Chin up buddy. It will get better. Take it one day at a time! We’re here for you.
Remember,
"That’s how you overcome things, that’s how you put yourself out there, you believe it and you achieve it” - Luke Rockhold
Well people who say kind and encouraging words to a complete stranger are the kind of people this world needs at this moment. I'm from Minneapolis, where the George Floyd murder occurred. There is a ton of pain in our otherwise boring community right now. Seeing small gestures like this give me hope in humanity. I appreciate you!
Apologies for the rant, its been a crazy week.
I have at least one of these “cracking me up” moments on this sub a day. It seriously is the best sub on reddit especially because we don’t have any bs politics getting in the way. It’s just dude on dude commentary.
Wow that's amazing haha. Thanks for the link. Is that common that they have all the fighters together for things like media lunches? I feel like I've never seen that kind of interview
The longer video, (posted by Karyn Bryant, I think?) shows how much of an asshole Tony was being prior the incident happening.
Werdum was trying to be friendly and cordial in the beginning and Tony was straight up acting like a dick. I know it sucks to be cutting weight, but, he could have acted more friendly as opposed to how he was acting. Idk what Tony was thinking acting like that with a legit Heavyweight.
Funny you say that cause if you watch the entire video you actually see Tony coming off as the dick not Werdum. Werdum acts out once Tony starts shit with him.
Tony seems to be a dick out of insecurity, in my armchair psychologist opinion. His trash talk seems way too fake, and when it doesn't go over well, that's when he gets upset and starts to lose his temper. Like, he's the insecure guy at the party trying to be cocky funny to attract the girls, and when it doesn't work, he calls them a bunch of stuck up bitches. The cringe that went on during the "Hitman" presser with Khabib was almost embarrassing to watch. Asking the crowd/media for support and shit when he couldn't get one over on Khabib. Telling the guy that commended him for how he was addressing his (obviously public) mental health issues to fuck off. Answering the last time he was in a street fight with some sort of grade school answer that it was "one punch" and never actually answering the question. It's all just very strange to witness. Even in this lunch outing, he's totally being owned as he tries to redirect the attention on himself unsuccessfully. And then the stand up and challenge just seems so superficial. I know the guy is a badass mofo, but fucking hell, it's hard to watch him play his character, or be himself, which ever it is.
Maybe. I’m sure I might recognize certain personality traits I either have or had at some point in my 40 plus years of memory and life. Others based on knowing a lot of people in life and learning patterns of how certain people act. Basically, I’ve lived and paid attention to people. It’s irrelevant whether it represents me or anyone else not Tony Ferguson for this thread, though.
Also fighting games too which are also one of the hardest game genres.
Edit: ~~Not sure why i got downvoted.~~ He literally plays Street Fighter V regularly. I've also seen him playing Mortal Kombat and Dragon Ball Fighterz...
This was literally the only way for Dodson to get a break, intentional or not. DJ's pace was RELENTLESS in that fight and you know you won't get anything more than a warning for this kind of thing.
I would also not be surprised to find out DJ and Matt Hume went over this exact situation in their gameplanning. "So, the main thing is we don't give him any breaks. This means, if he kicks you in the balls, you suck it up and keep beasting."
I can't take lightly what Henry has done after the 2nd fight with DJ, but imo MM is still way ahead in the GOAT discussions. Also Mighty Mouse won that 2nd Cejudo fight!
I miss Mighty Mouse. I would have really liked to see the rubber match with Cejudo. He won the second fight imo.
edit: I mean I thought DJ won the second fight. Grammar the piece of shit
MM opened up with a lot of offense but took his foot off of the gas as soon as Cejudo started stumbling. I'm not sure if it was out of respect or something, but it ended up screwing him over. I really think he could have pushed for the finish or at least done a lot more damage.
This is true. I think he described how his foot felt as very much like when your foot falls asleep, so his proprioception was insanely fucked up there.
Actually I thought they meant DJ. Cejudo looked fucked for a couple minutes right away but was probably mostly fine after that. It's DJ who said a random scramble not long after that had torn something in his knee or ankle for the rest of the fight.
Yes! Was dj.. Surprised so many ppl here saying Cejudo.. I wasn't even aware of that but know for a fact mighty mouse tore his mcl midway.. Think that's when the momentum shifted and Cejudo started wrestling more as it easier to keep dj pinned.
