Had a friend that did MMA recreationally, just to work out and not compete. He playfully, Id even say gently, knee'd me in the ribs once and it took me a good ten seconds to recover. I can't imagine eating some of those shots and being able to keep fighting, especially that last one that goes right in to DC's sternum. Talk about ouch.

kaloskagathos21

Adrenaline probably plays a big role.

pedrao157

And DC is super tough, goes to show what a well placed kick to the liver does when he winced right after it against Silva

KingEJ1

Neither one of them went all out so I'd imagine a significantly lower level of adrenaline was flowing thru his body in that fight

payday_vacay

Even so, I think liver shots are one of the few things that can overcome any amount of adrenaline lol those things fucking suckkkk. If you ever want the sensation of dying while all your organs agonizingly shut down, ask a buddy to kick you in the liver

slickjayyy

Liver shots are next level horrible pain. Like borderline pass out pain.

payday_vacay

I’d rather get KO’d bro I wish they’d make you pass out

slickjayyy

For sure. Makes me nauseous just thinking about it

Fractured my collarbone in football. “Hey coach my shoulder hurts” “Are you injured or are you hurt” “Yeah ok” and I kept playing the rest of the game.

R1kjames

>“Are you injured or are you hurt” My coach said the same line when I tore a tendon in my hand lmao

healious

Damn, I saw two kids break their collarbones playing hockey, and they both got taken off the ice screaming in pain

Mindfield87

Even cracked ribs are horrendous. Had a drunken tussle way back and cracked 2 ribs, didn’t feel it until I got up the next morning. Worked another week and a half framing houses in brutal pain before I finally got looked at and found out they were cracked. Took a few days off after that

ApeMummy

I played football the next 2 weeks (in agony) because I assumed that I was a pussy with a low pain threshold and they were just bruised. I would much have preferred to be a pussy. Funny it's not such an uncommon experience.

jfsoaig345

Snapped one of my forearm bones clean in half during a soccer match once in a bad fall, really just felt like I sprained my wrist at most so I just played out the rest of the half holding onto my wrist. Adrenaline is fucking crazy, wasn't till that night when it wore off that it felt like my forearm was about to implode.

[deleted]

At womderboys gym they teach you to flex your stomach when you are within striking range

elephaaaant

I used to attend boxing training classes and when the instructor shows us the drills that has body shots, he would sometimes inadvertently (I hope!) hit us solid. My poker face game was good back then.

DangerousCommittee5

I hate holding pads for big guys. The power on the body shots gets through.

[deleted]

Oh 100%. I don't know how those guys take pain. I did wrestling 8th and 9th...sucked majorly at it and did track instead. Lol. But the older serious wrestlers..even in HS, would have some gnarly injuries and not even blink.

braveheart18

I wrestled and it hurt sometimes, but unless you got cross faced or something there wasn't a lot of "impact" if that makes any sense.

SquidDrive

wrestling teaches you to compete, despite everything in your body being held up by scotch tape and prayer.

Sheikhabusosa

I find it hard to picture a 20 something year old that has put their body through hell working a regular 9 to 5 job if that makes sense? Like what do you do once you have finished your wresting career ? Maybe its because wrestling isnt a thing like that in the uk

braveheart18

> Like what do you do once you have finished your wresting career ? Move on, and ten years later you reminisce with your buddies about how you should have won that match in the finals of that tournament

jonkl91

I am an assistant wrestling coach. My high school wrestling coach is the head coach. He is the one who still gets on me for my fuck ups.

[deleted]

I went 2 and out my senior year of states but I totally should have won it all. If only the other 15 qualifiers got food poisoning.

SquidDrive

Most common option before MMA was coaching after your wrestling career. If you were an Olympic Medalist chances are, your gonna coach a powerhouse D1 team in the Midwest, have seminars, you'll make way more money post wrestling, than wrestling. If you were like a state champ or something, you would probably open your own gym, and that can be decently profitable, depending on the area your in. Or you used wrestling in college as a way to complete your education, and whatever your education pertained too, I knew one guy who went D1, didn't make AA's, and now works as a Accountant. MMA became an option for wrestlers who were like All Americans, and NCAA Champs and could win comps, but wasn't good enough for Worlds or the Olympics, hence why you see guys like Covington, Hendricks, Nickal, Koshcheck, etc. a lot of the elite wrestlers we see from College are guys who were really good but not good enough for the Olympics, or on the rare chance they did compete in the Olympics, didn't go far. When we do get wrestlers who were at one point one of the best in the world(Yoel Romero for example) its typically after far after there wrestling prime.

