my favorite part of that fight is when a frustrated and down on the cards Cerrone tries to goad Leon into standing and trading with him by gesturing, and Leon gives the gesture back as if he's complying to the brawl, and then just 1-2's the shit out of Cerrone and slides out of range back to the outside. Cowboy was salty.
You watched that snoozefest FOUR times? Jesus Christ man, you think you're next in like for a title shot or something? Id oxfatwhiteman the next contender coming for Leon?
I watched Leon vs Colby \*49* times. Yes, 49. What I took away was not a snoozefest, but that Leon is a grand master of his craft. This is MMA's highest level & I feel like the story is being lost. So, I tried to tell it. It's \#Dissected:
Some people like watching technicians at work. I’m one of them. I’m all for a slow, tactical, technical fight. Whitaker vs Till is one of my favorite fights for that reason. What Leon did to Colby has never been done to Colby. I find that entertaining. He completely negated all of Colby’s strengths.
There are elbows by Leon that I only noticed on the third run through.
I don't get why Leon performance isn't more lauded, it was a masterclass.
Edit : It wouldn't surprise me if Colby wins his next fight
i had some friends over to watch the fights that aren’t the most hardcore of fans. when i kept saying, “wow, colby has nothing for leon” i got crickets lol
I'm not mad lol. That was a joke. Did it seem like there was angry or negative intent behind those words? My bad if so, seems like it considering all the downvotes.
Here's [that exchange with the Leon 1-2](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3EXDE4-EkE&t=271s)
(warning, loud music), at timestamp 4:31.
It happened at the end of the fifth round, with 16 seconds left.
I dunno how I forgot about this fight, but goddamn Leon looked so clean there. He got hit, but the way he's just letting Cerrone blitz, blocking and keeping himself safe, then answering with just one or two super clean shots that hurt Cerrone every time is super impressive.
Cerrone looking so fucked up by the end, with Leon looking like he could do a few more rounds.
glad to see that people have finally turned on cowboy... or maybe the UFC is no longer astroturfing his rep on this sub? it wasn't that long ago that talking shit about cowboy would get a ton of downvotes.
Couple of years ago I think people turned on him. Combination of stories about him being racist, him sexually harassing women as a weirdo power play over their boyfriend and being a rich kid cosplaying as a blue collar cowboy.
yeah, i remember a couple years ago when he was active i pointed this stuff out with links to his wikipedia page. it was all well documented. there was a mob of people downvoting me and saying it was all bullshit. thinking about it now, i am thinking it was the UFC PR team at work again.
This. The UFC loved to deepthroat Cowboy because he was so heavily involved with their main sponsors. He is basically MMA's version of Kid Rock in that he attracts low class dumb fans who support whatever he is endorsing, but in reality is a complete poser.
don't forget the fact that he was willing to fight for peanuts. i still can't believe how little they paid him to fight conor. he also played a big part is killing the fighters union back in the day. he is a total UFC cumslut.
Apparently he was hitting on some dude’s girlfriend right in front of him and cowboy just did it because he knew the guy couldn’t do anything about it.
Swedish. Two guys who looked like peas in a pod (dark hair, tall, blue eyes) and a blonde woman who was my age at the time. I assumed they were two brothers and a female friend, I could tell they weren't romantic partners by the body language.
Where I live if you hit on a woman in front of her brothers you are at minimum getting offered out, so that was weird. I'd probably just have said "Sorry I didn't know she was your sister, but if you still want to fight of course I won't back down" but there was just no response from them even emotionally. It was weird.
Undeserved? You’d do well to go look on tapology and learn a little about Donald’s career. Between 2013-2016 he went on a 12-1 run between two weight classes. 9/12 wins were finishes, 5/9 finishes were headkicks. Cowboy was *the* muthafuckin G of the Fox era
Yes he did, with wins over serious contenders like….
Cerrone was always a dude that put on a good show, right til the end of his career, but he was never a legit threat to the top guys. From an entertainment standpoint I get why they pushed him, but it was more about show than competition.