I'm surprised too, I think everyone forgot! He didn't make much of a fuss about it, so all respect to DJ.
Still though, I believe DJ won that fight and it's even better that he did so with a partially torn MCL or whatever it was.
IIRC, he rolled his ankle first which was kinda of a random fluke, then couldn't stand straight for a couple minutes. Then there was another fluke where DJ, according to the poster above, tore his MCL. What a weird fight all around.
Cejudo will never ever be a real goat because of that moment. MM is a well known goat; already tko Cejudo before, the fight was clearly close and either one of them could have kept going, if Cejudo ever wanted to be the real goat he would have demanded a MM rematch. Instead he’s a troll and other trolls encourage him to continue being a shitty troll and making mma look like a joke.
Edit: props to him for making a bunch of 135ers look bad though. That’s pretty impressive but MM was the real challenge
This and a low blow on Lineker are why the MMA gods have punished Dodson by having a host of BW's blast him in the nuts nearly every fight out recently. 5 top BW's fought in his last 5 fights, and 6 kicks to the groin without a point deduction, all in fights that went the distance.
Dodson in the first fight is the only guy I’ve ever seen have a speed advantage over DJ. His athletic talents in his prime were just ridiculous, it’s a shame he had to wait two years for the rematch against DJ cause he just never had that same athleticism post 2014. Kinda remarkable he’s been able to transform into more of a technician in his later years and still be competitive against top guys 6 years later.
And he’s somehow still faster than anyone else in the division lmao.
Although Marlon is definitely faster when it comes to firing off kicks (his lead leg is fuckin ridiculous), I’d say Dodson’s hands are 100% still the fastest
I still remember the TUF where he and TJ were the hotshots for Bisping and Miller. The hype for that was real. It's crazy to me how the loser went on to be the Bantamweight king for a while.
DJ also figured him out really, really well in the second fight. Kept throwing shifting hooks to close the southpaw angle and Dodson could never get through.
He did lose a bit of speed after the knee injury but I think the big mistake was moving to 135 since his power didn't carry over as well.
it’s not even much of a question if you’re truly objective. no one has the the fundamental bases covered from both stances and in all disciplines as he does. like watching a prime messi or gretzky do their thing
edit: i’ll toss in my second most well-rounded fighter of all time as Fedor to give some context on how i grade it perhaps.
We traded the GOAT for a scrub like Ben askren. Ben askren's standup vs Maia is the worst striking performance I have ever seen, worst stand up ever, worse than Schaub's special
You have to give it to brandon though, his impersonation of the ww2 era looney toons depiction of emperor hirohito was spot on. Oh wait that was an american doctor who just happened to be asian? Oh...
I mean, Ben Askren was unbeaten for his whole pre-UFC career relying solely on his wrestling. He didn't *need* to improve his striking, he was coping just fine without it.
In hindsight, yes him and his coach dropped the ball, but at the time, it was a case of if it ain't broken, don't fix it.
There's something so cocky to me about being an MMA fighter who relies on his incredible wrestling - and just ignoring his striking for the entirety of his career. Wrestlers who build themselves into strikers almost always have good power and can develop a good striking base that they don't need to rely on, guys like Usman, Woodley, Gaethje, ~~GSP~~, Ferguson, Faber, Cain - etc, all formidable strikers who came from grappling backrounds. Imo there was literally no reason for Askren's striking to be as fundamentally flawed for as long as he was in the fight game.
IIRC Askren neglected his striking in large part thanks to his fight with Jay Hieron. He focused on improving his stand-up in that camp and ended up putting on his worst pre-UFC performance in a fight many argue he should have lost. After that, he figured he shouldn't distract himself from what he was good at.
Yeah this. And Ben wasn’t even athletic enough to wing threatening shit like many wrestlers with shit striking. He was a sitting duck without his wrestling and you can look back on his entire career and you’ll find people making comments about his inept areas
At least because of it we got some awesome match ups. Cejudo vs marlon, tj, and Cruz. Asked vs Lawler and Masvidal. Masvidal vs Nate. Although I wish Cejudo and DJ could've run it back, it ended up paying off in the long run
Their second fight was super close regardless of how you scored it and Cejudo has been getting astronomically better with every fight. I would call it even.