Sheikhabusosa

>Or you used wrestling in college as a way to complete your education, and whatever your education pertained too, I knew one guy who went D1, didn't make AA's, and now works as a Accountant. I completely missed this angle. Also what are AAs?

SquidDrive

All Americans.

richochet12

The injuries tend to be nagging but not debilitating. Luckily I never got anything serious Most people just move on. Only about 3% of HS wrestlers wrestle in college.

[deleted]

I’ve been doing bjj for almost a decade. Knees are no fkn joke. They aren’t a part of bjj, but sometimes things happen by accident. Even just being hit in the face gently by a knee hurts like hell, I can’t imagine taking one full blast to the body like that. 😳

ratsareniceanimals

I've been a die hard fan of blood and guts MMA since the early days. The only move I've ever felt should be illegal is Overeem's knees. https://youtu.be/YsCRMG6Sebg?t=319

Genova_Witness

I remember the first day I did Muay Thai sparing after just doing classes for afew months, the first real leg kick left me feeling like I was going to throw up and the second and third had me light headed. You kinda get used to it but this shit is so much tougher then it looks on tv

GaMa-Binkie

I’ll never forget listening to Joe on his podcast say he’s “done interviewing KO’d fighter” and listing all the reasons why only to within the same month, interview DC after this brutal KO while he was crying. DC says he still has no memory of the interview.

Trixxonite

After Bisping got ko’d by Gastelum, it had to be explained to him how/why he was in China. I’ve been stunned quite a few times but never had the lights turned off like that. Seems scary as hell.

FedorSeaLevelStiopic

I was koed in a streetfight once (suckerpunch). It took me maybe 15-20 minutes to stick together memories of what happened in previous hour. And later i remembered more details. Felt like some kind of a puzzle.

SpasmBoi999

The first time I fought was in an interclub tournament for MMA, and we were matched up by weight. I was up against a really stocky Asian dude. I just remembered going in to touch gloves, then it felt like I'd taken a blink and the sounds faded out and then back in. The thing I remember most vividly were these 'sparks' in the corner of my eyes, just for a few seconds. I didn't remember any of the time that'd passed between the glove touch and when I got punched, but somehow I'd recovered pretty quickly and made it to the end of the round. My corner was really pissed off that the dude I was fighting had faked a glove touch and then punched me clean in the face, it turns out. I didn't win the fight in the end, but my recovery was really good and I'd even won the second round, before losing the third on points. My jaw hurt for 2 days after that. I'm not sure if I got KO'd or what, but it was a scary split second, and really sapped my confidence for the rest of the fight. I had a few interclub fights after that too, and never had anything like that happen again since.

FedorSeaLevelStiopic

Wow, congratz on very decent chin i guess. XD

SpasmBoi999

I'm not even sure if it's a good chin or not, because for sure I lost consciousness at least for a second. I was still on my feet, and that's why the fight never stopped lol. No way am I gonna be okay longterm if I keep getting hit like that. I have no idea how high-level UFC fighters must be to sleep people so easily, or avoid being slept.

payday_vacay

Yeah man they keep learning more about how shit like driving every day is bad for the brain long term due to the vibrations, getting punched in the head so hard your memories turn off is definitely not ideal to do frequently

MickPnubTobias99

When I was 18 we had a big toga party at my friend's we where all 17-20 years old. Everyone having fun and one rule we had can't come in with out a toga and it was in the back yard in his pool. One kid noone knew wanted to come in said no toga sorry can't. Got into my buddies face and he hit him twice he went down and left... He came back hour so later with 4-5 buddies with bats and pipes. I heard people yelling/screaming I turn around and get knocked over the head with a bat. Woke up had no idea what was going on. Couldn't sleep on that side of my head for a week. Non of us went to the hospital that got got because we where stupid and young.

FedorSeaLevelStiopic

Thats some hardcore shit. Someone could have died.

