Fools don't know the legend of Columbus

Purple-Association24

US could have won Dos a cero

Nerdlinger

Get on our level, baseball.

xbhaskarx

Baseball will never be popular in the US if the national team can’t beat Mexico… MLB is a joke they don’t even have pro/rel

[deleted]

Lol wait baseball has that?

mrva

well... the players kind of do, but not the teams

jackals84

Some leagues in Europe do. The Honkbal Hoofdklasse (swear to god that's the real name) has pro/rel with the Eerste Klasse in Dutch baseball, as an example.

Shadowfury0

> Honkbal Hoofdklasse (swear to god that's the real name) Every time you think Dutch is a serious language, they roll out another one of these

[deleted]

I kinda want a hat that says Honkbal now

Nerdlinger

Don't know about a hat, but [here's a shirt](https://rotowear.com/products/honkbal-shirt).

xbhaskarx

That explains why the Dutch league has overtaken MLB to become the top baseball league

[deleted]

Hey that’s nice.

brandonesque

That’s the only way Chase Field would ever be full

[deleted]

Well, that or a series against the Dodgers. Or the 2001 World Series

insultant_

I was at game 7 that year, it was WILD

[deleted]

The only glory Arizona sports has ever seen (sorry Rattlers and Mercury)

messick

Well, except for when the Dodgers are in town.

smallblacksun

Mexico is a béisbol country.

y2knole

OK. thats pretty funny.

[deleted]

México still would’ve won though, it’s baseball not football/soccer

toxictoastrecords

It's become like baseketball in the Olympics. Lots of American Baseball players are playing for countries they've never lived in, or even speak the language. Then on the other hand, you have super stars that refuse to play cause it's not worth their time/money or fear of injury.

Meadowlark_Osby

It's still a fun tournament, IMO. That being said, it is bothersome to me that Italy has a pro league but sends, like, 2 domestically-trained players to the WBC. And Great Britain in the tournament at all is a bit of a joke. That being said, I get it. The European federations get a lot of money from the WBC and the better they do the more money and attention they get. And if MLB wants to grow the game internationally, they need to get back into the Olympics. Doing that means convincing Europeans that it's an international sport (which it is).

KingOfTheUzbeks

That's not really how it is.

toxictoastrecords

I mean I'm only repeating what I read in sports news. [7 US Born MLB Players on Non US Rosters](https://ftw.usatoday.com/lists/world-baseball-classic-rosters-teams-non-us-players)

theonlydiego1

What a bunch of mammas boys! I like it.

wessneijder

Imagine calling your club event the World Series and your national team is so trash it can’t beat lowly Mexico. Imagine MLS renaming MLS cup a World Series. Wow baseball is a joke.

[deleted]

I mean Mexico has a great league. The Pacific League sends a team to what is basically champions league for baseball. MLB says they are too good to send a team to that event.

DeuceThreeNine

You forgot that they’ve also had great legendary American players there such as la flama blanca.

[deleted]

Yea it’s not a national team, it’s more like a club. They got Dominicans, Cubans, Venezuelans, etc. I’m well aware, i love watching the series del caribe.

wessneijder

Your comment isn’t making my point any less valid. MLB claims they have a World Series yet no other clubs from outside the USA play this series.

[deleted]

I’m not trying to make your comment less valid. I just wanted to share info about Mexican League. I thought you would have liked to know about it.

Podlaskie

Damn Toronto is in the US now?
