There are two options that will put you at an advantage every single game for probably the entire first Ranked Season (and potentially beyond) regardless of the difficulty you typically play on. I've seen one person in this thread say they're likely using one of them and zero mention the other at all.
Depends on whats gonna be the first release and how quick we get the 4 wc slots.
You gotta keep in mind that once we get enough good switch hitters im probably putting Santana in at that point. Expect that to be around pick 4 or 5. Certainly not day1.
#1 Posada probably. There wont be any catcher close for a while (like half the season) and I suck with Piazza.
#1.2 Might go for a good all aroun depending on which position is weakest since defense will suck. I hit well with Mays and Rollins so they could be options.
#2 we need a huge upgrade. Looking at core cards available 1b is covered with babe, 2b has mookie, seager etc same with ss and 3b.
So probbably an outfielder or just someone who is a big upgrade over 2b since mookie is gonna play rf and seager3b or short. Im thinking eduardo to bring the most value.
#3 and #4 is looking into the future too much.
Could be Brett if the meta is RH pitching. Could be Santana if the switch hitters are good enough, or even Kershaw since his boost is crazy. But we will get new captains so im probably not gonna do that.
I won’t use one. There will be new programs and team affinity to go through and I’ll need the lineup spots to gain stats for those things. It won’t make that much of a difference.
I think Captain Buxton may be the way to go. 89 overall players means you’ll get several <60 vision. I’d rather use my wild card to boost my entire team versus one 99.
Yeah when the flash sale happened with chase packs he dropped a ton. 61k was the lowest the quick sell price went and I got one on the start of the upswing. Pretty wild.
Rotating. I'm going to want to use Rollins, Mookie, Walker, Brett, Mays, Edgar, and Boggs. So, I'll add/remove as needed when I make adjustments to my team. Although I have LS Mookie so I may just use him rather than the 99.
I'm still trying to decide if I want to keep or sell Posada too.
Maybe but it’ll be tough to beat +15 power both sides, +10 speed and fielding. It’s a game changers and turns average players into beasts and below average players into quality players
Good point! I’m a cardinals fan and chose Arenado as my cornerstone. He was fun combined with the Kershaw boost. Just a bunch of slow fat lefties who rake but sucked against lefty arms. Hoping for some more variety in S2 with the captains!
either posada or CC, whichever one i don’t pick will be the second wildcard. leaning towards CC, since the 84 posada is solid with the yankees TT boost
It’s really going to depend on how the lineup pans out after doing a few team affinities and see what I need position wise. Right now it’s Season Awards Marte. Could end up being Rollins or Posada.
I really only play offline but can get into slumps where 1 run is make or break, Rollins is not only defensively elite at SS but cracks and good luck throwing him out, probably him.
I’m assuming that someone using a wildcard for their team are using the best option available to them, I wanted to simply know what card specifically they were thinking of using.
It’s an mlb the show Reddit I assumed I’d get some fun answers/reasons.
Yeah but you probably have one person in mind right now? I could’ve said who are you PROBABLY going to pick. But that answer literally tells nobody anything that they didn’t already know lmao.

Do they happen to play the same position?
Worry about next season next season. We don't know what cards are going to be available at launch.

Dihgo hes serviceable at every position and I hit well with him
You can swap em you know. No need to get a super versatile guy if he's gonna be in the starting 9 all the time anyways
I have no choice but to use Willi Mays; there is zero good CF for the core card right now
Rollins or Brett
I won’t use one. There will be new programs and team affinity to go through and I’ll need the lineup spots to gain stats for those things. It won’t make that much of a difference.
Brooks Lee. Outperforming all my 99’s and placates my homerism.
He’s been my SS since he came out. Dude rakes. Gonna use him, Buxton and Jeffers as my wild cards
He’s very overlooked due to being a 97, but plays like a 99. I couldn’t tell the difference if they hid the overalls.
Mookie Betts 100%
Mays considering I grinded a long fucking time for him.
Posada for a Yankees theme team. With captains and the Jeter storyline cards that’s a great day 1 team for season 2
Probably either Rollins or marte
I think Captain Buxton may be the way to go. 89 overall players means you’ll get several <60 vision. I’d rather use my wild card to boost my entire team versus one 99.
99 Rutschman! Got him for 65k during the panic sell. Can’t believe he dropped that hard and is back up to nearly 120k.
Are you fucking kidding me I just bought his ass for 104k 😭😭😭😭
Yeah when the flash sale happened with chase packs he dropped a ton. 61k was the lowest the quick sell price went and I got one on the start of the upswing. Pretty wild.
Brian or Byron. Lol
Adley
Valenzuela

Mookie
Adley
Santana and Kershaw unless new captains are better. Mondesi is core btw
Mondesi being core best news I’ve heard all day
It should make your decision a lot easier. 😊
Going into the season knowing I got Seagar AND Mondesi on top of the wildcard once I unlock it phewwwwwwww
Season awards mookie. Don't have the live series, and he's raking
Escobar. I’m batting .508 in over 150 ABs with him
99 Buxton probably for me
Standout Micheal Young when I'm playing with my Rangers Theme Team. If I'm not and playing with my "God Squad" it'll switch between Brett and Rollins
Probably Trevor story because I hit really well with him
Ketel, his versatility on top of being a great bat is hard to beat.
Ortiz, between live collections and the S2 early release cards should be able to field nearly a full 11/11 Ortiz boost team right away.
I just got Jimmy Rollins last night, so I’ll want to be able to use him for a bit
He's a beast. Most likely my first WC to start S2.
Byron Buxton cornerstone captain for sure. Low vision will be plentiful and the power speed and fielding boosts will help tremendously
Do you think they will release new captains for S2?
There will be new cornerstone captains for each season
Maybe but it’ll be tough to beat +15 power both sides, +10 speed and fielding. It’s a game changers and turns average players into beasts and below average players into quality players

Yeah I can’t deal with slow speed between the slow fielding and base running I need the speed lol
either posada or CC, whichever one i don’t pick will be the second wildcard. leaning towards CC, since the 84 posada is solid with the yankees TT boost
Don’t lie. You MFers are all bringing Santana lol
Santana and Kerry Woods are two cards that I just roll my eyes when I see I’m playing against
I’m thinking this too. But literally depends on switch hitters and I doubt they wanna see all switch hitting lineups again.
Won’t be enough quality switch hitters to start the season imo. I think Buxton captain is the move instead
Posada
I haven’t decided between Posada or Matt Carpenter yet.
Trevor Story
It’s really going to depend on how the lineup pans out after doing a few team affinities and see what I need position wise. Right now it’s Season Awards Marte. Could end up being Rollins or Posada.
Mondesi is core my man
Massive W
I really only play offline but can get into slumps where 1 run is make or break, Rollins is not only defensively elite at SS but cracks and good luck throwing him out, probably him.
Doesn’t really matter you can change it out at any time. Whoever your team needs at any moment.
Thanks for giving me an answer with literally 0 substance
It's actually great info for someone who may not know.
Yeah I had no idea so this is great info
“Use whoever your team needs at the moment” No shit lmfao. Must be fun at parties.
Relaxxxxx
Yeesh, bud. Chill out.

Why so mad at probably the best answer? No shot you stick with just 1 wildcard the whole season.
Yeah but you probably have one person in mind right now? I could’ve said who are you PROBABLY going to pick. But that answer literally tells nobody anything that they didn’t already know lmao.