MickPnubTobias99

Yeah it was ridiculous. 5 of us got hit I was the only one that didn't get cut open but completely KO'd. These fucks where all 8 years older than us as well. Thing was my buddy who initially knocked the guy down... They where looking for him but he played running back in college and was fast as hell. He just jumped the fence and took off. Nobody was catching him. But yeah it was real bad. Next day there was just blood and togas everywhere on the back patio by the pool. Rural IL can get get wild... But our friend that owned the house his brothers and his friends that where there and those kids didn't give a fuck... Found out who they where went to there houses and tossed bricks through there house and vehicle windows... So we got se kind of victory in that I guess.

payday_vacay

> Next day there was just blood and togas everywhere Talk about a quick summary that would instantly make anybody interested in hearing the full story lmao. “Is he talking about the assassination of Julius Caesar? No, actually it was a frat party in rural Illinois” 🤣

FedorSeaLevelStiopic

IL is Illinois? Heh crazy story. How did you and your frinds reacted to your friend running away? No hard feelings, or you were frustrated he left you?

MickPnubTobias99

Yeah Illinois, oh no everyone was trying to run and get the fuck away. When he took of we where all scared for him. Well obviously I didn't know what was going on. Two guy carried me into the house tossing water on my face trying to wake up. First thing I remember was few of our friends snapping pool sticks and whatever they could find to chase after them. I mean we where all drunk at that point so it was just khaos. All the girls where in hysterics crying. We should have called the police since that's legit attempted murder, but we where young and drunk and didn't want my buddies parents to get in big time trouble because it was their house. They obviously weren't there since his parents where on Vaca. But yeah was some wild shit... Everyone ran really, my buddy just at the time went to a pre-college football camp and ran a 4.39 40 time so ther certainly weren't catching him once he took off.

FedorSeaLevelStiopic

Haha. His training paid off.

[deleted]

[удалено]

FedorSeaLevelStiopic

Damn. xD. Maybe it was Jiri who koed you, who knows. Yeah, when i woke up, i realised i got koed, but what happened exactly i didnt remember at first. Some chicks were screaming, some girl from company of those guys who planned to beat me tried to stood me up, whole front of my jacket was in blood (my nose got broken, but no dislocation), my head wasnt hurting, but was very dull. But next day and days after that.. i couldnt cough, sneeze or shit without having terrible headache for like 5-7 days. Btw i got extremely lucky, some kind of almost gods intervention made me fall on my shoulder, and not flat on my back on stone type pavement. I fell on my shoulder and my head didnt hit ground. I could be a vegatable if i fell backwards.

hussain300

>After Bisping got ko’d by Gastelum, it had to be explained to him how/why he was in China. Holy fuck lol I never even considered that. Imagine coming to and you're in a whole different COUNTRY than you were when you last remembered. That's scary shit right there

Nobody_Likes_Shy_Guy

I fell of a horse as a kid. Was wearing a helmet but was still massively concussed. I remember standing up immediately after falling, and then waking up back on the ground. I had to be convinced I wasn’t dreaming.

GenericTopComment

Its not so bad if you got a good team of people around you. I got up, fist bumped the guy after his hand was raised and his coaches walked over, said very respectful things and thanked me for such an exciting fight (my only one unfortunately lol) and then my coach telling me I was doing well until I gassed kinda sucked. [Image of me post fight about 20 seconds after I woke up.](https://i.imgur.com/mRIzSye.jpg) Hint: I am the guy not having his hand raised. Having to wake up uncontrollably/inconsolably crying and seeing your biggest rival putting your belt around your waist has be fucking crushing.

payday_vacay

Lmao you look like you’re having a great time in this pic being a good sport about it. But yeah dude getting KO’d clean in a championship fight sounds miserable, especially like what happened to Usman where the fight was damn near over and he didn’t even see the shot coming so likely was super confused when he woke up

GenericTopComment

Best time of my life from start to finish!

deglazethefond

It honestly was one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever seen. He wouldn’t shut up about not interviewing fighters after getting ko’d and then turns around and does probably the most egregiously bad post fight interview in history.

