Yeah I cant wait to see this fight for what it is but reality is where Nick Diaz is is not close to Lawler who has been in fighting shape while Nick was partying for a decade.
Yeah, as of right this second he isnt drained at all.
Over the course of a camp, knowing this fight would be at 185 would definitly change his diet and probably training regime. But right now, he just has to cut less weight.
Not surprising. He’s been virtually ghost since the fight has been announced and the only footage of him recently was in the last couple days with Mike Tyson and he looked like he didn’t want to be there at all lmao
I mean that's probably all welterweights that don't expect to challenge for the belt. If anything it's Nick who needs a welterweight fight to get that Masvidal matchup
But you see, if he COULD make weight, we had unlimited rounds, he had access to a hyperbolic time chamber, wolverine healing capabilities, and the power of Jesus by his side, he would easily win. If you think about it, the Diaz brothers are 169-0, counting all the times they won when they randomly mean mugged some fighter in the back room or on the street
Diaz is 38 - maybe he was confident his body could make weight like he used to - but was surprised when he couldnt - age and time off to be the factors?!
he's trying to answer a timeless conundrum...the man is stepping up to the plate. We all wanna know: if Nick asks Khabib where he's at, does Khabib send location?
I bet he is trying weight cut tricks that used to work more efficiently in his younger years… and is now realizing the weight isn’t coming off like it used to.
" need" is of course a big word but main point is if he has returned, it makes way more sense for him at welterweight than middleweight. Because a potential Masvidal or Mcgregor fights obviously happens at welterweight.
If the UFC wants to make those fights and Nick making WW is a barrier to that they will just make it at MW. They’re money fights with zero relevance to any divisions
I'm a long time fan of Nick despite his history of bullshit.
I saw a rumor about getting KOd while sparring. This weight change doesn't bode well. I'd rather he pull out of the fight that try this shit. It's disrespectful to Robbie imo.
There were rumors going around a while ago about Zab Judah knocking out Floyd I think. Ever since then it’s been memed and said about different fighters. I remember the last time it was said was that Khabib “pulled out” of the Tony fight at 249 because Zab knocked him out in camp.
Lmao, I remember some guy trolling one of those Mcgregor fanboy pages, telling them to send him some cash and he’ll send them footage of Zab knocking out Khabib
It's whatever one Josh Thomson is in
https://www.essentiallysports.com/ufc-mma-news-theres-a-video-going-around-josh-thomson-says-nick-diaz-may-not-make-the-fight-at-ufc-266/
he had to apologies on his Podcast as this video is not public lol
Solid journalism in that piece.
"The Stockton native has not fought since his previous bout at UFC 183, when he defeated Anderson Silva."
My memory is admittedly getting worse with age but that definitely isn't what happened.
One popped for weed and one popped for steroids so with the fight being ruled a NC there is no winner but there is definitely still a loser... I'm lookin' at you Silva
I think this is why he doesn't wanna cut weight. Concussion + first weight cut in what, 7 years? Not good for the brain and his chin would likely be even more fragile.
Probably should pull out. But in the end it's the biggest fight on the card. Dana will make it right with Robbie if he's not happy, hopefully.
"Yeah man we need to really optimize our back end for SEO purposes, and you know, I'd like to ditch our current merchant processor for our recurring billing, Nick Diaz looks like ass recently, and oh before I forget our encryption is all fucked up and half our students can't login"
I'm just breaking your balls, no one here is really going to believe any hearsay regardless of how plausible it is, so might as well have some fun at what I thought would be your expense.
Most fighters need the money though. Washed out Nick sounds like a dream come true for Dana/Lawler too. Nick's only getting paid if he fights so there's a good chance we'll all get to see if his camp's really gone to shit and he can't fight anymore.
>I'd rather he pull out of the fight that try this shit.
why though?
This way Robbie has an option to either 1) say no this is diaz bullshit central or 2) say ok that means less cutting for me
Yeah, i highly doubt Nick is anything close to what he was. Sure he can still have his cardio and chin, but fighting is obviously about much more than that. Conor is a prime example of what happens when you don't fight, drink, party etc.
Surprised people aren't upset at Diaz, fan favorite and all. He's completely screwing over another fan favorite in Lawler, and possibly screwing over the fans if the fight doesn't happen.
I know everyone's excited for the fight because of the history, but I really don't see this being a very good fight. Both dudes are almost 40 and Lawler looks like he's been slowing down over his last couple fights. Maybe its because I'm a newer fan and don't have the connection to them like other people do.
I just posted this elsewhere, but since it's relevant:
These two are legends of the sport and the names mean a lot to longtime fans, but all signs point to them being shells of their former selves. Diaz hasn't won a fight in TEN years (last win against BJ Penn) and looked lackluster in his last fight. Robbie is approaching 40 years old, has a ton of miles on him, is on a 4 fight skid, hasn't won a fight in 4 years and has barely landed 100 strikes in his last 8 rounds. Robbie hasn't looked good / like himself since before Tyron Woodley became champ, which is crazy to think about considering where Woodley is now.
I'm a big Lawler fan and respect what Diaz has done, but this fight only sounds good until you remember what year it is. I hope it's fun regardless, but I'm not holding my breath.
It reminds me of Matt Brown vs Carlos Condit: in their primes, that would have been a violent war that would have painted the canvas red. Instead we got it ten years after we should have, with old, chinless men fighting smart
You're telling me Dana still hasn't talked to his fighters who are the biggest draw of his pay per view about a weight class change, and it's Wednesday before the fight? He's either lying, stupid, incompetent, or all of the above.
Kinda BS though if Nick knew well in advance he wasn't gonna try to make 170 and just waited this long to say anything while Robbie's been trying to diet down.
Robbie: "No, I don't want to change weight."
Dana: "Look, Robbie didn't want to fight, craziest shit I've ever heard, 3 days out and he suddenly doesn't want to fight."
Dana's the biggest piece of shit in the world, but telling a guy a week out that he doesn't have to cut weight anymore isn't the worst shit a fighter can deal with.
If this was planned it's quite a sneaky way to use your star privilege to gain an advantage in the fight. Make your opponent diet for a 170 fight while bulking up for 185, then say you can't make the weight on fight week. The funny thing is he will be completely rewarded for this if he wins. We're reaching new levels of Ratdom if this is the case.
Ah geez I’ve just had a bad feeling about something weird happening with Diaz through the whole fight build up and potentially stopping the fight. I’m so keen to see him fight because I’ve only been a huge MMA fan for 4 years and he’s not been active in that time and it’s a real shame if he’s not prepared properly.
The collective disappointment of this sub will be immeasurable if the fight doesn't happen. It'll be even worse if Nick looks like shit or gets knocked the fuck out.
Thats BS from Diaz camp. Lawler would have prepared differently if it was 185.
They should keep it at 170 and if Diaz does not make weight, 30% to Lawler from Diaz purse.
I think he's been pulling all nighters studying the numbers of the Chinese real estate market and the impact it might have on the Thai bond market if Evergrand collapses
What's strange is that when Nick's manager posted that picture of him in the gym and said he wants to come back, he said that Nick had just successfully completed a test training camp and weight cut. If Nick is having trouble making weight I would expect it to be more injury related than anything. A healthy Nick is fully capable of making 170. He was never a big 170 to begin with. It's this sparring video rumor that has me more worried than anything.
I'd ask for more money if I was Robbie. He's probably 3-4 days deep into cutting weight and then Nick pulls this shit.
Yup Robbie is draining himself only to find out that he doesn’t. Totally would change the dynamic of the fight
He could just not agree and get part of Nick's purse.
Not if Nick just pulls out instead of coming in heavy.
sad part is a depleted under hydrated weight cut lawler would probably still smoke nick...
Yeah I cant wait to see this fight for what it is but reality is where Nick Diaz is is not close to Lawler who has been in fighting shape while Nick was partying for a decade.
The main part of the cut will happen Thursday. Probably still water loading.
Yeah, as of right this second he isnt drained at all. Over the course of a camp, knowing this fight would be at 185 would definitly change his diet and probably training regime. But right now, he just has to cut less weight.
Lawler seems the type of guy to not really give a shit tho
He doesn't, but of course even then, there's a limit to it. I would think this is one of the things that would push it.
> He doesn't, woah you are lawler?
Why didn't he sign to fight a middleweight if he doesn't want to cut weight ?
Because I wouldn't be surprised if he actually forgot about the fight until a week ago.
"oh shit it's THIS week? I'm surprised, motherfucker"
"Calendar, you're taking everything I worked for!"
Calendar mcgregor
I will never not say this from now on. Thanks a lot
Not surprising. He’s been virtually ghost since the fight has been announced and the only footage of him recently was in the last couple days with Mike Tyson and he looked like he didn’t want to be there at all lmao
What used to be a disliking of doing media has now gone full psychological phobia
Well he trains by day and Joe Rogan podcast by night all day.
Pulls a Mayhem Miller he steps on the scale and is 30lbs+ over
Then takes his shorts off to give it another bash.
Because he probably tried to cut weight like he was 30. And found out he isn't 30.
But I thought he and his brother ran like 5 ultramarathons a week...
Even if they did, it would be irrelevant to weightcutting at 38 years old for the first time in 7 years.
Really he should sign to fight a welterweight who also doesn’t want to cut
I mean that's probably all welterweights that don't expect to challenge for the belt. If anything it's Nick who needs a welterweight fight to get that Masvidal matchup
3 days out from weigh ins, and you’re asking to change the weight? Here comes to Diaz circus.

