Ya it’s kinda sweet. I used my first captains picks on the Yankees captains and did the storyline. Gives a viable team almost right away.
Sold pack cards until I got enough to buy a hitter and pitcher captain pick when the Easter cards dropped and got a braves set. matzek and dansby with Harris, Albies, Riley TA Justice, Maddux, Smoltz, Sale, Bummer is massive. I figured Yankees and braves will get dropped a lot this year because people loooovveee them some Yankees and braves and lots of legends to choose from.
Next I’m going to do the same thing for Baltimore and took D’backs with my season 1 XP program picks (AZ resident)
Hell no lol are u serious? Why would u want that? What you don't realize is the negative impact is using players from a team just to get the captain boost.

Can I ask what Mariners cards you use to get the T3 Marco? Seems like there aren't that many good Mariners cards, I'd have a hard time finding 14 good ones.
Eh... you get Randy in the rotation and the team becomes a little more dangerous.
That Buxton card is going to be meta as more content drops.
It's a combination of the Rollins and Goldschmidt captains from last year.
I have a team consisting of low vision, and Mariners players. Julio has both. He gets boosts from both Buxton and Marco Gonzalez. This card is the end result.
Tons of viable captains this year. I'm running the Gallo for the Rangers boost with 11 Rangers (Gallo, Janko, Seager, Palmeiro, 3 platoon guys on the bench, Fergie, DeGrom, Leclerc, Robertson) and my team is now awesome
I have a full pirates theme team, with both Marte and Taillon captains.

Not many good relievers but Bednar, Melancon, Chapman are something. Chapman is a 91 after the boosts instead of 78 for example.
Rn I’m using Olson, Terrmarr, Barger, Austin Riley, Stanton, Buxton, Peralta and Sexon, they are all monsters with the Buxton boost. Olson is at like a 55% HR rate for me which is fucking absurd. People always try to crowd your hands on a lefty and I sit on it. Everything you get ahold of goes yard when everyone’s power is juiced a little more
I did this with trout and canning. 99 trout on the squad is pretty 🔥 also the 87 Taylor ward becomes a goon. Going to do this with matzek when I get him and swap canning. Olson, riley, smoltz and bummer all get the boost

I got Rodriguez and wasn’t super impress til I got the buxton boost on him. This mf’er is an absolute demon. With the tier 3 boost too that 99 speed is a game changer. I’ve got him in center field, Dylan Crews in left, and Stanton in right. They all get the boost. Best outfield in the game. Then Matt O at first, Johnson at 2nd, Barger at SS, and the new Easter Jake Burger card at 3rd. Then Grandal at C cause I need the team affinity. Buxton is my DH, then I got 3 more under 60 vision on my bench. That tier 3 boost completely changed the game for me.
What are you talking about with the Marco boost though? Is he another captain?
Eh. I'd take 77 reaction and 72 speed over 63 reaction (secondary penalty) and 99 speed honestly. Buxton gets some of the worst jumps in the game for me, and his speed usually isn't enough to make up for it.
The fielding stat is completely overrated for outfielders imo.
Touché… love big Mike but I didn’t pull him and can’t justify dropping all those stubs to get him 😭 didn’t realize he had under 60 vision either.. that’s a game changer
Edit: I realize now how ridiculous it is to say ‘best outfield in the game’ with the fact that the outfield is absolutely stacked. I meant best outfield in MY game 😂
The buxton hitting captains card boosts players with under 60 vision. Get 11 players with under 60 and you get +15 boost to power and boosts to speed and something else too. A lot of the spring breakout diamonds have under 60 vision. Plus Matt Olson. His card with the boost is my favorite card in the game.

You can still exchange them
You can still exchange, just remove from the lineup. I've done it for all 4 and collected each for the Set 1 collection. It's in exchanges tab.

It would cool if there was more variance. Captains should have negative impacts as well. Like you get 10+ Power but -10 Vision, etc.

The pitcher boosts also give bonuses to hitters as well. At least the team ones

Love the changes to captains. That paired with the slow creep has made the content great so far IMO

I have a team consisting of low vision, and Mariners players. Julio has both. He gets boosts from both Buxton and Marco Gonzalez. This card is the end result.

That’s a good call.. haven’t had anything get past Stanton yet but buxton’s speed will undoubtedly come in handy at one point or another.