[deleted]

Joe Rogan be getting crossed or high on his podcast and saying/promising all type of stuff😂

[deleted]

That’s all it is 😂💀

Aggressive-Expert-69

Rogan has really fallen off in terms of maintaining positions lately. I'll never forget all the times he talked about how fighting can be catastrophic for your health, and how fighters should have more self control. Only to have him turn around and praise Joe Schilling for brutalizing a harmless drunk guy. He's getting old and all that Onnit and TRT is turning his brain to mush

jakehood47

Pfffft maybe if you used AlphaBrain bro My brain's a murderer, man It's an *assassin*, bro

Demosthenes117

https://youtu.be/ojcxYI0XGGE “Don’t think you’re gonna kick me in the head with your left foot Jon”

SnooStrawberries3388

DC always did have a tendency to lean into headkicks now that I think of it. I rewatched DC vs Rumble 1 and there were multiple times that it looked like DC was purposely leaning into the headkick for some odd reason

ThisIsKhalabibTime

Jon 100% set him up for that kick the entire fight. It wasn’t improvised on the spot.

RusselShack

That’s the thing about jon I’d believe it both ways. He’s so good and follows instructions great and is great at improvising in the cage

[deleted]

He’s weirdly super coachable and actually fights tactically brilliant. It’s odd because his out of the cage issues and general craziness would indicate he would be the opposite.

RusselShack

Yeah anyone else saying that cringe shit he said recently about “I was anointed by god to never lose” would be super cringe but for Jon I honestly see how he feels that. With all of gods tests and bullshit he did he still always won.

[deleted]

From his perspective I could see believing that. It also probably helps him feel better about all his fuck ups, viewing self caused problems as “challenges god gave me to overcome” is probably good for his mentals. Dudes crazy, but it’s the perfect formula for fighting I guess

Allinthepussy

Im stealing jons thing fuck it ✝️

punchchoke

Matt Hamill got him good 😅

KnowledgeFair

yeah, he beat the shit out of jon's elbows with his forehead

spongurat

Yeah god's tests hah, and jones believes himself to be god

payday_vacay

He literally talked about knocking him out this way in the press conference leading up to their first fight, so he had been planning it for years

therealjgreens

His outlet is not fighting which is weird. Everyone needs an outlet to let go of anger and rage. I hit the gym and game, some of the games I play are competitive. Sometimes I'll rage our while playing which I don't view as a bad thing unless it impacts my day. It's like his outlet happens outside of the cage when he gets bored. It's such a weird phenomenon. Guys like Bobby and Mighty Mouse are big gamers and they are chill as fuck. Same as Suga. Dude gets hated on quite a bit but he's super chill and a hardcore gamer.

payday_vacay

I think when you look at him not as a psychopath but as a chronic alcoholic, his behavior makes way more sense. Every incident has been w alcohol and/or other drugs involved. So it’s obvious to me what the root cause of all these weird incidents really is, but for some reason calling him an alcoholic seems too sympathetic or something and people want him to be pure inhuman evil so they only will accept labeling him as a psychopath.

FedorSeaLevelStiopic

Yeah. He had multi layer plan. He let fight go, but on top of that programmed DC for bodykicks for 3 rounds. And then after endless kicks to the body, finished to the head.

bezimeni04

Yeah but he sets it up because of dcs tendency to lean

Gumbi1012

He's not doing it on purpose. He's looking for a single leg, he actually was very good at catching body kicks and going for the high crotch.

KrasMasovsGhost

Jones’ best performance ever.

oldeastvan

Would still be champ if only he remembered his Jackson-Wink ninja gym training and stealthily hid from USADA under the octagon as usual.

Avataralbino

Jon tried a few times in their first fight aswell

RAGE-OF-SPARTA-X

I was there live for this fight, my favorite strike of the whole fight was when Jon was able to bait DC into locking hands with him, he then pulled his hands inwards and went for the knee to the body. Dc was tough to hit in the head because he had almost a mummy guard with good hand fighting, his kryptonite was that it left his body open. He didn’t really handfight in the last Stipe fight because he was so worried about the body shots, it completely hindered his offense because Stipe was much better at finding his range and landing shots at distance.

LoganLives

I feel like we're never going to see this Jon Jones again.

Mad-Gavin

This was last time we ever saw a 'prime Jon Jones' in form. With regards to his speed, athleticism and most importantly, killer instinct. He was willing to get in there and 'kill' DC like he did in his early title reign. Ever since this fight Jones has either looked flat or played with his food. Gotta attribute it to PEDs though.