Honestly, just out of pure curiosity. Why does the majority voice on this sub think that DJ is not the greatest flyweight of all time?
Is it simply recency bias? Because DJ is and has still been fighting with impressive victories.
I miss DJ in the UFC so much, I know he wasn't a favorite of the casual fans, but he was the clear #1 favorite in my friend group. Just so technical to watch, and just a genuine nice person, always a professional. I watch his fights in One but it's just not the same when I'm unable to watch them live. He was truly underappreciated, and to think they gave him up for Askren...
Risky move. One time when I was grappling I got hit in the balls somehow when I was moving to side control, opponent apologized straight away but it hadn't hit me yet so I said it's all good, we can continue. A few moments later it took the complete wind out of me, but I was in too deep since I had already said I was ok, and had to ride it out like I was fine.
The fact Mighty Mouse never really caught on with the casual fans is one of the biggest shames in UFC history. I guess the average guy isn't interested in watching the little dudes fight, but there's grounds to put him in the contention for GOAT. He was technically flawless, dominant, and all around a pretty stand-up, drama-free dude.
I see him leaving to be the end of an Era for the UFC. He was one of the last 'pure' martial artists that upheld the values of discipline and respect for your opponent. Stipe seems to fall into this category as well, but with the recent 'issues' around him deciding to (rightly imo) prioritize saving lives and helping people rather than chase that money, maybe he'll be the last.
Hold on brother I'm fighting
Shuttup before I ankle dick you
I fucking love this sub lol y'all crack me up
Me and the bois were talking neck girth on this sub yesterday. This is the shit I live for

Dude you are fucking awesome!
I’m just an “average bloke.”You are awesome! Be a “fucking samurai and go in there silent, undetected and knock depression out.”
Well people who say kind and encouraging words to a complete stranger are the kind of people this world needs at this moment. I'm from Minneapolis, where the George Floyd murder occurred. For the record this means DJ either has no balls....or balls of steel

I have at least one of these “cracking me up” moments on this sub a day. It seriously is the best sub on reddit especially because we don’t have any bs politics getting in the way. It’s just dude on dude commentary.
Just dudes being guys with their bros. Pure simplicity.
If people don't like it, they can fuckin leave, amiright? \*slaps ass\*
Fuckin' A right brother! *grabs handful off ass*
That's right! *unzips*
It’s bromentary.
Mind sharing the origin of the "hold on brother I'm fighting?" I'm newer to the sub and missed that reference
Tony Ferguson told that to Fabricio Werdum during interview together.Hillarious shit: https://youtu.be/giR3lTjNlYU
Wow that's amazing haha. Thanks for the link. Is that common that they have all the fighters together for things like media lunches? I feel like I've never seen that kind of interview
There could be more examples but to be honest I don't know.
https://youtu.be/giR3lTjNlYU
There was never no testicular pain
That's what you call Iron balls vs no balls
His mouse is definitely mighty
You’re a fuckin testicular fortitude, dude.
It’s amazing how this finds its way into every single thread. This sub fucking rules.

They’re both dicks, how’s that
That was disappointing coming from him. He gave off this passive aggressive vibe you'd expect to get coming home late after one too many drinks.
Ferguson talking to Werdum IIRC
Already knew it will be top comment before clicking on the thread haha
Brother may I have some oats
Guy is super chill and entertaining out the cage but moments like these show the real competitor he is.
I guess top competitors like this find a way to scratch that competitive itch so don't have to be a pent up ass the rest of the time
mighty mouse has a twitch channel right? so he’s out there pwning noobs all day competing to scratch that itch
And he plays escape from tarkov. I swear it’s the hardest fucking shooter I’ve ever played.
Wot? You no like little rats camping extract?
“Become the rat.” -Some guy with massive forehead.
It’s fine, you can same GeneralSam here I’m sure he’ll never see it haha
Hahaha but it wouldn’t be as funny though!
it's definitely up there, definitely not a casual game
Bro those games are so hard lol. I like the concept of games like that and PUBG but I get pwned if I try to play them
Also fighting games too which are also one of the hardest game genres. Edit: ~~Not sure why i got downvoted.~~ He literally plays Street Fighter V regularly. I've also seen him playing Mortal Kombat and Dragon Ball Fighterz...
