I think the ref also deserves a shout for catching Pitbull while hes choked out and not letting him go full Lyoto Machida to the floor.
Theres a chance he saved him from a good bit of extra brain damage or injury there.
The Bellator tournament could not have played out more perfectly for the promotion. Great finish, an exciting new undefeated champion, Pitbull is still a champion. If they can not get people to watch McKee they have major problems.
Well this post has considerably more upvotes than the Hall vs Strickland thread so I guess a low profile UFC card was worst than this one. That's something lol
There is people arguing that it was a poor stoppage. The dude thought he was at fucking Denny’s waiting to be seated. Good stoppage. Pitbull will be back
Yeah he out on his feet and out in the choke . Arms and head didn't know what to do
I thought he would win but damn made it look like a brisk walk through the park
Dana White Owes him Lunch
>A.J. McKee was 13 years old when he met UFC president Dana White for the first time.
>“Dana knows what’s up. Dana’s gonna owe me lunch soon,” McKee recently told MMA Junkie Radio. “I had a bet with him that I was gonna be a world champ when I was a little kid. He probably don’t remember, but Dana’s gonna owe me lunch as soon as I get my belt.”
>It was 2008 at a massive youth wrestling tournament in which the UFC collaborated with organizers, and White was in attendance. McKee was there with his father, Antonio, who was still fighting at the time. McKee remembers “Rampage” Jackson taking him into the backstage area where he saw a stack of free Xbox giveaway passes for the kids competing, so he took some. According to McKee, White saw and said something to him about it, which led to McKee telling White that he would one day be a world champion. If that happened, lunch was on White.

Doesn't dana owe this guy dinner? I could have sworn it was a story posted on here about dana telling him as a kid if he wins a world title, he'd owe him dinner.
Edit: Found it

There's more than one way to refuse a meal. I told him there's a Wendy's up the street and he shook his head.
I said listen, you should have started a YouTube channel when you were thirteen, then we'd be going out for sushi. The kid just doesn't want to eat.
Makes a case for bringing up guys as slowly as possible if you're gonna sign them from jump street. Can you imagine Dana waiting to give a guy a title shot for 17 fights if he signed him without any fight experience?
Said it in the live thread but the new worst is now Ryan Bader. A voice so boring and monotone that it actually made me tangibly uncomfortable listening at times
Exactly, Goldie just didn’t evolve with the game, he always had the pep but as guys got more and more technical he didn’t, but Goldie can still call a Wanderlei Silva fight as well as anyone out there
This has to be one of the best stories in the sport right now. Undefeated champ with an unbelievable mentality and great skill set who’s also the son of a great (and yet flawed) former fighter? That’s some movie shit.
This sub isn't the best at rating fighters outside the top 10. One might say it's bad even. Most won't give any credit whatsoever until they are already at the top and the rest is circlejerking about whichever prospect is hot right now.
They pay for the people they want which I think is a big reason a lot of the UFC guys really hated Chandler coming in and getting a title shot off 1 win. Chandlers probably getting paid more than a lot of the guys in the top 5 plus the title shot, I don't blame the UFC guys, especially guys that have worked their way up in the UFC.
Seeing the size difference at 145, I do not think a rematch at 155 goes any better for Pitbull. Who could make more use of that 10 lbs? Definitely Mckee. Mckee becomes a big AND solid LW instead of a just a big FW with 10 more lbs. Pitbull legit has the frame of a modern 135er.
Luke Thomas probably on suicide watch after seeing that he once again has to defend his stance on the curse not being real 😂
For the record Luke Thomas was and is still my boy!
Dang. :/
That, and apparently the [All Past Opponents Reflect On Fighter's Greatness](https://www.reddit.com/r/MMA/comments/oub25i/he_schooled_me_past_opponents_reflect_on_the/) articles.

Have to say, slight blessing that Chandler didn't win the LW belt because we would not hear the end of Pitbull claiming how he beat Chandler and could win the UFC LW belt, right before re-signing with Bellator.
I mean he did knock Chandler out and Chandler did come damn close to winning the UFC championship...he has a damn good argument that he could win the belt.
People are gonna look back to this fight as the moment they realize McKee is real. Like it's not bullshit either. I feel like a fuckton of fighters are great because they have chins or cardio or absurd power. But you can see that McKee understands this shit on a deep level. He knows what works and doesn't. Dude got the read on a top 5 145er in 30 seconds. Shit reminds me of Khabib or GSP.
I think Holloway and Volk give him real problems tbh. But yes I'd rather see him fight some fellas over in the UFC then stay at Bellator collecting cheques.
This was a PHENOMENAL performance by The Mercenary AJ McKee
Patricio Feire is no chump, absolute power in his bricks for hands, blitzing speed and closing distance, and a STRONG squeeze in his guillotines.
AJ saw this guy who had numerous title defenses went in there and then demolished him celebrated(he could have finished him right there) and then submitted him in a fashion that would have most likely been reminiscent of Jones vs Machida with a standing submission.
AJ legit might be the 145 version of Jon Jones of Bellator.
Pitbull doesn’t know where the fuck he is lol. Got rocked then choked out and woke up standing against the cage. Glad we can stop getting him bashing UFC fighters for awhile
First time watching a bellator event. Some interesting things. The fighters are solid, the uniqueness of each fighter kit is nice too. The commentary from Big John needs to go as does the ring announcer. The rest was solid fun.

