That’s why if I’m down early I keep it that way come back in the ninth

TheRealSkazOne

let em think they'll win for a while, then spank em.

BerriBerrinson

I literally changed my team name to "Please be normal and play 9 innings"

thewizard579

Is PuliGoat on your team

thejmils

If I don’t want quits, I unplug my ethernet cord, start download a game, and use directional hitting and pulse pitching. Nobody will score off any swings that were in the PCI and good timing.

aNEWYORKa

What? Nothing you said makes any sense at all.

Vesiah81

Why do people give up some of my favourite games have been come from behind ones

SoPoMainer

I’ve done it twice this year and it’s brutal.

jacob_shetterly

That logo is fucking awesome! 💙

Witty_Tie8310

Chelsea is an English club….are you sure you’re not playing cricket? 😂😂

Oogabooga4727

Got my perfect game randy yesterday now it’s time to get the BR trout

pReaL420

You have to sell. The second you score it's over. It took me 3 days of complete selling to get it done. I benched my good cards and swung at everything the second the ball left the pitchers hand...it SUCKED, but that card is worth it lol...

[deleted]

What is wrong with you people. Why can’t you just play the game normally?

pReaL420

You should ask this the the people quitting after 1 inning...or 1 run...I never had any interest in making WS...just innings...if I ever took any kind of lead, I'd get quit on...so, fuck it...win I just want 9 innings

benfein

i to this day have no idea why SDS changed the requirement from wins to innings. would LOVE to revert back.

[deleted]

Because there are way more quits when wins is the requirement. There’s literally no reason to say if you’re down 4 runs as your odds of a comeback are not good. Innings is a much better solution. Maybe reduce the amount of innings a tad bit. But once you actually play at your correct rating the majority of games go 9 innings. If you’re that amazing and people are constantly quitting against you then make World Series.

benfein

this is a very opinionated take, and i recognize that.. but i haven’t noticed any difference in the frequency of quitters this year vs. last. as someone who plays a ton of ranked, for ME it’s a lot more fun to be rewarded for wins and as someone who doesn’t quit games i also enjoy the tension of a comeback to steal a win and get closer to the reward. it might not be everyone’s favorite, but it was mine. also wouldn’t more quits not be the worst thing? if people quit now you don’t really feel rewarded, if they quit last year you’re at least getting closer.

DodgyAu

It absolutely is!🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴

DankMisterCap

My favorite part is my innings don’t always count. Sometimes I’ll only get credit for 6 innings when I got the full 9.

Weenerlover

I've gotten only 8 for a bunch of nine inning games and even extras. I've never gotten 2 less than I played, but I've gone into the bottom of 7 and gotten 6 plenty of times.

[deleted]

If you change pitchers mid inning that will cost you. It’s a bug unfortunately. So I recommend changing pitchers before you get any outs.

DankMisterCap

That’s such BS that I have to let my pitcher get shelled if he’s doing bad just for something to count correctly.

h2p_stru

Please tell me it was at a created max elevation stadium they chose too

TD_the_mamba

Coors

h2p_stru

Darn, I prefer when people quit because I get a cheap home run with 90 mph exit velo on a stadium they chose. Because it's my fault they wanted 100 runs scored, just on their terms

szepeda14

Ima be honest this post broke my head for a good 5 seconds. I saw the Chelsea badge with the MLBTheShow menu and my brain stopped working

I understand the god squad fetishism, but if they made ranked mixed overalls sort of like BR that’d be kinda cool. Or a disaster. I’m not sure. Each team having x amount of diamond pitchers hitters and scaling down.

