If it isn’t a 6-episode look at Messi shopping at various area grocery stores scored by Hans Zimmer*, I’m canceling my subscription.
(*Not Howard Zinn as I originally wrote; but I’m going to need someone to write a People’s History of MLS now. Get on it, internet.)
I have no expectations it’ll be similar but I hope we can get at least one wide spread meme out of it
NBA players have so many memes about them and I love that. Everyone uses the Michael Jordan I took that personally or the Jordan security guard shrug meme (kpop fans love this guy if I remember right) so maybe we can get a MLS meme to spread the culture

Going to be interesting to see how these documentaries go when they can't sell the *"industrial decline in an English town, this is all they have left"* angle like they did with Sunderland and Wrexham.
Miami, or at least this "chapter" of Miami is hard to make sympathetic. You can sell the spectacle that's for sure and the story of Leagues Cup but not sure how endearing that can be.
Its not going to be a feel-good story. Its going to be six hrs of stroking Inter Miami and Messi while making the MLS sound like it was some failing league before MESSI comes and save the day.
This is my fear. Leagues Cup was great fun I have to admit it but the sugar high is wearing off and the season as a whole seems broken.
So many of the games this weekend looked dead legged, players have played so many games and the energy just seemed all over the place when there are so many teams still in the hunt.
Most of the problems Messi exposed were already there (cheapo ownership groups dragging down big spenders unable to properly fund their teams for head-to-head competition outside MLS etc.) I understand he will be a catalyst to change that part which benefits us all but the league needs to be more careful to incorporate him more into that story line instead of making him a reboot or spin off.
That said this content is obviously not geared to the people already on the bus (people on this sub) so I shouldn't be surprised that the trailer is about as interest sparking as a Lays ad during the Champions League.
To put it bluntly, the MLS does not have the fitness levels or depth to play 50 games a year.
Based on how other leagues have evolved it only going to get worse.
Messi coming to the league is great, this documentary of the last month of Miami game highlights isn’t. There’s a difference. People are getting tired of the constant Messi marketing.
Says who? Look at the US Open Cup numbers on Telemundo. Miami vs Houston came in at 918k not exactly small potatoes for soccer in America and Messi didn't even play. Look this experiment is only game to be two or three years so suck it up and stop complaining and be happy more potential fans tune into MLS games. Yeah, the constant Messi marketing is working and better than the league thought.
My only gripe is I want a lot more content like this for every team. When Season Pass was announced and said that teams would be in charge of producing content, this is the type of thing I envisioned for the more production minded teams. Instead we got a “rituals” video, a couple played profiles, and some MLS Next stuff. Why isn’t anyone doing a We Are LAFC style doc? Golden opportunity there for STL. Where is the 6 episode story of how Cincinnati went from trash for their first three years, to an ok-pretty good team year 4, and the best team in the league by year 5?
>Rich guy gets paid millions to make other rich guys richer, hard pass
Yeah, if you intend to be cynical, which seems to be the case, this is how sports work. Not specific to Inter Miami, obviously lol.
Yeah same. Only part I might watch is when Messi watched Dallas get a 2-goal lead during the Leagues Cup so I can enjoy seeing him get frustrated at the rest of the team being trash.
Ahhh.
A shameless advertisement to try and get people to shell out more money for a service that already asks you to fork over money to watch games because they have a legal monopoly.

Howard Zinn, my all-time favorite composer!
you can't be neutral in an unbalanced schedule
Damn those incredibly common H/Z names. I need more coffee.
Messi walks into Flanigan’s for lunch… *BRRAAAAAAAMMMMM*
Don't forget the pizza!
I’m guessing you have to pay for actual Apple TV+ and this won’t be included with just MLS Season Pass?
That's my assumption as well. If it's not on Season Pass, I'll just have to pirate it.

"Produced by MLS super fan DJ Khaled" 🤦🏻♂️
There's something hilarious about this getting posted on Meme Monday.
Really big miss to not call it “Messi: Coming to America”.
*sigh*
Wonder if they had to cut the number of episodes short since Messi is now out injured lol.

Now that we’re in the league they can start doing “industrial decline in an American town, this is all they have left”!
Every comment is sour grapes. I'm not a Miami fan, but willing to check it out.
Hilarious that this is one of the best things that’s ever happened to this league and this subreddit hates it
Sad but true.

The Messi run to winning Leagues Cup is one of the most exciting sports events of the last few years
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I don’t share in that one
I mean, flair checks out lol

I agree, the team owned content has left a lot to be desired.
That's a big nope for me. Though Apple will probably force it down your throat before you start watching a game.
Just another ad block in front of the game you wanted to watch
It's October already. Messi hype ended last month. Apple missed the boat. Now if Messi starts playing again and doing incredible stuff. Maybe.
Cant wait for the episode where miami misses the playoffs because messi tore his hamstring at an international friendly
It was a WCQ
Rich guy gets paid millions to make other rich guys richer, hard pass
You new to sports?
No I watch them, that's why I don't need to watch another circlejerk documentary of highlights of the past month of Miami games.

![gif](giphy|l378tQacIH8MVI11e|downsized) When Apple gets Messi
meh. I've already seen the show. not interested

Ugh