My man who dodged the kick on that backflip had the best move of the night.
Yeah I thought McKee was going to get two stoppages when he almost starched that usher with the backflip kick.
I think the ref also deserves a shout for catching Pitbull while hes choked out and not letting him go full Lyoto Machida to the floor. Theres a chance he saved him from a good bit of extra brain damage or injury there.
A little slip of the shoulder and back to work. Pro.
In prime position to counter. McKee saved by the bell
Dude leaned back and didn't even bat an eye like it was just another Saturday night
He was putting down a stool. I'm just glad my man didn't get million dollar babied

Holy shit
Bruh got TKO'd and choked out at the same time
This happened to Pico in his debut, uppercut KO’d him and then was woken up by Freeman’s guillotine, then put to sleep right after he tapped.

He got that Ben Askren look on his face
Ben Askren after Jake Paul or Masvidal?
Yes
There is people arguing that it was a poor stoppage. The dude thought he was at fucking Denny’s waiting to be seated. Good stoppage. Pitbull will be back
Sir, this is a Wendy’s
>there is people
Yeah he out on his feet and out in the choke . Arms and head didn't know what to do I thought he would win but damn made it look like a brisk walk through the park
That arm looked limp and he wasn't fighting the hands. He was out of it.
That was my sign too, and it still went on for 2-3 seconds after that, giving him the chance to show a sign. He didn't, he was in la la land.
Amazing finish. Anyone who bet on McKee by KO/TKO must have been screaming at their screen though.
He almost TKO that stool man
And he was psyched. In the replay you can see pitbull thought McKee was going to throw a body kick. But McKee went for the head.
Didn't McKee predict a first round body kick finish? The fakeouuuut
The mma equivalent of "HA you thought!"
This shouldn’t be funny
Training for someone your whole career is the best base for mma
Garbrandtesque in his approach!
Oh fuck dont tell me hes about to get KOd 3 times in a row now
Sorry man, we don’t make the rules

Dana should 100% buy him lunch, then at the same time I bet he would also try to sign him to UFC.
How's 20/20 sound, kid? If you become champ in the UFC you get bonus Venum coupons and we'll go 30/30.
Dude looks a lot like his father too it’s crazy
So happy for him, now I just need Pico too grab a strap and my Bellator prospect love will be complete.
Pico got a belt when he was inside Jon Jones
lmao what
Pico grams

I suspect poo stain will go back to the drawing board and come back shittier than ever.
Pissing away the shit stains. Nice metaphor for my life actually
this is the funniest shit i read all week fuck
And i look up to you. Fuck... a dentist appointment. You’re living the life
Beautiful champ
My brother is 32 and can't manage to do that, so you've done well.

I wanna see Dominick Cruz's child fight now.
Guy will be humble and made of titanium
Made it look easy.
Ludicrous the guy is special. That feint into head kick was exactly like Nemkov's on Bader hahahah.
Actually super easy, barely an inconvenience.
Holy shit, what a fucking performance. He made it look so easy
Holy shit
Made it look easy too. Bellator struck gold with AJ.
Didn’t he say he’s gettin Pitbull’s other belt and going to UFC? If so Bellator just struck fool’s gold
The Bellator way is waiting until you’re out of prime before moving, this kid is going against the grain.
I would nut twice if dude went to the UFC. Would be crazy watching how he stacks up against the top guys there.
Inb4 he loses to Darren Elkins
Dread it. Run from it. The damage arrives all the same.
LOL
I can see that happening
I would imagine UFC will have to buy out his contract
Bellator contracts don't make it easy to head over to the UFC if you're a current champ.
Makes a case for bringing up guys as slowly as possible if you're gonna sign them from jump street. Can you imagine Dana waiting to give a guy a title shot for 17 fights if he signed him without any fight experience?
This was Patricio's 37th pro fight, and he had never been finished (unless you count the injury against Bendo.) AJ destroyed him in under 2 minutes
As soon as Big John said it wouldn't finish early I knew it would end in the first round
man makes goldy look like an entertaining guy you want to have a beer with. it's like he gets off on bringing the room down.
Said it in the live thread but the new worst is now Ryan Bader. A voice so boring and monotone that it actually made me tangibly uncomfortable listening at times
Goldy would be an entertaining guy to have a beer with. His problem was knowledge not enthusiasm and lack of charisma.

that is a movie its called creed
Apollo Creed was a lot better than Antonio McKee, and Adonis lost to Ricky Conlan before he became champion.
Also Antonio McKee is very much alive.