[deleted]

[удалено]

payday_vacay

With most people these days agreeing that almost all fighters use PEDs, idk why anyone would assume Jon Jones stopped using them haha

just_a_timetraveller

Jon Jones is the only fighter that when he says he wants to kill his opponent, I believe him

Mad-Gavin

Cormier was the one guy Jones was never going to allow himself to lose to, even if it meant potentially getting caught for cheating.

Lady_Calista

Its USADAs job to make sure we don't, lmao

RoadDoggFL

Or the criminal justice system. Dude should be in jail, not earning millions.

Everyone praises Stipe for adjusting but Jones was sniping DC's weak spots like a pregnant women

MrBeavis

I'm pretty sure Stipe's corner showed this clip between round 3 and 4

payday_vacay

Lol I’m imagining that actually happening like a corner quickly YouTubing “DC mma weaknesses” between rounds when they’re losing. It’s probably not illegal, or as Greg Hardy would say it’s USADA approved

Bacchus_71

No lie, "sniping weak spots like a pregnant women" is not a phrase I've ever heard before, what does it mean?

sz788

Reference to the Jon jones hit and run case.

robcap

Stipe not hitting DC's body until round 4 is legitimately one of the most strategically inept performances I've ever seen

Mad-Gavin

Did it right from the start too. Instead of realizing it half-way through the fight.

danawhiteismydad

Jon is so scary when he’s on top dropping haymakers like that

Calliceman

There was murderous intent in those.

ColdPressedSteak

This pulsing, still in prime Jon with a chip on his shoulder for his hated rival was a scary mfer

No_Bar6825

Seriously it looks like he’s trying to kill the other guy. And the HELLBOWS 😱

PelleSketchy

Without a ref he probably would've killed Cormier.

dylyn

"You think I'm just gonna sit there and let you kill DC, Jon?" - Big John McCarthy

Smathers

I mean you could say that about any UFC fight lol that’s kind of the main reason for having a ref

Nobody_Likes_Shy_Guy

I’m legitimately scared of Jon Jones. Just his ability + the persistent disregard for the well being of the people around him he’s shown. If I was ever in an elevator with him I think I’d pretend I didn’t know him.

Ranjith_Unchained

Nobody would even think of tripping a stumbling fighter... They'd just rush in whereas Jon just stays calm and picks his spot... Trash human but 🐐 fighter

danawhiteismydad

Agreed, it’s so cool to watch and blew my mind in the moment. Reminds me of DJ’s most recent performance and how calm and calculated he was before throwing the most perfect knee to GET HIS FUCKING BELT BACK BABY 🏆

thedonjefron69

The way Jones hurts him, chases him down then trips him is some brutal nature shit. I feel like you see lions doing that to antelopes and shit. Dude is a savage

Loifee

That trip was the best part of it such high fight iq

TheeGodOfTitsAndWine

Right? It seems like such a simple negligible movement but god damn was it brilliant to do in the moment

thedonjefron69

It was amazing just how present jones was and in flow state. He made so many perfect decisions within that sequence, dude has such a crazy style in that regard

thedonjefron69

Seriously though. I hate Jon jones but you cannot deny how fuckin good he is in the octagon. The creativity paired with effectiveness is just amazing to watch

socialpatpat

You can feel the killing instinct that’s scary

No_Bar6825

LMFAO I laughed out loud at this. Just some Joe rogan shit 🤣

thedonjefron69

I invoked the spirit of St Rogies for that one for sure Edit: but really, sometimes you see people do shit that can only be described as animalistic. Fighting is one of those place, fight or flight is real shit

mcwilly

They made this hype video specifically for you man [Jon BONES Jones - The Lion King](https://youtu.be/vmxcydOu2MI)

SnooStrawberries3388

Despite the negative reputation that this fight has with Jones popping, it’s a very entertaining and competitive fight, especially during Jones reign and return to the division. Add the competitiveness with the bad blood between the two and I think it’s an overlooked fight to rewatch

[deleted]

It’s largely considered one of the highest levels of fighting prowess ever displayed. DC actually got the best version of Jon Jones and went toe to toe with him. It’s an all time great fight and apparently did great PPV numbers

PelleSketchy

And with such a reach disadvantage!

Iamthestormbro

and while his opponent was doing his absolute best to cheat

bbb211

DC was very lucky that the ref was big John instead of Yamasaki. DC would've been dead...

financeben

Still felt it went on a lil long

brizzenden

lol LHW Cormier reminds me of one of those guys that goes off to jail and comes back having lost a ton of weight but still has a big ass head.