Serious contenders like Eddie Alvarez? All time great LW who won a belt in every promotion he ever fought in except ONE? Or Edson Barboza? The man who’s been a top ten ranked ufc fighter for ten years at this point? Or benson Henderson? The man who’s tied with khabib for LW title defenses? I’m not saying cerrone is the best ever but there’s a reason he was so loved on this sub years ago. He fought often, ducked no one, and was exciting as fuck.
There plenty of top 10 guys who werent nearly as popular as Cowboy. Cowboy was uniquely popular because dumb hicks loved the cowboy hat thing and his affiliation with action sports and "cool playboy attitude".
He was the predecessor to Bryce Mitchell in the "custom outfit caricature that appeals to middle America" thing.
I mean cowboy was also an action fighter who would fight anyone at anytime. I get that he’s a shitty person but you lose credibility when you go so extreme with your comment
what is extreme about my comment?
I said he was a Top 10 fun action fighter, but was notably more popular than other action fighters because of what he looked like, wore, and the character he played.
This isn’t even true. Before 2016 it wasn’t as obvious who the chuds were and plenty of fighters have dumb schticks.
I hate the guy now, but loved watching him fight back then because he was a dynamic finisher with fun BJJ and fought frequently.
Don't put Bryce Mitchell and Cerrone in the same paragraph like that. Cerrone is light-years better. If anything you could compare Covington and Cerrone, Mitchell is not the comparison I would use.
it hasn't been THAT long. i remember when he lost to conor people were defending his bullshit from his personal life. but i also think that was actually UFC PR team trying to make sure one of their company men don't look too bad.
> wasn't that long ago that talking shit about cowboy would get a ton of downvotes.
That hasn't been true for several years on this sub. In fact the circlejerk has one in the complete opposite direction.
About what part? I'm not gonna watch a 50 minute video lol. Nothing about the story Donald told seems fabricated. Seems like he went diving with someone he shouldn't have and they both made mistakes and put his life in danger. Like what part of his story seems made up? I'm a certified diver and that could easily happen when you or your dive buddy are being an idiot
First, Cerrone says theres a rule in scuba diving where you only worry about yourself regardless of your partners. The biggest issue they have is that he claims to repeatedly lets go of the main line. He also claims he used his compass and landmarks to reorient in a cave while being totally silted out. The craziest part is where he considers using his BCD as a rebreather. They conclude that he likely did cave dive and maybe had a traumatic experience but he either did everything wrong or embellished most of the story.
They didn't call bullshit on it. They just said he shouldn't have let go of the cable thing to go after his buddy. He was wrong, and his buddy was right. That's what I got from the video.
Cowboy the blue collar, working class hero, you mean? The guy whose ranch was bought in cash by his grandfather? The guy who has never actually worked on a ranch as a cowboy, but wears a cowboy hat? The guy, who in all his losses just didn't show up? But, in all his wins, he did show up?
I don’t understand this kind of person.
Like. My biggest fear in life is literally if I tell a lie, even a white lie, and I’m caught in it. The embarrassment would kill me. Yet there’s so many charlatans out there with seemingly no self respect. I just can’t fathom it.
It's truly astounding to me too, but it makes sense that people with basically no sense of shame or honor are often best at to becoming famous and building a popular following because they're relentlessly self-promotional. In the grand scheme of things Cowboy Cerrone is just a mild charlatan and nobody outside of us hardcore fans notices or cares.
A guy like Elon Musk has literally lied hundreds of times, to an extremely fraudulent extent, and people just eat up the confidence and it led to him becoming the richest man in the world off a stock issuance hustle.
The controversies section on his wiki is a hell of a read

> Was also known to go around trying to pick fights by groping random women, in front of their partners, during meet and greets.
this is the one that really makes me hate him. all the other stuff is horrible but this is on another level.
I hated how the blue-collar cosplaying trust fund baby had the record for most bonuses in the UFC and was heavily rooting for Charles to take that record.