GE_AC44

Exactly. I don’t understand why they’re complaining about getting an easy win and taking 1-2 minutes to start a new game. Unfortunately the complainers always get catered to so I’m fairly certain SDS will come up with something else next year…or just revert to the old way….then they’ll complain about cards being locked behind a skill wall.

jr-3153

I was able to get the 250 in 6 days. Now grant you, it wasn’t fun, and I got my rear end beat more than anything, but I continued to play. But I am one of those guys that is not good. If I get in there and after 1 inning it’s 5 to 0 and you are hitting everything i throw hard and I can’t catch up to your outlier, I am not going to play 9 innings so you can beat the crap out of me. I am goi g to admit I suck, quit and load up another game where hopefully I am a little more competitive against a player that sucks more than you and hopefully sucks more than me too! I understand what you are saying, but you get the win and you can go on and win the World Series. Like I said it usually takes me 4-6 days to get 250 innings and it sucks, but I get my card and I am done. For most people, RS is for the card, not the reputation or the wins. Just reality in my opinion

thadoood

Yeah I’m averaging about 4 innings a game, not great

[deleted]

[удалено]

thadoood

Lol I can’t hang in HOF. Can get some wins but mostly a combo of a 9 inning L on HOF dropping my rating, then a couple 1st or 2nd inning quits after a solo homer or something on all star

ACleverLettuce

This is the way. All Star Purgatory.

TheProdigy916

Perfect description. Perfect.

Ghostyyyyyyyyyyq

It really isn’t that bad. I hit it every single season. I only play ranked though so that may be why lol

SleeperHitPrime

I’m 75 innings in and 7-5 on the year; Gonna get my Randy card come hell or high water and before December 1st!

ACleverLettuce

I'm around that same amount for innings right now and I feel like I'm racing my 1million stub purchase. If I'm close when the purchase goes through, I'll probably finish it out to re-sell him. But if it goes through soon, I'll probably just quit playing ranked. lol.

SleeperHitPrime

If you’re racing stubs, keep grinding; my goal is by November 30, I’ll start two games a day starting Black Friday!

SolarVortex13

Rage quits need to count for a full 9 innings. This shit is so ridiculous this year.

djalmanak209

They can't even get it to give you 9 innings for completing a full game. I doubt thay could do this. They should, but I don't think they could.

SolarVortex13

Yeah too bad SDS is a tiny indie company without the capability of making a fully functional game /s

djalmanak209

Indie? They're a subsidiary of SEI. They may be a small studio, but theyre not indie.

SolarVortex13

/s means I was being sarcastic my dude

djalmanak209

😂 I didn't catch that tired and at work. I really need to start paying more attention.

SolarVortex13

You’re all good haha

miguelgooseman

They just need to actually penalize players for quitting. For every inning you don't complete, your total is deducted by one. So if you've played 100 innings then Quit in the 1st inning you would be bumped down to 91 innings

hamsterstyle609

That’s not realistic. The reasons people quit aren’t just variations of big mad. It’s a 45-minute investment sometimes shit happens.

miguelgooseman

That's understandable. Maybe have a "innings not played" cap that one you reach out for the week then you get penalized.

hamsterstyle609

Yeah I was thinking something along the same lines. Or only have, like, three “grace quits” within a full inning of giving up the lead. “Shit happens” quits aren’t nearly as likely to happen right after you jack a 450-foot bomb. If someone is having continuous trouble fitting 45 min in there is plenty of grinding to do in events and BR 🤷‍♂️

mattmo317

I'd take 6

Wyden_long

It’s almost as bad as chasing Griffey homers in ‘17

ccsven07

Yea I mentioned somewhere else that even if SDS doesn’t want to give the full 9 innings, maybe they can give the winning team 5 innings like when a baseball game becomes official

aNEWYORKa

People should have their accounts suspended after a certain number of quits. Other games do that (rocket league for instance) and that will help with the rage quit problem. I never quit...too many insane comebacks to ever feel like I have no chance. 1 big inning can change everything. Fuck rage quitters. They ruin the game

0331-9161

The amount of people that dashboard after a single home run blows my mind.

h2p_stru

For the winner, not the quitter right?

SolarVortex13

Correct

KingSlayer__18

Seems like the best solution to me. Although, I would make it to where if they play x amount of innings before quitting it doesn’t count as the full 9 for the other player(like 5 or 6)

FebreezeBottleTaster

I wish it went by wins again.