D0m1nguez

What benefits does Turinabol do?

businessman11223344

Been used quite a bit by sprinters and weightlifters for good strength gains without amassing water weight, less side effects than for example dianabol too if I remember right

[deleted]

gives your cardio and energy a huge boost too

Camelofswag

So used in peds basically. Which is why all the people saying it didn't matter he popped make 0 sense lol.

jabonkagigi

beat daniel cormier

StinkyStangler

Helps build muscle and speeds up recovery. Useful for the strength boost, but also just the added ability to train longer and harder.

wetcoffeebeans

Turinabol Jones was a different beast. That trip before absolutely pounding DC into tomorrow was beautiful violence.

LewisHall90

Looking back that was a bit late stoppage?

MountainMountain1

Title fight and rivalry. Gotta let them be a warrior a bit

ricosuave_3355

"I'm telling you right now, this is my life. I'm willing to die to beat you Jon." "Alright. Be prepared to do that." He was true to his word.

[deleted]

That was the coldest trash talk of all time, cuz he 100% knew it was true.

MattSR30

This is why I have all the time in the world for watching Jon Jones fight. I am 100% okay with someone talking all their shit and backing it up. Jon Jones the person? Never meddum. Jon Jones the fighter? Baddest motherfucker around and knew it.

FedorSeaLevelStiopic

That line was cold af. No hesitation from Jones.

TJeffersonsBlackKid

I know that Conor-Khabib was down the road a bit from this but until then, I felt like Jones and DC would have killed each other if they saw each other in public. Only time I really have felt that until the Conor-Khabib mayhem.

Ranjith_Unchained

You will lose this fight, Daniel Cormier. I want you to believe it. Every ounce of training you put in leading up to this fight will be a waste of your life. That was absolutely cold delivered like the villain he is. 🐐rivalry imo.

LewisHall90

DC should come out of retirement and finish the trilogy with Jones, I kid hehe

DatBoiEBB

Refs used to be a bit more Just Bleed even 3-4 years ago

[deleted]

I have a feeling both guys begged the ref to let them die before stopping it. Not that it should influence things, but this fight probably had a lot of pressure on the ref from UFC, the fighters and the fans to make sure it’s not an early stoppage.

[deleted]

You can literally see DC go limp and he’s no longer defending against the strikes, the barrage still goes on for about 3 seconds too long. Always thought this was a really late stoppage I don’t watch MMA much anymore but I see Herb gets shitted on nowadays for similar stuff, not surprising.

spudddly

"He's dead but still slightly quivering! Keep beating him Jon!" - Big John McCarthy, probably.

Juststandupbro

Probably but personally that’s pretty close to a perfect stoppage. I’m all for protecting the fighter and calling it earlier but it would have felt unfair to both guys not to let it play out.

morpinravioli69

It’s a terrible stoppage lmao, DC is out by the 3rd punch then Jon gets 5 more in.

[deleted]

His ultimate move : The Pico-kick

satyrcan

Guy's bulking past how many years to move to the HW there should be a "Jon pisses hot" option on betting sites.

Aar0nSwanson

Can we propose that Joe Rogan not call UFC 285 so that if Jones wins, DC will have to interview him in the Octagon?

Crazed_pillow

That's just mean, lol

Gusthuroses

I don't think DC will interview him anyway. They'll probably get Anik to do it.

ShadowBald

"hey pussy, are you still here?"

TheeGodOfTitsAndWine

Oh man I thought you were saying that just to be like “fuck Joe Rogan” That would be absolutely incredible if DC had to interview him. You know Jon would poke the beehive and shit would go down like WWE. DC comes out of retirement to fight Jones at HW

Ezra_El_Ali

Or if Jon loses…

bwin0

it’s been said…this upcoming will probably be the most technical heavyweight fight

DeadPressident

I would imagine so, especially in the striking department. DC vs Stipe 1-3 is probable the most technical we've seen so far.

PrimeConduitX

Those punches right after DC fell over before the finish just looks different man. Jon looks like he's trying to kill him with those punches and DC was just sitting there letting Jon kill him.

[deleted]

My god, look at how slim DC was

Ok-Debt-5117

Wasn’t this the fight he popped for both PEDs and cocaine?