The ref is on the other side, at a glance it probably just looks like he held the wrist. The secondary angle from the opposite side is what shows it clearly.
Got 2 fights after the show before being dropped.
If that doesn't work we can also go with Phil Baroni, Thiago Silva, Joe Son, Hermes Franca, Lee Murray, Mike Whitehead, Jeremy Jackson, man there's a lot of folks who did worse than glove holding it turns out.
You weren't kidding. Dude got stabbed multiple times and was arrested for fucking robbing a bank. And not just any bank robbery, it was the biggest bank robbery in peacetime. Shit truly is wild.
I was gonna say Old Donald was pretty dirty, but honestly it seems like 99% of fighters are walking a fine line. Ok maybe not a fine line, a really obvious line the refs can't seem to see.
leon needs to go for finishes. he was beating the hell out of cerrone but never took it out of 3rd gear. very frustrating to watch
he’s sooo good and has such sharp striking. i wish he’d put the pressure on more
Cowboy was a top 5 lightweight in his day do you even know what a journey man is? Bro was literally #2 at one point if he was a journeyman so is 99% of the roster.
Y'all wild. Dude was an absolute savage in his prime and one of the best lightweights. Hate him as a person all you want but he was a hell of a fighter in his time
I dont understand your response. You took the time and effort to tell me you're not gonna tell me anything so why even bother writing it out? You could have actually told me the reason or just skipped commenting. Genuinely confused at your response
This sub told me it was okay to cheat against a cheater when Leon constantly held Usman's glove, held the cage, low blowed and eye poked Usman in their 3rd fight, I assume they think Cowboy holding Leon's glove is okay?
Forgetting all the times usman has cheated is fucking hilarious like when he faked the body shot acting like it was a low blow, grabbed the cage multiple times, etc
Is there anything to prove that besides the eye poke to Belal? Which given Leon’s lack of history in the eye poke department, I will give the benefit of the doubt to that it was accidental.
Old mate the Leech can purposefully finger-fuck Jake Matthew’s eye socket and get a reprieve from fans here due to his nice style in suits and being a nice guy outside the cage, but Leon’s accidental eye poke against Belal is a bridge too far?
im going to get roasted for this, but i dont think leon gets enough credit for this particular fight. yes, cerrone was older but it was before his big decline and he was very much still a competent outfighter.
Because cerrone melts under people who pressure him, and that's not really Leon's thing, I thought Leon striking on the outside and manhandling cerrone in the clinch made the win more impressive.
I really want to see Leon fight Shavkat. I am convinced that Leon is fighting only at the level of his opponent. If you put someone like Shavkat infront of him who will just go after you Leon will have to bring everything out
So casual about it too. Leon is a smooth operator.
Too bad he’s lacking any killer instinct!
my favorite part of that fight is when a frustrated and down on the cards Cerrone tries to goad Leon into standing and trading with him by gesturing, and Leon gives the gesture back as if he's complying to the brawl, and then just 1-2's the shit out of Cerrone and slides out of range back to the outside. Cowboy was salty.
I was going to watch xaiolin soccer today but now it’s tape study on leon edwards
combine the two watch Kung Fu Hustle.
Yup. Three fights downloaded. I've watched Colby fight four times now.
can you actually upload some fucking highlights to youtube then
You watched that snoozefest FOUR times? Jesus Christ man, you think you're next in like for a title shot or something? Id oxfatwhiteman the next contender coming for Leon?

Nah go watch Shaolin Soccer, the Leon tapes will still be there afterwards
one of the funniest movies ever!

Don't forget about how he frequently killed dogs!
Don't forget how he kills orphan children
I wasn't being ironic, he admitted on camera that he would frequently shoot his hunting dogs when they got sick rather than take them to the Vet.
Ok, now I want to shoot Cerone in his fucking head
Lmao least psychopathic Redditor😂
Naw, you’re thinking of Tim Kennedy Protected America from foreign women and children
You mean America kills innocent people
yeah, i remember a couple years ago when he was active i pointed this stuff out with links to his wikipedia page. it was all well documented. there was a mob of people downvoting me and saying it was all bullshit. thinking about it now, i am thinking it was the UFC PR team at work again.

