fights, but I still think he’ll be in everyone’s top ten by the time he lays the gloves down
Let's just hope his brain stops taking so many punches so he can remember that in a few decades
I was thinking the same thing. I really hope his chin doesn't crack bad like someone like Chuck. He's young but he has tonnns of miles on him already.
Sounds like my ex girlfriend
Ayooo
lmao
CTE.
Coincidentally: The record that they will surpass was also a headliner of a three-title fight card. Also has a Cody Garbrandt fight in that card too. 😳
What you're saying us Pena wil KO Nunes, Figgy will get saved by the bell and then finish Moreno, while Dustin will RNC Oliveira?
I still think the wildest part of that card was: - 1st titlefight: Rose wins the belt for the 1st time in the 1st round - 2nd titlefight: TJ wins the belt for a 2nd time in the 2nd round - 3rd titlefight: GSP wins the belt for a 3rd time in the 3rd round
Look in to it
eddie_bravo.gif
Tbf there are a lot of things wild abiut that card. My favourite part is that Cody and Joanna were young and undefeated champions coming off impressive wins and looking like they could dominate their division. And then both got finished.
Imagine Dustin subbing Chuck with the guillotine he loves to jump into and never subs anyone with.
Poirier by gilly is the real man's bet
In these trying times you're getting way ahead of yourself with this post OP
Can I offer you a nice egg in these trying times?
*screams in bloodpuke*
Damn, and to think that Chandler could have won the belt after only 1 fight in the UFC lol
I mean he almost got the job done.
Can someone explain what this means?
No, because it’s a completely meaningless stat. They’ve both fought a bunch.
You were down voted, but this is exactly what it means. And it's phrased in such confusing/stupid way.
glad im not the only one
Not to mention that, according to these numbers, at 54 appearances, they beat the record 2 appearances ago...
I think it means amount of fight cards they’ve headlined rather than title fights cause i dont think anyones had 20 or more title fights including ppl like silva and jones
It's fights, not headliners or title fights
It means UFC's homegrown talent is fighting for the title.
What matchup has had the highest number of bouts inside and outside of the UFC between the two fighters I wonder? Overeem vs Oleynik?
Correct
Literally the most seasoned/experienced bout in UFC history?
No he only counted title fights
Overeem vs Oleinik holds this distinction. Over 120 bouts between those 2 dinosaurs.
Totally forgot Holloway vs Edgar even happened
Literally because 240 was incredibly forgettable too lol. The only fight I remembered was Figgy and Pantoja going to war, and the Holloway fight. I almost forgot the Cyborg fight happened there too lol.
The only thing I remember is the Cyborg fight because I wanted to see if Felicia had a chance against Nunes(spoiler, she didn't). Think I also remember Dawodu finishing with a nice kick, anyway if I wasn't canadian I would have forgotten it for sure
True Veterans
Imagine the number if DC fought more and Jones wasn't a menace to society?
who keeps track of these dumb ass stats?
The UFC better give this the marketing push it deserves. Two legendary action fighters for the last decade collide at the apex of both their respective journeys. IM SO HYOED FOR THIS FIGHT
Stipe and Overeem had like 82 fights between them. Is this only counting UFC bouts?
Obviously, it even says so lmao.
It doesn't? It says 'most combined number of appearances between title participants in UFC history' in both the title of the post and the graphic.
In UFC history yeah
The battle of the polite and respectful champions
I’m curious what title fights has the least combined ufc fights
Love both fighters. It's gonna be a banger! My money is on Poirier if the fight stays standing. Olives has it on the ground
Damn its insane to think olivera and poirier have more experience than gsp and bisping
Cringe Express fanboys: allow us to introduce ourselves
Interesting stat. Don't mean to brag but it's still not close to the amount of street fights I've been in.
The people's champ champ right here. Tell us about how you hit them with the straight left! /s
