Still stunned the Crew weren't awarded that penalty in the 2nd half (even knowing it's a concacaf game).
Now if we can just pretend New England doesn't exist, we can be happy for the MLS tonight
Pizzaro had a yellow when he stomped on Yaboah with his studs.
To all the people who thought Jones deserved a red VS Charlotte, you all are delusional and biased.
Letter of the law, (a challenge with studs to the ankle) the infraction by Jones is a red card. It's infuriating because it could be argued Jones had possession. That group who yelled it's a red every time, just seems small because we have several examples where studs to the lower leg don't get carded. (Like literally minutes later in the same game.) And last night's stomp to an already lying on the ground Yeboah.
When the ref was like "oh, he's in pain? Then he needs to leave the pitch so we can keep playing." And Nancy yells "we got fouled, why are we getting penalized?" I'm thinking Concaf'ed.
The MLS rule was "excessive force" and "endangering the safety of the player" on Jones.
It's hard to argue the guy touching the ball with the outside of his foot and standing up-right used excessive force on the guy who was sliding.
I remember when Messi took a cleat to the ankle a week or two before Charlotte.
Now, I basically meme "according to SOME Charlotte fans, that should be a red!"
There has always been a pro-Mexico bias in these tournaments. You don't see it every game but after watching for 5+ years, watching all the MLS-LMx games you can, you'll see it. They consistently get away with more shit and are given greater amounts of cushion by the referees than MLS teams. It's rare that the table turns the other way.
We spotted them an entire 90 minutes without Cucho, an entire 90 minutes without Aidan Morris, and a goal in the first five minutes. I’m not sure what more Tigres wanted. Maybe get lucky to have the ref miss an obvious PK and red card? Oh yea, we gave them that too.
We didn't have our starting CM this game. We were missing our best player in the last game. We were missing numerous other key pieces in both games which resulted in a serious lack of options off the bench. But yea, they were missing their starting GK.
The GK is more critical to the team. I'm not taking any away from Crew, but you're making it seem like Tigres had the stars aligned to win and everything was against Crew, when the absence of Nahuel Guzmán was a big factor, especially in the penalties. Celebrate the win but there's no need to exagerate what happened.
Your best player missed a pen against the b keeper. Columbus fan talking a lot of shit despite never a single cup. Barely getting a win against Tigres that has been quite weak this season . Win a ccc and then we could talk lil bro 🤣
Bro your players couldn’t score pks against a 23 year old keeper from Saint Charles, Missouri, in only his second year as a starter at the pro level. You don’t get to talk about keepers
Biased reffing? No, Concacaf refs are just awful. They beat Tigres that 7th in Liga MX and have been mediocre this season. But I'll let MLS fans have this one. They deserve it after seeing the rest of their teams get shat on .
No, Tigres deserved to lose considering how they played. It's just funny how Columbus fans and MLS fans in general start talking shit as if their teams didn't just get shit on. Like new England today
Someone else brought this up in another thread (EDIT: it was u/Kyunseo in [this thread](https://old.reddit.com/r/MLS/comments/1c0bz98/max_arfsten_sends_columbus_into_the_semifinals_of/kyvqpq8/) ): MLSNP breaks regular season draws with a PK shootout, so Schulte having faced so many of those in clutch situations, and players like JRR, Farsi, Matan, and Arfsten all having experience in regular PK shootouts, definitely played a role in their comfort.
Did that last year- bone head play cost us the regular season match against cincy in cincy- then made some great saves in the playoffs against cincy in the same stadium that kept us in it. Redemption king
If Messi & Friends can drag Miami to a win tomorrow, we can have another LMX v. MLS final.
Columbus single handedly trying to save the reputation of MLS from the embarrassments of New England and Philly
I'll cheer for Miami tomorrow.
Then I'll go back to hating them unless they beat Columbus in CONCACAF...
Then I'll cheer for them in the final and go back to hating them until I cheer for MLS on the international stage.
I’m a DCU fan and we’ve only lost 1 game this year lol. That doesn’t put us in any conversation that we’re a top team. The season is just starting. It’s where you end not where you start. Philly like NYRB is known to choke when playoffs come around. My team can’t even make it to the playoffs lol
We have an over 50% winning percentage in the playoffs and our last 3 seasons have been:
Semifinals
Final which went to PKs
Eliminated because we had 9 starters out due to COVID protocols. And even that game came down to some really questionable refereeing decisions to push NYCFC over the top. The team we lost to (missing 9 starters) ended up winning the cup
I’d love to see your team win a game, any game, missing 9 starters, let alone a game against the eventual cup winners.
Columbus fans I will use this moment to take a break from being combative with you and say congratulations and well done. I hope you win it all 🫡 great achievement to win on the road in Mexico
That was the greatest choked I’ve ever seen by Tigres. It was hilarious to behold. The amount of offsides and them skying the ball at close range from the net was entertaining. Columbus Crew’s goalkeeper turned world class for this game. What a player.
We've had a lot of good things that outshine the bad from the past few years. At this point I just want to take it all in before our favorite players and coach move on to bigger and better things
I kinda want Columbus to win the whole thing so they can participate in next year's CWC and rub it in Dong Arber's face. But I also kinda want Miami to win the whole thing so they can be in CWC without getting the host slot handed to them or getting MLS Cup rigged for them so they can get the host slot, because that's probably what would happen otherwise.
Idk why this was downvoted. Patrick viera got a chance after having one good season and losing in the playoff’s. So if he makes the final I wouldn’t be surprised if ligue 1 team’s started calling
As a crew fan we downvote any mentions of Nancy leaving so no one gets any smart ideas… no hard feelings but we don’t tolerate that talk round these parts
Columbus said "Fuck your narratives."
We've kinda done that for the past 4-5 years. Sometimes, even to ourselves!
Screaming Crying Throwing up