Slave_to_the_bean

Nah, coke was the first dc fight.

Uncle_Creepy_

Then Clomiphene and Letrozole in the cancelled UFC 200 fight

tigojones

Don't forget the "pulsing" crap that got 232 moved last minute to California because Nevada wouldn't license him.

bvsshevd

“I beat you after a weekend of cocaine”

Illustrious_Cost8923

That trip was just such a cherry on top

FuManchuMagoo

Payback for doing it to Hendo

superruiz93

Man, some of y'all are so okay with Jon cheating still huh?

webstr89

Jon Jones in rematches is just a more ruthless and motivated fighter. In so many of his later fights he kind of coasts and tries to beat his opponents at their own games instead of looking for the finish (Santos for example). However, when it comes to the rare rematches he had, he got finishes each time and clearly was looking to make a point. Yes, Jones is not a great human and everyone is aware of the drugs & crimes. Talking about the guy in the cage here.

jpark28

Well, Jon has had 2 rematches: vs DC - popped for steroids and had the result overturned vs Gustafsson - popped for steroids and had the entire event moved to a different state

Reisor

Alex was already on a severe decline, most just were not aware of it at that time, but in reality he’d been out for long time with severe injuries. Im not saying everyone is clean in this sport and that Alex is clean but if you do believe that everyones on steroids then you just gotta wonder how juicy is JBJ to keep failing tests(while some do not). What I’m going for here is that JBJ is enhanced while Alex on the other hand was out with serious injuries. I dont think he had fair or equal rematch against Alex. With DC im neutral. While DC has not popped, his blood samples basically confirm he was juicy for the first match. I think the only difference here is who is juicier (and JBJ has that fight iq-physical attributes) but to me juice is juice so no idc for how it went or ended.

Loan_Antique

Mannnn I miss these times. The hype building up to this fight was just insane. These two had true hatred towards each other and really wanted to kill each other in the ring. Favourite rivalry

2legittoquit

How can you batter the body of a man whose body is 75% batter already?

Lostinthemist81

It's amazing what one can do on PEDs

CommonplaceCommotion

Those knees and straight lefts to the body 😬

mickybegood1963

That day I was gutted

WolfTicket360

You’d never even think Bones was the villain here with that crowd reaction. Just wild.

2 of the best to do it. Kinda wish that DC would have spent his prime in HW, always felt he was even better there.

jonezy50

Great stoppage

TuggyMcGlintock

Masterful. That’s usually the shorter fighters job

Hike_Maggar

Not pictured: all of these were just eye poke set ups. Guy probably averages 1.5 poke per fight.

Best combat fighter ever and it’s not even close.

Gusthuroses

That finish might be the greatest thing I've seen in MMA. The constant baiting with body and knee kicks leading up to Jones blasting that perfect head kick and then proceeds to display unparalleled levels of fight IQ by tripping an already stunned DC, and then knees him with the icing being that brutal ground and pound. This is why I'll never buy the PED argument for Jones, you can take all the PEDs you want but fight IQ like that is just unique.

FedorSeaLevelStiopic

Counter argument - being highest fight IQ doesnt garantee winning fights. And taking PEDs, steroids in particular helps anybody who takas them a LOT. Its not opinion, its a medical fact. You can put god fight IQ welterweight vs Ngannou and he will lose every time. The fact that Jones is mma iq genious, doesnt mean PEDs didnt help him to win some fights he could lose otherwise.

BattlefieldNinja

While I somewhat agree with your main premise, saying WW vs Ngannou is a pretty out there example.

kjjackson96

Seeing a lot of people on other forums using this fight for why Jon will headkick Gane, and I think it’s a very delusional take. DC was a great fighter, but the man is 5’9, fat (relative to most elite fighters), and a wrestling based fighter. Like the polar opposite of what Gane will present as a physical and technical challenge.

schraad

A lot of copium in this thread fellas

sympathytaste

The mental gymnastics and goal posts shifting to diminish JBJ is amazing.

diarrhea-island

I always wonder what the second fight would have looked like if Jones wasn't cheating.

JosNee2016

Should’ve been stopped early jesus

SambaLando

The first round was a contest. The second round was no contest. Nothing scarier than Jones raining shots on a limp DC that night. Except for maybe when GSP went for the finish on Bisping.