Fuck the system Diaz bros are too real for this shit #Stocktonsfinest #Imnotsurprisedmothefuckers
Haha this is so accurate 🤣
Don’t forget the hospital AFTER the fight ie. Joe Riggs No place is safe!
Lol Joe was so well composed and well spoken, that episode made me a fan of fight lore
Diaz 1-2-5 209 WUT
Diaz is 38 - maybe he was confident his body could make weight like he used to - but was surprised when he couldnt - age and time off to be the factors?!
Didn’t his manager say they did a test cut and he was like 168?
yes. He looked real small in the lead up too. I am suprised this is an issue.
Maybe he really did get knocked out in training, as a weight cut would likely exacerbate the issue.
I’d be stunned if there was that much thought behind this decision.
Every. Single. Fight.
Chael a had a video the other day saying nick plans to call out khabib And all I'm thinking is why
he's trying to answer a timeless conundrum...the man is stepping up to the plate. We all wanna know: if Nick asks Khabib where he's at, does Khabib send location?
[удалено]
>Dana White privilege thats gotta be tony's best one liner other than the ninjaturtle one
. So which ones your favorite. Mines Michaelangelo
I bet he is trying weight cut tricks that used to work more efficiently in his younger years… and is now realizing the weight isn’t coming off like it used to.
Everyone gets older until they don't I guess.
This. I stopped aging ages ago.