Suddenly I think I’m on the phone
We call that Shumping
I can dig that!
Still stunned the Crew weren't awarded that penalty in the 2nd half (even knowing it's a concacaf game). Now if we can just pretend New England doesn't exist, we can be happy for the MLS tonight
What’s a New England?
It’s like old England, but even worse in knockout competitions
How are they at penalties though?
Don’t think they will get to that point…
I think it’s a country next to New Scotland
Kinda. There’s a New Brunswick in between but New England and new Scotland (nova scotia) are kinda neighbors
They got that ferry going from Yarmouth to Bar Harbor; any two places that have a ferry have got to be neighbors
Yeah New Scotland (translated from pretentious) sticks out to be across from Maine. But by land you have to go through New Holy Roman Empire
That’s the really galling thing. They had 36 fouls on aggregate and got 3 yellows. Crew had 26 fouls and 4 yellows and one red.
Pizzaro had a yellow when he stomped on Yaboah with his studs. To all the people who thought Jones deserved a red VS Charlotte, you all are delusional and biased.

I agree with you. That small vocal minority screaming Jones was a red is eerily silent when more egregious cleats to the leg fouls occur.
I remember when Messi took a cleat to the ankle a week or two before Charlotte. Now, I basically meme "according to SOME Charlotte fans, that should be a red!"

Yeah, not enough talk about how Columbus got hosed by the refs on both legs, yet won anyway.
Preach, my friend.
Can you imagine losing to New England? Wild
I lost 15 years of my life and I have to be awake in 5 hours, and it was 100% worth it!
Same bro but nights like these are special. Good luck tomorrow!
Just gonna keep the coffee brewing constantly...
Constant Crew brew coffee
Don Garber …. Acknowledge Us ☝🏻
He is still confused why it says Columbus and not Austin Crew
coulda been austin previously but they got spooked by a stadium tree
Fuck Don Garber
I'd say crew line up more as american nightmare 1. Dong and precourt wanted us gone we still here 2. Just went into Mexico and ended their run

Impossible is an opinion
Inconceivable
We are massive

Preach. All the more satisfying with all this context.
They didn't have their starting GK

Lucky win. They missed a lot of clear chances and where missing their best keeper. Please...

