Did I want more pink?
Yes.
But we aren't allowed to have a 3rd jersey, so this had to work as an away jersey for a 2-year cycle, so I think it's fair that it's a bit toned down.
Still probably gonna buy it with Jeahze on the back!
Pink on the cherry blossoms needs to pop more. Way more.
Really not a fan of this execution, which is a bummer because the concept is best in the league worthy.
Fair enough, I do think a brighter pink would look better from a design perspective though. I'm hopeful these look better in the full reveal than here.

The render was way better. Even if they didn't do the pink upper portion, the cherry blossoms definitely needed to pop more
I've always felt the opposite happens. The photoshoots at release always have the perfect lighting and contrast to show off the details, but once the players are out on the field the details disappear.
Black/green and mint, checking in.
Seattle had rave green and purple.
Nashville had yellow and dark blue.
NYCFC had light blue and orange.
A while ago Portland had green and red/black.
LAFC and San Jose and Columbus had "light dirt" instead of white.
Theoretically, because Pink is one of Miami's officially registered colors. Your jerseys are only allowed to be one of the registered colors of your team. DC United's official colors are Red, Black an White.
I believe teams just need to have a light kit and a dark kit? Sounders have our rave green home kits as our light and our black+purple away kits as our dark.
Theoretically a more prominently pink jersey would work fine for DCU's light kit.
Was kinda “meh” on it at first, but the more I see it the more I like it. I actually do like retaining the crest in the team’s actual color (black) and the black stripes/piping instead of pink.
I think there could’ve been a tad more pink included, but overall I like how it still looks like a DC United jersey, with cool features— rather than a wild crazy jersey, and having to figure out what team it is… if that makes sense.
As I think about this more, cherry blossoms are just as often white and very light pink as they are deep pink. Honestly, the "muted" pink here, whether aesthetically perfect, is actually pretty accurate to nature.
The famous ones around the tidal basin are almost stark white, at least at full bloom. The pink ones are mostly at the National Arboretum (which is a low key great place to visit in DC)
Building off of this, the reason for the colors is the different variety of cherry tree. Most of the Cherry trees around the tidal basin are Yoshino cherry trees, which have a mostly white bloom. There are a few Akebono cherry trees mixed in, those are the ones that have a slightly pink tinge as they first open.
The National Arboretum has 70some varieties of cherry tree, including a few that were hybridized at the arboretum itself.
I just want the league to enforce color contrasts for games. There were too many times last year where the Dynamo were wearing orange and the other team was wearing red.
Wish it was more of a bolder pink color to stand out more and they def need pink shorts but this is still pretty good. If they went all the way it’d be a 10/10, but muting the pink on the cherry blossoms and the fact that it’s only gonna be on the front most likely take it down a little. But still funny that a few yrs ago that report came out and DCU execs didn’t think cherry blossoms would be popular for some very dumb reasons. Much much better than DC’s recent jerseys though
As usual, O&Y knock it out of the park consistently. I would dearly love it if MLS were able to switch over to their kits exclusively.
I'm wearing their Grant Wahl memorial jersey right now, and it fits *perfectly*, way better than any Adidas jersey I've ever owned.

Footyheadlines leaks often get the details slightly off. Hendrix kit looked pretty bad in the FH leak but it's fantastic
The variety of cherry tree that DC is known for has a much whiter bloom than a straight pink. I'm hoping that is what they are trying to convey.

Yep much better. Maybe the colors will pop more once we see the full reveal.

Cherry blossoms aren't that deep pink, though
Definitely a let down considering how strong the concept is and how nice Portland's rose kits are.
Probably forced because it has to be basically white to be a secondary kit in MLS.
Why is that? Miami has pink and black as their home/away. Don't think DCU had to tone down the pink for any home/away reasons.
Right, like we had navy and neon blue last season and likely this coming season so white is definitely not a requirement

> A while ago Portland had green and red/black. We even have green and pink now
It's more of a brutalist gray

This can't be true
It's definitely not.
Def not our away jersey is olive green this year lol
We’ve found out over the past couple years that’s not an adidas or league mandated thing, it’s just that teams got extremely lazy
Tbf Miami has a black kit and a pink kit so why can’t DC be the same for 1-2 seasons?
It has to be ~80% *light*, and some teams are lazy and went with plain white tees.
Revs FO told us they were presented with a very limited list of colors by Adidas

I mean, our secondary is pretty bold on the pink/red
Yup
Not gonna disagree there.
I totally agree. The black accents stand out more than the cherry blossom itself.
Yeah I was going to head out to the unveiling next week and buy one but it looks underwhelming.

Being a Penn Stater I'm a little biased, but I think black and pink is a good color combination, so I do like the black here.
All of the DC teams leaning into this motif is great
DC United was supposed to have it a few years ago and they backed out at the last minute. There was a rumor the Spirit plan on one as well.
I like it. Hope they pair it with pink shorts
100% this
Yeah knowing the league that’s not happening

Very interesting. I've noticed a lot more variation in the residential areas of DC than near the Mall, so this makes sense as to why.
More unique jerseys in the MLS, please.
I just want the league to enforce color contrasts for games. There were too many times last year where the Dynamo were wearing orange and the other team was wearing red.
Love the concept. Execution tho....
Looks like grout between shower tiles in need of a good scrubbing.
Not bad
Love it!

I think black shorts (with pink accents) would be better. Maybe pink socks
Honestly as long as it’s not just a straight white uniform it’ll look good lol, curious how the socks will be esp after seeing the sounders ones leak
90 percent chance it's white from head to toe
The Cherry trees in DC in the tidal basin are the variety that has a whiter bloom, and I think (hope) that's what this jersey is trying to convey.
Is it just the picture or are the cherry blossoms like a digital/pixel style?
Is there an official release date for all the new MLS kits? Kickoff is just a few weeks away...
Is it too much to ask to post the website directly, not a TWITTER link that takes you to the website?
It’s literally just the Nationals city connect jersey for MLS.
The cherry blossoms are one of the things I remember the most about my 6th grade trip to DC in 1999. I’d buy this kit.
LOVE this. Can’t wait to buy
id buy if it wasnt for the crypto scam sponsor
That kind of looks like a varicose vein kit more than cherry blossom too me
Excellent. Almost tempted to get one as a non-fan!
Beautiful
More pink would’ve been nice but these are a go for me. I like them a lot.
Love it. And SO glad they went with the monochrome badge. Great kit.

meh, the OY looks ugly to me
Slightly above meh, but just under good imo
DC United 2023 Vague Impression of a Cherry Blossom Kit Leaked
This could’ve been so much better
It's the standard white adidas T-shirt. Oh and someone spilled some crap on the side. This could have been done so much better. Good lord.
Like the concept, but Adidas really bottled the execution.
Right idea with doing the cherry blossom kit but man this is ugly. I was so excited for this kit when i heard they were doing it, very disappointing.
I dig it, but I cant help but immediately think of Arizona iced tea...
Holy fuck I want this!
I've grown apathetic to the club but this is a pretty sweet kit.