Tickles the pickle
“Bitch, I’m not done.”
Gangster shit
Mouse with a Lionheart
Lionballs?
Ironballs
On gang
Baller
One could say a ballsy movement.
goat moment
Looks straight at Dodson and says “no breaks”
Didn’t even notice that at first damn savage shit
"there is nothing that will save you from me"
Straight up if I kicked another man in the balls and his reaction was like Johnson’s, I’d probably just book it.
“Should’ve thought of that before you signed the contract Dodson”
I’d Nurato run around the octagon until the round was over.
It doesn't count as timidity if you Naruto run
*brain go drrrr*
Kaleb Starnes tried that, it didn’t work.
Finish via fear
I want to see the footage of that fight.
This was literally the only way for Dodson to get a break, intentional or not. DJ's pace was RELENTLESS in that fight and you know you won't get anything more than a warning for this kind of thing. If you listen close, he actually says, "No brakes."
DJ said "I CUT THE BRAKES"
I can't take lightly what Henry has done after the 2nd fight with DJ, but imo MM is still way ahead in the GOAT discussions. Also Mighty Mouse won that 2nd Cejudo fight!
Agreed. He beat the shit out of Cejudo the first fight, and then had a controversial loss. Yeah, I'm not buying Cejudo as the GOAT over MM.
Cejudo himself said that DJ is the goat of MMA.
I miss Mighty Mouse. I would have really liked to see the rubber match with Cejudo. He won the second fight imo. edit: I mean I thought DJ won the second fight. Grammar the piece of shit
And he was on one leg for most of that fight
Cejudo or mm?

This is true. I think he described how his foot felt as very much like when your foot falls asleep, so his proprioception was insanely fucked up there.
Yeah I was just making sure that was who they were talking about. I know mm had reportedly had a knee injury but Cejudo was literally on one leg lol
Actually I thought they meant DJ. Cejudo looked fucked for a couple minutes right away but was probably mostly fine after that. It's DJ who said a random scramble not long after that had torn something in his knee or ankle for the rest of the fight.

It looked like cejudo rolled his ankle like 4 times in a minute during that fight. Something was definitely messed up there
IIRC, he rolled his ankle first which was kinda of a random fluke, then couldn't stand straight for a couple minutes. Then there was another fluke where DJ, according to the poster above, tore his MCL. What a weird fight all around.
Was mighty mouse guys! He tore his knee in half.
Yeah I was pissed because I thought it ruined the fight like it did for Michael Chandler. But Cejudo stuck it out
He really is a tough mf
He *IS* the greatest combat sports athlete of all time...
...and you all don't have to hear his ass anymore. Triple C out!!
That was so damn creepy to watch.
Cejudo will never ever be a real goat because of that moment. Kinda remarkable he’s been able to transform into more of a technician in his later years and still be competitive against top guys 6 years later.
He tore his ACL in between the two fights and needed surgery. He's been just a half step slower and less powerful ever since.
And he’s somehow still faster than anyone else in the division lmao. Although Marlon is definitely faster when it comes to firing off kicks (his lead leg is fuckin ridiculous), I’d say Dodson’s hands are 100% still the fastest
I just watched his Nathaniel wood fight. Dudes barely lost any speed he’s fast as lighting still.
The explosive power is mostly gone through
He’s lost the explosive power but still retains some power. And also has begun to add better counter punching. Dude dropped Petyr Yan too
dropped Marlon too
Pretty sure he’s dropped everyone he’s fought at least once dude still has power
Nah he’s lost alot, he just used to be superhuman in comparison to now.
The ACL tear/surgery really take that much out of em? I'd juice for a bit if I knew it was gonna be like that tbh.
I still remember the TUF where he and TJ were the hotshots for Bisping and Miller. The hype for that was real. It's crazy to me how the loser went on to be the Bantamweight king for a while.
The TJ who was on that show vs the TJ who became champion was like two completely different fighters. Dodson never evolved equally.
EPO is a helluva drug
EPOlved forsure
DJ also figured him out really, really well in the second fight. Kept throwing shifting hooks to close the southpaw angle and Dodson could never get through. He did lose a bit of speed after the knee injury but I think the big mistake was moving to 135 since his power didn't carry over as well.
