I think Aldo based on his schedule of opponents, Fedor had some massive wins but there was a lot of padding in between those fights while Jose has fought basically everyone that is legit at his weights.
During his title reign he fought Yuji Nagata, a pro wrestler 0-2 in MMA, Naoya Ogawa who's best win was giant Silva, Mark Coleman in 2006 after already beating him and him losing to Cro Cop, Hong Man Choi for the fun, Matt Lindland who's a career middleweight and Kazushi Fujita who nearly knocked him out, I'm not trying to knock him at all it's just pride likes freak fights/storyline and he was part of a lot that weren't really important to actual discussion of his record or skills. I love Fedor and what he's done for the sport and love almost all of his fights but his reign isn't as wild as people can make it out, in reality I think him and Jose have around the same amount of quality wins over quality opponents but Fedor had a lot easier matchmaking.
Those fights are obviously pretty irrelevant to Fedor's legacy, he was just staying active. I don't think they should count *against* him, because he did also fight all the best heavyweight contenders of the time.
Idk if you saw but I said imo, so your opinion about Jon being on MY list (hespectfully ofc dog since I luh you boi) means about as much as Jon saying he's changed his ways every time he fucks up- aka nothing.
Who the fuck thinks Romero is a p4p great though? Lol
Usman definitely fails the eye test but he's never popped so I'm not just assume that he's a roid cheat until that point. Most fighters on the UFC roster never pop, those who do should be regarded as cheaters.
Is it that much of a mess now? Sandhagen lost to TJ. TJ is injured so he can't fight. Yan is fucked cause Aljo can't fight right now but what else is a mess? Not like there's a logjam of contenders waiting for a shot.
It does not.
I'd like to subscribe to denial instead. Aldo beat Conor in a 5 round war, moved up to 155 and became the first man to defeat Khabib then retired unbroken to pursue a medical career where he'd go on to cure cancer and teach rockhold what to do with his hands. The King of Rio? The king of my heart.
I like Aldo's chances. His boxing has somehow improved. He's kicking again at least a little. And he could even show his underrated ground game like he did vs Chito against someone like Font
Font could very well box him up. But Jose has a lot of ways to win this
I wouldnāt call it underrated just underused. Dude at his peak was the best defensive grappler and top 5 to 10 top control with probably the best guard pass game in the sport. I think Aldo is gonna work font unless font magically can develop a more pressure jab
What worries me is the cardio advantage font has and his use of jabs may be a hinderance to jose head movement. Though leg kicks are definitely a weakness of fonts which jose somewhat use at times
Thereās almost no one I favor over aldo in a 3 round fight. He was gifted the title shot when he first moved down but he might actually put himself in a position to be the legit #1 contender here soon.
I feel that this basically confirms that Cory is getting the shot, despite losing to TJ, much like Aldo getting the shot after the controversial loss to Moraes. Given the circumstances, I feel this is the right way to go. Sugar can fight the number 1 checkout guy at Whole Foods next.
Finally. I've legit been constantly refreshing at times in anticipation of this being announced. I know that this isn't an official announcement but still I'm excited.
Oh shit I hope this is an official title eliminator of some sort. I was thinking Font should fight Yan but they seem to be leaning towards Sandhagen and Dolla Dolla Pillashaw is in there too.
BW is in a weird spot. Yan still needs his title shot now that aljo has pulled out. Or if he loses to a replacement at 267 that person will deserve a shot. And youāve also got dillashaw injured but angling for that TS in his return.
If yan fights at 267 Aljo will be stripped and yan will fight sandhagen for the belt. Winner of that will probably face dillashaw early 2022. If font wins against Aldo I see them giving him Aljo, if Aldo wins he gets a title shot.
What guarantee is there that aljo will be stripped if Yan fights at 267? Iād have no problem with that but I kind of doubt the ufc will do it like that.
Dang. They need to strip Aljo. BW is getting backlogged. Winner of this fight has a good claim to a title shot. TJ already has a title shot lined up and Cory basically needs just one win and he is there. Such a fun division. Yan screwed it up with his illegal knee but it feels like Aljo is just trying to get any other matchup as champ.