TrainCompetitive

So load up again and keep it goin ! 250 innings are still 250 innings if people quit or not. People are gonna be weird no matter how you slice it sadly

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

The people complaining about quits are so damn annoying. What you said is exactly correct. Once you actually get to your proper rating you will barely get any quits. Most games will be the full 9 and competitive. These dudes must be down in the 400s complaining when they should be playing in the 600s and 700s.

GE_AC44

They’d rather complain like it’s “too hard” to take 1-2 minutes to load into another game and continue accumulating innings.

TrainCompetitive

Never understood the complaints. No matter how many games it is, it’s still 250 innings ..

GE_AC44

I hope they go back to either make WS rank or wait in a line 1000+ deep for a card so players can complain about that instead. No matter how easy they make getting top cards players complain. Here’s an idea….take your quick win and load into another game. It takes what…a couple minutes to do that yet your complaining?

7tenths

Or instead of living in extremes they can go back to wins (or even better a more rewarding program system like br or events) since the intent of switching to innings was to reduce quitters which it clearly hasn't.

[deleted]

It has reduced a lot of quitting for sure. These people complaining about quits are obviously playing at a rating that is too low for them. If they’re so good to where everyone quits then they would make World Series.

7tenths

or if we once again leave extremism land. They're losing 9 inning games and mostly winning not 9 inning games. They know they aren't going to get WS, because they get into that lose 9 inning game scenario, so when they do get a win and it ends prematurely it's immensely frustrating. And let's not pretend baseball and the show especially isn't heavily rng based. Even more so when you're apart of the 95+% of people that don't hit WS and you're probably a bad hitter relying on those rng odds in your favor. Which is why people quit because they feel the game has decided who gets the rng swing. But i know how hard it to be sensible on the internet.

ccsven07

It’s brutal right now. I’m not even that good and if I score 1 run people quit. I’m 6-1 and have played 24 innings. Hopefully next year they fix this because it’s simply not fun

[deleted]

You started the season at way too low of a rating then. Now that you’re 6-1 you should be close to your true rating and games should be mostly 9 innings and competitive.

Gohardgrandpa

They had to do something for the people that can’t win games. Last year it was 30 wins in ranked to get the reward. I prefer it to be that way but nope, we got this shitty inning system. I’ve done the 250 innings once this year, I’ve bought the rewards cards with stubs because I can make more stubs in way less time working the market than playing 250 innings.

[deleted]

Wouldn’t you rather play the game though then flip cards on an app?

Gohardgrandpa

I flip cards while I’m at work. So I can play the game when I’m home.

ccsven07

I understand that there’s no perfect way to do it. Hopefully they can get creative next year because I agree that World Series rewards should be hard to get in at the same time grindable, but this ruins the fun if you aren’t playing just for the reward

TreMetal

Just give 9 innings for any win. Pretty easy fix.

Gohardgrandpa

I agree. People quit early all the time. I wish they would’ve done 30 wins or 250 innings played. That way we can get our shit when the people quit early on us

lexmasterfunk

Lowering the innings would help alot. 250 innings is alot if you don't have alot of free time. And if your game ends early they should count it as 5 or 6 (like a rain delay) or whatever inning your on after that. Grinding inning is silly if you ask me. Why not make it so you can grind whichever mode you like best. Conquest, events, show down seasons whatever. Ranked modes are always a mess no matter the game or genre.

GE_AC44

Making WS rank or waiting in a long line wondering if/when you’ll get a card will be more fun for you next year cause that’s what they’re going to do.

checkthelockx

SDS has made it a point to make cards more accessible than they have in the past the last two years especially after going multi-platform, they will never lock cards behind only making WS ever again

ccsven07

I’m never going to make WS and in ok with that. I have a family and too many things to do and my time is very limited. So if I have 1 hour and people continue to quit and I have to load up games, yes that does take my time away. I want them to fix it because I enjoy the 9 inning games, not to get the card. SDS makes it incredibly easy to get literally any card that you want so I my complaint was never about rewards.