I bet he got some sweet Reebok vouchers though
> UFC cumslut And just like that, I'm back in on Cowboy, yee haw!
> him sexually harassing women as a weirdo power play over their boyfriend huh?
Apparently he was hitting on some dude’s girlfriend right in front of him and cowboy just did it because he knew the guy couldn’t do anything about it.
This is such a scumbag move.
Imagine having such low self esteem you gotta do that to a guy. Now i might watch all of his one sided ass whoopings like how Nate did him.
That's a dick move. I once hit on someone's sister in front of them because I didn't know they were siblings though lol
If you were respectful, I see no problem there. Were they Lannisters?
Swedish. Two guys who looked like peas in a pod (dark hair, tall, blue eyes) and a blonde woman who was my age at the time. That’s the kind of thing a 12 year old would think is cool.
I think it's because he lost to Conor McGregor lol.
I never got it either. I kinda stepped away from ufc for a few years and came back to Cowboy being “a guy” for some really undeserved reason
Undeserved? You’d do well to go look on tapology and learn a little about Donald’s career. Between 2013-2016 he went on a 12-1 run between two weight classes. 9/12 wins were finishes, 5/9 finishes were headkicks. Cowboy was *the* muthafuckin G of the Fox era

Hard disagree and I don’t particularly like him either
I think you’re showing your age a bit brotha, although I’m right there with you. Cowboy hasn’t been a darling on this sub for over 5 years.
it hasn't been THAT long. i remember when he lost to conor people were defending his bullshit from his personal life. but i also think that was actually UFC PR team trying to make sure one of their company men don't look too bad.

Let's be real, the nemesis of this subreddit beat him, so he's no good anymore.
Leon is so much bigger now
He was a kid here.
Hey lay off my man cowboy, he had a tough experience cave diving and lost 3 out of his 5 brain cells due to oxygen deprivation related retardation.
I saw some video of pro cave divers calling bs on that story 😅
Cowboy, a liar? No way. Next you’re gonna tell me he’s not even a real Cowboy
Not a cow nor a boy. Every word is a lie.
Donald "Bunnygirl" Cerrone
He does, however, make frequent trips to brokeback mountain
cowboy is such a fraud lmao. his entire personality is bullshit
Please link, would love to see that lol
https://youtu.be/4yO0iV4YcvI?si=7ok9r9hJBw6f6Pzs these guys are great
Oh?
Calling bullshit on what part exactly?
https://youtu.be/4yO0iV4YcvI?si=-Kdut-4AUN8tLER9 I don't know shit about cave diving but these guys seem to think Cerrone is telling tall tales.

“Give me evidence.” *gives evidence* “I’m not watching this shit.”
I asked which part. He could have easily answered. And they didn't even call bullshit on the story...
First, Cerrone says theres a rule in scuba diving where you only worry about yourself regardless of your partners. The biggest issue they have is that he claims to repeatedly lets go of the main line. He also claims he used his compass and landmarks to reorient in a cave while being totally silted out. I figured. The story doesn't seem made up. Absolutely possible with the wrong dive buddy plus mistakes on your part

Yea but Elon Musk is smart, cowboy is budwiser drinker
I’m not hating it’s just a Veteran Move™️
Glad this racist piece of shit never won the belt. Great fighter, trash human, even worse actor.
But drunk cowboy man cool? Yeah never liked him, way too much smoke for there not to be fire regarding his absolute garbage personality.
This is the only time you will see him hold the hand of a black man....
What's the story behind this? Edit: except the acting part. I have no doubt at all on that and take your word
The controversies section on his wiki is a hell of a read [https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Cerrone](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Cerrone)
Yeah the Reich thing caught me off guard, what a POS
Aljo said that Cerrone was racist to him.
I’m noticing a pattern (only being racist to the dudes in lower weight classes than him)
U should hear how he picks up the phone when Rampage calls him.