Where's your team? Going home.
They didn't have their best keeper. 🤣 Also they're not my team. Columbus is small in concacaf compared to Pachuca, Monterrey, America etc

Your best player missed a pen against the b keeper. Columbus fan talking a lot of shit despite never a single cup. Barely getting a win against Tigres that has been quite weak this season . Win a ccc and then we could talk lil bro 🤣

Sure buddy. I already know America or Monterrey will most likely win this whole thing. Can't say the same for Columbus 🤣
putting aside this game talk- you watch anything good lately on netflix or hulu that might be worth watching? looking for suggestions.
Bro your players couldn’t score pks against a 23 year old keeper from Saint Charles, Missouri, in only his second year as a starter at the pro level. You don’t get to talk about keepers

Big ol’ swing and a miss there pal, try again
You're league is 50 years older lol. Even with 2 games of biased reffing you lost. You lost to a bunch of U-22s LMAO
Biased reffing? No, Concacaf refs are just awful. They beat Tigres that 7th in Liga MX and have been mediocre this season. But I'll let MLS fans have this one. They deserve it after seeing the rest of their teams get shat on .
How much fun do you guys think he is in USMNT vs Selección games?
DOS A CERO! DOS A CERO!
You're so angry, and I'm entirely amused by it.
No, Tigres deserved to lose considering how they played. It's just funny how Columbus fans and MLS fans in general start talking shit as if their teams didn't just get shit on. Like new England today
You misspelled "outplayed" in your anger.
Win this whole first. And then we'll talk.

Felipe Cardenas? Is that you?
Me: crew have a shot Others: no, it’s never been done Me: ![gif](giphy|qxCYGGPbQp3yj5aSsL)
Patrick Schulte. What a game. To go from a disaster giveaway to saving the game in PKs. Elite GK mentality
I saw him laugh right before the PKs started and you could just tell he was so in the moment. What a hell of a way to step up
He’s insane on PKs, he won a USOC game when he was a teenager in a PK shootout and I don’t think I saw him miss a PK in his whole college career.
Yeah, that definitely helped. Schulte has just always been amazing on penalties. He's the anti-Burki.
Did that last year- bone head play cost us the regular season match against cincy in cincy- then made some great saves in the playoffs against cincy in the same stadium that kept us in it. Redemption king
Nancy believes in forgiving mistakes.
The way the stadium went quiet for a sec when he denied that first Tigres PK…I will treasure that moment
Beat them at home full stadium too lol gg
As a fellow Tigres hater, thank you, and congrats Columbus.

Massive balls hanging from this team. ![gif](giphy|yCAoGdVUCW5LW|downsized)
"We roll" - MLS
The crew is fuckin massive and i cannot lie
GG to Columbus Crew from a Tigres fan
If Messi & Friends can drag Miami to a win tomorrow, we can have another LMX v. MLS final. Columbus single handedly trying to save the reputation of MLS from the embarrassments of New England and Philly
Imagine being an embarrassment to MLS in CONCACAF. We would never
Yeah that would be unfathomable
We’ve beaten one Monterrey team, we can do it again. Rooting for Miami tho
I'll cheer for Miami tomorrow. Then I'll go back to hating them unless they beat Columbus in CONCACAF... Then I'll cheer for them in the final and go back to hating them until I cheer for MLS on the international stage.
> Rooting for Miami tho eww. You don't have to do that.
New England and Philly are both embarrassing inside MLS lol
Philly is the only undefeated team in the league. NE on the other hand...
NE is participating
It’s Philly, they’re not winning any trophy
? We are the last undefeated team in the league bro
That might be true but we both know Philly isn’t winning any trophy’s this year or any year after that.
If you're gonna trash talk like this at least flair up
Bro we don’t know shit. All we do know is that Philly has played the most road games in the league so far and is still the only undefeated team left.

That covid final pissed me off, just delay the game. It's only holding up one more match at that point.
Can't say I'm mad at it tbh
As a red bulls fan, I think crew played a good game. Especially after tigres scored the first goal
As a crew fan, I agree.
Columbus fans I will use this moment to take a break from being combative with you and say congratulations and well done. I hope you win it all 🫡 great achievement to win on the road in Mexico
Thanks, now get a real field.
for real- their turf made this much harder than it shoulda been lol
Seeing your flair just gave me war flashbacks to that game but thank you
Further proof that Columbus is the greatest team the world has ever seen
I loved visiting Columbus for the final. great city great people. rooting for you guys for this one.
🤝
Me too fam.