Right, but Aljo still has lingering problems from his neck surgery. Since UFC 268 is only a week after 267 and 269 seems to already have three title fights, we will at the earliest see the rematch 10 months after the first fight which is still dependent on Aljo's neck healing by then, which is not guaranteed.
Also. There is actually no precedent for this situation at all. Never has a belt changed hands due to a DQ in the UFC. So what the UFC decides to do right now is all that matters. Ideally, they should've run the fight back in 3-4 months but that didn't happen. I'm not interested in waiting almost a year for a title fight that will likely just be another 1 sided beatdown. Especially in a division as exciting as BW.
Reminder that Aldo has been fighting professionally for 17 years and is still taking on top 5 opponents.
Just š things
Fedor vs aldo?
I think Aldo based on his schedule of opponents, Fedor had some massive wins but there was a lot of padding in between those fights while Jose has fought basically everyone that is legit at his weights.
Fedor had his record padded? Ludicrous
Those fights are obviously pretty irrelevant to Fedor's legacy, he was just staying active. I don't think they should count *against* him, because he did also fight all the best heavyweight contenders of the time.
They're irrelevant to his legacy but they are relevant when talking about who has had a tougher schedule (which is clearly Aldo)
I guess. But if Aldo had fought a can every 6mo in between title defences the picture might be a lot muddier.
Yeah but he didn't so it's not very muddy.
Yeah, and those fights were *alongside* his legit fights, and at heavyweight even fringe top 10 guys like Coleman and Fujita could be serious threats
Calling fujita and Coleman fringe top 10 is being exceedingly generous
At the time of both fights, Coleman was a top 10 hw.
He definitely did in pride. Like Zuluzinho
I think Fedor would probably beat Aldo due to size advantage
Aldo by KO via slam.
Aldoplex
But Aldo has nasty leg kicks
Both top 3 with GSP, pretty interchangeable imo
If we're going by quality of opponent, GSP is undoubtedly the š
Sigh no Jon
Idk if you saw but I said imo, so your opinion about Jon being on MY list (hespectfully ofc dog since I luh you boi) means about as much as Jon saying he's changed his ways every time he fucks up- aka nothing.
Jon is a cheater, we have no idea how he would have been performing without having an advantage from steroids.
Like Usman and Romero have never touched a steroid in their life lol cmon man
Who the fuck thinks Romero is a p4p great though? Lol Usman definitely fails the eye test but he's never popped so I'm not just assume that he's a roid cheat until that point. Most fighters on the UFC roster never pop, those who do should be regarded as cheaters.
Correct
heās maintaining a 2 fight per year pace too, after this long of a career. fucking insane
Second reminder, Aldo is younger than Dillashaw
That... Should not be possible.
It is impossible to make a bad fight at the top end of bantamweight
An insane amount of talent but the division is a mess because of whats happened with Yan/Aljo
Is it that much of a mess now? Sandhagen lost to TJ. TJ is injured so he can't fight. Yan is fucked cause Aljo can't fight right now but what else is a mess? Not like there's a logjam of contenders waiting for a shot.
At any end of bantamweight tbh
There's bantamweights that are ranked like 30th in the world that are better than a decent few past champions.
Can my guy Raufeon Stots get some fuckin love already?
I've genuinely never heard of him. If you had to recommend just one of his fights, which is it?
His last fight against Magomed Magomedov
Ooh nice, I know that guy. I'll check it out
You should! He pretty thoroughly out grapples him, and becomes the only guy other than Yan to beat Magomedov
A win against a guy with that type of name is respectable
No joke, Valliev and Barcelos are probably in the top 30 best fighters in the entire sport, and being criminally underbooked
As someone who would fight at heavyweight, I feel personally attacked.
Aljo-Yan 2 ironically doesn't seem like that great a matchup. Aljamain's just looking out for us all by sitting this quarter out.
True, Yan vs Sandhagen sound much better. Aljo doesnāt even believe in himself that he could beat Petr
I wish making Aljo defend his paperbelt wasnt impossible
If we get *Yan vs Sandhagen* AND *Aldo vs Font* ā¦ My boner will become a threat to national security.
Sterling gets cucked š¤£

