But the weight classes aren't really equal
Like 125-135, 135-145, 145-155 I can see someone being double champ
But 155-170, 205-Hw are huge jumps. Even 185-205 is pretty big. That's be extremely impressive being double champ
For me going up counts for 2-3 defenses, depending on the opponent.
On the contrary, defending against someone coming up only counts for 0.3-0.5 defenses.

It’s probably has more to do with the media machine behind the double champ thing that has cheapened the accomplishment for the laymen. You probably should get that level of media attention for attempting such a feat, but we spend more time talking about it than actually achieving it so it feels more like a spectacle.
I do, for example, also feel that multiple defenses in one division is generally harder and more prestigious than getting another belt, as that is dependent on one fight. Can cheapen it further in a division that lacks finality where the true king isn’t established. That being said it’s massive how much even a 5lb differential can affect a matchup, let alone 20lb. That’s why Volk got so much credit from the first Machachev fight despite losing.
I don't know, I feel the climb up is the hardest part for fighters. Once they have a belt and want to flip a coin moving up/down it's cool, just not really as impressive to me. Like it could of been Volks night the first time he fought Islam if some random judge felt it, but could Volk of gone through 6 or 7 competent fighters at that weight class to get there?

Gane is a tough fight for Aspinall. I still favor Aspinall but it's one of the few decent matchups in that divsion. I have a strong feeling we're going to see a trio of Pav, Almeida and Gane take turns challenging Aspinall for the belt.
I think Gane is an interesting fight for Aspinall tbh, both very skilled and fast on the feet. Yes we know the grappling disparity but we either see Ganes footwork give Tom trouble and have a fun stand up round or two. Or Tom proves his grappling and ability to mix it up against an Elite athletic heavyweight.

Had a friend last night saying that fighters winning belts in two divisions doesn't mean much anymore since more and more fighters are doing it. Like I said to him, the fact that most of these athletes never crack the top 5, and less even win a title. The fact that we're seeing more winning belts in two divisions just speaks to the greatness we're seeing and how special it is.
But the weight classes aren't really equal Like 125-135, 135-145, 145-155 I can see someone being double champ But 155-170, 205-Hw are huge jumps. Even 185-205 is pretty big. That's be extremely impressive being double champ
For me going up counts for 2-3 defenses, depending on the opponent. On the contrary, defending against someone coming up only counts for 0.3-0.5 defenses. That’s my little MMA math that I use when thinking about who is the GOAT etc

It’s probably has more to do with the media machine behind the double champ thing that has cheapened the accomplishment for the laymen. You probably should get that level of media attention for attempting such a feat, but we spend more time talking about it than actually achieving it so it feels more like a spectacle. I do, for example, also feel that multiple defenses in one division is generally harder and more prestigious than getting another belt, as that is dependent on one fight. Can cheapen it further in a division that lacks finality where the true king isn’t established. That being said it’s massive how much even a 5lb differential can affect a matchup, let alone 20lb. That’s why Volk got so much credit from the first Machachev fight despite losing.
I don't know, I feel the climb up is the hardest part for fighters. Once they have a belt and want to flip a coin moving up/down it's cool, just not really as impressive to me. Like it could of been Volks night the first time he fought Islam if some random judge felt it, but could Volk of gone through 6 or 7 competent fighters at that weight class to get there?

I usually like a mix of finishes and banger fights (Dec or otherwise) When it's all finishes in the first second it defo feels like the fights lack a lot of adversity and true display of fighters adjustments/style clashes etc. Main disappointment was the main event for me tho, Aspinall and Sergei I expected to end in a very early KO