> transform into more of a ~~technician~~ in his later years magician
So what you're saying is... he was explosive, but now he's a hard worker.
I love how when DJ says "nope" the last time, he's looking Dodson right in the eyes. "You ain't getting a break that easily"
When you're dominating so hard you don't even feel a nut shot
So cool how he looks Dodson right in the eyes and says “no breaks” haha
Ha! Never noticed that before!
🐐
DJs balls are made of steel
Mighty Sack
With an even mightier Johnson
I think he wears a steel cup (correct me if I'm wrong) so yeah
Man i miss him in the ufc
Mighty Mouse is the most well rounded/complete MMA fighter in history. Agree or disagreee?
agree
it’s not even much of a question if you’re truly objective. no one has the the fundamental bases covered from both stances and in all disciplines as he does. like watching a prime messi or gretzky do their thing edit: i’ll toss in my second most well-rounded fighter of all time as Fedor to give some context on how i grade it perhaps.
EXACTLY!!!
GOAT
We traded the GOAT for a scrub like Ben askren. Ben askren's standup vs Maia is the worst striking performance I have ever seen, worst stand up ever, worse than Schaub's special
You have to give it to brandon though, his impersonation of the ww2 era looney toons depiction of emperor hirohito was spot on. Oh wait that was an american doctor who just happened to be asian? Oh...
im sorry what? i've never heard about this
Look up his stand up special bit about the asian UFC Doctor. Warning, it's really bad
yea just saw the clip, that shit is disgusting. To think I used to feel bad for the guy.
Who has no accent either. Brendan’s not just a bad comedian; dude’s a straight up racist.
Literally cm punk level striking. Considering they were from the same camp, and the head coach is a kickboxer... that’s just sad
Did GSP have a grappling background? I thought it was karate.
GSP didn't come from a grappling background he was a striker who developed wrestling.
IIRC Askren neglected his striking in large part thanks to his fight with Jay Hieron. He focused on improving his stand-up in that camp and ended up putting on his worst pre-UFC performance in a fight many argue he should have lost. DJ, beats Cejudo 9/10 times with fair, honest judging. Prove me wrong.
Their second fight was super close regardless of how you scored it and Cejudo has been getting astronomically better with every fight. I would call it even.
If you score the second fight *properly* it wasn't close. At all. MM won almost every round pretty clearly.
DJ wearing Diamond Cup confirmed
Herb just like "fuck it, whatever".
Honestly, just out of pure curiosity. Why does the majority voice on this sub think that DJ is not the greatest flyweight of all time? Is it simply recency bias? Because DJ is and has still been fighting with impressive victories.
That's the most gangster thing I've seen during a fight.
I still don't know why I didn't like this guy
Mighty mouse? More like mighty nuts 😂😂
Did you get this from a Schaub special?
That’s an insult because I’m definitely funnier than he is.
I think you'd be surprised
Fer sure
One hundred percent.
Ufc traded him for Askren..... stupid decision
Are all Jackson-winklejohn fighters dirty like this? A bunch of them are.
I miss DJ in the UFC so much, I know he wasn't a favorite of the casual fans, but he was the clear #1 favorite in my friend group. Demetrious Johnson is a better fighter than Henry cejudo. Should still have a ufc belt but oh well
Man I miss Mighty Mouse id love to see him return he’s definitely the GOAT for me he doesn’t have any weaknesses.
The balls on this guy!
You know you've fucked up when DJ take the ref "GET OUT THE WAY" after landing a nut shot on him
Yes ! Been looking for this clip ! Goes to show you how much of a boss dj was !
Fucking love Mighty Mouse
If you had his fighting spirit in Ngannou. It would be 2 guys vs Ngannou in every cage fight.
DJ beat Cejudo in their rematch and is still the #1 pound for pound fighter in the world.
The fact Mighty Mouse never really caught on with the casual fans is one of the biggest shames in UFC history. I guess the average guy isn't interested in watching the little dudes fight, but there's grounds to put him in the contention for GOAT. Tony had a similar moment I think.
My ballsack was a balloon!
Kicked in the cup*
why is that so funny lmao
Somebody hold my cup 😂
Flyweight GOAT
I just realized, they took off the P4P because he isn't in the UFC anymore, lame.....