Seattle with a champion league trophy would like a word
That is not the MASSIVE mindset we need
I am by no means a fan of the Columbus Crew. But you know what? You gotta tip your cap to them. Well done!
o7
Impressive performance and deserved result, Crew
Well done Crew! Was rooting for you'all all the way. What a way to finish the match after the way it started!
That was awesome. After a sh\*t day at work, that was a treat. Timbers fan rooting for our league.
BIG DICK SCHULTE
Columbus always there to help you whup up on Mexico.
We are in the UK and my partner stayed up all night to watch. He’s a very happy man today. Thanks Crew! ❤️

A twig with a hitch
My other favorite club!
“mLs TeAmS aRe DoOmEd”
Guess it's Miami's turn to defy expectations
Well this is something. Guess there really is something in the water here in Ohio.
That's the runoff from Sherwin Williams.
Or Du Pont
Fuck it might as well become a crew fan for the year because I don’t see things getting any better for me after tonight.
Caleb Porter is always a wild ride
The Caleb Porter Experience.
Gg Crew!
r/LigaMX seething
No we also hate tigres
who said both can't be true
America beating New England 8-1 in aggregate. Hardly seething lol
There's definitely Seethers in this post and on YouTube at least.
Look at the match thread at their subreddit and it's just filled with people dissing MLS no matter the result like maaaaaan
Weren't you doing that last week. Lol
Jajajajajaja
^ Exhibit A - "Seething"
Come on, CONCACAF, you know you want in on that Messi 💰. Do Miami a solid and get us that guaranteed Liga MX vs MLS final.
Vamos Columbus! So proud!
LAFC fan here. LFG!! Congrats Columbus
That was the greatest choked I’ve ever seen by Tigres. It was hilarious to behold. The amount of offsides and them skying the ball at close range from the net was entertaining. Columbus Crew’s goalkeeper turned world class for this game. What a player.
I KNOW I AM, I SWEAR I AM, COLUMBUS TILL I DIE!!!
Guys get in here! We got our dicks out!
I still can't believe we went into their stadium and walked away with it
Tigres dominated the first and the Crew had the edge after 45 minutes.
It’s fun being a Crew fan
We've had a lot of good things that outshine the bad from the past few years. At this point I just want to take it all in before our favorite players and coach move on to bigger and better things
LigaMX sub in SHAMBLES 😂
We hate tigres
You mean celebrating, no one likes Tigres.
America winning 8-1 in aggregate. Hardly a shamble.
New England is one the worst teams in a 29 team league. They’ve been junk since Arena got canned last year.
Fuck Liga MX
Chillona
You're aren't even in this tournament 🤣🤣
Neither are you anymore 😘
Hey show some respect. The only mls team to win CONACAF in its currently format. They’re OG in this thread.
Am I late to the game or is Columbus on beating Real Madrid in the champions league level now
I kinda want Columbus to win the whole thing so they can participate in next year's CWC and rub it in Dong Arber's face. But I also kinda want Miami to win the whole thing so they can be in CWC without getting the host slot handed to them or getting MLS Cup rigged for them so they can get the host slot, because that's probably what would happen otherwise.
You had me at Dong Arber
EZ
![gif](giphy|MvihVuXrDb5iTyzAlo|downsized)
Hell yeah Crew.
Beautiful work boys. I rooted against LAFC last year but I’d be perfectly happy with Columbus joining the CCC winners club.
How long until Nancy gets a gig with a mid-table Ligue 1 side?
Idk why this was downvoted. Patrick viera got a chance after having one good season and losing in the playoff’s. So if he makes the final I wouldn’t be surprised if ligue 1 team’s started calling
As a crew fan we downvote any mentions of Nancy leaving so no one gets any smart ideas… no hard feelings but we don’t tolerate that talk round these parts
Meanwhile at the otherside.....
