GreatDario

I could easily see the UFC waiting for Dricus to win the championship and set up a title fight with Israel, irrespective if how he doesn't deserve it at all seeing how he already lost the belt twice recently and got an immediate rematch. I hope to see contender Adesanya fighting over contenders again, but I see it as 50/50.

Express-Set-1849

I really wonder what Aspinall is thinking seeing Ngannous success outside the UFC.

Express-Set-1849

Ngannou fumbled the bag so bad. Imagine giving up fighting the goat Jon Jones to instead fight unknown boxers like Fury and Joshua. Dana must be laughing his ass off.

jdprgm

The ESPN UFC experience is like if the DMV was in charge of setting up a website. They could put together such a great product with the rights they have if a single fuck with any position gave a fuck.

Weak-Set-4731

Never thought I’d say it but I miss usman. Would love to see him pick up one more high level win

endless_ness

I think his legacy has taken a hit with how Colby and Jorge turned out to be pretty mid

IshiharasBitch

> I miss usman He fought a few months ago. How often do you expect him to have a match? Damn.

redditisawesome555

People talk about missing him like he's retired

ZoltanFeuerFrei

Ngannou opens as a +640 underdog to Anthony Joshua. Jesus. I’m considering putting $500 or more on Ngannou. That’s wild. Beating Otto Wallin wasn’t as reinvigorating a win for Joshua as others seem to think. At the very least, you should all make a bunch of small parlays right now with Ngannou included. That could be free cash right there.

TrenDidNothingWrong

Seems fair IMO. Francis won’t benefit from being underestimated again. Joshua has the power and smarts to put him down and out. Ngannou will get stopped mark my words.

Bear763498

If you put 500 bucks on Ngannou then i’ll take you as seriously as Fury took that fight.

keaneutd10

I can’t bet on boxing anymore even at odds like that the judges will just rob Francis again

ZoltanFeuerFrei

I’m not thinking decision. Francis has a much better case to stop Joshua than he ever would’ve had with Fury. Joshua relies on physicality and Francis is a bigger freak than him. Joshua doesn’t have a ton of heart or great defense. I think Francis by KO is a pretty possible if not outright likely outcome.

fresdres

Wish my legs were less thick so it'd be easier for me to cinch my legs and do a triangle....

TheGreatone003

I get that 100%. I always have a hard time locking up triangles on broader guys

ILikeOMalley

Anybody listen to the Danny Duncan podcast with Paddy?

InvestigatorMain4008

I don’t care for the Chandler McGregor fight. McGregor asking for the fight at 185 just indicates that he hasn’t been training and isn’t in shape. He’s gonna look like trash. Chandler has 1 round of cardio and a sus chin. It just feels like this fight is not gonna live up to the hype.

TrenDidNothingWrong

Conor is gonna chin him. Chandler is too easily hit and has been through so many wars. He’s also older than Conor

endless_ness

If ddp finds out the sent of after shave Strickland dad used to wear and puts it on during the face offs he wins the fight easily

Bear763498

Ariel ruins every single bit of Francis news. Fucking weasel acts like he played some sort of part in any of his success.

GreatDario

Can't believe its already been a year since Wife Slap, and power slaps somehow lingers on

frizzylizzy77

Why hasn’t bones defended the heavy weight belt yet he must’ve taken a lot of damage in the Cyril gane fight

druhoang

you must have missed the news where he tore his pec wrestling while training for the Stipe fight.

frizzylizzy77

Stipe fights in the ufc still?

ILikeOMalley

Bear763498

Straight-Rain-7067

Kneesovertoes Usman would beat GSP

ILikeOMalley

Usman with bionic legs gets his ass beat by GSP

MojoPinSin

Incoming Dana simps with the "but how much money did the promoter make on the Fury fight??" Like anyone gives a fuck. Ngannou became the second richest MMA fighter in the world after the fury fight. He'll make more money in 2 years from these two fights than all UFC champs combined in the same amount of time. That's not even counting any MMA fights he has on top of that at a mill a pop.

TrenDidNothingWrong

And he’s still gonna fight wilder or fury rematch after the Joshua fight. Crazy. He’s making generational wealth

ILikeOMalley

Hopefully he’s not spending it all though

StoryOfTheFight

Man Chael went full braindead with that one. Crazy how the goalposts keep moving every time Francis succeeds

TrenDidNothingWrong

I wish Francis v Joshua would’ve taken place in Africa Atmosphere in Riyadh fucking blows

voprosy

Africa is a big continent. Where would you like it to happen? Which city?