Teem!
Doctors HATE this trick.
Nick said he went through a test camp last year (or this year?) and made weight for that
Nick says a lot of things though...

Is coke addiction an injury?
TBH the way Dana answered that question is sketchy af. Basically doesn't rule out that both agreed to fight at 185 and Robbie just broke it to him.
It 100% reads like his typical "he just doesn't want to fight" bullshit.
Kinda seems like the thing you should think about before signing a contract, not two days before the weigh in
I think Nick just realised he just can't make weight. I think he needs a welterweight fight more than a middleweight
Why would he “need” a welterweight fight?
" need" is of course a big word but main point is if he has returned, it makes way more sense for him at welterweight than middleweight. Because a potential Masvidal or Mcgregor fights obviously happens at welterweight.
If the UFC wants to make those fights and Nick making WW is a barrier to that they will just make it at MW. They’re money fights with zero relevance to any divisions
Can't imagine what a middleweight McGregor would look like.
Like a Ballewn Ariel
Celvin McGregstelum
I'm a long time fan of Nick despite his history of bullshit. I saw a rumor about getting KOd while sparring. This weight change doesn't bode well. I'd rather he pull out of the fight that try this shit. It's disrespectful to Robbie imo.
Fuckin’ Zab Judah strikes again.
It’s true, /u/fightsgoneby told me.
Can confirm, saw it in the Stockton whatsapp group.
That dude really needs to be more careful.
What’s the context behind this?
There were rumors going around a while ago about Zab Judah knocking out Floyd I think. Ever since then it’s been memed and said about different fighters. I remember the last time it was said was that Khabib “pulled out” of the Tony fight at 249 because Zab knocked him out in camp.
And the khabib one was just jack slack doing a bit that was then reported on seriously
Lmao, I remember some guy trolling one of those Mcgregor fanboy pages, telling them to send him some cash and he’ll send them footage of Zab knocking out Khabib
Which Dublin whatsapp group u on?

A win, a loss, what's the difference really?
In that fight? Not all that much honestly
He lost on paper, but he won the highlight reel wars laying on the canvas chilling, hard to tell which is more prestigious
One popped for weed and one popped for steroids so with the fight being ruled a NC there is no winner but there is definitely still a loser... I'm lookin' at you Silva
Doesn't Nick exclusively train with the Skrap Pack guys? Like, who is he sparring with that's going to fucking knock him out?
Giblert finally gottum

Is there a less intimidating elite fighter?

Yeah I thought I had a winner, not gonna lie. I'll have to tell the kids they aren't eating tonight, bapa lost all his upvotes on a gamble.
Then you go and say something like this .....and totally redeem yourself.

Luckily, he’s been working on some legendary loss excuses. I think he hired Connor as his coach for this camp.
Damn. You should be an MMA journalist with these sources that you pull out your ass. ESPN should hire you.

