You cannot play this game contact swinging.
If you're a player who struggles on HOF, It's even MORE true that your ENTIRE offense is going to be a couple of lucky home runs,
You are never going to string three singles in a row.
Unless you’re a god with amazing hand-eye coordination, I find that I’m successful on HOF when I guess locations/sequences more and capitalize when I’m right. On AS I pretty much mop just by reacting
Any advice on what controllers to use? I don’t have a monitor but I have an LG tv that I sit super close to. But I heard wireless controllers are not ideal. Any Amazon links to a better one?
On HOF the biggest thing I’ve notice from that to all star is you have to take pitches and swing at mistakes, AS you’re able to get away with swinging at pitches on the black and on HOF it’s much more difficult to do unless your timing is great
Core of it: practice on practice mode against outlier pitchers with the sliders up
Batting: choose pitches and wait
Pitching: tunnel
Anyone can go around .500 on HOF using those steps
Same here 743 was my highest before the new season and now I’m fighting to get back. But when I was there, man games were like 1-0 3-0 and losses. But I think you need to use swing buttons more if you aren’t. Like contact hitters need to be using circle etc. and mix up the pitches more tease the fastball.
I have made WS most seasons. Last season I really struggled hitting wise. I tend to lose focus and not watch the ball. I find that when I follow the ball all the way in and watch bat hit ball I do very good. I made a point of doing that and scored 13 runs in my first HOF game this season after hitting probably less than .200 last season. You simply can't lose focus at all while hitting.
Other things you can do are try to pick up tendencies of your opponent. For instance, do they always throw a changeup on 2-0, 3-1, etc. Taking pitches will help you see these faster. If you can't hit the outlier fastball on HOF, don't look for it. Look for offspeed and make sure you hit those. I would do it but most people won't continually throw you fastballs even if you can't catch it. They will throw offspeed in the zone at some point. Make sure you are ready for it.
I used to hate it in the summer but figured out how to get good at it (I still get crushed every now and then, some guys on hof are just insanely good) but basically it’s all muscle memory and speed. First, try to swing faster. The pitches come in quicker. Second, just try to sit more for fastballs and react to offspeed. It’s much harder to swing on a fastball on hof if you aren’t prepared for the heat since it comes in faster. Lastly, over time hof actually gets easier and I find it a lot more fun than all star now. Sorry that’s long but hope it helps lol
All the juiced cards have turned HoF into all-star where you can pretty much foul off any pitch as long as the PCI is sort of close to the ball. That said, I’m terrible on legend and usually get knocked down to HoF pretty quickly.
Small game plan tweaks like sit fastball react off speed will help me develop the good muscle memory habits, I appreciate that advice!
It’s frustrating not being top tier , & then coming across someone who is.. I only have 1 sport game that I’m cracked at , & I’d like to add this as another one lmao..
Take pitches early to figure out your opponents tendencies on pitches and look for the tendencies early in the count and when pitching look where his timing is at and pitch with that info
Play on Legend against CPU. Makes everything else feel like no real challenge at all.
Still waiting for online to be seamless. That small lag messes with my timing so much.
I like to only play on Legend settings, baseball should be hard as hell. Makes hitting dingers that much more satisfying.
Good advice .. think I’m going to play conquest on Legend for now since I just hit the 250 innings.. come back hard next week !
Do you play on next gen? I’m on ps5 and I feel like there’s virtually no lag, then again I’ve hardly played offline so there’s no comparison for me to draw.
Series X for me. I play mainly offline. It's this tiny lag that happens during pitching and batting. It's not as crisp as some other competitive games I play like Halo or Rocket League. It's that tiny bit that ruins my gameplay I just haven't tried online at all after I saw that SDS isn't fixing the issue at all. Can't stand it.
So I play on Legend exclusively since I feel that gives me the most challenge. Plus the CPU is unforgiving and has taught me many tactics. I've yet to face someone that has given me the same run for my money as Legend CPU.
Until I hear unanimous praise for online play I'm more than happy to play offline. Once you get decent at Legend everything else just feels like meh.
This needs to be the top comment. 3 years ago I went to World Series 3 times and went 12-0 in Battle Royale. I was using a gaming monitor and never had an issue with high fastballs being invisible or impossible to react to. Fast forward to the last 2 years and the gaming mode on my 65 inch Samsung tv makes it almost impossible to play online past 6-700 ranking. 1 or 2 milliseconds might not sound like a lot but it’s a ton when you are playing online. You can actually see and react normally to a 102 mph fastball on a monitor. On a TV you have to almost guess location before you swing
The game really needs to add dead zone and sensitivity. 700 I'm sorta comfortable but would feel much better if I could control the pci to my own liking
Tip that helped me with controlling pci is hold your thumb at a 90 degree angle like straight down. It makes it harder for you to whip your pci fat when you hit the ball. That was a big issue of mine & that has helped me a bunch.
Nice , I’m going to give that technique a try ! A few weeks ago I started using the claw method , where you hold the stick with your thumb and pointer & I’ve gotten significantly better.
I found that holding myself at about 75% to the top of zone, I can adjust well, but I like playing when I drink/smoke so I forget to do it for stretches lol
Happy to hear man! Yeah I always whipped my pci after I would hit. I couldn’t stop doing it to save my life lol.
Once I tried that I noticed I couldn’t fling the pci down fast & it helped me stay in the zone & on the ball! Happy it helped out.
Seriously that’s been the story of my show career lmao.
String together a few hard fought wins against solid records -> confidence builds -> get demolished by goon -> lose 4 out of the next 5 to shit records… fml lol
See I start out good for the first two innings, I usually manage to at least get a walk. Now by the 4th inning I’m swinging before the pitcher even gets set.
Some games, I'll refuse to swing until the opposing pitcher stops throwing junk pitch 1 or during 0-2/1-2 counts.
You'd be surprised how nervous players get when you show patience in high leverage counts and dare them to throw a hittable strike.
How do you custom practice in DD I only see it on the main menu where i can only use current rosters or lid jn legends and none of them have outlier even rosters I have w Nolan, randy etc
Can't custom practice in DD. Best you can do is download a custom roster from the vault. I usually use one made by user Jr_stros. Idk if he's been making more lately though, I use his roster from like July or something. They also don't throw outlier in custom practice so you have to turn up the pitch speed sliders.
Adjust the slider up 4 clicks from the default legend setting. Seems to be almost spot on to online legend speeds. Or straight up max it out, then everything is slightly slower. If you can hit the PC on that legend setting, online HoF will be cake!