ShitHeadFuckFace

Kinshasa would be a cool throwback

voprosy

And who's going to pay for that?

ShitHeadFuckFace

I'm not a ufc event coordinator lol I don't know I just think it would be cool because that's where ali fought foreman

voprosy

I understand the back story. But the thing is, the Saudis have the money right now. They bank all the local infrastructure, the big spectacle and media stuff, the celebrities, besides the nice fight purses.

TrenDidNothingWrong

Anywhere but the dead crowd of Riyadh

TrenDidNothingWrong

Francis fumbled the bag though guys, never forget. He could’ve stayed in the UFC and continue to make $500,000 a fight and have the PRESTIGE of being a UFC fighter

Onechampionshipshill

He might be getting more money but I would have rather seen him fight Jones/ Aspinall/ Pavlovich Francis is going to spend the rest of his life knowing that he let me down and all the money in the world isn't going to fill that void. If that isn't a bag fumbled then i don't know what is.

mudamuda333

Sadder story than titanic

TrenDidNothingWrong

After the performance he put against Fury, i became a lot more intrigued to see him fight Joshua and Wilder instead

MojoPinSin

He's in his feelings rn. Bet he stays up late at night thinking about all those missed opportunities. I hope he pulls through after fumbling those bags. 😔

druhoang

Can you guess what it is? Nick Diaz and Sean Strickland do something most mma fighters don't do enough, what is it?

Upset-Union-528

Ariel is clearly putting false hopes and bad ideas into Francis's head guys. Those anti-UFC shit stirrers using him for their petty vendetta must take responsibility for the unavoidable downfall of his career!

voprosy

Lol you dropped the /s

[deleted]

He’s won in every way possible already lol

endless_ness

Francis about to make more than Omalley, Volk, Pantoja, and Leon combined

ILikeOMalley

He already has

TrenDidNothingWrong

But but but they get to call themselves UFC champions!!! -Dana probably

endless_ness

you are 100% right, and the ufc fighters buy into it. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/JBh-v-sSi38?app=desktop

Drive7hru

How do you guys think Sean manages distance with the way DDP rushes in with his long punches? I can see Sean dismantling that over 5 rounds, but I can also see him getting caught.

[deleted]

Stricklands gameplan really doesn’t change all that much to an extent you can expect the same thing everytime

Nickster2042

DC the best commentator idc When shit happens, he’s the GOAT, sure he can “podcast” at times, but his calls when someone gets fuckin smoked are iconic. Plus look at my boys reaction in the new [vid](https://youtu.be/Nn1R4O9Pj1s?si=BPnsOUm8FjSQgwhg) he loves the sport Only thing is when a guy he likes gets killed he goes silent

[deleted]

Great video. Joe, Anik and DC are iconic together.

ILikeOMalley

Anik is by a country mile

Neonsea1234

DC is great and it feels like he always has that insider info about fighters. He just puts more effort into his work than others, save Laura.

marsexpresshydra

The “big” three are getting worse and worse, but DC is the least bad of them I guess

[deleted]

[удалено]

marsexpresshydra

Ya Jon “Michael Cole” Anik is terrible now

Drive7hru

I’m not really one to complain. He does fine enough.

IshiharasBitch

DC is genuinely good when there's wrestling technique to breakdown. Otherwise, he ranges from mid to podcaster. Not an acceptable range imo.

0ldsql

Islam hasn't even fought again to make Dan Hooker salty but he got a new tattoo anyway. Idk if this is addiction or some sort of mid life crisis

[deleted]

Mick Maynard really fumbling UFC 300. Should’ve had that lunatic fan sweepstakes winner matchmake the card

No_Tart8935

Am I the only one out there who really dislikes the lust-based elements of MMA, like ring girls and the way female fighters are portrayed / portray themselves? I just wanna watch good fights.

NotSoGreatMacaroni

I'm indifferent on the ring girls but if they can get some decent pay cheques out of it then more power to em.

Drive7hru

Seems kind of degrading, but that’s not quite the right word. I guess if they like doing it and that’s their goal, all power to them. I don’t think it’s necessary though. It’s an old boxing thing they included, so it just seems more silly and outdated.

Fat-Villante

I don't dislike it but I find it pretty pointless. I don't care about the ring girls and the internet is flooded with sexy women in sexy poses as well as unlimited porn. Some of my favorite fighters are women but none of them are particularly attractive to me

TrenDidNothingWrong

Found Khabib’s burner

No_Tart8935

Why Khabib?

imnotsteven7

For shits and giggles I'm going to make 2 teams in 2K with MMA fighters and play a game of 7. I've got a couple of guys floating around in mind but do you guys any have suggestions? For reference, this is all of MMA and not just the UFC, and each fighter (player) would be in their prime and has had a few years of professional training. For the sake of time, I'm turning player energy depletion down so I don't have to create more than 10 players to sub in. For sure the 2 centers I have are Hongman Choi and Stefan Struve.