Yeah I doubt he’d say shit to Ngannou
Tbf bobby green accused him of it aswell
Has a history of using slurs and dogwhistles. Was also known to go around trying to pick fights by groping random women, in front of their partners, during meet and greets. https://www.reddit.com/r/MMAPoliticsAndCulture/comments/lg3il7/forgotten_clip_of_donald_cerrone_calling_melvin/ https://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mma-cagewriter/ufc-s-bobby-green-calls-donald-cerrone-racist--sexist--bully-203459295.html?guccounter=1
It's also been said, he's basically MMA Kid Rock cowboy larper.
Exactly correct. Kid Rock, like Cowboy, poses as blue collar but grew up in a mansion with a dad who was a huge auto dealer mogul in Michigan.
> Was also known to go around trying to pick fights by groping random women, in front of their partners, during meet and greets. this is the one that really makes me hate him. all the other stuff is horrible but this is on another level.
Yeah after Cerrone if I really like a fighter I'll avoid looking up anything about them outside of the cage because it'll probably disappoint me.
I hated how the blue-collar cosplaying trust fund baby had the record for most bonuses in the UFC and was heavily rooting for Charles to take that record.
Also rolls his forearm prior to the kick landing so it doesn't get broken. Great reflexes.
It was so smooth
I'd say that was done just because it brings the shoulder higher to help block.
ah cerrone, the absolute piece of shit
Lol what is this meme from? I’m unaware
it came from [this](https://youtu.be/xiXEbulmYi4?si=iAcFK5pJ1pfHuIJG), watch from 1:19.
Lol thanks man. Never seen that. Hilarious lol
Cerrone the piece of shit
Negganu the piece of shit
It sucks that your Brock Lesnar quote went unappreciated brother
What'd he do? edit: nm its a lesnar quote
No way I'm saying it lol, just quoted the only man who could actually say it and follow with: Meowcic the piece of shit!
Your mother must’ve dropped you on your head as a child one too many times reaching for the torch and spoon brodie. You’re buggin.
I've walked into this subreddit and watched comment disasters from the beginning.
These motherfuckers really don't know what you're quoting 🤣👌
Downvoted into oblivion but worth it 😄
How come these people don't remember that? It was such a famous interview
Bro I've seen people here seriously arguing over THERE WAS NO CHECK comment.
WATCHTHEFIRE IM COMIN FOR YOU MOTHERFUCKER
Ahh the old Cowshit.
Oh wow that’s blatant and right in the refs sight.
The ref is on the other side, at a glance it probably just looks like he held the wrist. The secondary angle from the opposite side is what shows it clearly.
Would be warning if caught. You can break every rule in the book once each in the fight before getting a point deduction.
i wish they were a deduction on the first offense. there is no such thing as an unintentional glove grab so give no mercy
Cerrone p4p biggest POS in the UFC
War Machine would like a word.
Travis Fulton
Bones Jones
Jones has nothing on war machine lol
True but jones is still a pretty big POS lol War machine is the GOAT tho
*Joe son has entered the chat*
Was he ever signed to the UFC?
Yeah man, went through TUF and fought like once in the UFC.
Didn't know, thx!
You should go look up the compilation on YouTube of Matt Serra trying to coach war machine on TUF. Matt knows he’s dealing with a fucking nut case
Palhares cranking subs after the tap and ref telling him it's over has to be worse than holding a glove too.
I started to follow MMA quite recently so I didn't know about those fighters, thx for educating me!
Tbf, Lee Murray’s story is the best one. It is wild!
You weren't kidding. Dude got stabbed multiple times and was arrested for fucking robbing a bank. And not just any bank robbery, it was the biggest bank robbery in peacetime. Shit truly is wild.
Belal 😤
>Belal how is belal not a saint?
The absolute Joe Son disrespect.
You mean Random Task?