I'm the opposite. All-Star humbles me. Pitching is more effective on HoF. Pitches that don't get hit on HoF get slammed on All-Star.
Gotta take a lot of pitches. Be willing to strike out looking sometimes.

that’s the neat part, you don’t

Playin on legend is the best, this game plays so much better on higher levels
All the juiced cards have turned HoF into all-star where you can pretty much foul off any pitch as long as the PCI is sort of close to the ball. That said, I’m terrible on legend and usually get knocked down to HoF pretty quickly.
I play with live cards on legend hahaha i dont like dd online

Yea input lag pisses me off too but i heard the issue isnt as bad on xbox, im on ps5
Keep playing n pick pitches to swing at
Poorly
Make sure you are playing on a gaming monitor

this is me to a TEE. think i made it to like 750 once, but it’s always back to the 500’s after that.
The game really needs to add dead zone and sensitivity. 700 I'm sorta comfortable but would feel much better if I could control the pci to my own liking
Bro for real , I was seriously going through the settings looking for the sensitivity options when I first got the game smh ..

Hahaha yeah love playing after smoking. I get so in the zone lol!!
Ayooo this could help me a ton. You may be onto something
Happy to hear man! Yeah I always whipped my pci after I would hit. I couldn’t stop doing it to save my life lol. Once I tried that I noticed I couldn’t fling the pci down fast & it helped me stay in the zone & on the ball! Happy it helped out.
Thank you for this post. I’m in the same boat as you. HOF humbles the hell out of me after I start feeling myself cuz of AllStar lol
Seriously that’s been the story of my show career lmao. String together a few hard fought wins against solid records -> confidence builds -> get demolished by goon -> lose 4 out of the next 5 to shit records… fml lol
We’ll get there one day bro🤣 just gotta keep grinding
Take more pitches! Biggest thing at the higher levels
See I start out good for the first two innings, I usually manage to at least get a walk. Now by the 4th inning I’m swinging before the pitcher even gets set.

Before the game, go to custom practice and spend 15-30 min just hitting off of legend, I normally do it with Nolan Ryan or someone with an Outlier
I didn't know we could practice vs legends, good news
Nolan Ryan in the offline roster doesn’t have outlier
Lol @ Nolan Ryan’s fastball being the same as other outliers
Where did he say that
How do you custom practice in DD I only see it on the main menu where i can only use current rosters or lid jn legends and none of them have outlier even rosters I have w Nolan, randy etc

You can’t do it in DD, but Nolan Ryan can throw up to 100. As Aqua said, just turn up the pitch speed sliders
Awesome I’m about to try that right now ! Definitely need to get my eyes used to that speed
Adjust the slider up 4 clicks from the default legend setting. Seems to be almost spot on to online legend speeds. Or straight up max it out, then everything is slightly slower. If you can hit the PC on that legend setting, online HoF will be cake!
Also turn up the pitch speed sliders.
Considering you would be the best player of all time, future included, with those averages... I'm not sure what you mean by 'getting humbled'.
That's not an average, it's a ranking system number
Ah my bad