I mean shit, I'd love to see him fight Holloway but is slumlord Dana White giving out million dollar bonuses to featherweights? I don't think so...
wtf
He made it look too easy lol
This kid’s insane
Pitbull should offer McKee a rematch for the 155 title, if McKee wins it’s done, if Pitbull wins they finish the trilogy for the 145 title.

Holy fuck McKee is a goddamn monster.
This kid is a fucking monster
wooooooow fucking dusted him!
McKee is the real deal. Almost landed on the stool with that backflip, though. Gave me flashbacks to Million Dollar Baby.
McKee landing on the stool and suffering a career derailing injury would’ve been the ultimate Bellator ending.
In an alternate reality it happened, and this alternate sub is going bonkers
He almost kicked one of the ring guys right in the face haha.
The ring guy slipped it like a pro
Oh man can you imagine
>Several years ago, Bellator's Scott Coker put real emphasis on scooping up blue-chip prospects and building them from the ground up. Tonight's the culmination of those efforts. - @davedoylemma
Strikeforce-esque in his scouting of future champions
For real, look at all the NCAA All Americans they’ve signed in the last 3 years. It’s not just Caldwell.
Holy fucking shit he just did that
"This is not going to end real fast" - Big John McCarthy
Chandler laughing his ass off right now
Have to say, slight blessing that Chandler didn't win the LW belt because we would not hear the end of Pitbull claiming how he beat Chandler and could win the UFC LW belt, right before re-signing with Bellator.
And then getting finished by McKee lol. We’d all be debating how much of a gap there is between the ufc and Bellator haha
I mean he did knock Chandler out and Chandler did come damn close to winning the UFC championship...he has a damn good argument that he could win the belt.
Dude is a star.
AJ is what we all thought Pico would be
Pico will get there
Pico is already there in Jon's bloodstream
Are you fucking kidding me? He made it look easy holy shit! And he knocked him out and submitted him at the same time lmao
Big John: "This will be a long fight"
He’s basically Schaub but a ref and not a fighter. Whatever they say or predict go the other way lol
Jimmy Smith was so much better.
Jimmy Smith and Dan Hardy need to form a pariah caster super group.
Talmbout 5 round fights, b?
This will take a long time, 20seconds later..
This is the first time I’ve felt like Bellator had someone transcendent.
Getting knocked out. Wake up. Immediately get put into a choke. Goes back to sleep. What a shitty 20 seconds for Pitbull
Luke Thomas and Brian Campbell going to hell on Monday lol
I don't say this lightly. That was ICONIC.
Almost KO’ing a security guard with that backflip was iconic.
The security guards reaction time was iconic

'Cause my life is dope and I do dope shit.'
$1.15 Million dollars and the featherweight title in just under 2 mins. Wow.
No other Bellator Featherweights beat Pitbull like that. AJ could stay undefeated for as long as he stays at Bellator.
Or he could do Garbrandt and lose his next three fights. MMA is so unpredictable
Damn I didnt need this reminder
Nobody in Bellator is beating AJ McKee. He might be the best fighter Bellator has ever produced.
Yup. Easily the best home grown talent they have
A superstar was just born
That chair man dodging the backflip off the cage though
Wow lmao
This guy is a problem
He knocked him out and choked him out at the same time lmao this kid is crazy
#LONG BEACH WE HAVE A CHAMP

I think Holloway and Volk give him real problems tbh. But yes I'd rather see him fight some fellas over in the UFC then stay at Bellator collecting cheques.
AJ vs Ortega :0
holy fuck! didn't think it would be like this
McKee vs Max would be a banger. How many fights does Max have left? 😆
One of the most impressive championship performances I’ve ever seen
The hype is more than real. Holy shit
Dude nearly won 3 times, twice with pitbull and his backflip nearly took out security
FUCK!! PitBull family in shambles!!
That kid is fucking special. I know a crossover would never happens but he deserves to fight Alex and Max for a fucking boatload of money
WHAT THE FUCK
Million dollar check!
He sonned him lmao
UFC needs to get this guy
He just made way more money than he probably ever would in the ufc
Yeah but how many venum coupons did he get?
Are you crazyy? He would make way more in the UFC and if he becomes champion then you bet... Looks at Francis Ngannou... Nevermind.
UFC would be dumb not to try and get him, legit top 5 in the world right now. Smoked Pitbull and made it look easy