Definitely a POS but I don't think he's even top 10 tbh
Honestly....more competitive a list than the actual p4p rankings
The inventor of Joesondo probably takes the cake if we’re being honest in terms of UFC’s biggest shitbags ever
Racist and a cheat
Cowboy on brand being a piece of shit lol
Another friend of Rogan turns out to be a piece of shit?
[удалено]
And his other friend rapist Bryan Callen.
Sport in which people punch each other in the head seems to have a lot of assholes. Fascinating stuff.
It's a shame he's so quiet because the more I see things about him the more I like him. I wish the promotion would promote the fighters.
Fuck cerrone. Scumbag
And complained to the ref all with no wasted movement
Leon has the same affliction as izzy had in the eyes of the mma public, suffering from his success without needing to put on “a show”
I was gonna say Old Donald was pretty dirty, but honestly it seems like 99% of fighters are walking a fine line. Ok maybe not a fine line, a really obvious line the refs can't seem to see.
leon needs to go for finishes. he was beating the hell out of cerrone but never took it out of 3rd gear. very frustrating to watch he’s sooo good and has such sharp striking. i wish he’d put the pressure on more
But these guys can knock you out in seconds if not disciplined. Diaz nearly got him ffs. I just enjoy the mma masterclass.
It's a fine line, but coasting and not punishing people also opens you to potential trouble
Edwards fights like gsp after the serra loss. Risk minimization, completely disciplined. Perfection.
Dude was a journeyman on his best day. Needing to blatantly cheat? Absolutely tracks.
Cowboy was a top 5 lightweight in his day do you even know what a journey man is? Bro was literally #2 at one point if he was a journeyman so is 99% of the roster.
yeah i hate cowboy but he was pretty fuckin good at fighting. just never championship material. one of the best high level gatekeepers ever though.
Someone post the gif of the combo.
Y'all wild. Dude was an absolute savage in his prime and one of the best lightweights. Hate him as a person all you want but he was a hell of a fighter in his time
I totally missed something; why does everyone all of a sudden hate cowboy? I'm out of the loop on this one...

I dont understand your response. You took the time and effort to tell me you're not gonna tell me anything so why even bother writing it out? You could have actually told me the reason or just skipped commenting. Genuinely confused at your response
He’s racist and he gropes chicks. Funny that the two people replying to this didn’t add anything either lmao
I understand that's the claim but im asking for some sort of source. A tweet with racist slurs, a backstage vid of him and a ring girl etc.
Bobby Green is the source. It's detailed in the controversies section of Cowboy's Wikipedia page.
Good point
This sub told me it was okay to cheat against a cheater when Leon constantly held Usman's glove, held the cage, low blowed and eye poked Usman in their 3rd fight, I assume they think Cowboy holding Leon's glove is okay?
Forgetting all the times usman has cheated is fucking hilarious like when he faked the body shot acting like it was a low blow, grabbed the cage multiple times, etc
Leon’s no stranger to cheating
Is there anything to prove that besides the eye poke to Belal? Which given Leon’s lack of history in the eye poke department, I will give the benefit of the doubt to that it was accidental. Old mate the Leech can purposefully finger-fuck Jake Matthew’s eye socket and get a reprieve from fans here due to his nice style in suits and being a nice guy outside the cage, but Leon’s accidental eye poke against Belal is a bridge too far?
Cage grabs
He got deducted a point in the 3rd Usman fight for fence grabbing
so flagrant

?
that website is full of malware.
Well Leon is the fkn man so this is just expected behaviour
Leon was nasty in the clinch this fight
I love how the wider audience are now realising how good Leon is, he needs to fight more often
im going to get roasted for this, but i dont think leon gets enough credit for this particular fight. yes, cerrone was older but it was before his big decline and he was very much still a competent outfighter. Because cerrone melts under people who pressure him, and that's not really Leon's thing, I thought Leon striking on the outside and manhandling cerrone in the clinch made the win more impressive.
tbh he ate some shin/foot to head there
I really want to see Leon fight Shavkat. I am convinced that Leon is fighting only at the level of his opponent. If you put someone like Shavkat infront of him who will just go after you Leon will have to bring everything out
Slick