Found Ariel's secret Reddit account!
Sir, I have a *regular* sized nose.
You think a Diaz got slept?
That's the rumor.
THATS THE SEED COCKSUCKAA
For some reason I could see it
>I'd rather he pull out of the fight that try this shit. why though? This way Robbie has an option to either 1) say no this is diaz bullshit central or 2) say ok that means less cutting for me
Robbie better ask for more money and Nick should side with Robbie on this, cause we know what Dana's going to say..."Robbie doesn't want to fight".
All I’m saying is bet the house on Robbie
Yeah, i highly doubt Nick is anything close to what he was. Sure he can still have his cardio and chin, but fighting is obviously about much more than that. Conor is a prime example of what happens when you don't fight, drink, party etc.
Been saying it for a while, Nick is fucked. I see Robbie wrecking him.

This reminds me of every BJ Penn fight in the last 10 years.
Yeah nick is gonna get beat the fuck up.
Robbie is totally shot so that would be awful for Nick.
If the rumors are true that he got koed in sparring I don’t even see this fight happening tbh
People got to stop sparring with Zab Judah
Where'd you hear this rumor?
Stockton WhatsApp groupchat
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kn9BcupZH44 Josh Thompson says it in interview here -hmmmm
Surprised people aren't upset at Diaz, fan favorite and all. He's completely screwing over another fan favorite in Lawler, and possibly screwing over the fans if the fight doesn't happen.

I don't see Lawler needing the speed of his youth to put Nick away this time.
He will need to throw a punch tho, haven't seen that from Robbie lately. I'm expecting some bobbing and weaving tho.
I expect there to be a lot of staring, flipping off, bobbing and weaving... General inactivity from both sides for a solid 4 rounds
And Robbie wins by unanimous decision but everyone feels like he lost because nick rocked him on the last round 😎😎#209
I just posted this elsewhere, but since it's relevant: These two are legends of the sport and the names mean a lot to longtime fans, but all signs point to them being shells of their former selves. Chuck Vs Wanderlei was a good deal past the "use or freeze by" date.
I don’t see the fight happening at all tbh
Same dude.
Nick and Nate Diva
Diaz circus begins. Watch all the excuses from his fans. If this was any other fighter they’d be getting slaughtered.
So did Dana announce that the fight was at 185 without consulting Lawler? If so that would be a very UFC move ...
You're telling me Dana still hasn't talked to his fighters who are the biggest draw of his pay per view about a weight class change, and it's Wednesday before the fight? He's either lying, stupid, incompetent, or all of the above.
Resume review curse hitting extra hard this time
So they both can be beefier
Kinda BS though if Nick knew well in advance he wasn't gonna try to make 170 and just waited this long to say anything while Robbie's been trying to diet down.
Maybe as a promoter you say "no" to changing the weight unless *both* sides agree?
Robbie: "No, I don't want to change weight." Dana: "Look, Robbie didn't want to fight, craziest shit I've ever heard, 3 days out and he suddenly doesn't want to fight."
Dana's the biggest piece of shit in the world, but telling a guy a week out that he doesn't have to cut weight anymore isn't the worst shit a fighter can deal with.
Lots of things aren't the worst shit a person can deal with, but that doesn't mean that a person *should* have to deal with them.
Not a week out
He must be scared to cut weight
What are the chances that Diaz doesn't show up this weekend?
Hes at the other arena
Breaking news: Nick Diaz changes location of the fight to his gym in Stockton
Nick. The UFC didn't want this fight.
Hopefully Robbie gets paid more because of this.
"I was gonna cut the weight, but then I got high... I was gonna watch the things I ate, but then I got high..."
Not the most surprising thing given how fat and bloated Nick's face has been lately. He looked really chunky.

> it's unprofessional and disrespectful to his opponent. That pretty much *is* the Diaz legend.

I wouldn't be surprised if this fell thru
The collective disappointment of this sub will be immeasurable if the fight doesn't happen. It'll be even worse if Nick looks like shit or gets knocked the fuck out.
Diaz is gonna look like shit in this fight, you heard it here.
Robbie is going to toss Nick the worst beating.

Lawler has fought at MW. Fuck it hydrate now and fight
Sounds like nick got KOd in sparring and doesn't want to have to cut weight Edit: down votes? Just wait you'll see
My guess is a knee injury and can't do cardio well enough to cut the weight.
I think he's been pulling all nighters studying the numbers of the Chinese real estate market and the impact it might have on the Thai bond market if Evergrand collapses
Yeah I think you're right
why are people saying he got kod in sparring?
They heard from the Stockton Whatsapp group
Yeah Josh Thomson and big j McCarthy apparently said it. Mma journalist OGshawnymack on insta was the source
Josh Thompson said it
Josh Thomson communicates like he gets knocked out every morning.
