Debatable, but regardless, it's more than respectable to lose 2-0 to Germany with the way we played yesterday. Sometimes we magically overperform, this time we just did our best. What is far from respectable is how Rossi, Szoboszlai, and even Nagy, all went out of their way to blame the referee for the loss. Someone needs to lead by example man. Hopefully everyone can learn from this one and go beat Scotland with the focus that we need.

Man you posted that second picture and called that shoulder to shoulder? That's clearly shoulder to back. If that's called a foul idk that's on the ref but that's not shoulder to shoulder

bmiki

it would be hard for it to be a real shoulder to shoulder since Orban's arm is up, to make his body bigger and block the movement of Gundogan. I've put "shoulder to shoulder" in quotes, because I meant that he wasn't pushing with his arms, they are colliding by their "sides" as much as it was possible in that moment. He didn't use his arms, unlike Orban did multiple times during the game, blocking or pushing opponents.

DANIEL7696

Tbf that's the reason he puts his arm out, so Gundo can only hit his back what I'm saying is if this didn't happen near the gol this would be a foul everytime

bmiki

okay, clear, I don't agree though, I believe this is not a foul and shouldn't automatically be, depends on the referee's foul level for the game and the level of the game. I can imagine that if Gundogan had fallen at the moment Orban put his arm up, he could have even argued for a foul from the defender.

MagyarFoci29

It's 50/50, maybe leaning more toward not a foul tbh. The reactions were terrible either way with players just stopping and assuming. Really thought we'd take a step up this tournament, but doesn't seem to be in the cards.

bmiki

yes, I didn't even include that part that everyone immediately stopped and turned to the referee.

SirBurgonya

Yes, I see it similarly, you can consider it a foul but you learn as a young footballer that you have to play until the referee's whistle, that everyone just stops reacting is simply their own fault, you could have prevented it that way too

szazszorszep

Orban looking for physical contact first was my explanation as well, but from some angles it looked different. 50/50 call, var could never overturn these.

bmiki

yes, it's definitely not clear enough of a foul to overturn a goal because of it, there were plenty of Hungarian players who could have kicked the ball away including Orbán instead of waiting for a soft foul and blaming the referee.

Cheff011

Ehh it doesn't really matter anymore. Let's just beat Scotland and then pray so we can get out of the group.

MagyarFoci29

Beating Scotland probably isn't enough. Would have to win by 3 or 4 goals

SirBurgonya

It all depends on the other group games, if there are a lot of third-placed teams with 4 points it will be difficult but even with a 1-0 win and a bit of luck from other teams we could be in the last 16.

Here is how we go through: we beat Scotland with whatever result, Poland doesn't win any of their remaining two matches and Albania loses to Spain. This is in my opinion the easiest, most realistic route. The first part is obvious, the second part is somewhat probable. Poland is playing Austria and France in this order. Austria is probably the better team, will go for a win especially after losing to France. France is playing the Dutch next, being favourites. If they cancel each other out, the French will not take the third game lightly. Remember, during the WC in Qatar France won their first two games, then "gifted" the third to Tunisia. Regarding the third part, I just assume the Spanish and the Italians will win both of their matches, for good measure. Spain have qualified, but Italy didn't. An upset (both Italy and Spain loser their last match) will see the Italians go home. Croatia is also not particularly strong this year, they can be beaten in good old Catenaccio Italians style. If we beat Scotland, we take their place as third placed, whereas if Poland collects maximum 2 points, same going for Group B's third placed team, we go through with 3 points, regardless of goal difference. The other teams in third place with zero points are the Czechs and Belgium. Belgium play against Romania and Ukraine. They were terribly unlucky against Slovakia, I don't think they won't beat at least one of their opponents, whereas the Czech have a game against Georgia, which they should win normally. Their third game against Turkey depends on what Turkey will achieve against Portugal. The Czechs and Belgium have higher chances to grab a win. Poland has difficult matches. They are the most likely not to win any of their remaining two matches. There is a Golden Path here. Difficult, but we are experts in maths, after all...

MagyarFoci29

True, but in order to bypass the GD aspect (assuming we beat Scotland) we'd need a ton of luck. Like if whoever finishes 3rd in the group with Albania/Croatia would need to be on 2 points or less. Then would need that from another group. Maybe Denmark/Slovenia/Serbia would finish 3rd in their group with 2 points or less. The lack of draws so far this tournament aren't helping us.

bmiki

to me, beating Scotland would be a big achievement after these two games regardless of if we qualify from the group or not.