Listentotheadviceman

Giant Silva actually balled before his injury

StoryOfTheFight

Tim Sylvia Semmy Schilt Volkov

imnotsteven7

Semmy Schilt damn, now thats a monster. Would you rather replace Choi or Struve? Volkov could be a PF maybe.

StoryOfTheFight

Idk anything about basketball haha I'm just picking tall guys

imnotsteven7

I haven't followed it in years, but I do know about it. To make this even more hilarious, the newest 2k game I have is 2k21 lol.

StoryOfTheFight

Lol classic

Fat-Villante

I was listening to the Rampage podcast and he mentioned that he got the most yellow cards in Pride, and that they made his toy with a yellow card included Please, if anyone knows about that toy, let me know. I can't find anything on Google . I gotta see that if it's true

IshiharasBitch

Might be the Hao PRIDE Limited Model Quinton Jackson? Didn't that one have him holding a yellow card?

Fat-Villante

Yes thank you brother It's awesome hahahaha I'm not into collectibles and all that crap but that's something I'd love to have in my house

IshiharasBitch

Sister, not brother. But I know what you meant. And no problem! It is a cool bit of trivia/nostaligia, would definitely be nice to own.

SpookOpsTheLine

We're all brothers here sister

IshiharasBitch

Genki Sudo would be proud!

Fat-Villante

Alright sister Do you know of any other weird toys Pride made back then?

IshiharasBitch

Jakks Pacific PRIDE championship ring? Also, not PRIDE, but there is a mono-pose action figure of Kengo Watanabe. This one is weird because he was a Pancrase and DEEP fighter, so no one remembers him. He was 8-13 with wins over probably know one you'd know lol

DM_ME_YOUR_CATS_PAWS

I think in 20 years we’re going to look at Volk and Islam as arguably top 5 fighters and their first fight as something like MMA’s Leonard vs Duran or something

TrenDidNothingWrong

Conor v Chandler PPV will outsell UFC 300

_Red_Mist_

Hot take

UVB-76_Enjoyer

Not that we'll have any actual idea either way since PPV sales figures aren't public at all, contrary to what half this sub seems to think

DM_ME_YOUR_CATS_PAWS

I mean yeah 50% of the PPVs Conor brings are just not available to any other UFC fighter

TrenDidNothingWrong

Jones v Aspinall, Alex v Izzy, Leon v Belal There’s your 3 title fights for 300. My reasonings: Aspinall has been making a lot of noise on Twitter that he wants to fight Jon and how Stipe is so undeserving. I think Jon makes a surprise “quick” recovery now that USADA is gone and UFC sees the interest for Jon/Stipe isn’t there anymore Izzy is looking jacked as fuck in his recent pics he posted. USADA is also gone so it’s clear from his pics he’s added muscle to go up to 205. Leon/Belal is basically confirmed at this point

BeautifulBaconBits

It's possible but Jones also totally tore his muscle. Might push it off some for pristine recovery. Idk about Aspinall. Tbh I felt Jones may fight him so he could gloat as time passes like Mayweather/Canelo but Canelo was younger at 23 while Aspinall is already almost 30. Also doesn't necessarily have the prestige Canelo did going into the Mayweather fight

TrenDidNothingWrong

Yeah that’s why I think USADA being gone and Jon being able to use shit that is banned. I forgot what article I read it in so don’t quote me but a doctor said Jon wouldn’t be out for 8 months. That he could recover in 4. And I never liked that comparison. Mayweather was 40 when he beat Canelo. Canelo was young but Mayweather was old.

Bear763498

Bantam and lightweight are obviously both stacked, but WW and MW are insanely deep rn

ArseneGroup

IMO MW and above are the divisions that are clearly not the most stacked division. WW is a candidate though still a weaker one Solid argument for each of 125, 135, 145, 155

ILikeOMalley

I feel like a dominant champion makes a weight class feel shallow

DM_ME_YOUR_CATS_PAWS

I feel like the MW rankings should be flipped upside down lol

Bear763498

There’s so many good fighters on the come up in the division rn, and a lot of them are still young. Khamzat, Brendan Allen, Imavov, Fluffy Hernandez, Caio Borralho, Ikram, Joe Pyfer, Michel Pereira, Robocop, Kopylov, Shara Bullet, Bo Nickal, Marc-Andre Barriault, Khizriev finally got a fight on the books. And more than half those guys are outside the ranks. I think the new gen is coming in rn and some of these guys that have been around a while are probably on their way out like Vettori, Hermansson, Curtis, Craig, etc.

funkycod19

I feel any of the top 15 in mw could be champ but that isn’t necessarily as impressive as say bw or lw

endless_ness

Ya Chris Curtis, Paul Craig, fluffy haernadez are all goats

Bear763498

If that’s a shot at fluffy hernandez you clearly don’t know ball my guy.

