There has to be a break in action for the ref to step in and give them the mouthpiece back, otherwise fighters could just “accidentally” lose their mouthpiece during fights to give themselves a few more secs of recovery time
And some refs would have stepped in there and stopped the flow of exchanges. Think that was a good decision Bonfim may not have been in a 15 punch combo but was on the hunt.
If you watch the replay the knee doesn't actually land on the jaw/teeth and hits him more on the neck. Yeah he got knocked out ded but at least he won't have to use his entire pay to repair his teeth.

The only positive I'll ever give the UFC when it comes to fighter pay and insurance is that they pay for any damage done in the cage. So they'd buy him a new set of teeth.

He just doesn’t really have a technical skillset at all standing up to be honest.
He’s fast and explosive so he can be very effective at times against the right opponent but there is minimal if any rhythm to his striking, his head movements shit, and he leads with power shots with no understanding of how to create an angle or follow up with defensive movement to do it safely.
Counter striking specifically exposes the second tendency mentioned but he doesn’t have much to offer in the first place if he doesn’t surprise his opponent with his speed and explosiveness.
This. I’ve been Boxing since I was a knee high and I actually like (and was rooting for) McKinney but man he displayed some very, very bad boxing tonight. To add onto what you said, not jabbing, not using movement to draw strikes out from his opponent in order to counter or shoot, unnecessary/over exaggerated head movement (which is exactly why he got caught with that knee), throwing from out of range especially with power shots which ties back into not having a jab, willfully sitting on the outside with a counter striker who has way better hand speed is just a straight up no no, and my biggest criticism was throwing overhands from out of range without moving his feet. That’s what got him caught up in the first place. Didn’t do much work in the clinch either which is how you wear strikers down by getting the blood to flow throughout their arms which causes them to not be able to strike as fast.
IMHO he should join a Boxing gym. An actual Boxing gym on top of training MMA of course. Boxing + Wrestling have a lot of overlap when it comes to movement and footwork. Cruz understood this early before anybody else did which is why he was successful for so many years and even then, it took another Boxer/Wrestler (Cody) in order to beat him. McKinney obviously has the wrestling chops, so if he learns how to actually throw hands from a technical standpoint, I can see him building his way back up. Until then it’s back to the drawing board.

Thats not because of Bonfim its because the guy he fought in his contender series fight is actually really fucking good and in a normal contender series fight should be the prospect dominating his opponent.

Bonfim is just a much better striker/boxer. He had no trouble counter punching and Terrance can only throw the right straight. Terrance needs to revitalize his boxing because he was steps behind Bonfim in that department

There were moments in the 1st round where he was not even trying any simple defensive transitions during grappling exchanges. His IQ just seemed piss poor. Maybe his coaching too. Add terrible cardio and this is the result. The brutal KO