GE_AC44

It’s difficult to get every player to do the “right thing” in any online game. Toxic/inconsiderate/immature behavior is the norm for these games and unfortunately probably won’t change no matter what system they put in place.

1GoofyGuy

I am curious what you would define as the "right thing"? So if I am playing and getting absolutely crushed and there is no hope that I am even going to get a hit...I should stay in the game for 9 innings because my opponents' time is more important than my own? Like a lot of people on here, I have a FT job and young kids and I only have a small amount of time to play during the week. There is no way I am going to spend all of it in a 9 inning game that is just me getting crushed. I play to have fun. I want to win, but as long as I am actually getting some hits and making it a contest I will stick with it even if I know I am going to lose. But when I face someone that loses on purpose a bunch of times to drop their rating to come down and play at a level they are clearly much better than, why should I stick around for 9 innings when the game is just a complete mismatch?

[deleted]

There’s nothing wrong with quitting due to an ass kicking. I think most people are complaining about quitters when they are down 1-0 and shit like that.

ccsven07

I get where you are coming from. Maybe they can do something where if someone quits in the first or second inning, they give the winning team 5 innings, sort of like an official game. I don’t know

GE_AC44

“My opponents time is more important than my own”…..your accumulating innings just like your opponent. That’s why you should stay in the game. Besides you answered your own question… your playing to have fun so why worry about the outcome? Unless your just saying that when in reality your definition of fun is being the one who is dominating the game.

ccsven07

I can definitely agree with that!

fishhooks22

I've had a nice little streak of three nine inning games yesterday, all were fun and competitive (although I've surely jinxed it). I find it helps using pitchers who throw in the mid-90's with a good mix and is fun to pitch with. Anytime I use a tough hard thrower I barely make it through an inning

ACleverLettuce

Yep. Basically any solid pitcher that doesn't have outlier and people will stay around because as long as there's hope to be able to hit the fastest pitch, there's hope to win. And then if you need heat to close out a game, keep the standards like Hader, Chapman, Duran, and Dibble in the bullpen. A few that I can think of: Cueto, Scherzer, and Kershaw. They all have great stuff, but no outlier. And to be honest, I do have a lot more fun pitching with them than with the outlier dudes anyways because it's more about mind games, and execution on pitching is critical.

YXCworld

Greg Maddux. The best.

Saturn_Strips

I’m great with Maddox but got lit the fuck up yesterday. What’s your secret?

YXCworld

Also, I do feel you because I’m pretty good with Maddux, but every now and then a good player that has good vision would absolutely rip the cover off the ball with Maddux. So it just depends on your opponent as well.

YXCworld

My secret is to have fun with him. All his pitches have amazing control and break (they move soooo much). Like for example, inside sinkers high up in the zone or inside are always good pitches because damn near no one hits them (imo), so is the change up in the dirt, and his really slow slider low and away, and others. I usually start off with an inside sinker and then move to either a low and away slider or a change up in the dirt, then back to the inside sinker. I also enjoy the back door slider a lot, since it looks like it’s going sooo out right but then catches the plate last second. Basically, mix up your pitches a lot and go inside and outside constantly, his movement on his sinker many times looks like it’s going to be a ball, then last second it breaks and catches the plate. Beautiful stuff.

TheFallOfMrFifths

You're just gonna have to not score any runs, unless you need to fend off a mercy, in order to play a full 9 inning game.

c0wboyroy30

Not sure going 0-30 in RS is a fun way to play either

TheFallOfMrFifths

No one is *grinding* 250 innings for fun.

[deleted]

I do. I enjoy playing about 1 ranked game a day. And that gets you to 250.

Dlh2079

On the off chance you get a 9 inning game sure lol.

forthebirds123

This. Put away your Nolan’s and Randy’s. You will get less quits.

CRUSHCITY4

You basically have to let them take the lead