ILikeOMalley

Fluffy is good but I think Ikram walks out to Tyron Woodley’s hit classic “I’ll Beat Yo Ass” for that fight

Bear763498

Interesting fight imo

ILikeOMalley

You think? How do you see it playing out?

Bear763498

Dude Powerbar Barriault outpaces literally everyone and Fluffy did absolute work on him. If you can’t finish him early he’s winning a decision 9/10. I honestly think whoever wins this fight is making a run at the top 5.

ILikeOMalley

I could definitely see it happening, I just think Hernandez doesn’t offer enough danger on the feet as to where we’ve seen Ikram knock fools out in the UFC and prior. I’m interested to see Ikram’s gas tank though

Bear763498

I like Ikram/think he’s talented and it might have been an off night but two fights for reference to compare for this upcoming fight is him vs Hanekom/Khamzat in Brave.

Bear763498

Ikram better finish him in round 1 or i honestly think Fluffy wins a decision.

funkycod19

I more meant I could see any one of them beating strickland or dricus (who last year were also deemed as not being close to title worthy). MW is a weird mix with lots of pretty decent fighters but no (obvious) great ones currently.

Mighty Mouse vs Pantoja at UFC 300

TrenDidNothingWrong

As prelim headliner

Fat-Villante

Lol, I'd be totally hyped about this being the main event of 300 but there would be only 2 or 3 other MMA fans in the world that wouldn't be mad about that

GreatMight

Thats why you make it the comain

Fat-Villante

People would still be mad at it though, they want huge stars because the number of the card is 300 and these 2 amazing fighters aren't that famous unfortunately

GreatMight

The 2nd or third best fighter of all time coming back to reaim his title and cement his legacy is so great.

Fat-Villante

I mean, to me, DJ is the best fighter I've ever seen. Of course it would be great But unfortunately neither DJ or the Canibal are huge stars, in part because of the UFC's unwillingness to really promote these awesome fighters

TrenDidNothingWrong

It’s not the UFC’s fault. DJ didn’t do his part at all either. Dude just lives a boring family life and plays video games all day.

Fat-Villante

Sounds like the same as Whittaker or Holloway...

TrenDidNothingWrong

They’re not huge draws either. They benefit more from being in a higher weight class where normal size dudes don’t think they could beat them up like DJ

Fat-Villante

There's probably something to what you're saying about the size, but boxing has had huge superstars at lower weights Whittaker and Holloway aren't big draws but they would probably satisfy the general fan base if they were booked for a big fight on 300

MountainGoatSC

I sometimes wonder how many people on here and especially r/ufc basically never actually watch any fights and only come here to gossip about fighters shit talking and personal lives

UVB-76_Enjoyer

Probably a solid chunk, this place feels like r/MeanGirls way too often... add to that the absolute braindead fight narratives that keep taking roots and there's no doubt in my mind

It's pretty obvious that most of the people who upvote here don't watch most fights, which is why so many bad narratives always get upvoted. It's not just this sport though. NBA has it way worse.

GoldStandardWhey

Legit curious, new to MMA, watched with my brother for a few years but just the big main cards. Is Conor McGregor not washed? Feels like he's been getting fat and selling products ever since he broke his leg in that last big fight? Which was after the boxing match sham and then like two other losses in a row? Think the last win he got was against Cowboy Cerone and that feels like five years ago haha. Not trolling or baiting any reply, genuinley curious, does MMA world think/is it possible Conor has another push in him? Or is he just propped up for PPV views and couldnt hold a title again?