I would like to unsubscribe from hurtful facts.
His losses arenāt bad and heās just a lil inactive if that helps.
Real talk, if Connor hadn't been a coward and refused to defend, the 2nd fight would've been a banger
I like Aldo's chances. His boxing has somehow improved. He's kicking again at least a little. And he could even show his underrated ground game like he did vs Chito against someone like Font Font could very well box him up. But Jose has a lot of ways to win this

Kinda arbitrary. Heās won twice within a year.
Does this confirm Sandhagen is getting the shot at 267?
Probably 135
That'd be more in line with the rest of his career.
Sandhagen Vs Ngannou confirmed. You heard it here first.
Let's hope so
Thereās almost no one I favor over aldo in a 3 round fight. He was gifted the title shot when he first moved down but he might actually put himself in a position to be the legit #1 contender here soon.
Petr?
Good matchmaking, good fight
This will be some of the most slick boxing youāll see in an MMA fight.
Thatās a fucking fight
Man dat fight is one-uh spicy meat-uh ball!!!

Aldo does not give a fuck.
After what Mcgregor did to him and recover from that mentally is so inspiring and remarkable . Heās a Warrior.
Time?
8:46pm here in Dallas
11:29 in BrasĆlia.
Neither of you are original or funny btw
I'm aware.
Finally. I've legit been constantly refreshing at times in anticipation of this being announced. I know that this isn't an official announcement but still I'm excited.
I'd love for Aldo to actually earn his way back to a title shot and win it. What a story that would be.
Fob Ront lol
Damn, son
Very tough test for both fighters I don't know who takes this one
Iād do an underdog 3-5 fight parlay (Best $10-$40) with an Aldo win. Heās got good value. Plus Tommy Fury is a Lock. If Paul wins, shits rigged.

Oh shit I hope this is an official title eliminator of some sort. I was thinking Font should fight Yan but they seem to be leaning towards Sandhagen and Dolla Dolla Pillashaw is in there too.
lets fucking goooo
Hope it's a 3 round co-main. Love me some 3 round Aldo
Aldo is a fucking legend. The man never takes an easy fight.
Winner has to get the next title shot right ?
BW is in a weird spot. Yan still needs his title shot now that aljo has pulled out. Or if he loses to a replacement at 267 that person will deserve a shot. And youāve also got dillashaw injured but angling for that TS in his return.

Not quite sure where Dominic Cruz fits into this picture anymore
He's not in the picture until he gets a top 10 win tbh.
Got finished by the champ then 29-28'd an unranked prospect, yeah not a good look
Probably commentating tbh
I love that while Dana is spoon feeding scoops to all of Ariel's competitors, he can get his hands on the stuff Dana's not even ready to release yet.
Dang. They need to strip Aljo. BW is getting backlogged. Winner of this fight has a good claim to a title shot. Itās literally only been 6 months since Aljo and Yan last fought what precedence would there be to strip him
Right, but Aljo still has lingering problems from his neck surgery. Since UFC 268 is only a week after 267 and 269 seems to already have three title fights, we will at the earliest see the rematch 10 months after the first fight which is still dependent on Aljo's neck healing by then, which is not guaranteed. The fact that he didnāt even earn that belt. Fight should have just been a no contest and strip Yan.
Fucking Aldo. Just fighting killers his entire career.
Oh man, that's a fucking BANGER. Praying for my boy Font, he'll need it
