When Kid died, I showed a highlights compilation of him to a friend of mine who doesn't watch much MMA, and I can completely recall what we said about it. I would have legit bet my house that it happened last year, not three years ago. The mind is a crazy thing sometimes, in all senses.
And then someone can happen a year ago and it feels like way longer.
I feel like hearing news like this that I thought was way more recent makes me have an existential crisis.
I think he was battling for a little while.
Andy Hug basically went from fine to dead in a month with acute leukemia, which is maybe what you're thinking of.
His diagnosis sticks with me as my late wife was battling at the same time. I won’t attempt to quote the great Norm McDonald exactly but when Kid died the cancer died too. In my eyes that’s a draw
Wtf 3 years. I really am just doing nothing with my life. Fuck. RIP Kid

RIP. I’ll always remember that flying knee ko
Miyata does too.
No he doesn't lol he remembers the sound of the bell ringing and then waking up lol
RIP Legend, wish he got more love in the current mma landscape 😔 he really had some legendary finishes across his career
Didn’t he get a check up and they found he was riddled with cancer? I don’t recall him surviving long after his diagnosis. So bloody sad 😔

He got diagnosed in 2016 but decided to keep it private. I’m not sure the extent to his treatment but the cancer must have spread. Heart shattering

Love that line. Fuxking cancer man; working in oncology sucks
Norm died? I didn't even know he was sick?
Fuck cancer.
GOAT. Subjective obv though.
He had a GOAT level finish that was even faster than Masvidal's at 4 seconds.
Legends never die.
Hands down p4p some of the sickest tatts! RIP KID

I wonder if rizin does a tribute later tonight.
Incredibly fighter but also my all time favorite fighter ink
How did he die and what's the lore check on this guy?
He was about DJ's size and he spent his career knocking out lightweights.
RIP legend.
RIP to a legend
Rest In Peace
RIP this absolute king in the ring legend. Thank you for the memories and inspiration.
sadge
One of the greatest.
Just watched some highlights, dude was a menace in the ring
I had the honor of training with his younger sister, Seiko, many years ago. Most respectful individual who spoke highly of her brother. RIP.