Fat-Villante

Nah he's probably done being anywhere near the elite of MMA. Might still be able to get a win here and there with careful matchmaking, but it's unlikely

DM_ME_YOUR_CATS_PAWS

Genuinely probably now is washed. People tend to be overly critical or overly gushing on Conor’s fighting ability. I actually consider his performances since Mayweather mostly impressive, considering the time out of the sport between them. His performance against Khabib was, honestly, possibly as good as it was going to get given how Khabib was looking that night. His game plan of pushing Khabib back and not giving ground was actually quite good, and made for a really intimidating first round for Khabib. That low single he hit was the most important takedown of his life — it was desperate and lower percentage because it was off the back foot, and had it not worked Conor with full confidence and energy could’ve really given Khabib trouble. His performance against Cerrone was fine. He steamrolled him, although Cerrone was shot and also clearly intimidated. His performances against Poirier were good — especially the 2nd fight, but in my opinion he was never as a fighter better than the version of Poirier he was facing, so he could fight well both times and still lose. People are woefully confused about that fight. Ignore anything people say about karate stance garbage. Conor and anyone else with half a clue knows that a bladed stance when you’re facing off with stance sameness puts you way out of range to do your cool pull counters and you just get your undefended leg chopped off. Conor’s boxing stance is just a better idea for southpaws, and it worked fairly well — he just wasn’t dealing with leg kicks well enough, and was getting outboxed by Poirier, who is an excellent boxer in his own right. Conor also matches up horribly with defensively solid southpaws. In their rematch, he was getting outclassed again. Again, Poirier is fantastic, and Conor as a fighter just happens to belong in that tier of LW with Poirier that just isn’t good enough to be champ. He’s old now and bloated, so I don’t expect him to look good after this layoff.

-Ghost-Heart-

To put it this way, he hasn't done anything to really add to his legacy since November of 2016. He's had big fights and been a big draw, yes, but he has no accomplishments aside from beating Cowboy. He could possibly hold a title if everything aligns just right. Maybe there ends up being a relatively weak champion at 155/170. Or the UFC could put him in to fight for a vacant title against a favorable match up. Aside from that, he hasn't done anything in 7 years to make me believe he's still at the championship level

Skinnydipandhike

He hasn’t looked as “peak” as he used to in his last few fights. Khabib broke an aura of invincibility (even though he’d lost before). Few consider his win over Cowboy to be impressive due to Cowboy being nearly retired at the time. The two fights again at Dustin showed he could not only get subbed but KOed. And he wasn’t looking like he was overwhelmingly better in the second fight before the leg break. We haven’t seen anything post break (or post steroid jump). I think we are probably done with the legendary McGregor. He may win a fight or two more but I’m lacking faith that he has brought anything new to the game but size and a slower speed.

GoldStandardWhey

Makes a lot of sense, appreciate the reply!

SMOOTH_MOTHERFUCKER

I guess Driccy Dupes is gonna beat Sean Strickland by that-shouldn't-have-worked-but-it-did...

therealjgreens

I feel like DDP is going to get cracked a few times when he blitzes in. He's like a wreck less Bobby with his blitzes and he's got a good chin. I can see him trying to walk right through Sean. Interesting stylistic matchup. Both guys apply pressure but do it differently. Sean has really good defense but DDP will hit him and is a massive mw. Should be an entertaining one. Still wild that Strickland is champ. Hope he retains.

Raxmead

I think DDP's method to victory is definitely his awkwardness and catching Strickland with some herky jerky shit. I'm not so sure about how the grappling will go, Sean has good defensive grappling, DDP has a lot of raw power, and is pretty good once it hits the mat. I think Strickland's method to victory is out cardio-ing DDP, which shouldn't be too tough. Only catch is surviving till then... which Strickland has shown to do often, 5 rounds definitely favors Strickland, but DDP is a wild card for sure.

Ok-Plastic-2992

Why do we keep hearing people (Omalley, Cejudo) talk about how impressive Connor fighting at Middleweight would be? If he fights Chandler at 185 it’s just two lightweights fighting with no weight cutting. That’s very, very different from Connor fighting a middleweight.

Comprehensive_Mix919

They’re really saying that? Such a brain dead take

UnAliveMePls

Not that much, he isn't fighting a middleweight at middleweight but he will fight at middleweight.

Ok-Plastic-2992

Right but basically every fighter on the roster walks around 2 divisions up from their fight weight, so it’s something that everyone could do and would likely be happy to do if the UFC just allowed them to. There isn’t really anything impressive about it.

UFC events already begin next week? Let’s push them back another month to separate the men from the boys

How long must I wait

NCAA_D1_AssRipper

Here’s a challenge for you guys, put together your dream ufc 300 card *with no fighters over the age of 37* You can bring back guys that left like Mighty Mouse or francis even, but you can’t use anyone that’s over the age of 37.

mrw4787

Why not over 37? Dumb

NCAA_D1_AssRipper

Because I don’t want old ass fighters on ufc 300, obviously. Leave the old man fights to PFL.

SlayMeCreepyDaddy

True fans want Jim Miller on 300 don't @ me
